What day did they start this? Any BB source? Wanna make sure the 16th is covered since that is when I purchased it...
Also if anyone tries out the Nexus S after December then they are going to be hit with this $80 fee right?!

No restocking fee effective this Saturday.

I was in there looking at laptops and was told the same for laptops. No restocking fee, well at least in the DFW market. Might be different depending on market location

http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/19/best-buy-nixes-restocking-fees/

Just look at the back of the receipt. It doesn't state anywhere about a restocking fee for mobile phones.

Wirefly, no activation fee, 8/23 only.

For the rest of the day you get no activation fee ($36) when you buy the Epic 4G.
They only charge $239 for the phone to begin with. Given that I live in CA my savings were:
Tax: $28
Activation Fee: $36
Discount: $10
Total: $74 saved
Also I am not sure if I will get it but entering code WIREFLYBLUE22 should give you a free Bluetooth headset. People are reporting a 83% success rate on the site I found the code listed.

the only good thing i see on wirefly is the MIR(or at least they say about it), with sprint you still gotta go thru that annoying process.
anybody know if you can use wirefly to UPGRADE your phone?
Im due for an upgrade with Sprint, but i want to get this price from wirefly.

Yea, from what i can tell its the same price if you are renewing your contract. 239.99.......... I didnt see anything about the activation fee though. Check it out http://www.wirefly.com/eCommerce/ph...lag=&zipcode=&refcode1=&refcode2=&eid=&agent=
what should I expect on the release date if I get my phone from sprint? 349.00 then 100.00 MIR? I'm trying to conclude if the wirefly way is a smarter way to go.

Yup, thats going to be your out the door price. You could always try Best Buy or radio Shack to get the instant rebate at the counter
Tax with sprint or any other store at that will charge tax off of the base price not the discounted price I believe, thats over 40 bucks in CA.
So look for no taxes, if you are worried about that.

I bit the bullet with Wirefly. My advice for anyone else considering this option is make sure you understand exactly what they are doing with your Sprint account. Somehow the call center ppl put the wrong plan after I had told them many many times how I wasn't looking to change the plans on my account at all.
Has anyone else had good experiences with this company? They seem like a lot of frustration
Wirefly is sketch. They have this bull**** 6 month rule when you cancel your new contract within 6 months with any of the carriers, then they bill you $300 for "equipment recovery fee". So, for Verizon, I got hit with $375 from Verizon for ETF and $300 from Wirefly for a ****ing Droid 1 that I bought for $189. Do the math. They ****ing tried to rape me. AND, on top of that, they charged $300 to the same debit card I used to do the original transaction about EIGHT MONTHS after I originally did business with Wirefly. They did that illegally without my permission. They had paper billed me for it and I was telling myself "no way they're getting $300 when the phone was only worth $449".. then a $300 charge from "Simplexity" shows up on my bank statement.
Hate Wirefly. And, their "discounts" aren't even ****ing discounts. $10 off a phone? Give me a break.
I got the phone from Wirefly. I knew going into it the 6 month rule and I do not plan on making any changes or cancelling in that time. Also they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so I can return in 30 days without issue.
I know they have a bad rep, but here is why I got it from them anyway.
No tax in California
Amazon only does new contracts
A free bluetooth headset(see OP)
Ships on the 31st
No rebate to deal with, $239.99 was exactly what they charged.

I'm not sure how long it will take, they had a overnight, 2 day, and free shipping options. I went with free. I did notice Amazon says "Ships in 7-8 days" so they are not even shipping on the 31st.
Good luck everyone who went this route. I chickened out and decided to not go with wirefly. I'm glad I didn't, they are sketch and I don't like dealing with online chats and outsourced call centers for "customer support"
Pretty nice feature.

Samsung Epic 4G $199.99 on Amazon.com

EDIT: The phone seems to be back in stock online. Still says ships in 8-9 days.
Amazon.com just got the EPIC 4G on their site for preorders, it's $199.99 with new contract, or $499.99 without any service. Best deals I've seen anywhere. If these don't sell out, I bet it'll hit $150 by september 1st. This is just great if you are a new customer on Sprint.

Kinda blows if you're an existing one though...
Does sprint allow you to cancel and then sign up as a new contract? Because of the pro-rating of their cancellation fees, it would be significantly cheaper to get the discounted Amazon phone (even better if it follows the other Galaxy S phone pricing) than it would be to buy the unsubsidized Epic.

You mean cancel your current sprint plan, then take the amazon.com epic deal with a brand new contract? I think you can do that. However like you said, there is the prorated early termination fee, and you also need to consider that you would of course lose your current phone number. You could of course also switch to a prepaid account with some other carrier for a week or so though, and just port your number over a lot, but that could be a bit risky/flawed.
If you wanted to buy a cheap amazon epic 4g then cancel right after though, you'd pay a ton, amazon.com would hit you with early cancel charges, as would sprint.
If you cancel your contract, you have to wait 90 days before you can qualify for new customer pricing on devices.

Yes, I meant the first part. Cancel my sprint contract (and risk losing the #), then rejoin sprint on the cheaper (possibly much cheaper) amazon phone deal. Switching phone numbers isnt always a bad thing.
$199 wow! Way to stick it to Wirefly and their cheapo $10 off price.
I'm currently on the $30 SERO plan, and converting to either a 5-line EPRP, or a 5-line corporate discount plan. I guess there's no way in hell I can do either one thru Amazon.

Aha, thanks for the definitive answer. Could a family member qualify immediately? We don't share a last name.
Oh man Amazon is annoying, is there any way to see the final review order page without submitting the credit check info? I'd assume they don't actually perform the credit check until you submit the order, but I'd rather not take that risk, especially just to see a check-out price! I just want to see if they charge taxes and activation.

It has to go under someone else's social security number. That's all.
It says "currently unavailable" now...
this should be the sprint price for it, no mail in rebate.
I'm kinda regretting reserving through Radioshack now!
$250 + taxes comes out to around $270. I'm assuming Amazon will provide Prime shipping and next day shipping being around $20 bucks.
Can't refund the $50 deposit i put for the pre-order through Radioshack either. :|
How much is Sprint's early contract termination fee?
im trying to buy it on amazon. apparently there's no option to add a new line to an existing account. if there is can some1 point me out to it. all im seeing are the options to buy it for 500 as an existing customer or 199 as a new customer

radioshack has 10 dollar off coupons, so its 240 + tax. I would do amazon, but with 2 phones, it will be a hassle, so I'm doing radioshack for ease of return if there are any problems.

From what I was told at the Sprint store, its a total of $240 early termination, or $10 a month, for each of the 24 months of the 2 year contract.
The longer you have the contract, the lower the termination fee is.
Does Amazon charge an activation fee of $36 per line? Also has anyone purchased from them before? Just wondering if they would actually ship the phone on 8/31 and if the return policy is any good? Thanks in advance.

People getting off contract in store on Tuesday

post your experiences here and let us all know how it goes...were you able to get $399? $499? did the employees know what they were doing or was it a huge hassle? if you had to argue/explain/haggle your way to a certain price fill us in on how, why, etc... and let us know of any other issues someone going later in the week should be wary of if any....
Called a shop in Atlanta yesterday and the guy said "499, eehm, no wait, 399." A friend of mine is picking one up for me to bring to Germany, told him he can go up to 499 if it's deadly necessary..
I talked to one of my local stores and was told $499....
just bumping this up for tomorrow...or today if anyone's lucky....
The stores here said.they were getting.them tomorrow; ill call one now and see what the pricing is; if I can get it for 400 off contract ill do that.

All I know is if I ordered through the premier site (business line) I qualified for an immediate 100 discount, which means I would get the same discount in stores. Could be the fact that I have a business line, but I'm not sure.
Granted, it looks like I'll be buying mine at a 3rd party reseller today since he's supposed to get it in stock and always does a sale before the release date if he can.
Also as far as I know it's $299 before a $100 MIR and AT&T lets you get the rebate on an off contract device if you have the qualifiers for data also. Which I will since I have my data plan and messaging plan.
naturefreak,
Have you found any stores local to you that are willing to sell you the phone today? I'm headed to Town Center in a couple hours..
My local store is selling it for $499 off contract OR $199 plus a $200 dollar upgrade fee. So buying off contract would cost me about 533 with tax, the other option would be about 412 but lock me into another 2 years. decisions decisions.
Pay $499 and submit the rebate for $100 back... that's what I'd try at least. As long as you have a qualifying voice/data plan I don't see why the rebate company would deny your $100 rebate...

Nothing in Boca, Phone Super Store in Boynton is supposed to get it today. I've got myself on their list. They should call me the moment it arrives, I'm happy I work around the corner from there.
I'm not too worried either way. I plan on showing the lady in the store tomorrow that I can order it on Premier and get an instant $100 discount and see what she says. If she gives me a hard time I'll just pay the $100 and submit the rebate form. I'm pretty sure the rebate company will give me the $100, but if by chance they don't.. no big loss. Data activation question

My Xoom is bought through Costco, they have a $35 rebate. Hypothetically if I were planning on using data ever, it would be worth it to pay for the first month and get the rebate, rather than cancelling now correct?
If i cancel now and decide one month I want data, I will have to pay the activation fee at least once correct?
Correct.

Out of curiosity, Did the iPad have an activation fee?
Does whatever I decide to do with the month to month have anything to do with the costco return period as well?

Did you read it? For you to get the MIR you have to have data for 3 months. As for the activation fee, if the device is without service for 60 days you will have to pay the fee. This is regardless of rather you have paid it before or not.

Not sure on the ipad, but costco has 90 days for a return policy, regardless of what you do with the service terns. Essentially treated as 2 different purchases with different terms, the hardware being 90 days.

I have the sheet in front of me, it's vague at best.
"This rebate is contingent to your monthly service. Should you cancel or return your device the rebate will not be honored"
I figure the contract was likely written for cell phone contracts, not month to month.
Thanks

Nexus 4 return policy???

does anyone know..return policy for google store?
Restocking fee in the USA doesn't apply elsewhere I think. In the UK we are protected by the distance selling regulations so we can return within 7 days after using the device for a full refund probably minus shipping.

The return policy is detailed here:
http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2411741#US
What's a restocking fee anyway? Never heard of it before this and another thread in these forums. Do they seriously charge you to return items in the USA? Ouch! For once, UK customers get the better deal! Surprising as that hardly ever happens!
The restocking fee isn't all that prevalent here in the US, but it's mostly for larger items such as cell phones. In regular stores they're relatively uncommon, from my experience. Either way, my credit card (Discover) saves me the restocking fee, so it's not an issue at least for me.

You're charged a restocking fee if you return an item after opening it and it has no defects. Generally if the box is unopened or if the item is defective, there is no return fee. This only applies at some stores.

Yikes, 60 bones to return it just cause you don't like.....I'd fight it with my visa. Something about not given what was promised or the like.
