Hi there, just a quick question about phone memory.
I have a rooted Legend running a baked Rom with Apps2SD, but I am hovering around 20mb of free space on my phone, even though I have deleted most of my apps and moved others to SD.
I have had a look around the root folder, but is there something else I should be deleting to free up space?
My best guess is you did not wipe and install the custom ROM. You installed it over the earlier ROM which is occupying space.

I just wiped my phone and see all of my apps there because I installed them before to my sdcard.
But when I go to the Market, they are no longer in "my downloads." So... how do I know if an update comes out for them?
Thanks.
Do you use aTrackDog?
No. I don't know what That is...
I reccomed reinstalling all your apps as you may have an issue with running them properly. If you paid for an app you can download it again and they will show up in your "my downloads" atrackdog is a 3rd party program that will check for up dated versions of your apps by using a p2p like protocal. It works for apps that you have that are not on the market like wireless tether and g-arcade.
But really reinstall all your apps. Use atrackdog. You can manage them from there.
Just wondering... Won't this happen every time I wipe then? The apps still show up in the "drawer" where all the apps usually are, just not in the marketplace. So... if this does happen everytime you wipe (the phone, ), then what's the whole point of apps2sd? Please clarify. Thank you.
The point is to free up the phones internal memory and keep it from lagging when the free memory gets below 20mb. Also a sdcard class 6 is slightly faster than the internal memory. Besides would you rather have 80 megs total to download programs or 500 megs?I wouldn't want to have to uninstall last.tm to play a game
I get that... but... if I wipe the phone, the apps will show up again once I put the new rom on it. However, there's no way to check if the apps have been updated by the developer since your downloads no longer show up in the market's "my downloads." So... Is there a way to fix that or a way around that..?
Currently there is no known workaround
Use atrackdog. Its available in the market. It won't auto notify you. Personally I run it every few days and it works great. If an update is available you can go directly to the programs market page and install the update.
Edit: you can always reinstall them
start all over i guess.. i do this all the time just to try a rom
format Fat32/Ext2 both it will format installed apps.. ur paid apps will be there regardless
wipe
flash the build
set-up app2sd before installing ur apps
then start serching all the apps u had
yea its alot of work but atleast i see my apps updates
I did this (but didn't start downloading apps yet) and for internal storage in settings>sdcard/storage, it shows internal storage free space is 840mb. Is that normal? Its just reading my ext3 partition as the internal storage, right? I did NOT set up apps2sd files or anything yet, but when I installed one app I looked at the free space again and it went down under "internal storage" instead of sd card. That would be normal EXCEPT for the fact that the internal storage free space is showing 800 something megabytes...
PLEASE HELP- Thanks!

Its a bug in the build. As long as you have a ext2-3 partition. Any Rom that is a2sd enabled should see it automagically.
You did nothing wrong. Install any app and look in your system/sd/app folder and see if it is there. If its a paid app? Check system/sd/app-private
Thanks man- I really appreciate it. So far out of a many responses over many threads, you're the only one to give a response.

I recommend using the app -BackUp For Root Users- before wiping and flashing a new rom. On the second page is an option to backup and restore your Market Database file. I assume you can probably back up the same file using Terminal but I'm no expert on it, nor do I know the location of the Android Manifest file. If you save this file and restore it after a fresh install it will restore your My Downloads section in the Market and thus show you when updates are available.
As for currently, you'll have to reinstall your apps from the market first.
I have a freshly installed Stock Desire (cotulla's one). I installed it without a secondary ext partition and after install I had about ~50mb left on internal storage.
I installed apps2sd and moved what I could on sd card. However I also installed Igo and some other apps that only want to remain on internal storage. Now I have 2 mb left.
Desperately, I used qtadb to delete the default crap from /system/app/, that htc sense comes with. ( Friend stream, news widgets, etc)
After deleting them and rebooting, they don't apear in qtadb anymore but I still have the same amount of free space left.
What can I do next?
PS: It seems it's not rooted. I now have rooted it with z4root.
Sorry to bump this but I am confused. If I have 512 mb of NAND space, how come this 134 mb rom leaved me with 40 mb free?
I compared Desire and HD2 and they are listed to have the same amount of NAND space. So taking a desire rom replica into hd2 should work the same.
Anyone?

Sorry to bring up that thread.
Is there a solution for the problem?
I think that Cortullas stock rom is one of the smoothest Froyo builds.
Works like a charm. But like nemuro i also missed creating a ext. partition.
these days i only have 20mb free.
Is there a way to create an ext. partition afterwards, without reinstalling the whole system?
Thanks for your help...
Can anyone explain to me why when I have a 1Gb Ext4 partition on my SD card with only 367Mb used I am getting Low Storage warning when restoring my apps (143 of them) through Titanium Backup onto a clean HardDroid2 CM7 build with A2SD flashed and confirmed working? When I check it states 199Mb used, 13Mb free but when I use Root Explorer to look into SD-Ext I have App, Private App, Data, Dalvik, etc and all of the app APKs appear to be in there. Am I missing something here? I had the same issue for the first time a couple of days ago when I reflashed Hyperdroid - never had it before, and always do full Task29/fresh MAGLDR/fresh CWM/CWM wipe wipe wipe/etc for each new ROM so SD Ext is always reformatted too. It's driving me nuts
when you install an app, the size of that app gets knocked off the available space, but gets restored when you reboot, so try installing a few, check eth remaining space, then reboot, see if the reported space changes. (Ive never tested it myself, just repeating something i read)_
..also using app2sd and my phone mem seems to decrease also.
When i look into /data and /sdext i see in both the app folder with all apps installed.
but the used space seems to be bigger on the sd-ext.
...when you install e.g. Angry birds with 20 mb you will notice that your internal storage will NOT decrease to that amount: thats the reason why the data folder is smaller than the sd ext.
Seems so that parts of the apps are stored on the phone mem although we ve got app2sd with an sd ext.
Once i tried to delete that data folder, but then all apps stopped working.
In twyeens rom you can move your apps to sd, there was a fix some months ago, so that all apps runs fine from it also e.g. angry birds.

hi,
i have a storage issue that i'll like to ask the gurus.. I've just moved from PSX's v8.5 (4.3) to PSX v3 (4.4) and along the way, I've made numerous backups just in case. after flashing v3 and hellscore b43, i ran into a storage space issue where my N4 told me i had insufficient space to install more apps, to work system functions, anything. Ive attached a screenshot of my storage, but it seems to be there is a good 5-6gb of space unaccounted for? i have v little songs in my phone, no movies, little apps as well. its rooted. can anyone point to as to how i can solve this?
thanks!
to add on, I've used storage analyser to better understand by storage, and it says i have 9.87gb available, whilte the stock storage details shows the number at 611mb.
help pls?

Try flashing SuperSU via the recovery.

hi, I've tried that, but to no avail..
ive also realised that system data takes up a huge chunk, more than 6gb. which is where most of the missing storage is. help, anyone?

Have you downgraded to the rom where you don't have this problem?

I only just realised I was having the same issue when I got an insufficient storage available message while trying to update some apps. To solve it reboot into recovery then go on backup and restore and delete any unnecessary backups you have, if the ROM's working now then you could do with deleting all of the old backups and making one fresh one with the new ROM. Also do the 'free unused space' thing in CWM, I had no backups but somehow there was almost 3 gigs of space being wasted by CWM. There's probably something similar in TWRP if you use that

You've got the right app. check your /data directory to see what's chewing up space. I bet it's TWRP or other stuff stored by your recovery manager.
Use this great app to check whats taking up space: Storage analyzer
When u make full backups they won't show up in the system storage scan. Go to the file directly n try deleting an old backup. I guarantee u will see more space available after u do. Each backup is usually about 400-500mb depending on how many apps n other data u have

Or maybe you got shrinkage problem which is pretty normal when upgrading (seeing that you flashed 4.4.2 rom over 4.3 rom). Your 16gb nexus was shrinked to 8gb. The easiest way to fix it is by formatting your internal in recovery (or flash stock recovery and do factory reset). Do make backup of your things though cause you'll lose them.
I installed the Secondary ROM in NEXUS 4 and by some cause i had to delete that ROM from my system which i did using MULTIROM manager. Before installing that secondary rom i had 5/12.93 GB of space occupied but now after deleting that ROM my phone has 6.1/12.93 GB occupied. How can i free the space since that ROM was also installed in internal storage and the Residue must remain somewhere over there.
Thank you!
