Hi friends,
I was using a custom ROM by Wolfbreak and my network was behaving weirdly...
The icons in the top switched to E when at home and H when at office and when the icon was H,The network speed was more than 3mbps and when it was E the network speed was less than 1mbps.
And i have returned to stock 2.1 tonight just preparing my phone for oncomming GB update and i found that the network icon doesnt change to H anymore and i got stuck with 600kbps network spped.
Can anyone explain the behaviour and also suggest me how to get that H network with high speed GPRS while satying on my Stock ROM.
Your problem is probably because of bad signal strength or in your mobile network options you have use only 2g,...

I dont see option to set 2G and 3G. As i told you im using stock 2.1 ROM...is there any way to check where the settings are? i want that H network kind of speed..
Your phone was able to connect to 3g before? You haven't changed cellular providers?
Are you using an x10a or x10i and what cell company?
It currently means you are connecting via Edge....1 way...and not 3g...2 way.

And check your MMS settings.
Im using X10i with Airtel as cellular provider and its the same sim i used earlier.and i didnt have 3G activated from the begining but i was getting H network.
Why cant you search?
Hi all,
Just got my Xperia Play, and it's not rooted or anything (don't plan on it yet)
and my phone shows an icon all the time that when the status bar is pulled down, it says "data traffic is disabled" and it only goes when my 3G data is on, even when I'm on wi-fi already!
Anything I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Its normal. Its just a indication of your service provider data 2g or 3g. When u turn your operator data on, it will be gone. Nothing to do with wifi

Correct me if i am wrong do i have to uncheck Use only 2g networks in mobile network option .to switch to 3g Network ??..Cause when i uncheck that option my signal shows "H" instead of "3G" ..
And i have heard you can increase storage space in ur nexus 4 by rooting it .can anyone confirm it
Thanks
H=HSPA. Your phone idles in UMTS (3G) until it uses data then switches to HSPA.
To answer you second question - No.

So i just have to uncheck use 2g option to get 3g... does it show "3G" on top of signal bars or "H" ,,,when i use .it shows "H"
Yes. Leave it unchecked.
Yes it will show 3G until data is in use, then it will show H.

is your problem you are not getting fast speeds? or do you only want to know about whether or not to tick that box?

My problem is when the bar shows "H" does it mean my phone is connected to 3G or should it show "3G" which indicates i have 3G connection

3g = 3g
h = h+ = hspa+ = pseudo 4g
h means you are on hspa+ (data). i never see a 3g on this phone like i have my older ones. i wouldnt worry about that box and just leave it like it was.
Hi,
every time I am in my workplace my signal changes to G and wont turn back to H.
Other guy that works with me has H all the time 3 to 4 bars and wont change (lg optimus black), on the same network.
I found out that selecting the network manually does the trick but I have to keep doing that and sometimes wont work.
I know Orange\t mobile\ee are the same and i only get H by selecting orange/EE.
Any ideas because T-Mobile support hasn't got a clue.
I have poor reception at work, which is in a metal building. Moving 6ft from my desk turns it into a perfect signal.
3G is VERY hit and miss in this sort of situation.

I am getting similar problems at home, I hadn't experienced this up until now. However my situation is a bit different. My net stays at 'HSPDA' but when apps try to access data it becomes unresponsive as in there is a big delay and slow speeds. I tested my connectivity via 'Speed Test' app but is shows perfectly fine with '4-5mbps and upload of 1-2mbps).
I tried setting the data to 'WCDMA only' from 'WCDMA preffered' but it made no difference and even tried 'LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL)'.
I'm hating the merge with Orange, it made everything slow and worse!
Anyone can help?
Still have the same problem
If I go into the hidden settings, which preferred network should I chose?
It is WCDMA preferred.

Hey guys, I am having serious network issues.
3G and 4G are not working at all, when im connected to wifi however the 3G icon turns on and is grey, once I turn wifi off it goes away.
Every now and then I get a blue 1X signal and it is connected.
It does not matter what ROM I am on it still does it.
I have my network set to GLOBAL. Ive tried all of the other ones and still no dice.
Thanks in advanced!

that could be your issue then. if you are verizon like your info shows, then you should be on LTE/CDMA/EvDo. set that, then try a reboot.

I'm on that setting for the past 7 hours, restarted and still nothing :/
I also flashed stock 4.1.2 with the Batman utility and started fresh. I'm using Carbon now.
Would the "Network Operator" setting have something to do with this? When ever I go in there it just pulls up an error.

I get "error while searching for networks" - but no FC.
could have been a kernel issue for you then.

Tried removing my SIM card while my phone was powered off for about 30-60 seconds, it vibrated many times. Then I restarted my phone and it still won't connect to the mobile network.
