Streak wont go past recovery...... - Streak 5 General

Hi,
I was running Steve's 1.5.1, and then decided to go back to the 8105 build. so i flashed the stock recovery, which went fine. I then went on to flash the 8105 build.
After a few minutes I noticed that the screen was 'flash failed'.
I've mangaged to get clockwork mod recovery v1.8.1.7 flashed, but the sdcard wont mount. It keeps coming up with errors.
For example:
E: Can't find MISC
E:cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2(no such file or directory)
Error mounting SDEXT:1
Please help. At present I dont car what buil is put on, so long as it works. Btw, I'm a rebelsim user.

wow, 58 views and no reply? hmm.

That feature on clockwork recovery doesn't work on the dell streak (atleast in all the versions I've tried)
So if your device isn't booting, get a card reader and use that to access it.
Good luck

Clockworkmod recovery E:Can't find MISC:

Just recently got a streak and have been tinkering to get it ready for rom flashing when a froyo or two appear and just want to check my clockworkmod recovery has worked correctly.
A brief history of what i've got and done:-
Device is an o2 uk model with 2.1 update 1 on it.
Used androot to root it then root explorer to remove the recovery-install.sh then terminal emulator to install clockworkmod 2.5.0.1.
(didn't use adb as i'm on win7 x64 and it doesn't want to work )
When i enter clockworkmod recovery the screen displays and at the bottom after the menu it says:-
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't find MISC:
So question is is this ok or should i try an earlier version?
Cheers

Download PDAnet for android and use the driver included with that package instead of the dell driver.
I am using Win7 x64 also. My adb works fine now.

Cheers i'll give that a bash
What clockwork recovery are you using?
i get the same error..
clockwork still worked for me even with the that error.
i found out by accident, scrolled around, pressed power button a couple of times, scrolled up and down and press the camera button a few times on the option and it worked. weird. i noticed like maybe i didn't press the button in deep enough.
I see that error too. Despite it, flashed to Froyo using update_new.zip with no major issues.
That is normal behaviour, wrong is to see a message "Can't mount" so you are all set up to roll on froyo, good luck you won't regret.

None of the above at the moment since I went back to 1.6 from 2.1 build 6941. 1.8.1.7 is the only one that seems to work on 1.6 and it doesn't work that well (buggy).
The new one should work on 2.1, so I hear.
I'll be swapping to the new 2.2 beta soon so we shall see.
What can you do, if you have the can't mount error?
e: can't mount cache:recovery/command
same here
i wondered the same but as my clockwork works i havent worried too much about it... however everytime i attempt a nandroid backup, its fine till near the end when it says data failed, then if i try to restore the backup i get md5**** mismatch?
ive got used to starting from scratch everytime i do anything but it would be nice to have it working properly!
Don't bother with Clockwork, as Nandroid doesn't work! Use the recovery from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326 instead as the Nandroid on this works perfectly! Saves a lot of time not having to re-install everything when something goes wrong

brilliant...thank you!
Sorry for the wrong model, but i'm having this issue on a Desire too. I've routed the Device with unrevoked without a problem, then wanted to create a Nandroid, which doesn't work.
Also i've tried to wipe data and cache, CWM said all good, but after restart all Data is still there.
Could that be ROM related, the Rom is T-Mobile, not any official HTC Rom.

[Q] Need Help. Phone stuck on Samsung Recovery Utils Screen

I had Voodoo ext2 installed on my phone. I wanted to uninstall it. I had CWM installed on the phone but when I rooted into recovery, I got the Samsung Recovery Utils screen. I can't do anything from there.
I get the following error:
D:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(Invalid argument)
# MANUAL MODE #
I need help ASAP if someone knows what I need to do to fix it.
Thanks!
In stock recovery highlight apply update zip and hit home button. That will get you to clockwork as long as you did not do anything with the update zip on your sdcard.
good day. From the Fascinate sporting the XDA app.
Or you could reboot recovery from rom manager and it will take you, right into clockwork, it might be easier for some people. Remember if you are using the voodoo uninstaller follow the directions to the t and you will not have any problems I just used it today and I had no issues whatsoever.
Oh and chopper I noticed you are usually the first one to respond whenever anyone needs help I just wanna say thanks from all of us for all your help, I might need that help someday lol.

Can you please let me know the steps that you took to fix the boot loop? I was a newbie so I installed the Voodoo kernel then I've installed a non-voodoo kernel when I was playing with the ROM manager and it really messed it up. I've reflashed with the stock system/kernel/recovery files and wiped data/cached and it keeps looping into the Samsung Recovery Utils.
Thanks.

I don't remember what I've done to fix the phone. That was a few months ago. All I know is that I stay far away from VOODO Kernels!
I wonder if you can get into the download mode and ODIN a fresh copy of EB01 or DL09.
Here is the link for the EB01 (Froyo):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956289
And here is the link for DL09 (Eclair):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ooting+version
Best of luck!
Pull battery plug phone into computer hold down volume on phone to put you in download mode. Next odin cwm once finished unplug from computer, put battery back in hold up and down volume keys while turning on. Bam your in cwm.

Rooted EVO stuck on white loader screen(need help)

Hey guys, first time poster long time lurker here lol, Anyways, today I rooted my EVO via the new Unrevoked version, everything went smooth, flashed Cyanogen from Rom Manager, all was good but I noticed maps/market were missing. I started messing with the phone to the point where is now sitting on the white htc evo 4g loader screen, and it wont go past that.
I have access to the hboot screen but aside from that that's it. I've tried pretty much all the options in recovery mode to no avail. I believe my problem is that I deleted the OS and my phone has nothing to boot to.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Some info about the phone:
Hardware version 0003
2.15.00.11.19
3.70.651.1
Have you tried re-flashing the ROM? Or a different one? Or re-downloading the same one to make sure it didn't get corrupted? Have you done a full wipe (cache and data)?
If you can get into recovery, it usually is possible to get back in business somehow.
Try getting into recovery from the hboot screen. Then wipe everything twice and then reflash your rom.
Default
wiped everything and rom keeps giving me "intallation aborted"
here's what it says:
Copying files...
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/zcip
E: Failure at line 64
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/zcip
Installation aborted.
Lolwut... You shoukd be doing it in recovery...
I was doing it in the ClockwordMod Recovery, but now it wont even let me go into recovery, I just get a phone with a red triangle
im also an android noob and was in your same boat...this is what i did. i downloaded an ruu that was stock but left the root open. its a program that u can run on your pc that will program a stock rom to ur fone...i went into recovery on the fone, hit the fast boot option, connected the fone to the pc and the pc picked it up as "my htc". at that point i ran the ruu and that booted my fone into a stock rom. after that i reinstalled clockworkmod and uploaded a backup i had made w it...now im good..hope this helps
i think this is what i have to do.. im on the same problem and also a noob at this.. i have been banging my head to my desk all night lost out on major sleep.. lol this has to help.. any 1 have the link to the RUU stock?? thx in advance.. and are there any diff tips for linux ubuntu users??

[Q] cant mount /system cwm

I was running CM7.0.3 and had flashed on a different kernel. It started to run stably for a few days and then started locking up. I had it over clocked to 1.7ghz using setcpu. I decided to use Kernel Manager to put the original CM kernel back on. After it did it I got stuck in a boot loop so I went in to recovery and tried to restore the backup I had from a couple weeks before. It goes through it until it gets to /system and says cant mount /system status 1. I did a little searching and tried using PD15IMG. When I click update everything it goes through says FAIL-PU until it gets to Radio and then just sits there saying updating and never goes any farther. Can I fix this or is my phone ruined? Thanks for any help.

This issue has cropped up a lot recently. I'm sorry to say it but you might have bricked it. There is a chance though. 2 questions:
1. did you use gfree to root?
2. do you have the engineering Hboot? (.85.2007?)
I did use gfree to root. and i dont have the engineering Hboot.

Unfortunatly at this time there is no way to fix your situation with out an eng spl. So I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the phone is done.

Thanks even if it is bad news. I've only had the phone 10 days. Think tmo would exchange it?

Ya you shouldn't have a prob
Yeah, they should give you a brand new in the box, depending on which state you're in, you have either 14 days or 30 to return the phone

I'm stuck as well.
Don't know WTF happened. Was running Iced Glacier for a couple of months, then decided to try one of the new ROMs, so took CM7 for a spin, then went to RoyalGinger for a day or two. Things were working, but RG started freezing up, etc. so tried going back to CM7. Once I started through the flash process I hit an error when trying to format /system.
Now when I even attempt a wipe (or most anything) via CWM I continuously get errors like:
E:\Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:\Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:\Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:\Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
...and this latest time, I now got this as well:
E:\Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
I had CWM 3.0.2.4 through all of this, so should be able to flash 2.2 and 2.3 ROMs, as I understand. I can only get into CWMR and HBOOT.
I used gfree to root & have engineering HBOOT (.85.2007).
I can't get device listed in ADB, but can under fastboot. Tried flash command using fastboot to try and re-flash CWM (no idea if it would do any good), but it says cannot open the .img file.
The ONLY thing I got to work was mounting SD to USB in CWM and putting PD15IMG.zip in the root of the SD card, then rebooting and letting it run an auto update as it looks for this by default. That worked and took me back to stock...nothing else I tried would work.
Now I'm afraid of doing anything else or risk creating an expensive @ss paperweight.
Any help or suggestions appreciated as to HOW this happened, and next steps.

Dell Streak stuck at boot animation?

Hey guys i was playing with an app called "anim mod" which allows you to change the window animations. I tried to apply one of the animations and it came up with an error message that said " instillation unsuccessful". I then pressed the menu button and clicked reboot, my phone froze so i pulled the battery out and tryed to turn the phone back on and now the phone is stuck at the boot animation. I have no backups and do not have streak mod or cwm, it will still go into fastboot and the standard recovery. Is there anything i can do to save my streak or is it dead?
what version does it say in recovery? you can download the matching pkg off the wiki, put it on your sd and restore it to that.
Keep in mind you'll lose all your data as you didnt back it up beforehand
Thanks a lot I will try later as the battery is currently low

Hey how do i find out what version the phone is? Just wondering because it doesn't say anything about the build i'm running
oh wait when i go into the software upgra via update.pkg on SD card it says GAUSB1A35100 so i'm assuming this means that my build is 351?
Edit* looking at the streak wiki that would make sense as my streak was bought unlocked from dell
i got a long error message any ideas? i placed the update.pkg on the root of the sd card should i have saved it elsewhere?
installing update..........................
asserfailed: !lessthanint(1291344359)
this was only part of the message i couldn't type it all because the phone tryed to reboot
E: Error in sdcard/update.pkg.dec
This was also part of the rror message
You need to use the 351 pkg, you may have tried to use an older version rom and it specifically checks for that
351 15609 00 Mar 17, 2011 PKG Recovery Hash Latest Retail rom
I used that one i got it off the streak wiki
delete any update.pkg.dec files and anything in the lost.dir\
are you sure it's the right pkg? if it keeps giving you an error try redownloading it
Will try thanks a lot for your help
Got the same error message even though i deleted the update.pkg.dec files although i accidently deleted the whole lost.dir folder, i might try downloading the update.pkg file again
Think i may have found the solution, perhaps the update.pkg should be renamed Update.pkg.
Nope didn't work, i really don't know what to try now any ideas?
Guys can i please have some help i'm fairly new to android and have no clue what should try next . Any more help would be much appreciated.

You might consider flashing streakmod recovery, place Streakdroid or other custom build on your SD card and flash so you can get up and running. From there you can sort the stock recovery and builds. You may find that once on Streakdroid, you won't want to go back to stock!
okay i'll try streakdroid and see how i go
Hey i choose to download simplestreak 1.2, i placed it onto my sd and put my phone in fastboot, when in command prompt what code do i use to flash the rom and reboot the phone? Sorry for being a massive pain

in such cases try taking out your SD card, sim out of the phone and try rebooting it. it will fail, then try to reboot it with battery pull and recovery procedure, do a factory reset it will work.
