Hi, I think HTC trophy is a great phone. WP7 is simply fast and responsive. However, i understand from various sites that WP7 has a built-in voip capability but I don't find it in the phone. Anyway, is there any VOIP app like Viber of Iphone ?

Hello ppl,
my and my classmate have windows mobile and symbian phone with bluetooth modules. Do you know any multiplatform software to chat using bluetooth? I've tried a lot of java apps on my WM (using Jbed) but they don't want to work (bluetooth class missing exceptions, many others just don't work).
Yes, since long time ago that I'm looking as well for a multiplatform bluetooth chat. I hoped Java to be the solution for that, but it looks like the JVM for WM doesn't manage well with Bluetooth:S
I would to install fring as IM program, but I see that on official site, blackstone ins't on the supported devices list...maybe the one for diamond works fine on hd?
I used Tpro
Fring works with the normal release... for my person, I don't like it.
Give a try to BeejiveIM or Palringo.
Or Nimbuzz, the only one that supports Facebook chat AFAIK.
does nimbuzz available on windows mobile? good, thx
which the best in your opinion nimbuzz o palringo?
i use nimbuzz
I use Nimbuzz firs day ang work. But there are some problem sometimes. Somtemes stop-working, ...
Here is video Nimbuzz on Touch HD:
http://www.youtube.com/v/xwcMBNfMA7A
xperia version works great on mine
Fring recently released a new version supporting earphone speaker for voice calls, rather than external speaker, as well as file transfer and other updates to bring it in-line with the S60 release.
Works nicely. Cab available at http://www.fring.com/cab.
Nimbuzz looks great but is hella slow when scrolling on the HD.
Fring works wonderfully... still trying to figure out how to make free phone calls.
Hi all,
In the next few days, I will order my new phone. It will be the N900 or the HD2.
Living permanently in a foreign country with my girlfriend in my home country, I need to stay connected to Skype and Gtalk 24/7 without app crash.
The N900 handles the 2 im systems natively and is very stable according to first testers.
I know that skype exists for winmo 6.5 devices but as I never owned a WinMo phone before I need your feedback about the reliability of the skype app on WinMo before making my decision.
Concerning GTalk, does the HD2 support it natively or, if not, is there a great (free or paying) app in order to stay connected to the google im service.
Regards,
Arnaud

if you are not worried about the N900, you don't have to worry about HD2. WinMO definitely has tons of more applications available and it is kinda funny that you are comparing WinMO to a device that has such a new platform which doesn't have any third party apps yet. Try IMPlus, it has everything you wanna to connect and chat. You need to pay for it, but it is worthed every pennies.
I am really getting tired of WM 6.5 and the in persistence / buggy experience... Just wanted to know if anyone is working on a port of android 1.6 or 2.0? And is it even possible to port given that it uses 800x480 and not 854x480 like the droid?
I would also be happy to try other non-android alternatives, if any exist? (and how about handling the danish dictionary or symbols(æøå) with alternative roms?)

What are you finding so buggy? What what on earth is an "in persistence experience"? :s
Its called the HTC Passion.. basically..
and it absolutely is going to be released....I have that first hand from my contact at Google who has actually handled the device.

Since all these unaware journalists have found a new hobby in bashing WinMo, everyone seems to get the "I am done with this buggy WinMo experience" Virus =
I so happy with 6.5 and my TG01 together with the 3.5.1 SPB Mobile shell it is a dream to work with it. Ok it is still no unbox- and just begin- experience, just still have to mod a bit but after a while its just great.
Iphone OS is nothing for me, an OS you need to jailbreak and fear to receive a worm like the one thats sneaking around the web the last days...
Although I don't like this ignorant world domination company.

Indeed. To stop these homicidal tendencies brewing in me when I read all this "oh if it only were an Android device" stuff, I can only wish they get their A+Snapdragon whatever sooner, so that they go to some other forums/threads to bug people there, but that time for real reasons - when they realize that trivial things like watching a movie can be a challenge.
I really like the HTC HD2 and it is the best phone hardware I have ever had between my fingers (both spec and design wise imo)
I too was kinda annoyed with all the reviews *****ing about 6.5... But after using the phone since release I can honerstly tell that it has some major flaws that my Hero didn't have - mainly because it runs WinMo 6.5 and not android.
Here is some of the reasons I wanna change to android:
- I have major problems sending and recieving messages (think HTC is working on this..)
- I have wait times when I want to write an sms - up to a minute (also a known universal problem with too many sms'es in your inbox)
- The "dictionary AI" is very, very bad compared to my HTC Hero
- Volume control is very buggy
- No good flash support like on my old Hero
- No good google- calender, email or youtube integration like on Hero
- No Android market with innovative apps like wikitude and ebuddy(facebook chat and good msn app + other im in one)
- no hardkeys for multitasking
I also want to mention that I need to softreset my HD2 once or twice a day simply because some functions (bluetooth, ui, com. manager, etc..) messes up the phone to either freeze, become slow or leave some functions not working... I have never had these problems with my Hero.
It might sound like I hate 6.5, but it has some advantages like leaving more advanced options to fittle around with, remote desktop, wifi-router and stuff like that, so ofc it comes with a price to put android on the HD2 =)

Google services integration is the only thing in your list that's relevant, plus there's no Android market, which is a dubious loss. Everything else is either design decisions or bugs introduced by HTC and have nothing to do with WM. How in the world would Android add hardware keys for multitasking to HD2? I can't say I always resist following hypes successfully, but this is just ridiculous.

Just throw your HD2 into the trashbin (or eBay ) and wait for HTC Dragon.
BTW: Don't you think youl could have more problems with a system that is constantly changing than with a system that is finished?
I made the expirience, that Linux-based systems can be a *****y thing too. Functions that work with one release don't work when you upgrade. I would (and I do) stick to WM because of that.
HTC is definitely working on the SMS problem... they've asked me to install logging software on my phone to help them identify the cause
As for the dragon, im afriad to say the instant the dragon is released my HD2 is going on ebay, the only reason i wanted it was because of the screen, and if there is an alternative, im getting it!

Yeah, I said that with the HTC Hero, which was a great device but Android is far from brilliant yet. Hopefully 2.0 will make things a lot better but don't you think most Android phones are just plain awful looks wise... Heres the Dragon v HD2
http://www.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/htc_hd2_htc_dragon-540x388.jpg
Looks, ill stick with HD2. Speed, i'd go with Dragon, but overall usability, i'll stick with the HD2.
People say the HD2 keyboard is poo, but so was the Hero's until the software update. Android is great, but its just too buggy at the minute and the fact a program can run in the background without you knowing and drain the battery in about 20 minutes is rubbish!
As the hardware is the same, I'm quite confident that when the Dragon is out, you'll see that port over to the HD2.
I'm thinking about Android .. task on background can ruin WM device too.
But does Android have good ebook reader ? Comic book reader ? AVI video player ? Good image viewer ? Control over data connection ? I'm afraid of these things ..
Does this mean we will be seeing a full version.....?
Better than not having any version. I am getting my phone today and Skype is very important part of it for me. I hope for the full version.

I do not think so... and I am not complaing for lack of Skype lite. Always you can use Fring. It's much, much better then Skype lite.
Skype was pulled from WM too. Something is up...
FRING ftw......
They may be doing something because of their huge promo with Verizon:
"Skype and Verizon Wireless are set to launch a new service, Skype mobile™ that enables customers to use Skype on a variety of best-selling Verizon Wireless BlackBerry® and Android™ 3G Smartphones."
Fring is ok for IM'ing, but skype out and calling over voip is very poor
Yeah, Fring for my Nokia N95 was phenomenal, but on Android the call quality sucked, bad, and it didn't support speakerphone on my N1.
I ended up switching to Nimbuzz when they added SkypeOut support in a recent update (a few weeks ago). The interface and Skype integration leaves something to be desired, but the call quality was an improvement over Fring-Android.

It's because of pour quality voice codec in Android, not because of Fring. I do not suppose, that new version of Skype would be better without new voice codec
No, fring is (at least was, havent tried in a while) really bad. Can't be Android's fault. I use sipdroid and this has excellent voice quality.
There's a news item in betanews to which I can't link to, it's about WM, but I think it's also relevant for android even though there's no mention of it.
