Has anyone had their phone randomly reboot? It's happened to me twice now (twice in 4 weeks). Both times the phone was in my coat pocket and I felt it vibrate (which surprised me since all vibration effects are off), and was even more surprised to see the MT4G splash screen (meaning it was rebooting). The phone is not rooted and is running the stock OTA ROM.

Are you sure? I was hoping it wasn't since it does not happen frequently, which I would think it would if it was a real problem. I'd assumed it was just a software glitch (both times it's happened I've been in a building with weak signal). I'd really like to know for sure before sending it in, because that will most likely mean getting a re-manufactured unit.
EDIT: after thinking about it, I realized it happened before when receiving a text. The incoming message indicator briefly appeared, but before I could read it, the phone rebooted. I then texted the person who I assumed texted me, and indeed they had just texted me. That has only happened once (this was several weeks ago).
Happens to me about twice a week as well. I just live with it.

Was just browsing around to see if anyone else had this problem as I did. First time was when I just got it. The second time (same week) it rebooted when I was getting ready to text someone back who just text me.
Phones getting replaced because a dead pixel. Hopefully that one has a good screen like this one and no problems.

Sometimes at random the phone will stop allowing texts to be sent, on various contacts.
I think this isn't a problem with the phone but the Android software, i have signal and its connected to 3G, sometimes HSPA. However will repeatedly not send a text.
If i just reboot the phone it'll work fine. However can get this problem later on again. Its as if the software cant handle sending a certain amount of texts per 10 minutes or something?
Anyone else had this problem.
Rooted & CM Beta5, however done it OTB.
I've never had a problem sending or receiving txt.
I'm on stock rom though
I'm on the stock rom aswell and i've been having that problem lately too, i was hoping i wasnt the only one.
Seems a problem http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f10/text-messages-not-sending-4534/
I'd like to second this. I was trying to send a bunch of messages the other night and had to keep rebooting my N1 to get them to start sending again. Then it would stop sending, and I'd reboot again... worrying. I was using Handcent though.
I use the standard SMS application.
Stock ROM. Only fix is a reboot for me.
Same with me. Happens every once in awhile. Reboot is the only thing that fixes the problem for me. It has not happened since I rooted my phone and flashed cyanogen's rom

1 time, i gaveup and couldnt be bothered to reboot the phone. Went to sleep, wokeup an tried in the morning an it worked fine.
Maybe a buffer issue or something like its full due to sending a high ammount of messages very quickly?

Not going to reboot the phone just wait see how long it takes.
Surely more people are having this problem?
I'm using Enoms TheOfficial and I haven't ever had a problem. I text more than anybody I know too. [3k per month]
Maybe your local network or something. I'm in Dallas, Texas

It did it on STOCK Rom and Cyanogens Rom too. I send maybe the same ammount too!
Not the network as here in UK i am T-Mobile and other people on T-Mobile can text me when there stood 1ft away. My mates works and he has a Nexus on T-Mobile too.
We both own Sim-Free mobiles bought direct from Google and Delivered at the same time.
I say handcent is the problem
It's not handcent as it's happening with the stock messaging app also.
I also have the problem, usually around the same time, but i send anywhere from 7k to 10k a month... maybe tmobile is trying to limit my data?!?!

Mine still does it purhaps few times a week.
use a task killer (lately i have been favoring task panel), then restart your messaging app. you don't have to reboot.
I had an old sim card and had the same problem and got a replacement from tmobile and everything is fine now.

Hi there my xda-friends!
Every since I updated my phone to Froyo (official) I've had two problems. I unrooted my phone before I updated to 2.2.
The first one is pretty strange. A friend of mine says that my phone sends him a text with about five minutes delay, which says that I have received the text he sent me. He also has a Legend with Froyo on it, but so does my sister, and she doesn't receive any texts from me (except the ones I sent her of course).
This can be solved by restarting my phone, but it begins sending "I've read your text now"-messages to my friend again after about a day. Both me and my friend have tried to remove our conversations and such, (oh, and I still see the sort-by-time bug with my texts, but I think that's because the messages-app doesn't sort my seconds, only minutes).
The other problem I have is that I can't receive calls after a random amount of days, and I can see that my mobile-internet is trying to connect, gets a connection and drops it after a few seconds, and repeats, seen by the internet-icon in the system-bar(?). Then I know something is wrong with my phone (this time, I wasn't able to receive calls).
But again, this can be resolved by restarting my phone, but that shouldn't be necessary, everything worked in 2.1!
I would like Not to factory reset my phone, if you guys have any tips I could try before I'm forced to trying force-resetting.

Alright. That's too bad. But now I've factory-reset it, and so far it feels a little snappier than before, and I got the new market-app with the green skin almost immediately, so maybe something was aching up
It Could be my provider problem, but just wanted to make sure.
Is anyone having failed attempts at calling , where it continues to keep ending the call every time u press talk?
Yep. When that happens nothing works. Texts. Email. Everything. Reset fixes it.

Happened to me first time today, had phone since launch.
Flashed my first customer ROM yesterday (CM7) and thought it might be that. Only a reboot fixed it, not even switching to Airplane mode.
How often does it happen to you guys?

it started happening to me recently, and quite often.
i really dislike pressing call over and over for it to keep failing.
I thought it was my carrier too, but normally a reboot fixes everything!
That was happening to me quite a lot. During a phone call it would drop the call but had full 3g service. Nothing was working, calls, internet, emails, google chat.
Hasn't happened since I did a factory reset. It's a pain in the arse to keep entering all the info again but it hasn't done it since.
I guess it a temporary solution.
It happens to me as well.
Happens to me too. I'm not sure if it's just the Nexus S since it happened pretty often on my Nexus One. I use Google Voice with all calls and I think that that may be the culprit.
It may have started with the 3.3.2 update for me.
It needs a reboot to fix it. Really annoying.
This happened to me yesterday. At first I was like wtf is going on here, then I rebooted the phone.
Two days ago I un-installed the e-bay app as I noticed it started up all the time by itself, and since doing so have not had any calls dropping out.
Ok heres one for you guys!
Theres been multiple times i've been asked why I didnt answer my phone when people called, but on my phone it has not rung nor does it show a missed call. My GF just called and said she called a few minutes prior but i didnt pick up. She knew i mentioned this problem so she called again and i got it.
I REALLY dont like this bug......
Calls drop with 2.3. 3 too.
Dial..., nothing. Dial..., nothing.... sometimes it takes multiple attempts, with mane green bars.

Does anyone's Nexus S ever just shut itself off after making a phonecall? Like after you are about to hang up, the phones just OFF. And it takes like 30 seconds-1 minute of holding the power button to get it to boot up again.
I haven't had that issue with mine, atleast not yet.

Hmm strange. Did you update to 2.3.3? How long ago did you get the phone?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm still on 2.3.2. Had the phone since end of December.
It's just a weird problem. Like you know how when you hold the phone against your ear to talk, the screen goes black to save battery? And when you pull the phone away from your ear the screen is supposed to light back up. Except mine just stays black and the person on the other line hangs up, my phone just ends up turned off for some reason.
never heard of this problem.
mine has same issue on 2.3.2. now i'm waiting for update to see if resolved

I've heard of this issue on pre-2.3.3 and it seems to be resolved in the new update so I'd try to update if I were you.
I haven't gotten the 2.3.3 update to show up yet. I'm currently rooted via the method where the bootloader is still locked.

Hi, I have started having this issue just today.
I am running stock 2.3.3 rooted with KB3 base radio and netarchy's kernel 1.2.5.
The odd thing is that today was the first time it happened but it happened twice both times after i finished a call to the same person. So far it has only happened when i have been on a call with this person, but all other calls seem fine... very odd.
anyone have any ideas whats causing this? dont know if it has something to do with the baseband radio... i upgraded to KB3 from KB1 only yesterday and (perhaps coincidentally) the reboot after hang up started today...

The first thing you should do for instability problems is wipe and go bone latest stock and see how many days you can go with no problems.

So this started happening only 2 days after getting my G2. Basically my phone reboots randomly whenever I unlock the lock screen. It doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough that it really bugs me and I'm considering factory reset, but I dont want to lose my info and have the reboots still continue

**Yes I am also getting random reboots when unlocking the screen. At first I thought it had to do with the lock screen type I used or the lock screen pattern but it is still happening now that I'm using a pin to unlock my phone. I am completely stock and got the phone the day it came out.
The reboot happened a couple times within a few minutes and seems very random upon unlocking the screen. If others are experiencing this I highly suggest posting here.
I came from the LG G2X and that phone had a similar issue involving random reboots but was definitely fixed by LG eventually. My Asus Transformer Prime had a random reboot issue as well and eventually fixed.

Got my G2 5 days ago and have had at least 3 random reboots or shut off reboots the the last three days.
Today 4 times reboot when unlocking with Code unlock.
Actually considering returning the product.
did you try uninstalling some of the stuff you installed? One by one?
Did you try factory reset?
Stock everything?

I don't really have anything crazy intensive on my phone but it's worth a shot.
As of today I have had several reboots when unlocking the screen. This occurs whether I have the lock screen active or not.
I am considering returning the phone too if this keeps happening. I'm absolutely sick and tired of defects/bugs (whatever you want to call them) like these plaguing my devices.
all it takes is bad install of apps, wacked permissions and what have you.
Eliminate all software possibilities before you blame your phone m8 .
nope completely stock
this just started happening to me today, no idea why... I haven't installed any new apps lately. is it a problem with my phone? you think swapping it out will fix the problem?

lol factory reset and wait few hours, dont restore backups and stuff, that eliminates about everything!
whats left, bad rom, but at that point warrantee
I have stock lg g2 doing same thing. A hard reset didn't work and I have only basic apps that came on phone. However I have been able to turn off lock screen and so far no reboots (yet). T-Mobile has given me a runaround about getting it replaced. Still inside my buyers remorse,I have finally gotten a supervisor to give me a new phone. Tmobile supervisor confirmed lg g2 having a lot of issues. So that said I'm saying goodbye to lg g2, going with something else. Tmobile finally took care of me after being on hold for 5hrs and talking to countless people! Lg g2 has issues but T-Mobile has major issues and that's being really polite!!!

i exchanged it
i went in to tmobile last night to exchange my phone. it took two hours because of a some $1.12 price difference but they eventually got it to work with some trickery. i'm a very patient person anyway.
literally while i was typing this response i was going to say i didn't have the random reboot but JUST F'ING NOW it happened again. I'm immediately doing a factory reset and UNFORTUNATELY and using the phone without instalilng a damn thing. hopefully i can get some idea of what the problem is before my 14 day return window is up or else this phone is going back as much as i hate to say it.
I had a similar problem with my phone while trying to unlock it. Once it started rebooting, it would go into an almost endless cycle of reboots. Sometimes as much as 20 reboots in a row.
I had tmobile exchange the phone for me. No issues since with the replacement. I do definitely think there is a bad batch of G2s out there.

Let me start off by saying I'm a jeweler and am used to looking for stress cracks developing inside of stones, well I found this issue with 2 LG G2s.
I am on my third G2, not because of rebooting but because the sapphire glass that covers the camera starts developing micro cracks running across the lense, has happened twice now, I had it in one of those windowed cases, they suck don't bother, no protection. Anyways, had this issue with the transformer tf201, microcracks develop along edge, then bang, giant crack from corner to corner, no mis use needed, was just bad design. These microcracks are all internal, no breaking the surface.
The way you find them is get light to reflect off of the glass covering the camera, now slowly roll the phone side to side and back and forth, now look for lines reflecting light back at you. If you see those exchange the phone, they will eventually grow, like a windshield crack, and feacture ruining the camera optics.
Hope no one else has this issue, oh and this third LG G2 came with the Isis sim in the box, unlike my first 2, I'm in chicago.
VZW
Clean Rom 1.0. No problems or reboots. I have had the phone for about 2 weeks.
Picked up the phone day 1, no issues at all. Fantastic device!
The recent update to gmail was the culprit for me. I started getting the reboots immediately after the update. I uninstalled updates in app settings this morning and haven't gotten a reboot in 12 hours. Maybe it's an issue with the gmail lockscreeen widget after the update? I'm on the verizon g2.
same rebooting issue here for my TMO version. thought it was my lockscreen widget from nils, but then it consisted after i took it off, and still consisted after i factory reset it. so I exchanged the device and got a new one.. same day I got it, it started rebooting again. thinking about just returning but its such a good phone, sad if it has to come down to it.
Simple as this. Random 'reboots are bad. If it's uprooted, exchange it. If it's rooted, use a diff Rom or figure out what you did. One random reboot is enough for me to go ape **** lol. My gnexus did it once and I was back at the store that day.

quick update. since exchanging the G2 for another G2 I have not had any random reboots. I did take into account the advice from a previous post on this topic that his gmail update may been the catalyst for the reboots. I waited to update gmail until a few minutes ago so we'll see how it goes.
