I now have axura 2.2 on my phone. I would like to change to nero V2 do I have to do anything special, or just install like I did installing axura. By anything special I mean go back to eclair etc. anything I should know because switching to axura went so smooth.
Some suggest going back to stock via ODIN. I do not do this. Backup your apps, and homescreen, whatever.... flash.... let it be easy for awhile, reboot... restore everything, reboot again.
Make sure disable any lag fixes before you flash. Also let me know how you like nerov2. Im running axura now and im curious about nero . You can pm me if you want.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo

Hey guys, new to rooting and mods on phones. i have a samsung fascinate that i rooted on saturday. installed rom manager, root explorer, clockwork and ti backup. the problem i am having is that when i attempt to flash the super clean rom from jt1134, by using the rom manager. it keeps giving me a few different error messages. on is E: failed to verify whole-file signature and E:Signature verification Failed. Through my research i tried dl'ing the zip form to the sd card, and similar messages came up. please help. Thanks
Can I make a recommendation? Dont instal any roms as of now. None are true custom roms. All still have the touchwiz running. None of the roms run bug free and all see Force Close errors!!
Your better off...just rooting, Install lagfix from market, and use launcherpro.
Ive tried the custom roms and honestly not worth it till froyo comes.
stupid question but what exactly does lagfix do?
Ok ive noticed it fixes how slow the market reacts when opened, also speeds up when page loads somewhat.....if you use the LagFix in the market it has a option in the app to remove it if you dont like it , but im sure you will. Stay away from Voodoo LagFix it can be tricky.
Download oclf from market
give it root access
choose to install EXT2 Tools
Then go back and install Lag Fix V1+
This is the only lag fix i know of that be removed by the app itself no outside programs.
Trust me the roms that are out you wont notice anything special from them. all they do is remove apps!!! Wait till cyanogen releases his rom for Fascinate. He makes the best Roms period!!! And he just made a beta for the galaxy lineup....but the fascinate will not see any true roms untill froyo is released!!!
whats the eta on froyo? seems like it keeps getting pushed back.
the cyanogen rom was the entire reason i wanted to test it on the fascinate(i didn't know it wasn't available yet). i had a buddy with it and it seemed to be a super powerful rom.
thanks for all the info martyotaku
From the looks of it.... not till January! Was supposed to be this month. Who knows might still happen.
Honestly if I'm you if your in your 30 days return it and wait for something else. Samsung is known for horrible support.
It sounds like you haven't actually installed CWM... Did you just try to flash it via ROM Manager? Because that won't work. You actually have to flash it using Odin. Once you have CWM successfully installed, you can flash ROMS, kernals, etc...
And I would stay away from the OCLF. A lot of people have been having problems with it, just like VooDoo. Once I uninstalled it, I noticed significant battery life increase. All the lag fix really does is artificially inflate quadrant scores, which don't really count for much anyways.
I've been running JT's Super Clean ROM and I can easily go 48 hours without a charge... No where near that on the stock ROM
just bought cwm from the market and installed.
which i didnt do before. i assumed when i dl rom manager and did that recovery it was already installed.
went to see how super clean acted and tried to redo the flash. still gave me the same two error messages.
Again, you have to flash CWM through Odin, you can't just install it and it magically work
gotcha. ill research how to use the odin ect.... thanks kevin
No problem!
Here's the thread on how to do it
And I cannot stress this enough...
NEVER, EVER, EVER USE THE "PHONE" BUTTON IN ODIN!!!
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS USE THE "PDA" BUTTON.
You will have an expensive paper weight if you use the "phone" button.
Don't do it.
Well if that happens... I'm going straight to verizon and opsse sorry I dropped it in a lake... Haha

figured odin out... got it installed and did a back up... completely different process.. looks like it has worked. phone is rebooting right now. and ... its stuck on vz symbol for a few min... bammm...very nice!! recommendations from here... sweet themes maybe???
Cant wait to see how it goes from here on out... Thanks so MUCH Kevin. is there any way to give props on this website?
Not that I know of, other than the way you just did!
Glad you got it working.
I'm using JT's Super Clean ROM from ROM Manager with the Dark Gloss theme
i so far like the set up of revolutions v3 w/ circle battery. here in a few i am going to switch to dark gloss mod w/ slide animations...
I just flashed Bonsai rom and I finally have froyo on my epic!
Although I had problem following instructions, I finally got it working.
I'd like share my experience of flashing froyo rom on stock phone in hope to help other people who haven't flashed a rom like me before. Please go easy on me, this was my first time flashing custom rom.
First, I copied Bonsai rom file to sdcard.
Then, I flashed stock DK28 rom using the Odin program. This was very easy to follow and was done very fast. Within minutes, I had stock froyo on my phone.
Next, I downloaded Clockwork MOD v3.0.0.x and follow the direction of installing samsung driver and activated the debugging mode on the phone.
After the computer recognized the phone (it took a while and I had to pull the USB from the phone and back again), I ran the run.bat and clockwork mod was installed.
Now, I had to boot in to recovery mode, which I had problem. I didn't know that I had to fully turn off the phone to boot into recovery mode. After the phone is fully turned off, press volume down, camera button and power button and hold all 3 buttons for while.
Once I was in the recovery mode, it automatically backed up data. This took a while. After that, I wiped data, cache and dalvik cache several times.
Then I installed Bonsai zip file while I was in the recover mode. It automatically installed and rebooted the phone.
But for me something went wrong. The phone had mixed up boot animation, and it booted to stock DK28 theme. Also when I touched the phone, it didn't respond and rebooted. I had to pull the battery and boot to recovery mode.
I then wiped data several times again and reinstalled the Bonsai rom. This time it rebooted correctly! I confirmed by checking the About in the phone.
So far its working good and Quadrant benchmark gives me 1800 range.
Also I am happy that after few tweaks, my stock earphone control is working!
Now I am a happy camper!!
Excellent. Check out the other ROMS when you get the chance.
I too just recently decided to root/new rom my epic. It was extremely easy and not nearly as complicated as I thought it might be. Went with Bonsai also because the instructions were so simple and I wanted a simple functional rom. So much faster and better! Few little nuances, (call log having sms messages which i fixed) and the speakerphone toggle on calls but other then that it is awesome. Anyone on the fence...take the jump.
I think I will take the jump this weekend for the first time. I have wanted to install froyo and try out the many custom roms for a long time now. I guess I'm just a little nervous but I'm sure there is not much to worry about.

i tried a few of the dk28 roms (frankenstein, bonsai, nebula, quantum) over the past week or so, and kept running into hiccups that didn't really entirely kill the enjoyment of having froyo on my epic, but it really soured the deal. i appreciate what the devs have done with the dk29 leak. i'm sure it leaves much to be desired, but i'm looking for a smoother experience so just today i flashed back to syndicate. have to say i'm very pleased with that decision
The reverse is the case for me. No DK28 ROM has been worth it to me in any case (it's not complete/'tis a leak anyway). Got tired of the stop gap performance and went back to DI18 a while ago and it is a breath of fresh air. Like night and day performance/battery wise.
Until official Froyo is out, i'm not interested anymore.

Im in the same situation as you. Ive tried all of the Dk28 roms and always came back to my DI18 set up. Most Dk28 roms worked well overall. However I personally couldnt get over the lag, no matter how small. With my current DI18 rom and kernel set up, everything flies. The devs have done a great job tho on all of the 2.2 roms.

After I odined back to stock like 2 times, I flashed bionix. At first I had to push the froyo jl5 kernel with voodoo because rom manager couldn't install cwm. The everytime I reboot my phone, settings reset. Why?
try the KA7 kernel w/Voodoo and see if you get the same result.. any reason you want to use the JL5 kernel that Supercurio stated causes some problems in the OP???
dont' use cwm just flash through recovery wipe completely first manually,

Sounds like you have some gremlins in your phone. I had a market issue that I tried everything on, and I mean everything. So, for kicks I installed the TW version of bionix and it fixed it right back up. Give it a shot. There's usually no clear answer for these things, but I always keep a version of rom manager and titanium backup on my external sd card for quick flashing. Shoot me a PM if your phone still gives you grief.
Well I've been running 2.3 superclean+ transitions voodoo, and have tried the gingerbread v5 rom, as well as vanilla aosp froyo rom. I have working back ups of all three. I can switch between the three nandroids np, but when I try to install a theme no matter which one, I go into force close hell... I really want to go back to stock deodexted eb01 and start fresh. I'm still new to voodoo so I'm a little confused as what to do. Can I just use a all in one odin file to either go back to eb01 or dl09 or do I have to disable voodoo lag fix in CWR first?

If you are going to odin stock, no need to disable voodoo.
Right on brother, thx.
I've rooted my fascinate, tried several different ROMs and kernels. I've got it setup using Super Dark DJ05 with a voodoo kernel. I've done enough backups and restores from different ROMs I feel pretty comfortable with the phone, voodoo, themes, CWM, etc. It's running very fast, 12-16 hr battery, great looking theme. I'm happy with the phone like it is. But, just because it's not EB01, should I risk messing up the setup I've got just to get Froyo or just be happy with being outdated and keeping what I've got? What's the safest way to get from voodoo kernel to EB01, voodoo or not?
I would say keep what you have if your satisfied with it, as far as getting EB01, "odin"! Rock on!
Just batch backup apps with titanium backup. Download eb01 of your choice. Wipe data cache battery stats and dalvik. In eb01.zip and restore batch app backup titanium. What's their to mess up should only take about 20 minutes. If your comfortable with cwm and root and stuff I'd just do it. If youclve done what you said its just as easy to do this. Plus how much more are people going to develop for eclair. Everyone is working on froyo now so I'd say make the jump. I really like my setup in my sig.
Oh yea don't forget to flash modem via Odin. Easy as well
What special would I need to do since I'm already running voodoo? Do I need to uninstall voodoo or just go straight to a voodoo EB01 kernel when I install EB01?
Disable lagfix and have at it
Used my magic voodoo powers
If you're going from voodoo to voodoo you don't need to disable lagfix. The proper steps are as follows:
-flash the EB01 modem over pda button in odin
-wipe data, etc
-flash EB01 rom of choice in cwm
-flash voodoo kernel in cwm
If using jt's aosp flash g apps before the kernel.
You should be all set after that.
Edit: you can disregard that bit about aosp, I thought it was EB01 based but it appears to be based on DL30.

If you back up the apps with titanium make sure to only back up downloaded apps. back up system apps or system settings (they are different colors in titanium) only if you have a specific reason to (like I back up the user dictionary and a couple other settings... ). restoring old versions of the system apps causes problems. So you could selectively back certain things up and restore them all or back everything up and restore things selectively.
Id say do it if you're patient and adventurous. The only con I've had is My battery life has suffered a lot (even after resetting bat stats with the script adrenalyn posted and cycling it properly, as well as experimenting with auto rotation off and all the other suggestions that have been going on) But every thing else is running like a dream. All the updated system apps are great, the new swype works a lot better, my signal bars seem more accurate, gps is locking in about a second... everything is smooth and quick and clean... etc. (I am using superclean)
I also have the luxury of having a car charger, a work charger and a charger by my bed at night... so since I'm one of the people experiencing battery issues... it also isnt that big of a deal to me. I was getting about a day and a half to two days before and now I'm getting about three quarters of a day.
I appreciate all the recommendations so far.
Just what would be the advantages of upgrading to Froyo? Is it just the "latest thing out" attraction or what?
