Is there anyway i can stop the constant reminders of my unwanted 2.2 update? I delete from the taskbar and within 1 hr it's back.
Can o2 tell that my Streak is fitted with a 3 simcard and they're trying to pressure me into upgrading knowing that my phone will be locked to them again?
Even the goddam weather man is telling me to check for updates every fifteen minutes
have you tried fooling it into thiking you updated. let it download the update and then pull the battery. the pkg will be on the set and it may see it and not tell you anymore. just a though

Hi,when I remove the battery from my device so my date&time get changed.Restore to the latest definition .
If I'll define the date&time in the device for example 18.05.2011 23:00 and five minutes later I'll remove the battery no matter if I before it turn off the device or not.
Still when I insert the battery and turn on the device ,my time&date will be 18.05.2011 23:00.
The five minutes dont count.
I've this problem when my OS is wm6.5 or android.no difference.
Why?
Thanks.
If you just have the issue of date and time mismatch, try to set the option to 'Get values from network'. What I mean is to set your time and date to sync with the network time, that way it will stay updated.
Regarding the issue you are facing, I can't get much information on it.
I dont have a 3g account and I dont have a Wi-Fi nearby.
So I cant get values from network...
Any solution?
Thanks.
There is probably no solution for you. Without an active power source, it won't update the time. As I doubt there is a capacitor or battery on the system board to keep the time updated, then when you pull the battery, it just remembers the last time and doesn't update it till you put the battery back in. You're stuck just setting the clock manually in that case then.

Don't pull out the battery.
I agree with Drashna, you need a time source for your phone so with no network connection you can't get one.
Are this failure valid for all HD2 devices or only in mine?
Thanks.
Hi! ive been having same thing lately. not before. have you had it always?
I think this is same thing that happened to my HTC wizard.. its internal battery for clock died after year or so and this EXACTLY same that happened with it. they replaced it at htc when they repaired its screen and it worked afterwards.
or capacitor whatever its real name is.
any more people?
I have had hd2 since january 2010
I had my device for almost a year...
And if I remember right I don't have this failure from the beginning.
it does it on mine for android but normally corrects itself by updating itself fromthe network
I have been patiently ignoring the prompts popping up every fifteen minutes imploring me to update to the new improved (non-rootable) OS. Since I love root too much, I just keep clicking remind me later.
In the last day, I'm now getting another update prompt. This one doesn't list the details of the major HC update (version and size), just says there is an update available. Any idea what it is?
No clue but I disabled automatic updates weeks ago to avoid having to consistently close it every time I wake my tablet up. Not sure why you're leaving yours on if you're not going to install it - disable it and be done with it. When you're ready, turn it back on and download it [if that ever happens].
Never the less, whatever that prompt is for, there's no doubt in my mind that you will have to update to 3.2 before applying it. Also, it could be an older 3.1 update you never picked up. Search around.
I just got my G2 delivery from Verizon and have been playing around with it for about an hour or so. I have the preinstalled sim card pulled out because I need my other phone as my daily use phone for the time being until I have time to transfer things to the new phone. So for now i'm just using wifi to play with the G2. It came with the OTA update 24A already on it so I guess i'm up to date.
So far the phone seems to work great except for two odd problems that I can't seem to resolve even with two factory resets. Just wanted to see if anyone has any answers, if I have a faulty phone or if this is just how things work with this phone. Both problems happen on a reboot of the phone.
1.) I set my brightness level manual 50% and my screen timeout to 30 seconds but everytime the phone reboots, it resets the brightness level to 100% and the screen timeout back to the default 1 minute setting. If I make the changes again and reboot the phone, it resets things again back to default. Is this a software glitch? Does this happen to everyone? Or do I have a problem that requires me to return the phone for a new one. I guess I could live with it, but i'd rather not have to.
2.) This one is really odd. The first time I turned on the phone or did the factory resets, I had a notification in the drop down list that I needed to accept LG user agreements. I did so and the notification went away. When I restart the phone, the user agreement notification pops up again, but this time it doesn't ask me to accept anything. I just need to clear the notification from the drop down list. How on earth am I supposed to get this to go away completely.
I haven't rooted it yet because I might need to return it so I am completely stock at the moment. The only thing that I don't have is the sim card installed, but I can't imagine that not having the sim card plugged in would cause these two problems. Does anyone have any possible reasons for these two problems or should I just return the phone to Verizon for a new one?
Thanks for any suggestions....
EDIT: Did a little research and found a post on the AndroidCentral forum that my brightness problem may indeed be the result of having the sim card pulled. I have to wonder if it is also the reason for my user agreement problem, but won't know for sure until I can put the sim card from my old phone in the new phone. For now I will take a wait and see approach. Feel free to delete this thread if need be.
Okay, so my old phone basically broke after I updated to 4.4.4, my service was absent almost everywhere, my bluetooth went in and out, my phone was slow and froze constantly, and my battery could drain completely in like 30 minutes if I didnt turn everything off and hardly use it, then it would maybe last a few hours. So I got a replacement through Verizon, and lo and behold, it came with 4.4.2. My last post was about me trying desperately to root, but I couldnt because of my 4.4.4 update. So I was thrilled. I transferred all my stuff, and actually managed to use towelroot and it worked.
Then, my phone automatically downloaded the update, and I couldnt figure out how to stop the update popup or notification. Nothing I tried worked, and I downloaded a few apps to try and turn it off. Disabling or etc Google Services Framework does nothing, but somehow, everything else I did managed to make the phone basically unusable. I get two errors: "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." and the same one but about Google Play Services. I tried to undo what I did but it didnt fix it. I reset my phone to factory settings, and while that stopped the downloaded update from popping up, i cant use it because the popups are there literally every 2 or 3 seconds. I cant navigate through a menu without tapping a hundred times, usually on the wrong buttons. I dont have wifi on, so the ota update hasnt downloaded.
Im going to probably take it to Verizon tomorrow and ask them if I can just get a replacement replacement, but I hate having to do all that, because I might have to wait even longer now. If somebody has any idea how to fix google play services, please tell me. I reenabled them, cleared data and cache, force stopped them, turned them back on, nothing fixes it.
Also, I desperately need to know how to prevent an update from downloading, and how to get rid of it once it is downloaded. Ill have root access, but none of the methods Ive googled have worked, please help me, Im so frustrated with Verizon and Samsung all this bull**** now. Why cant they just let us enjoy our devices?
First off a Verizon store will not give you a new phone unless you are inside of 30 days of a new purchase. Ofirst din 4.4.2 to give it a clean start. Re root phone. Then disable sdm which will stop all ota updates.
No, Verizon will give you a replacement if you have their insurance. I've gotten dozens this way. As long as there isn't any serious physical damage like obvious scratches or cracks, water damage, or anything similar they overnight you a brand new device.
I have two phones in my possession right now, on Monday I'll have a third. I went in and showed them the replacement, they seemed confused, but they always do. They told me to just send back the broken replacement and went ahead and put in for a new one, which Ill get Monday since tomorrow is no post.
So that problem is solved.
Ill try what you suggested when I get my replacement. I've never rooted beyond the towelroot I mentioned before, so this is all new to me. It seems like some methods I've seen only work on certain phones, so thats what Im worried about.
Do you think you could give me more specific instructions, because I have no idea what everything you said meant. Im just tired of googling everything you know? Id appreciate it!
Thank you for the reply!

I started update last night. It took about 30 mins and phone rebooted. It appears to have the new software but still cant make calls or text. There is a progress bar under notifications that says android is upgrading. It has been doing that for 18 hours. It did move in the night to probably 60%. I cant get any farther. I don't kmow how to stop it but I want MM back. Please help if you know how to fix this. I would love to kust root it but I domt know enough to know all the steps to that
