I had a thread on here a few days ago about my failed attempt that bricked it, luckily got help to get it to boot 2.2 again which was good.
I'm now wondering whether anyone has manged to successfully downgrade an O2 locked one from 2.2 to 1.6? Like I said I tried but couldn't get it to work, if anyone has managed it would love to know!
no one? I'd be surprised!

If you have the 1.6 recovery there should be no problem, plenty of threads floating around here and modaco that will have the 01 1.6 recovery and 1.6 ROM
I can go from 2.2 Dell unlocked down to 1.6 noooo problem so it should be ok for you on 02 Its all to do with the recovery just make sure you have the right one

Just picked up the dell streak from Rogers ... and going to upgrade to dj steve's build 1.3. Before I even attempt to do this I am trying to find info. on how to backup the stock recovery.
I can not find any information on how to backup the stock recovery... I have not seen the stock recovery for download with this build 1.6 build 7921 either.
I would like to do this just incase I have to put the phone back to stock to return the device... so if some one can point me in the right direction that would be great.
I thought fastboot would help me in my quest to backup the stock recovery but nothing that I can see would do such a thing.
The other thing is I have not seen 1.6 build 7921 stock rom either so I would assume that I need to install clockwork recovery and backup my rom using nandroid?
I believe these are the only 2 things I need if something messes up and I need to return the phone back to stock?
Thanks,
chunkd
Anyone?

BUMP ~ in the same boat here, want to be able to downgrade back to 1.6 and upgrade with the ota update when it becomes available. Anyone?
same boat..
i cant get the build 7921 to the O2 build either
I am on rogers. no problems doing it. it took a while for me to figure it out. basically you have to go to o2 1.6 then up to 2.1.. then 2.2.
I have also successfully downgraded back to 1.6 (when i was on 2.1). But there is no reason to ever want to run an official dell build when steve's builds are so much better.

how did you get onto O2 1.6? any guide that will work from 7921? thanks
I followed one of the guides on here. you should find a 1.6 US to 1.6 O2 guide somewhere. The thing that screwed me up was getting the right drivers for windows. that was a biggie. took me a few hours of reading to finally figure it out.
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-dell-streak-android-1-6-with-online-kitchen/
this might help. i cooked my own custom 1.6 rom before upgrading to 2.1. I had a problem with the flashing buttons because i had my baseband mixed up. so downgrading back to 1.6 with a custom firmware fixed it. then i updated to 2.1.
then i flashed this:
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...r-the-dell-streak-android-2-1-online-kitchen/
read through the thread. for both flashes you require a specific recovery utility. and the corresponding baseband. And some knowledge of fastboot and installing a custom recovery menu.
There is a bit of a learning curve but once you set it up flashing new updates is a 5 minute procedure.
I wish i can sort out all of the exact files used but i downloaded so many different ones trying to get my streak going and i am now unsure of the exact files used. It just took me a lot of trial and error. Also got stuck in the boot loop a few times...
there is lots of threads on here. i suggest you do lots of reading. it took me a good solid 12 hours of playing around to finally get it going. mind you i am completely new to android phones and flashing... Believe me i was frustrated quite a few times thinking i bricked my phone. But be patient and do lots of reading.
sorry i can't help anymore then that.

Flash this Recovery HERE
Then Flash this System HERE
And all should be ok
it doesn't go in fastboot o recovery
it remain only with black screen like the streak in the video...
If you cannot get to fastboot then you need to contact dell

Yes it should do hopefully it will change your baseband to 00 then you can flash OK if that does not work then you need to go to Steve's thread and flash 1.1.1 then update to Steve's 2.2 or dells 2.2 any more probs just let us know and hope it goes OK

YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME. I LOVE YOU MAN!!! IT WORKED 2.2 official build. Do I have to worry about anything? My original build was att 1.6 locked with BB-31.
Hey Lucf,
Now that I got the 2.2 official froyo how do I improve quadrant score. Right now I am at 853.
the only thing that works is the Qualcomm Diagnostic and the QDLTool but the dell still no work...

So I was having a similar issue, and just tried to run my phone into the recovery mode. After selecting update to the .pkg file from sd card, phone went black.
I'm going to try this again and do a battery pull to take it out of this state, hopefully it works.
Also, did you just put the 00 baseband on and flash straight to 1.5, or did you go to 1.1.1 and then to 1.5?

Actually this process that lucf explained puts you on official froyo 2.2. I tried to get on steves froyo but that is whats screwed up my streak. The process above saved it.

Hi I would like to upgrade my father & a friend's Streak. They are both running US AT&T. I had messed with mine for 1 whole day before I could get to Froyo. I went to O2 1.6, then was stuck trying to get the 8105(O2 2.1) I eventually installed Froyo by using the CLEAN UNTOUCHED method.
I am not trying to go through this nightmare again!!!! Can anyone tell me if I install the 309 recovery image, then use Update.pkg with the 318 update if it will take them straight from 1.6 to 2.2. Or if I just perform the CLEAN UNTOUCHED method posted by DJ Steve will that work coming from ATT 1.6?
Install o2 1.6 and then it will tell you there is an update. it will download and install 02 2.2 for you
Thanks, I hope its that EASY!!!
After I install the O2 update, can I just upgrade using the 318 package, so that his phone shows as a unit ending in 00 baseband, instead of being tied to O2 network? Do you know if installing the O2 update will give him the 309 recovery?

What i would do is once you have upgraded i would put the 309 recovery on then run the 318 update no need to run the 02 2.2 update
The best and cleanest route is to use QDL Tool to go straight from ATT 1.6 to ATT 2.2 build 308 then apply the 318.pkg
whole process should only take about 30 minutes.
Tool can be found here: streakdroid DOT com /?page_id=15[/url]
its called repairtool on the right column
I tried the QDL tool, but since I have a windows 7 & 64 bit, there was a lot of driver changes that I needed to apply. Once I successfully had that installed it showed the QUALCOMM modem, but didn't show up as DIAGNOSTIC. So when I connected the Streak it showed up as some port.....but not what I needed it to show as.

This is a confusing post LUFC What am I upgrading to in the 1st place? Are you saying once I have O2 4399, then flash 309 recovery, then 318 Update.pkg?

Tied to the o2 network? OK, so what's the disadvantage of being tied to the o2 network?
Hmmmm maybe I should go back to o2 2.1 and upgrade to 18 instead of 19? I remember seeing some tweaked kernel files thread that might help this thing run better.

Nevermind, really, im sticking to what ive got until the official us version comes out. So, another 6 months then
I would advise against that Carhigh....You would be missing out on all the wonderful capabilities of the Streak and Android 2.2. What Baseband & version of Android do you have installed now?
I'm already on o2 2.2, 619 I think. The one released last week. I was wondering why people are going to 618, instead of the over the air 619, which is what I did. And instead of screwing around with it, might as well wait for official us 2.2 then just go to that. Shouldn't be to long of a wait, but who knows how long it will really be. Unless going fro 619 to 618 is really worth it.......

Hi, I am having large problems going from O2 1.6 to Rogers 1.6. Please help me as I need to return it to its original state for warenty purposes.
What are the problems? Can you not use Clockwork to restore it to the Rogers build?
Edit: Oops, I mean stock recovery since it's a pkg and not a zip.
Out of curiosity why would you want to go from rogers 1.6 to 02's 1.6 in the first place?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
He already gave a reason, warranty purposes. He's probably sending it in for repair and needs to remove all signs of rooting.

Oh ya I get it but 1.6 on Rogers and 1.6 on 02 aren't they similar? if not the same? That's why I'm asking, if you bought it from rogers (with 1.6) why would you want 02's 1.6?
Oh sorry, I misunderstood.

maybe he upgraded to a higher version and then downgrade it to O2 1.6 (cuz i dont see a post on downgrading back to rogers 1.6)
and now he wants to repair the device and needs to restore it to rogers 1.6?
Wrong post
That is correct I went all they way to DJ_Steves 1.5.2. I can go to any of the O2 versions but I do not know how to go back to the original rogers.

If you can get into fastboot and recovery your fine. I recommend the qdl route personally.

Only way to upgrade the white dell streaks is with the qdl tool. Theres something about them... All other methods just leave you in a boot loop. Go to the guide section of streakdroid.com it has everything you need to get to 2.2, including a great video tutorial.

use QDL holmes, or better yet exchange it and get a black one. I could never get the white one to work. I eventually bricked it, took it back and got a black one. Never tried anything with the black one until last night, and it went flawlessly with QDL.

well you are going about this all backwards... first and foremost. You have a white streak, so the ONLY way to get 2.2 is through the QDL tool. Secondly, no matter what color the streak is, you cannot jump directly to one of steves builds from 1.6(donut). You flashed the 2.2 baseband, which is not compatible with your current stock rom, that will kill your data and phone connection amongst many other things. You need to go to streakdroid.com, take a look at the guides section and then upgrade via the QDL tool. That is your only way other than waiting for the OTA.
