Does the froyo mobile hotspot works on an unlocked Droid 2 global? Let's say in Chile with a chilean SIM?
(On my nexus one using 1900 mhz Entel Chile works well)
Yes, buid in one works fine.
But you need to create APN for the tethering "dun" type.
D2g will not let you create it manually due to Verizon restriction but you can use app from market (apn backup restore) to backup existing ones, edit on your computer to add the type, then restore. Works perfectly on my Rogers Droid 2 Global
You don't even need root to implement the 'hack'. If you have root, you don't need any app, just edit straight on the phone.

Leobg would u be so kind and briefly tell me the procedures to get that mobile hotspot working on my d2g with Rogers? I dunno what that dun type is, I tried googling it but failed thank u very much in advance!!

I cant seem to find a working sbf for the US. When I flash the UK I get a black screen, when I flash personal Argentina I get everything but I have no service. Can someone help me please? My network is the same as att. the Argentina says that the network is not supported.
Well, you may be out of luck as of now. If your baseband is not same as Personal Argentina (or similar LatAm ROMs) for which there is no root, you can't use baseband switcher and may just have to wait until those ROMs get a root option.
So there is no way back to my original sbf?

No, at least not yet... You can't root nor apply other sbf, you're stuck with it until someone finds a way to change it.
Is it not possible to root through sbf files? I cant believe I spent all this money and now I have a paper weight.

It's not possible... You can look at the discussion about Vivo BR and Personal AR In This Thread, although there's no solution yet.
OK, so will having another country's sbf make you now be able to use the phone? I get "Mobile Network not available".

What's your carrier?
Brazil uses 850/900/1800 bands for GSM and 850/2100 bands for 3G.
Argentina uses the 850/1900, the same band AT&T uses.
I've been in the US and used my milestone 2 in AT&T network without any problem. It won't work in T Mobile, since it uses 1700/2100.
Try with an AT&T (or one MVNO which uses their network, like H2O Wireless) sim card to see if works.
Maybe you could try using Vivo BR sbf. Our phones in Brazil are all carrier unlocked nowadays.

I'm using Straight Talk which is on the ATT network. I have not been able to get the phone working no matter what I try. I have checked the settings over and over.
A friend of mine got a Sprint S4 but he wishes to use it with a GSM Carrier.
First couple things I noted are:
1) No SIM Card Contact Management, had to use an App to copy all to phone
2) Cannot find GSM APN settings to manually enter
Is it possible to flash a stock International i9500 ROM over this to alleviate the issues with using a mainly CDMA version?

I do not believe you can flash an international ROM to this phone unless you want a pretty paperweight. But there are some tutorials to unlock your SIM to be able to use on other carriers, here is where I'd start. However if he's on a Knox bootloader I think the chance is next to zero for using it on GSM because you have to 'go back' to MDC to do some required stuff.
If he wanted to use a gs4 on a GSM network he should have gotten a GSM version not a CDMA

It is actually already unlocked as he can use Voice etc just a bit tricky to get the APN settings to work for 3G...
I'm moving to Australia soon and need GSM to work when I get there. My RAZR M was unlocked when I got it (mobile network settings were set to global) and I was wondering is GSM worked by default or if I had to change anything before hand. Any reply would be greatly appreciated. The only thing I've seen is an APN xml file for 4.0-4.4 but I doubt it will work since I am out of that range (6.0) and there are no APN settings even present in the Lineage settings menus. I need it to work with Telstra.

Nothing? really?
Hi XDA,
I've been reading up and following guides to root using DirtySanta. I just finished downgrading from 16B to 13A, and just about to start the root process.
However, I'm confused about afterwards how to get the right kernels/roms that I'm looking for. I read from this thread that I need a US995 ROM installed with a konvergence kernel (is this correct?) to enable me to get Tmobile LTE signal.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/verizon-lg-v20-vs995-poor-network-t-t3539491/page3
But since this thread is a bit dated...
- I want to know what are some recommendations for current US995 ROMs? Looking for either STOCK (restock?) or something that is recommended to many.
- Can someone point me to a kernel that is appropriate for what I'm looking for?
- A guide to installing kernels?
Thanks!
You can flash any rom you will get lte regardless, though you cant do Voice over lte. Make sure you have the proper Apn setting. Your verizon rom should only need to be switched to global mode and add the right apn for it to work, i used my ls 997 with a verizon rom, for my gsm carrier and it worked perfectly fine, just need like i said , the right apn settings.
how did u flash a verizon rom on your LS997?

Hey guys, I could use a little help here. I've done some firmware flashing on phones years ago, so I'm not a total noob, just haven't needed to in a long time.
Anyway, I recently picked up an unlocked Sprint S7 edge (was a really good deal) and I'm trying to use it with Metro now. The issue is this. If I set the network to GSM mode, I can make phone calls just fine, but data is totally not functioning. If I switch it to LTE/CDMA mode, the data works beautifully, but I can't make or receive any phone calls. It just instantly hangs up if I try to dial out or goes to voicemail if someone calls me.
I've activated the IMEI with my carrier and verified that the phone is indeed unlocked. I'm guessing this is just some annoying Sprint bug put in there to make the phone not work right on other providers. Any ideas what needs to be done? Do I need to run a third-party ROM, flash a different modem to it? Something else?
I really appreciate any tips here.
What firmware is the phone running?

Hi Ivpre,
Thanks for responding. The phone is running Software version G935PVPU6BRD2, baseband version G935PVPU6BRD2, it's HW revision 7.0 and Android 7.0. Kernel version is 3.18.31-12623509.
I've tried using a few SM-G935U ROMs but they all have failed so far and left the phone in a boot loop. Only by reflashing a Sprint ROM am I able to successfully flash it.
I assume I'm just not selecting or finding a ROM that the same or newer version, as I've read about the downgrade issues with the bootloader. Any idea how to match one? I'd be fine with pretty much any ATT/T-Mobile/Metro ROM since that should fix my issue for the time being. A factory unlocked ROM would be nice though.
I have a T-Mobile Sim (same network Metro uses) in my unlocked Sprint S7 Edge. Network mode is set to Automatic and everything works fine.
Did you Add the APN for T-Mobile? I had to add the T-Mobile APN https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28006
And the ALSO add a second APN named internet, with no other values changed. The 2nd one is the one selected, not sure why, but it works that way.
I would like to flash a T-Mobile Rom or the U Rom but they are on Baseband 4, which will not work since our phones are now on Baseband 6(5th number from the right in the firmware version.)
Did you try changing the APN settings?

So you are using the Sprint firmware on T-Mobile? Everything works well? I'm thinking of jumping to cricket this summer, but one phone is stuck on b5 (the other is still rocking 4), so I was a little worried. So basically you just put in the SIM card and added the APN's?

Yes it was working fine with a T-Mobile Sim card and edited APN's. It is now back on Sprint because T-Mobile coverage is poor/non existent inside my work. I will be porting one of my SERO lines to T-Mobile but keeping one with Sprint. T-Mobile only uses Band 2 and 4 where I live, If you live somewhere that has band 12, it may not be unlocked in the Sprint Firmware.
