[Q] 32b drivers on 32a magic. - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi
My brother just gave me his HTC magic but it lags extremely badly and he told me he accidentally put on the 32b drivers when his phone was a 32a magic.
Is there any way I can put the 32a drivers on?
Thanks

You forgot to tell us anything about your phone (besides 32a).

Sorry.
What kind of info do you need?
It's running the 2.2 cyanogen mod.

Unless you're running 1.33.0013 spl then you need an eb1 kernel.
That's all you need.
If you happen to have 1.33.0013 then you stick with 32B roms. Nothing more to be done.

so since my phone isn't running that spl, nothing can be done?

I think that maybe either you or your brother misunderstood what needed to be done.
Typically, the drivers don't need to be replaced to increase performance. If it is done, it's done by the developers of the particular rom that you have installed. Optionally, you can experiment with different kernels, however it has little to do with drivers. It's mostly floating points, extra ram boosts, etc.

so he must've meant he installed a rom specifically meant for the 32b magic. In which case, which kernels can be installed to give the phone a performance boost?

That depends on the rom being used.

Port Of Cyanogen Mod ROMS

Anyone willing to port the lastest cyanogen mods specifically for the 32B?
i.e. no Apps2SD etc?
ET
Its already for. The 32b.

Saved me the time of day.
But still, I couldn't resist. As Clinton has previously stated, his ROM builds have been ported for 32B motherboards. Do some research please.

I know that smart ass im running it on my phone, don't
A - make assumptions
B - read the post.
The 32B doesn't need the apps2sd, notice the mention of the word 'specifically'. The cyanogen mod works on both G1 and 32B

Hero roms on 32A

I've heard several places that the sapphire 32A and hero has the same hardware, so it's basically the same phone on the inside. I was therefore wondering, are we (32A users) able in some way to flash roms for hero?
?!
this is what we have been doing sooooo long!!
and the hero and magic does not have exactly same hardware, but just close
check this out! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592856
it is for advanced users as you will need to flash a new SPL and radio to get it working! greetings

Wow. Thanks for your quick reply, that sounds awesome!
So after flashing the spl, radio and recovery I'll be able to flash any ROM made for hero on my 32A without porting?
no you can't just flash any hero rom cause you will need special kernel with support for the hardware of your sapphire. but with that in mind it should be possible if you just flash a custom kernel onto it

Magic ROMS on my EBI1 HTC Dream (rogers)?

So I was looking at the cyanogen wiki and noticed that the 32A magic had to use the exact same port files for their roms as I do on my Rogers Dream for Cyanogen. I really want to try Eclair. Can I just use a Magic 32A rom on my Dream?
32A has more RAM & ROM so no you cant install the actual rom that was given as a OTA to Magic users. You can go to Rogers and ask to buy a Magic if you want.Or get a hero rom from here and stick with it.
there are hero ROMs for EBI1?

Oops, nope you have to stick with cyan or enom. No one has made one for EB11 yet.

Help me decide wich mytouch to buy

So i have a g1 rooted. But i want to upgrade and have 375 dollars to put towards a phone. can you root the new mytouch 1.2 and are the roms for it worth it? with the extra ram id like to run a sense or espresso rom, but if they are not 100% i do like cyanogen roms. Is it worth the upgrade ? and should i get the 32A phone since it has more ram? will all of the mytouch / ion /magic /saphire phones work on tmobile 3G???
And thanks allot for any help guys
well all mt3g 1.2's are 32a but not in the tradtional sense your used to.
Yes you can root it and run most roms that you were running on your g1 they have been ported. I am running a 2.1 no problem as for sense ui no idea i hate those roms but i believe they work just fine.

[Q] HTC Magic 32B recommended ROM's

Hi there, HTC Magic user here.
I've gone back to stock ROMs for a bit but lately I've been wanting to go back to a rooted phone.
My previous experience with Cyanogenmod 5 and 6 has been terrible, the phone ran slow and even completely stock there would be either launcher restarts after running even the messaging app or app force closes if the launcher was kept in memory. The only ROM's that worked well were 1.6 based ones but of the three that most people use, they all have problems which make them difficult to use in the long run.
tl;dr What ROM's are you using with your 32B Magic and what optimisations do you do to stop lag and memory overflows happening?
Ezgingerbread (link in my sig) is what I usually use. Its pretty light and fast.
If you want as many cm features as possible while still having some speed try cos-ds.
If you really like cm features, there's greenromproject cm7 or anotger cm7 rom who's name I can't remember. I haven't used those yet so I can't say anything about speed there.
And these are all gingerbread roms. Idk what to suggest for other versions.. I got into android right before cm6.1

Does Gingerbread need a new radio firmware on the Magic?

Nope. There are gingerbread roms for every radio. If you are talking about the 2708+ radio then I would recommended it for the extra ram
I'm currently running Ginger Yoshi 1.2 and love it. I've used CM 5.0.8, CM6, Ginger Yoshi 1.1 and now 1.2. All have worked great on my phone. The one thing for me is that I wipe everything...everytime. To include my SD card manually. I save my files on my computer and put them back after I load up the ROM.

Hi Everybody,
do you known or do you have a link to download the ROM please.

Search is your friend
If your phone is rooted you could always get Rom Manager Free from the Market and get the rom of your choice. I use CyanogenMod-6.0.0-DS and the phone runs great. It's actually the only ROM my phone has been able to handle fully with no issues. OS 2.2 is the highest I would put on the MT3G. I've tried Yoshi's, EzTerry, Greenrom, etc.. and all either had issues or just wouldn't work.
Search in this forum, RC Magic V7, SFM 1.2 sense 2.1 (Its great recomended), or clean magic (Fast). All whit htc sense! I tested all and work greats!

Have used both SFM 1.2 and Clean Magic 5.01. Would highly recommend either of them. The new lock screen in SFM 1.2 is very cool though

Sorry, just realised they are both 32A only ROMs. Maybe take a look at Ginger Yoshi 1.2

I've tried biffmod, gingeryoshi and few others before them, unfortunately each left me wanting to try another rom. Now I'm on froyobylaszlo I simply don't have that yearning for another rom anymore, and I suppose that says it all. I think I made a couple of tweaks but nothing major(can't remember though!) and it runs great, very smooth and fast.
Only issue I have is running speedtest, where it reboots occasionally.

Thanks for that, but they're both 32A ROMs.
My phone is the 32B and only has 192mb of RAM so I don't think they'd run

The ones I recommended above actually are for the 32b though.......
If you need links let me know.
Recommend the rom's froyobylaszlo.
