I have now tried a few versions of Android and each crash when I do something like update Weather or download APPs. so this would seem to be a problem around the radio or base WinMob version.
I have Artemis 45 so my Radio had to be at highest stock release indeed it is 2.15.50.14 - which seems to be acceptable for most android releases.
Can anyone suggest what could be causing the crashes and hopefully a solution?
I really want to see Android stable before I make the complete switch.
Thanks in advance

Reading the radio thread it implies that I have to use hspl but I believe that isn't compatible with 3.14 rom. Is this correct?

No, is fully supported. I am currently using:
ROM: Energy.Leo.29005.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.13. (Based on ROM 3.14)
RADIO: 2_12_50_02_2
No more crashes!

I am having problems doing this.
As my Rom is now SPL 3.03.0000 then I can't load HSPL as it is not one of the 1.x or 2.x in the list.
I can't even load the Energy rom as its requires HSPL :-(
any suggestions?

Why do you want to downgrade the radio? Any radio that is 2.08 or greater (with a .50, not .51) is fine for Android, so you should never need to downgrade it.
hi i have the same radio i did my update with tmobile hspl then i flash the energy rom last reles. then froyostone then im using the nexus one dev. for android2.2.1 everything works and is fast all apps work and phone calls mounting my sd card and all

As I mentioned with radio 2.15.50.14 I get crashes in Android when doing thinks like updating the weather or downloading apps.
2_12_50_02_2 - is recommended by a lot of folks as fully stable with android builds. also it isn't just one version of the android builds as I have tried quite a few.
Thanks

I still am having the same problem.
Today I did
1) did a Task29
2) reinstalled Energy rom
3) reformatted the SD card and put the content back
4) started Android. but it crashed on doing a download
The radio I am runnign is 2_12_50_02_2 which seems to work for others.
Am I missing anything?

Hi there,
I was hoping you could answer a question for me. I have me searching for days and can't find what the different is between the Hspl versions. Is the latest the best?
My HTC HD2 was on 1.42 and I ran HSPL and change it to 1.42 HSPL.
It is working fine, but I was wondering if i made the right choice, and what the difference is?
Also, can I run it again and change the hspl version ?
Thanks in Advance
The developer of HSPL recommends matching your hspl version to the rom you are using, so 1.42 matched to a 1.42 - 1.48 based rom, 1.66hspl to a 1.66 or 1.72 based rom and 2.08hspl to the later roms. You supposedly get a more stable rom. I however can't say I have seen any significant difference between 1.42 hspl and 2.08hspl.
Just run HSPL2 again and you can change between the various hspl versions or even revert to stock spl versions at will.

Thanks for quick response. I think I will leave it on 1.42 as that was the same as my stock spl.
The next step is to choose a ROM. Any suggestions? Im looking for a stable, fast rom, with app updates, but that still has the weather animation. Also, I would like to be able to run fspce without any issue.
What do you reccoment?
Thanks again.

ROMs are personal decisions and what I like may not be to your liking. I suggest the best approach is to review the threads, look at screenshots, read the last 5 pages or so of the threads to see if there are major problems with the rom and then try a few.
The one I'm using is linked in my signature

I have radio version 2.05.51.05_2 and I would like to use this rom, which radio version should I use ?
I found Leo_RADIO_15.33.50.07U_2.07.50.27 **(from TMOUS 2.07) which looks ok, but will this be ok for a 512mb HTC hd2? Or is it for the T mobile version only?
Thanks
at this state you can flash all radios available on a 512 mb device. the new radios detect if its 512 or 1024 device.
Hi there,
i tested a lot of Windows Mobile ROM's and everyone with specific behavior to a Radio. Actually i'm using the EnergyROM GER C00kie 28 Aug and it is amazing. I also would use Android but i'm not able to find a good Radio.
So i decided to start a Thread, where everyone can post hier Radio, ROM WM, Android ROM and his Place + Network (Eplus,Vodafone etc.).
I hope it can be a useful help to wirght down positiv and negative experiences you made with Android on different Radios.
So i tried the 2.07 Radio, witch has an amazing Batterylife on Windows Mobile on latest EnergyROM. But in Android over 6 hours a lost 50 % Battery in standby! Tried Radio 2.12 and high drain in WinMo and bad connection in Android.
I'm in Germany with BASE.
.........................reserved
You used 2.07 radio with android ? You didn't read the sticky.. Actually I am surprised android ran fine with it, you must have >= 2.08
All radio are different for each one, i saw a lot of thread like yours and nothing interesting went out. If that can help I am using 2.08 for france/switzerland, call quality is good and I am loosing 1% in standby each hour.
no i read
but because radio was perfect, i tried it. And NRZ gives advice to use 2.07 or 2.12 with his WM ROM.
i'll try this two for next
Leo_RADIO_2.10.50.28_2 and Leo_RADIO_2.08.50.05** (you mean this 2.08?)
how is your battery behavior in windows mobile and android? both good?

2.08.50.05 yes. So happy with it that I don't feel the need to change. Try it, maybe german and france have the same ways to deal with signals... seems to work good with wm but honestly I don't use it at all anymore.

i'll try thanks, stupid question, but can i update or downgrade Radio (e.g. 2.12 to 2.08) without a full new flash?
[Full Flash: Task29 -> Radio -> WinMo ROM]
or can i only flash a new radio over the installed ROM?

Hello.
When booting into an Android (2.2) based ROM, everything seems to be working fine. The only problem that I have come in contact with is the audio speed. Music plays too fast, is sped up, etc. I did make sure to click the "clrcad" file before booting into Android.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
what WM ROM u use??
you should update your wm ROM..
How do I find out which ROM I'm using?

I'm running the minimal ChuckyDriod WM Rom with 2.12 radio rom and the combo works great for any android build I've tried.
Various stickies have info for flashing roms.

I had the same problem when I first installed android, running Chuckyrom and radio Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2. I swapped the radio to Leo_RADIO_2.10.50.26** and that got rid of the audio problems.
Lately I've installed ChuckyDroid and are now running android without any major hick-ups.

Instead to making a video; it was more useful to give us some important information.
Your Rom version?
Your HSPL/SPL version?
Radio?
Customization (in case you have; didn't see much of this)
It's hardware problem I think.
ROM is 1.48, I tried also 1.66 and a lot of custom builds.
SPL/HSPL no matter.
Radio - 2.05 and 2.15
In video is ROM 1.48 SPL 1.42 Radio 2.05
I don't exept to help me, I just show you the video.

Honestly sir stock ROM 1.48 , SPL 1.42 and Radio 2.05 are very old sir.
If I was you I take the latest stock ROM 3.14. it will upgrade also your Radio to v. 2.15.50 and your SPL version will be upgrade to SPL 3.03

Yes, it's old. It was installed from warranty service
Before that I was with HSPL2 and Energy ROM and still had problems.

Don't forget to remove HSPL (in case you have it) when you install Stock ROM 3.14 (it isn't compatible together)
And after installation do a Hard Reset.

Yes, I know. I don't have HSPL now.
I tried to install stock 1.66 first. The phone freezed several times during first configuration before WinMobile loads.
Next - 3.14
BEFORE INSTALLING STOCK 3.14:
I agree that it might be a hardware issue. You might want to try a Task29 to clear the memory from ANY residuals of previously installed ROMs that might interfere with each other and cause problems. But you'd have to install HSPL first to be able to run it.
Might not be the solution but is worth a shot - esp. scince sending it in would leave you out of your device for days/weeks ;-)
After that installation of 3.14 via SD card does work with HSPL scince this way of installing bulldozes over everything installed no matter what (extract RUU.exe with 7zip or the like, rename the biggest file to LEOIMG.nbh (all captal letters!) and put it on your freshly formatted SD card. Launch bootloader and it will install the ROM with proper SPL and Radio ROM). Fastest way to get to full up to date stock, I guess.
I always install ROMs via microSD card
3.14 in progress

I suppose you have a t-mous device. in this case it's normal sir.
I was wondering if it was possible to install Android on the stock ROM 3.14 WWE (radio 2.15.50.14). I would like to install android without having to use HSPL because I'd like to keep the phone under warranty
Nahh
Tried doing that. My WM locked up totally. It would start, but NO 3'rd party progs worked. I could not uninstall, nor install.
The only thing that worked was to reset WM.
So i ran the HSPL part, upgraded WM to Dutty, upgraded the Radio, and Android ran smoothly.
I'm not sure if all WM's will lock up, but i only speak for my self.
Btw, my was stock Norwegian.
Good luck
It does work on the latest ROM (3.14). Plenty of people have had it working, me being one of them. It's definitely a good solution for those who don't want to have to upgrade HSPL in order to get a newer radio.
I've been always using Stock roms, and Android has always worked perfectly here.
Currently using 3.14 German Stock Rom + MDJ 1.7 Android room. working flawlessly.
stock orange rom
I am using a stock orange rom. I did HSPL3 and updated the radio to 2.14.50.04.
I went for the FroyoStone_Sense_V3.2 build, and have had no stability issues. I use this as my main phone and never revert back to winmo.
Like most I do suffer from data drops, but get around it by toggling airplane mode.
Hi, two seperate things here, you can run it on a stock rom see my sig, but you must install HSPL3.
Mines working just fine...
Didn't alter the WinMo ROM, radio, or even SPL. Just cut & pasta the Android ROM files to SD Card, and magic!

No, you don't need to install hspl. A radio version >2.08 is enough. Recent stock ROM has 2.15
having HSPL is safer .. I am running the Tmobile stock with hspl ,running Mdeejay Evo and works like a charm .
I don't see how having HSPL could possibly be any safer for running Android from your sd card, as Android doesn't use or touch your SPL at all. You are perfectly safe to run Android on a stock rom, as long as you have a X.XX.50.XX radio everything will be as if you were to run it on a cooked rom
