SSometimes when im sending a texts like my "a" would be unresponsive for a few seconds. Or when im in landscape my my space does the same thing. Any one else experience these problems?
yep, mine does. Sometimes the screen becomes unresponsive when I try touching it.
Mine does, but only on a flash heavy website.
yea, I went through 2 nexus S's with defective screens like this. I've already made a thread about this awhile back. Anyway, go back and get a replacement, it's defective. Keep going back until you get a NS with a perfectly functioning screen.

The home button on my Samsung Vibrant seems to stop working at times.
Sometimes it works when the light turns on, at other times it only responds with the light off.
Then sometimes it works normally, and sometimes it doesn't respond at all.
Everything else seems to be working fine; no blue screen tint, GPS is ok, not phenomenal, but this is frustrating, when the home button does not operate as it should.
Is it worth it to go and return it for an exchange, as I am still within the 14 day window?
Or should I just keep it and go with what I have?
If you feel that the device is honestly defective, then yes, exchange it =P

My worry is that I'll get a even more defective device, than what I have now.
Everything else seems to work fine though...
It's just that if the home button is acting like this now, I wonder how it'll be like 6 months from now.
Whats the point of the poll?
Anyway, do you have a screen protector on the phone covering the touch keys? I have heard some screen protectors reduce the sensitivity. If you are within your return period might as well exchange it to get a fully functional device.

zagg made mine not very responsive. I took that crap off and they work like they should. Hell, the screen is scratch resistant ( not proof) so just be carefull and you can feel the real screen and looks better too....
Screw protector on capacitive buttons...
What terrible build quality, to make screen protectors lower sensitivity so much that people notice.
Anyway, I had my first otherwise-perfect-Vibrant replaced cause the settings key stopped working properly. I noticed on my third (!) Vibrant the touchkeys become a tad bit more unresponsive after applying my InvisibleShield but it is still usable.
I had the same problem with the second Vibrant I had. The problem would get progressively worse until it would not work at all. Hitting the power button and then waking the phone again seemed to "reset" the process, but the problem was still there. I returned it for a new phone with no problems. I would recommend the same for you.
I had a problem with home button, with and without screen protector. Replacement unit is working well. With Realook sp, it works well. Not as responsive as bareback, but definitely not noticeable enough to be an issue. Get a replacement unit asap.
yeah, i'm noticing i have the same problem and also it does seem to get better with a reset. or leave the phone a while and then pick it up 15 minutes later and it's fine... like something running in the background causing THAT button to be laggy, but the back button works fine always. no screen protector on mine. is Tmo giving out refurbs yet or will i get a NEW unit? Go into the store or do i have to call 611?
I think that the exchange is worth it, I did that in my 14 day period too. I exchanged because of the trim squeaking and I'm glad I did because it's nice to have stock phone over.
There is already a 9 page topic discussing this issue.
I had this issue on my first Vibrant, except it was the Menu capacitive button that starting getting unresponsive. It eventually got to the point that I had to physically tap on it with some force to get it to respond. Since I had the blue screen tint issue on that one as well I had it replaced. My second Vibrant has great capacitive buttons and perfect screen tint. It was a little flakey at first, but since I re-flashed the stock firmware it seems perfect now.

The capacitive buttons unresponsive issue? Yes, there is a thread on that but it might be difficult to find in a search because the title says menu button. Maybe the title can be changed for easier searching?
To the OP: I had this problem on Vibrant #3 and I exchanged it. It seems to be a hardware problem or at least a problem that won't get any better with time. I had the TMo rep check for this issue on the new phone before he completed the exchange. The first new one he brought out of the stock room had a similar problem right out of the box. It had the same ship date (7/10 I believe) as the one I was exchanging. The replacement phone hasn't really shown any problems.
So I don't have the standard back button unresponsive problems. However, I have a problem where my back button randomly triggers. It only seems to happen with the keyboard tray out, and without touching any keys or the screen, it will go off, sometimes multiple times in a row.
Is this just a random hardware defect or a known issue? Anyone else encountering this problem?

i do, search also
hmm, wow I have this problem as well. It's annoying but nothing that has affected me enough to want to return the phone.. yet.
I loathe to think I have to put up with it for another year until the next phone I get, it's bearable as long as it doesnt worsen on me and start happening more frequently. I know phones will always have problems, but defects like this make me question ever spending so much on a phone. If you are going to charge 200+ for a phone the QC/build should be top notch IMO.
I contacted Samsung and they want me to send the phone into them for repair. 2 days to ship, 2 days to look at it, 2 days to return it to me. 6 days for them to look at what probably will amount to a software problem similar to the EVO 4G's unresponsive top screen due to grounding. At least, that's my guess.
Recently (starting hours ago) When i try to text and use the physical keyboard it jumps around. It may scroll up the message or go over to send or things like that. I have taken my screen protector off (great, now i buy another one) and wiped it all down but it still does it.
I also reset it a few times.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I am getting the same thing. I think something is conducting on the capacitive screen as when I set the phone down or don't touch it at all, this never happens.
So should i exchange it?
I don't know. Like I said mine seems to do the same thing. I am not sure if it requires exchanging or if my fingers are brushing the side in a way they shouldn't. I'm open for suggestions myself
Hmm no mine just jumps up the text page like it scrolls the chat message up even if nothing is touching the screen.
Same thing here. Used to happen with my old myTouch but it was after a couple months of use. Uncool for it to happen on the G2 just after the 14 days have passed.
It is probably the capacitive pad thats not working right. Its probably detecting heat and scrolling on its own.
Yes get a replacement.
It's the touchpad. Move to a room with different lighting and try again.
I second the touchpad. It messes me up in the terminal by sending special characters.

I did notice it was the light now. Still does it sometimes tho.
Thanks. What do you guys mean by captive ? Heat ?
Mine does this randomly too, and I've also concluded it's the trackpad. One time I went to my home screen while it was doing it and I could watch the selection scrolling from left to right.
Haven't figured out how to fix it, usually if I lock then unlock the phone it works fine.
Mine just started doing this today. I was sitting under the A/C and i noticed whenever i would try to swype during SMS text messaging, it would highlight "Send" in orange or it would highlight and scroll up the text thread. After I moved away from the A/C, it stopped doing this. my trackpad has been fine and I have never had any issues prior to this or even after moving away from the A/C vent.
This trackpad works on heat I would guess or like others have said, possibly electrical ground current which is probably by a grid I would imagine.
Thats kinda bad for you guys. I havent had this problem at all but seems like a trackpad problem. This happen to me on my g1 onces and that was a dirty trackball

Hello,
I've been having touch screen issues lately, since i rooted and switched to CM 6.1 a couple of weeks ago. The screen will work perfectly for a little while, but will inevitably stop responding. I'm using launcherpro, though i don't believe that's the issue- it happens regardless of which launcher I'm running (I've tried others and experienced the same issue. The optical scroll pad will still "sort of" work- better than the screen (which will respond to the occasional touch after the problem begins, but barely does). If I reboot, the problem will usually go away for a while again, but will recur. I wind up needing to fix the issue once or twice a day. I don't think it's a hardware problem because the reset fixes it, so I assume it is then software. Also, i don't remember having this problem with the stock rom. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
Dunno how useful this will be, but have you tried reflashing CM?

Same problem here. But I've noticed sometimes if I'm using the phone not in my hand (on car dock or just on table) this problem seems to happen more...but when I hold it in my palm then works fine.
But sometimes it just becomes unresponsive. Am running virtous's rom on my g2. But I can remember having the same issue when running cm on my g1 days too. Reboot always fixed it, just gets annoying.
Anyone have fixes to this? Thanks!!

I personally use GV 7 or sparksmod and. Never had a problem, these are the best roms I think for this phone.

Been having this exact problem for weeks now. And I believe it is a hardware problem, probably some sort of short in one of the ribbon cables or the digitizer itself. Occasionally, actually 85% of the time I'd try to open an apparently and the phone would act if I held my finger down and then the apparently icon gets selected...very annoying cus it happens over and over a couple times, all I can do is keep trying until it does what its supposed to. Also with the on screen keyboard when I'm texting it'll act like I'm holding down on one of the letters and keeps bringing up the special characters to that letter...or ill tap delete to delete a spelling error and it'll end up holding it down and deleting my whole damn text and I can't stop it.
At first when this first started happening I could simply tap the screen and it would stop the crap it was doing and work fine. As time went on I noticed I kept having to hit it harder and harder for it to correct it. Wellllll guess what? Last night it was acting up horribly and I slammed my closed hand against it while it was on the desk and it cracked the LCD screen and now the phone is completely useless, even though the outer touchscreen is perfectly fine.
The restarting of the phone also usually fixed it for me as well but only for a few minutes.. which also makes me think its a short because after the phone is turned off whatever part is shorting out, that circuit is closed and just takes time until you press on the screen in whatever spot to cause the two parts to touch and create the short all over again.
Anyways that's my story...just don't get angry and slam down on the screen lol. This is my 2nd G2 and I'm tired of it, probably just going to get a nexus s or just go back to the nexus one, atleast it was reliable.

if you open the battery cover u can see that there are connectors that closes the whole circuit, so when u are holding the phone the back cover works like a grounding area that makes the screen responce to your touch. Acapacitive screen works like this: when you touch in any area on the screen, you simply are breaking the electrical field that the screen has, the screen "feels" where u break it and tells the operating system.
the electrical field depends on the human body a bit to make the circuit complete, so when u touch the metal parts of the phone, the screen works like it is designed.
Got a Nexus 7, 8GB, SSN starts with C60.
I can clearly tell that when I push down on the left side of the screen, there's a little bit of give. Sometimes I can wait and hear the sticky tape let go also. ...So I have the screen separation problem, right?
Also, sometimes when I'm using it and it starts to warm up, the screen becomes less responsive. VERY frustrating in NOVA3 when I can't even keep moving straight forward because the screen stops thinking that I'm touching it. ...So I have the overheating digitizer issue too, right?
I contacted Google and they sent me out a replacement (this SSN also starts with C60). Everything about the order said "new", but I swear the box has been re-taped. Is this a "new" device? Also, lo and behold, the screen issue is exactly the same on the replacement!! I looked online and found a YouTube video that shows separation that the owner calls "slight" and it is WAY worse than mine. I'm just a perfectionist and I thought Google and Asus would have been too.
I haven't even turned the thing on but I'm wondering if I keep my first one or keep the second one...
1. Is the replacement truly new?
2. Which SSNs are supposed to have had the separation issue resolved?
3. Is my screen separation completely normal?
4. Are my digitizer problems completely normal also?
Thanx in advance. I only have a couple weeks to return one of them....
Well it doesn't seem like anybody cares so far but after rooting and configuring the new one I've decided to keep it. It doesn't seem to get slower when playing games and the screen has remained responsive the whole time.
Thanx for your help everybody!
