Purchasing a Xoom.

Hey guys, this is a question for the UK Xoom owners. Is there anywhere in the UK I can actually walk in to a shop and walk away with a Xoom the same day?
I have looked at Dixons, Currys, Comet, which all seem to be the same company nowadays, and all of them only offer 3-5 day online delivery. I would like to be able to walk into a shop have a look at the ~£500 piece of hardware I am about to buy and see if it is actually worth my money before I part with it.
Do this group have exclusive sales rights in the UK at the moment? Because I can't find it at any other highstreet store, I hate waiting for delivery, the aforementioned don't even offer next day delivery! I have to wait until Wednesday before I can get one delivered...

I think you can go into carphone warehouse and have a look @ the 3g one.

Aye, I noticed that last night. I also noticed the price, £579.99 SIM free! I don't know who they think they are kidding, plus it's a silver one, I don't know if I fancy silver but I am just being picky.
I'm going to go to Dixons/Currys in about half hour or so, see if they have a display model I can have a play with. I might just get one there and wait for the five days delivery.
I suppose the next most desirable tablet is the iPad 2 now, at least Apple had the brains to let you actually walk into a shop pay for one and walk out. I'm such a child, I hate waiting for things.

Thanks my man but despite PC Worlds website saying they don't stock them in store, I went into Bedford store and picked one up yesterday. Very kind of you all the same.

I did and he confirmed they had them in stock, but my order is still in review. I'll feel better when my order goes through and they send me the tracking.

Just talked to Martin at GSMnation. Mine wont ship until Friday. They have had 50-60 orders for this phone in two days. Apparently they've been shipping them out this week, Hopefully BagOfSnakes got his in a lot earlier than my order so he gets his by Friday.

Mine still hasn't shipped either, I got feeling they put this up for sale without knowing exactly when the product was arriving. I've been keeping a close eye on the internets and comparing online retailers. I posted the day they put the Arc up for sale. Unless they had tons of preorders we should be the first few. But I don't even think they had a North American Arc up for preorder at all. They already charged my CC too. That better mean they actually have the phone in their possession to be sent.

I contacted their live chat today and asked about the Silver color. They said that they plan on selling the silver color soon and he advised me to check back next week.
Just wanted to share this info in case people are interested in the silver like I am.

I spoke to the SE folks last month and they mentioned that they did not have a release date for the US. They mentioned that it was going on sale in Canada towards the end of April and that an unlocked version would be available in Canada towards the mid-end May timeframe.
Hopefully, the information I got was incorrect and you guys get your phone soon!

Well, their website says "In Stock - Ships within 24-48 hours". So hopefully you should get yours no later than Tuesday.

YEA i spoke to them this morning and he told me the phone was in stock. i asked him when is my order being ship he said 24/48(ordered mine last night) hours to process orders so looks like im getting it next week ... i also asked the guy for the SGS2 he said it was schedule to arrive this week or latest next one...

I pre ordered my nexus 7 from the google play store and received it 2 weeks after my friends purchased theirs at a local electronics retailer in Australia. I am glad there is no pre order from google play on the nexus 10

Personally, I'm going to wait a bit for any hardware revisions to come by and fix any possible bugs (Nexus 7 anyone?). So December-January for me.

Does anyone know how long it was after the nexus 7 release until it was available at bestbuy or walmart? I have friends of my family visiting their son in some town I dont remember the name of in SC and there are both walmart and bestbuy there and bestbuy has the possibility for international orders with local pickup and that is perfect as they don't have to pay anything. They are going back to sweden dec 13th. How is expansys? Are they reliable and handle returns well? I figure it would be easier for our friends getting it from bestbuy/walmart if the N10 would have any defects as they could just go back to the store and get it exchanged instead of having to deal with returns through mail to expansys.

I can't remember where, but somewhere yesterday I read it will be available in stores the same day as the play store.

You can get notified by email when it's available. Go to Google Play, enter Nexus 10 in search box. Click on Shop Now (select either 16 or 32gb model). Under Coming Soon enter your email address above Notify Me.

I've tried Google Play on my Galaxy Note and on my laptop but all that there is for sale is Films, Books and Apps and no hardware.
I live in the UK and wondered if hardware was not available here on the Play store, does anyone know?

You can't access the devices section from the app on your phone.
Gotta get there on a computer, or you can access from the browser on your phone as long as you don't have links to play go to the app.

I think in the UK that the shops got the N7 about 2 weeks after google started selling them online, wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened again.

If anyone can give me a link to pre-ordr in the uk that be great. I want that thing at my door on release day :fingers-crossed:

I'm picking up mine in a couple of hours...Futureshop and Best Buy has limited quantities..most stores are out of stock already....only two futureshop locations has it...excited!

Have they set up demo devices in store?

Lol I tried picking mine up at FS and they couldn't sell it to me despite me having it reserved. Street date is Nov 8th or some BS apparently. The guy had the box in his hand right in front of me. Not sure what Samsung is trying to achieve here by delaying launch by another week. Ugh.
Also it looks like there's only the white 32 gb model initially. Too bad, I wanted the black

Just a tip to those who live near the border. Amazon USA is selling the white 16gb for $549 plus a free $50 Amazon gift card. Its a pretty good deal and I was able to take advatange of it. Also, you get perks worth $600 upon registering the tablet. I dont think the Canadian model offers the same perks.

Same happened to me..they called me ro pick it up but when I'm paying it they can't do it....I was so pissed I emailed the cust support and they replied and asking for more info....when I got back to work I ordered online at BB...got confirmation email but no tracking number yet...its so stupid calling me to pick it up when its not ready yet..here's hoping BB will send it out in th e next couple of days...
**update...just got my tracking number...yes!

I ordered it this morning after coming back from futureshop empty handed ...I might get it monday...they are shipping through Canada Post...lol I'm at the plant right now working part time and I know i won't receive it tomorrow....

No demo in the store I went to...they have two boxes in the shelve but no signage...oh well at least BB shipping it earlier..

Went back to work empty handed, ordered it online and it is on the truck today... coming here.

Lol...my BB order is arriving tuesday....I called FS today and told them BB street date is today...he checked it...put me on hold and then told me that they've changed it so I can pick up mine today...he remembered me and my tab is still on hold....now I got two coming my way will return one...

Lol that's pretty funny. Anyway I managed to go pick up my FS order today because the release date magically got pushed up to Nov 1st. Thanks Apple? What ****ty logistics on Samsung's part.

I just bought the last one in calgary today bro!!!
didn't realize it was released until last night at about midnight, woke up this morning and called everywhere. the best buy stores ALL had their stock mis-shipped, so NONE of them got it in. as for futureshop, the only one that had any left was the deerfoot meadows store, which thankfully is only about a ten minute drive from my house. called, got the guy to put it away for me, and tore down there as fast as i could, went in and bought it immediately (after having them run around looking for it because the sales guy didn't put it on hold properly, he just hid it inside the lockup where their normal stock is...so i could have even had it sold out from under me if i wasn't lucky).
i ended up buying the total protection plan coverage because it covers up to two free replacements if i break it, so i figure worst case, it breaks, great i just saved 300 bucks on the second tablet (since the plan cost me 300 instead of its usual 360) and then if i break it again, perhaps days before the end of the warranty and when they only have the next generation note available, then i guess i get it replaced with the new one
also the warranty is over the counter for breakage, they don't make you wait and wait and wait.... you simply bring it in, they see it's broken, and they go get you a new one. if it's just needing repair, like for the battery, which is covered for two years also, then you actually get a loaner note while yours is being fixed...pretty damn cool!!!!
anyways, i just installed the latest australia firmware onto it, since that is the newest of any available, and i just rooted it....starting to really enjoy it now. now i just hope someone comes out with at least a rom or two for it, or i might have to try my hand at making one, although i've never made one how hard can it be? lol...

According to Des on Twitter, one of the reasons for the delay was to make sure all locations were able to get a demo phone. As the leaked list showed, only 2/3 of locations were even getting a demo, and only 1/3 were getting sellable stock.

I called today because at one point there were rumors demos might show up today & was told they were expecting demos tomorrow & only 32GB MBlue but I'd definitely call again before heading there..

I want the largest available.. 64GB in this case (I'd take 128GB if it were available) so I'm not going to find it tomorrow but hope to get it before Xmas..

Speaking to one of my friends who also works at T-Mobile today around 9PM EST he told me the email they received was no sale in store but they can direct ship from the store to the customer. I asked he got no email of delayed launch and he said not today maybe if it does it will come in tomorrow. He's a trust worthy guy and knows what hes talking about just as crazy about this stuff as me.

Guess he doesn't know that Tmobile stores don't ship from the store to the customer....

I though I saw can order in store and ship home. I have seen this option multiple times

Direct ship, yeah they can order it for CX and have it sent to store. If he's saying he can order you one, you might wanna do that fast before they block it for him

I just called 611 from T-Mobile and they are not letting you order the phone over the phone. So if a store will let you buy one then you are lucky and jump on it. But I highly doubt that anyone from t mobile is going to sell it earlier.

Just like any business, you have a plan. Moto promised them stock for the date they planned. Looks like Moto failed to deliver for whatever reason (could've been a manufacturing issue)

I just called one of the stores on that leaked list. They told me they did not have any for sale but I could come in and pre-order.

Amazon notified me yesterday that the Spigen cases I ordered were "shipped by Spigen" and would be arriving 11/25-28.

Well, this is what I get for not checking the N6 forums yesterday. Stopped by the store and they didn't even know about the delay until I asked about the phone. That's when the rep saw the internal memo saying the launch was pushed back. It's complete BS to push back a launch date the day before. They already knew there was limited supply.
