Now that we are rolling on the official froyo release, what is the easiest lag fix to apply to it?
Yes, want to.know also. And the savest one.

Voodoo
Voodoo lagfix, following the detailed instructions via project-voodoo.org, has been troublefree for me.
Oclf2.0 from market.cf root 1.2. Super optimized kernel.
Works like a charm...
what app/method do you use to root the device on 2.2?

Seems to have worked for me. Although it was stuck on installing SuperUser, but I looked and it was installed and working.
Voodoo time.
Anyone got a good link to Odin3 please?

I also got this - mine did not root however
I am using voodoo as it seemed the easiest. Quadrant ca. 1600 but most of the horrible lag has now gone.

I've updated my galaxy s with the official froyo update(I9000XXJPP, buildnr. XWJPA), it was kind of laggy I think, so I wanted to use the voodoo lag fix. But somehow when I want to launch update.zip there is an error which says: signature verification failed.
Before the update, the voodoo lag fix did work(benchmark 1400)!!
I don't know what to do, I think my phone only got slower after the update!!
Benchmark 986
Please help, I'm not an android professional so explain in normal language
Thanks,

You can't use voodoo update.zip on froyo - check the voodoo homepage and use beta 5 pre 6 via ODIN.
need to be very careful with these things or you will end up with a brick.
(Fwiw its saying that because you are on 3e not 2e - still not the right process for voodoo tho)

as dckiwi said please be very careful
you need to use Installation on Windows (For Voodoo on Android 2.2 AKA Froyo
see link here:

Don't panic, same thing happened to me. I'm no expert either however a research found the culprit. voodoo on 2.1! For some reason when updated to Froyo you can no longer do recovery zip updates cos of the voodoo kernel.
Go over to xda development and you will find a thread with a kernel that will fix recovery (do you can run voodoo again) as well as root 2.2
You will have to use odin which freaked me out at first but it's really easy

So, which full lagfix (one that converts all partitions, including /system) is better for JPO? "Universal"? The one that makes 340 mb ram visible? Which? I've kinda lost track of all those fixes.
I have JPO with the TouchWiz Mod and the 341mb optimized speedmod kernel. I have no lag whatsoever. The phone never felt so smooth, not even with voodoo on Eclair. Just my two cents.
Jpo + oclf + cf root.

My benchmark also sucks! With 2.1 and OCLF 2.0, my benchmark was 2300 and now on 2.2 and OCLF 2.0 it`s below 1800 and the menu it lags as a #$%&^^%$# If I go to the next page of the menu, it takes one second after my gesture until it really moves:S
Im very disappointed!!

Did you apply any of the built in lag fixes?
I'm debating whether I should use something lower than JFS advanced because of battery life.
I'n on DI01 and about to buy Titanium to upgrade. I keep gearing about DJ05, DL09, DL30, and EB01... what should I upgrade to? I'm new to this....
Samsung Fascinate, Verizon
DI01 (upgrading soon)
MTM Blackout Keyboard
SuperClean 0.4
StupidFast kernel
DL09 is the latest official update from Verizon. It will have the most kernel's and ROM's available.
DL30 and EB01 are the Froyo leaks, with EB01 being the latest one. You are basically stuck with the stock kernel for now. Some ROM's and theme's are available for both leaks right now, but not as many as DL09.
Personally I'd go with the new. If you're new at this you'll need support and it'll be hard finding it when a vast majority will leave the other roms/radios behind. Go with eb01...
Install eb01 you will have a stable device with less issues.

Does that mean DL09 has problems, per se?
... Doesn't that also mean bloatware?

I don't think it has any major issues. It was released to fix the issues in DI01. But it is still Android 2.1
If you use a stock update then yes the bloat will be there. But there are also clean ROM's you could use.
But if you are switching your phone around anyways I would go for EB01. You can always switch to DL09 if you don't like it.
Wait... I don't understand. EB01 is Froyo but not 2.2?

No no no, DL09 and previous roms are all Android 2.1, aka Eclair. DL30 and above, including EB01, are Android 2.2, aka Froyo.
If you want DL09 (Eclair), there are myriad choices available for custom roms. DL30 is already obsolete by virtue of EB01, so for any DL30-based distros I would wait til they update to EB01 (if that is to be the final 2.2 build). Otherwise, I've run the EB01 stock (ran very nicely, even with the bloat) and am currently on Superclean 2.1 (EB01-based) and have been happy with the performance.
Now, is there an ad blocker in SC2.1, does it kill bloat, and what's the advantage of 2.2 over 2.1 other than flash? I may want DL09 instead just because of themes.

There are alot of performance updates in ebo1. Plus the themes that received the most praise I'm sure will be ported over. You're not running voodoo (As your sig suggests) so you will have a noticablly difference in speed...I'd go with adryn's sc 2.1
Alright, cool. Anything bad as far as compatibility?

Sorry for double, but can I go straight to SC 2.1? Or is there a stock EB01 I need first?

Just wanted to know if there were any notable performance gains for normal use other than benchmark scores using voodoo vs non voodoo. I was using voodoo on 2.1 but 2.2 seems so fast already.

Voodoo will help media scanner finish faster, as well as help with installing apps or any other application that does a lot of read/write to memory.
So I see that Superclean 2.2 is out for EB01. I am a bit new to all of this and have had awesome success flashing to Superclean 2.2 non-voodoo and installing some themes.
If I want to try out voodoo, do I just need to flash Superclean 2.2 Voodoo version via ROM Manager? Or, do I have to install Superclean 2.2 Voodoo and then go install the stock EB01 Voodoo Kernel as well?
Also, since I am already running Superclean 2.2 non-voodoo. When I go to flash the voodoo version, do I have to wipe all cache and data?

There is a thread called eb01 voodoo that contains a voodoo kernal for eb01. Download it and flash in recovery. Works over superclean 2.1 novoodoo.
Thanks a lot! Actually just I saw that someone responded, I was in the exact thread that you speak of and doing this actually crossed my mind. Must be some Voodoo magic going on.

It's my jedi mind tricks lol
Or you could just loaded flash the sc 2.2 voodoo package. Adrynalyne usually includes the kernel in it & I bet it's the one from JT.

Yes, there is only one standard version and one Voodoo version of the Froyo kernel available, since there is no source code to modify it any further yet. Any current rom with a 2.6.32.9 Voodoo kernel is using the one from jt.
Posted from my EB01 SuperClean Fascinate with Voodoo
I am running superclean 2.2 non voodoo and then I flashed just the EB01 voodoo kernel. If I want to upgrade to SC 2.3 should I flash the voodoo or non voodoo version? Any wipes required? Do I have to disable lagfix if I am upgrading to sc 2.3?

I am about to get my new Droid X this coming week and was just wondering how easy these phones are to mod? I have a samsung intercept right now and have a custom rom, theme, root, and recovery on it. What would you guys suggest to do to my new Droid X? Any tips or suggestions?

Easy.
But we have a locked bootloader, if you don't know. Meaning we can't run custom kernels.
I recommend:
Z4root (find the apk here in the forums).
Titanium Backup Pro (or free) from the market.
Liberty Toolbox (Donate or free...donate comes with gingerbread nightlies)
Root with z4root.
Open your contacts and click options>export contacts to SD.
Backup applications with titanium backup.
Use Liberty Toolbox to install Clockwork.
Find the full liberty.zip in the "Rom Manager" section of Liberty Toolbox.
Check both options to backup/wipe.
It will install for you!
Restore applications with Titanium.
Do this except with apex instead of liberty
How much faster would the Droid X be if I rooted it? Also, I heard gingerbread leaked somewhere. Is that easy to flash onto the phone?

I have a Verizon Droid pro, is there a simple permanent root method? No custom Rome, just root?
Thanks
