Hi all,
A little while ago I screwed up one of the software tweaks in the app 'Galaxy S Tweaker', then my phone would not boot. So I decided I might as well attempt to flash an I9000 Froyo ROM (can't remember the exact one at them moment, but either JP3 or JM5, I think.) and it is running great! except for one pretty big thing...my phone doesn't work as a, well, phone. It simply says: 'no service' and I'm obviously not able to send/receive text messages or calls.
Before I had 'bricked' my phone, I had it unlocked and running fine on the Telus network here in Canada. (I used the popular method as detailed in a different XDA thread, but it would seem as though Samsung has patched that, because I tried that method again, but to no avail.)
I would also like to note that I have tried 2 online unlocking services, and BOTH of them have come up negative, saying they can't retrieve an unlock code for my device!
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Thanks,
Dylan
I am looking for some guidance on the most recent and up to date methods for
a. Unlocking the AT&T Galaxy Tab
b. Enabling Phone Capabilities on the Galaxy Tab
c. Rooting the Galaxy Tab
I'd also like to know the order the unlock must occur before or after enabling phone capabilities?
It's the same method that's listed in my sig.
And I carrier unlocked mine after flashing the various roms.
How did you carrier unlock?

+1 to what ranger posted. But seeing as you're relatively new here Jeep, I'll pay it forward:

AT&T Galaxy Tab Unlock & Phone Capabilities
Hello . Anybody in Chicago area will be able to help me with rooting ,unlocking, phone capabilities AT&T tab? My 1st Android, but AT&T limited what I can do with it. Very irritating.
I gave up after 3 weeks.
I would do the following steps.
1) Install the Euro Rom to get the phone capability
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929479
2) Root the phone
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...d-samsung-captivate-with-super-one-click-app/
3) Unlock sim. I didn't do this myself but this should work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843323. You need to install Android SDK and Galaxy modem

Just wanting to let you know that there is more than likely a Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) firmware update for your phone.
If interested then there is more information in this thread:

thx Guys ,,
i tried SGS unlock from market but it shows unlock code as : null !!!
also i tried manually search and edit nv_data.bin but i ddnt find it and find bml3.bak
(as other methods says) also tried to search it for SSNV but no success!!
whats is the guranteed methid even if it possible to get back to 2.1 !!
please help me
note: (phone doesnt ask for code when i insert another SIM !!)
Buy the SGS Unlocker from market author Degantboy or something like that.. the paid version 100% works on my phone.... it use to show me unlock code on 2.1 but not 2.2+ but still unlocks my phone.
Run the unlock procedure, reboot phone, shut phone off, place in new sim card, power up phone, if the phone isn't unlocked re-run app with new SIM card and reboot, voila should fix your problem.
Your phone needs to be rooted. and the free versions don't work for me.
you can always just buy the unlock code to unlock the sim restriction.
http://unlockcellphonecode.com/code-for-unlocking-samsung-cell-phone
worked for me.
While we're on this topic, I used one of the free apps back when I had 2.1 to get the unlock code.
I've never used it, but I have the code saved. Now that I have updated to 2.2 and then 2.3, would the code still work?
Hmm another factor is that I must have done that before I had the phone repaired (as the repaired one came back with 2.2). I wonder if whatever board they replaced will have a different unlock code? I guess it might be based on the IMEI? Not sure if that changed or not...
Nv data hex edit. Change a 1 to 0, and permanent unlock. search for instructions, they are on this forum and search really isn't that hard to use.

Guys, once the Bell SGS is unlocked, which networks can it run on? I'm specifically interested in Wind. Can it run on AWS/1700?
Sorry for the slight hi-jack but I can't find accurate info anywhere.

You must get confused by the T-mobile Vibrant when searching for information. The Bell SGS does not have band 1700, as such, it will not work on Wind. The T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant includes 1700 but does not have band 850/1900.
I used superoneclick to root then purchased SGS Unlock Pro. When I upgraded to GB via Kies, the unlock remained. I had used the app that got the unlock code but when I re-locked my device, the code stopped working.
found that the free version of SGS Unlocker
(Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Tool DaGentooBoy)
and Galaxy S Unlock (by Helroz) don't unlock the i9000m running android 2.3.3
(superoneclick was used for rooting)
sorry couldn't post links

I have used Galaxy S Unlock by Helroz, however in order for it to work, you may have to install/upgrade busybox.
I found the easiest way to do this was to superoneclick, then install titanium backup and make sure it has root access. Then upgrade busybox from within. Then you can use the Galaxy S Unlock to unlock.
i did this on my newer phone, and also on my family member's Galaxy S2 from Bell.
altering nv_data.bin might end in total imei lose if you corrupt it
and please do not pay or purchase full apps to unlock your device !!!!

I also have a Canadian Bell GS2 with CM9, root, busybox... I'm trying to put a Rogers sim card in it.
I have tried both the Galaxy S Unlock as well as the Galaxy unlock app from Herloz unsuccessfully...
I have tried to run the unlock code generator by feeding it the nv_data.bin, but my GPU is not supported, and I'm not exactly keen on messing up my EFS files.
I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for me?
Perhaps I could have you guys run the tool with the attached nv_data.bin?
Much appreciated.
Hello everyone,
Sorry if this was posted already - I am typing this up in between other projects and I wanted to put something out here so I wouldn't forget. This last weekend, I purchased a used Galaxy S5 CDMA phone branded by US Cellular. I searched and searched for a way to unlock it but I was not able to find anything that worked for me. My phone is currently running Android 4.4.2 and none of the *# dial codes would do anything for me. Finally I was near a local US Cellular today so I brought my phone in and they unlocked the SIM for me so I can use it with other carriers. I haven't had a chance to go through the phone yet after the unlock, but I plan on looking at it tonight when I get home to find out if I can figure out how it was unlocked so I can share that info with anyone on the site who would like to unlock their SM-G900R4. I'm hoping that during their unlocking process, the hidden menus were left visible so I can look at the phone's file structure. I'll report back as soon as I know more.

Just a quick follow up... I didn't have a chance to go through my phone extensively last night, but I did see something that may or may not be of interest. When I got my phone back after being unlocked, there was an icon for mceFramework. When I clicked on it, it ran in the upper corner of the phone and when I swiped down it said it would be uninstalled. From what I have read about it, it has really nothing to do with the unlocking of the phone though.
Depending on what time I get home tonight will determine if I get to really dig into the phone tonight or not. I'm hoping there is something I will be able to find that will be useful. The US Cellular phone is a bit different though, as I mentioned before regarding the *# codes... No matter what *# codes I try, they do not work... even something as simple as *#060# does nothing on my phone - even after being unlocked. If I find something, I'll report back.

Hello, I came across this thread and just thought I'd share how I was able to unlock my Galaxy s5 Mini (US Cellular). I tried just about everything, but what finally worked was simply flashing the stock rom which can be found at the sammobile site. Use 'Odin', instructions included on the website.

Hello -- stock rom by model number. I think in most cases this is just stock Android for the carrier of specified model, minus bloatware and network lock. Well, I correct myself -- there may be some bloatware, but certainly less than what was there after performing the factory reset. The link to 'sm-g900r4' rom is at sammobile(dotcom), firmwares, search for model number -- and download latest version.
In my case, phone model is 'sm-g800r4' (US Cellular). Everywhere I looked online suggested that I had to contact US Cellular and request instructions for unlocking, but they will only do this if you have the original sim card. So, I finally flashed the stock rom using Odin, following very basic instructions (included on the rom site). After flashing, I still had the US Cellular splash screen, but my verizon sim suddenly worked with the device. Next step for me -- root and replace that ugly US Cellular splash screen with the gorgeous lollipop boot animation. Very nice.
If you need assistance with specific instructions let me know, and I can provide a quick summary.
Simple instructions, great site to join for US Cell users.

Did you ever figure out a way to unlock your phone?
Hello, I may be having trouble finding the info, but I am hoping to find a good, clean ROM for my AT&T Galaxy Tab 4 8 inch tablet (SM-T337A). I have rooted it, and the main reason I want a new ROM is to make sure I can unlock it when I dump AT&T for T-Mobile, so other options to do that would be appreciated, also. Thanks for any help!
I have a Galaxy Tab 4 from AT&T as well. As far as I can tell, the device has a locked bootloader, and there hasn't been a development effort to try to bypass it. So, in the meantime, we're unable to install custom ROMs. Thanks AT&T.

If you just want to use it on TMO, you can have it unlocked. I had mine unlocked (I had to use a third party unlock service because AT&T wouldn't do it for some reason). But, just so you know, it is not eligible for the free 200mb plan yet. I made a request to TMO to add this device to the list so I can sign up for it. If you want to go for paid plans, it works just fine.
