Hi
Does anyone use SETCPU app with GT540? Does it make any improvements?
Or how to use it with our phones?
Thanks

You need to install this kernel for some new mhz options.
Yes, it improves your phone.

So you use GT540 with 2.2 Openswift? how it is? also you use setcpu together? does it harm when we put it to 806 Mhz? Does it drain battery fast?
Also fixing the Mhz to 480 or 600 makes phone faster? Some people say that fixing the Mhz to 480 will make your phone faster...

For me it does. It's different to each phone and apps. Same for "how does i use my device?" If u play all time and watch YouTube videos, ofc it drains very fast. Didn't see any difference when i listen to music in backround.

I can't say yes or no. U can choose some different profiles for SetCPU. For example: your phone screen turns off and SetCPU sets the CPU to 250Mhz. U can save a lot of battery.

I can not say somthing about this. I didn't use 480 or 600mhz. I went straight to 840. Ok, with 840 i've got some problems with reboot and crashes so i set 806 and this works fine for me.
please can someone tell me how to enter fastboot mode on gt540 ? I tried everthing but it didnt work, and yeah do you need fastboot to overclock this phone ? (btw sorry for my bad english)

The best I've managed to get my phone running at is 825MHz but I'm sticking to 748MHz because it gives a reasonable compromise between battery life and performance.
I like to comprimise the battery life for the power, i charge every night so it dosnt matter to me
How accurate is the battery meter on 2.2? The battery meter on Swiftdroid is very unstable, which largely affects it by overclocking.

Sincerely that are the frequescies of a Intel/Marvel CPU (ie 312, 520, 624 MHz)
Qualcomm has 400 and 528 Mhz
this is for intel processors, it does nothing to the quallcomm processors afaik
I can not work more than 400 MHz.
This ROM will spend the weekend with me : Feels smooth and sweet. If it passes, it could stay with me for awhile
What language was on that site?
I think Thai.
Hi, the rom is nice. It has many Thai customizations so you need to chnage your regional settings, the timezone, language etch. to english to get the full English menu. So far so good. No problems.

I'd tried it. The performance program in the setting does not really overclock the cpu but it does feel faster. The 520mhz was tested making the cpu run faster than 624 mhz. You all can try it cause it does no harm. So far this rom is running very stable for me.
Try it and you'll love it.

Very good ROM but the first one without Greek Regional Settings!!!
Where can i find that?
Not as fast as i expected and without Greek regional settings it's useless for Greece!
There some to be some really good ROMs on the PDAMobiz site, but I can't find any download links anywhere.
I've tried using a Thai to English translator, but it still doesn't make much sense.
Does anyone know where the ROMs are stored, so I can check out some of the others?
Thanks,

Oh boy
There's a bug with the sms application after awhile. When you want to compose a new sms, the screen is totally blank. Have tried flashing two times and the same thing happened. Went back to Aserg's ROM.
I havent experimented too much but this is the first result of the two mentioned programs mixed together (stirred , not shaken ) when installed on the X2

Just launch nueOverClockTest (it will put your CPU @ 768Mhz).
then launch Msm7kCpuSpeed (it will show 960MHz)
then exit from Msm7kCpuSpeed (our CPU will be clocked @1056MHz, you can check reopening one of the two programs).
As you can see on the screenshots the overclock works also if the phone is battery powered.
No benchmark atm, but @1056Mhz the phone is reeeallyyy a pleasure to use.
The overclock seem really working.
Navigon will take about 30 sec to start @ stock speed, but will take only 16/18 sec to start @ 1056
and how much does 1056mhz stress the cpu ?

I'm not sure that this value is correct, what' I see is an improvement on the performances and this is enough for me.
Btw the only broken cpus I saw in 27 years of IT involvement were some athlon XP powered on w/o the heat-sink, so I don't care less about the cpu stress.
where can i get the programs for this? can u give me a link?

Mine works at 1056 MHz since Sep. 3rd without draining battery or overheating at all.
Yes apps run faster, video playback smoother even in WMP, no more glitches in music while surfing the net.
Most important is it's overall stable, no SOD or crashes here.

Is there anyway to make setcpu works with my desire hd?
Visionary is working perfectly but I think perflock is blocking the speeds control. If I try to stop it with the menu command it gives me an error message.
Please If you find any solution post it... I'd like to save some Battery limiting the cpu frequencies

Since the update setcpu works perfectly with visionary. We DHD users can now disable perflock and control cpu frequency. Life is good.
If you set visionary to root your DHD on boot then you don't have any issues with things being "temporary". Well technically they are but you won't notice.
Have all installed on mine but i cant find a way to go above stock speed, is there a way to do this ?

What cpu frequency's are you setting in place to gain 30% more battery life?
Hi.
To use setcpu on the desire hd you should first root it with Visionary (set it to run on boot). Then you can dowload the app and launch it. When it has the root permission you should press the menu button on the main screen and use PERFLOCK disable. (set it ti run on boot too).
When perflock is disable setcpu take control of the clock speed.
My settings are:
When screen is off, speed is set to 245min-245max. this will grant you lot of spare juice from battery, only con is the 3 or 4 second lag when you turn the screen on. It needs some moments to put speed back to 1024. Not big deal if you get use to it.
Then when battery is under 50% I set it to 245min-768max. this will reduce the power need of the beast of a little 10%, means like 1,5h more standby time.
When power is under 20% I reduce the speed again to 245min-368max. In this config the phone react like my oldtime beloved hero...
I do not use the htc battery saving.
Hope it helps!

You can not Overclock the stock Kernel.
Thank you for the post Endr1, quite interesting.
I can use SetCPU, I can manage profiles, but I cannot OC the device beyond the 1024 MHz
I have tried several CPU frequencies with SetCPU (very nice and simple tool, love it!) and noticed that overclocking the Desire HD to 1459MHz seems to be ideal. With higher OC speeds I do not get better performance (if I may believe Quandrant standard benchmarking tool).
I have LordMod kernel + CoreDroid v9.2 running.
Here you can see benchmark before OC

Well, don't know if this has been touched on yet but.. performance after permanently rooting the phone and installing BaconBits is awesome.
Here's my homescreen.. picture is from yesterday (before BaconBits), but I put it up here to illustrate that the scores below were achieved under normal circumstances (with widgets and such running).

Quadrant score. Achieved with maximum allowable overclock after BaconBits.
BenchmarkPi score. Test finished almost comically fast- crazy stuff
Results from the BenchmarkPi test. The fact that this phone can place in the top 100 with minimal effort, with widgets and apps running in the background, is awesome. Battery life hasn't suffered either!
How are things looking for everybody else out there?
Wow that is nuts, just wondering if me personally am having no issues with my phone at all in any operation should I even do the root?
I'm guessing once i install psx emulator i may need to root...
Cyanogens kernel does magic... it really does. Can't wait for the offical release of the rom. Gonna stick with sense until then.

So far, this thing is surprising me. I OC'd it, loaded up Quadrant and was pleased to hit the 2499 score threshold. I think I can punch to a solid 2500 but maybe later.
Now to just wait for the official ROM. I'm absolutely loving my phone even more.

It is, that doesn't mean we can't have experimental kernels that push it to its limits. I've gotten up to 921 (without problems) on my phone.
