Hi everyone I was wondering what the newest swype beta apk is? Im signed up but I don't know which one to download. Who else is signed up?

There is no beta for Droid X. You have official OS release on your DroidX. If u try to load one it will cause problems.

On the swype forum there is a clear tutorial on how to install latest version on DX
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Get a root file manager (I use roo explorer) 1. Change your default input method to anything other than Swype. 2. Mount file system as R/W 3. Delete (or move/rename) \system\app\swype.apk 4. Delete (or move/rename) \data\dalvik-cache\[email protected]@[email protected] classes.dex 5. Delete (or move/rename) \system\lib\libSwypeCore.so 6. Reboot 7. Download and Run the latest Swype Beta installer 8. ENJOY!
then if you are part of the swype beta program go swype.com log in and they will email the necessary files follow directions and you'll have the beta on your X.

What's on the Beta that's better than what comes on the X?
Ken
I like the design alot better than swype on the X...
the design is a bit better, seems is bit snappier as well.

Has anyone been able or tried to install the HTC_ime keyboard onvy froyo add get it to work ? When I installed it I got a force close loop.

Only the 1.5 version of the HTC_IME keyboard works with the 2.2 ROM. Unfortunately, the voice input does not work since it is only the 1.5 version. This is the version that works.

There are two .apk to install and both are in the zip file... with the time spent posting that question you could have just opened it and found out what was inside
I use ShapeWriter and it works perfectly.

@derekwilkinson - i dont think it was necessary for you to get smart all i did was ask a simple question b/c i didnt know. being the smart ass you seem to be you should have realized i didnt know i was supposed to unzip it until i realized the flash failed and said it wasnt working !
Use a file explorer like Astro to open the .zip. You should get an option to open with app manager (or something along those lines ha ha) and you should be able to install.

pushing necessary lib files will enable farther versions of the IME keyboard to work, you still dont get voice recognition to work but the keyboard is there.
Feeling down about not being able to stream Netflix while on Apex?
Cheer up! There is a fix.
1. Download this file: build.prop
2. Place file on the root of your SD card
3. Using a root explorer app such as ES File Explorer, long press on the file and copy it
4. Navigate to the /system/ folder
5. Paste the file - You must replace the old build.prop
6. Reboot
7. Download the DX Netflix.apk: Netflix for the Droid X (the normal netflix.apk will not work)
8. Enjoy

JRummy has a zip that doesn't modify the build.prop and fixes the Netflix issue.

Yes I know that but I made this before he released that. He hasn't stated if it works or not. And that might only work for liberty.

Found a solution to running Netflix on Apex 2.0.0 beta and Liberty 0.5 (GB 591) without having to modify the build.prop or use a modded APK for DroidX and Droid2 also I think. I'm not going to link to another forum but a quick google search for
netflix apex 2.0.0 beta
ought to point you in the right direction.
Fixed me right up.

I have made a titanium backup zip of the file. Unfortunately all attempts at saving th file a an apk failed. But I was able to make a TB of it. Here is the download link.

sweet
Thanks mate, that worked, i installed the apk fine and its working sweet, thanks to you. Seems the market is giving out a false response to loads of phones saying they are incompatable. Strange but mines workiing so good times
Yeah I was getting the same false compatible. I would download it and as soon as it was installed on the android market website it would say incompatible. But whatever, guess this is only for the US users dont know why that it but wanted to share it. If you use it please post your opinion on it. Again I have not used it but am considering doing so now that I have it installed.
I've used it,its okay with a bit more work it'll be good, iris I think looks better graphically. My only hope for cluzee is the ability to Change voice etc

How do I install it from the zip file? Rom Manager aborted the install.
Unpack the zip and unpack it again on the Apk file name, then install, probably better on pc then transfer over

Its a 3 file zip. Uncompress with root explorer, and move the files to your titanium backup folder and restore with titanium backup. Then you should he good

I flashed CM9 a couple of weeks ago but I'm not liking the new keyboard at all. Using Swiftkey 3 Beta currently.
I have an apk of the Defy Multi-Touch Keyboard.
When I try to install it I get a message saying there already exists a same apk of the same name with conflicting signatures. I want to flash my old keyboard real bad.
1. Tell me how to remove the existing apk. just tell the name of the apk. I know how to remove it
2. Else tell me how to flash it
Please help

Try replacing it in /system/app I think it's called Latinime.apk. That's the name in gb. Set permissions like three other apps and reboot.

can't remove with Term or ADB on CM9.

You can use swype beta. I am using it and it works fine. Just that you need to install with its own installer available at the swype page
Swype is terrible compared to the Droid X/Defy keyboard...it's laggy

During some fevered app removals from my rooted N7, I removed the stock Swype keyboard (I normally use Graffiti). Now I want to reinstate it as an option but neither 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 upgrades have shoved it back in.
How can I get it back, please?
Just go and get it out of one of your backups.
You do make backups before you start modding things willy-nilly, right?
What's that? No backups? *sigh*
How about if you make a backup of your current ROM, install some ROM that has the files you want in it, copy the files out of that ROM to your SD card, restore the backup from the first step and patch the files into place?
Check this out too: you could actually use a pure stock ROM as the source of your missing files, and while you have it temporarily installed, make a backup of that, too! Then you would have a backup of a ROM which is capable of accepting the OTA! Wow!
Think of the possibilities: the next time an OTA comes around, you can restore the pure stock ROM backup, perform the OTA on that... and ... and.... make a backup of that new pure stock ROM too!
Oh My Dog, my head is beginning to spin with the possibilities. I better step away from my tablet before somebody gets hurt.
Make Backups. Early and Often.
Removed? Or disabled? Could just need to set apps back to default?

Swype is an app downloadable from the play store. The stock Android keyboard is called Android, even though it does support swype type operations now.
If you want the Swype keyboard, just download and install it.

I don't see Swype in the play store.
You can get the Swype beta (the latest and greatest) by signing up at the Swype web site. I put the Swype beta on all my devices, even the ones that come with Swype.

Right - the Swype web site is where I got the beta. Really installed it for the excellent included voice support.
