I'm unlocking a Verizon xv6800 to try and flash a new rom. This is my older phone but I've flashed it before to stock ROMs with no problems. This time, however, something seems to have gone wrong.
I ran the unlocker Olipro 2.40 and when it got to the point where I was to disable the USB, I went into WMDC and unchecked 'USB' connections just like it told me to, only when the application said to hit any key to continue, it told me:
'Cannot open USB port. Please make sure, that USB connection in Activesync is disabled. Also make sure, that your USB cable is properly connected.'
Well, I thought I did disable it. The letters 'USB' are showing up in the grey section of the bootloader screen whenever I plug it in, but somehow it's not connecting or something. Can anyone give me some pointers on how I could get this thing out of the bootloader screen on a Vista machine with WMDC? Thanks!
Ariel
Simple solution is to use XP and not vista to avoid all problems.
Well, of course, but at this point I'm sort of stuck with Vista - you know, like those poor saps that got computers with the Millenium Edition?
I tried something that seems to have snapped it out of it's lock, but I didn't exit - and I was wondering if I could get some more helpful information on how to do this with a Vista computer? Are you saying it's not possible?

Myabe download vmware server, install it, and install winxp into that, share the usb device and try might get you out of it. Its a long way around but it probably would work if done right.

Hmmm... I think it might be easier to try and find an XP machine I could use. So, you are saying that there's not a Vista version of the unlocker Olipro? I've already loaded radios and ROMs using this machine without issue, only unlocking has given me any problem.
Ariel
there is no operating system version of anything ppc. It is just that vista causes so many problems many choice to only flash with xp. Ask ryanmogul I seem to remember him using vista maybe.
Ok, thanks. That is the information I was looking for. It is very comforting to know there is such expertise in this stuff available here. Thank you for replying in so timely a manner.

In that case, any one (or combination) of the apps you've installed could be causing the problems. There are some known issues on here - have you searched for your problems in the forums - not just this one?
You may well need to do a hard reset and install the apps gradually, making sure that your problems have not re-occured. This way, you may be able to identify what is causing your problems.

I'm still on XP, so I use ActiveSync and that works (usually) with no problem. I know there have been others on here that use Vista or Windows 7, and they've got it working. Maybe one of those guys will offer some assistance.

Hey! Yesterday I had the same issue. I am a new user too. When you connect your Leo to Pc, tap the autosync option on your mobile screen, not the usb/flash drive. Pc will recognize your phone then. Also, see if you have microsoft outlook instaled on your pc, that matters too.

I'm trying to run v0.3, but getting stuck part way through boot. My kernel is in a panic
Will update when/if I can convince it to keep calm and carry on.
[EDIT] Panic over. Must have been to do with the folder name on the root of the SD card. Did not work with "linux", "ubuntu", or "UBUNTU". But works with "LINUX".[/EDIT]
I was running it before I switched to NAND android. I was really surprised by how responsive it was,i thought it would be more laggy. Can't wait til MAGLDR can boot it

yesterday i updated that page, you can find a link to a step by step guide now.
here it is
talking to the mods for how to handle this on the board, we decided to put the same manual here on the board to give support for the people trying to build them.
but under the android general and QaA section, as this should work there to and on meego and on other models of phones.
links are gone be added to both the ubuntu and meego helpfull links section.

Is there a way to load ubuntu from magldr correctly ?

the only wifi problem seems to be related to channel 12 and 13, so check if 1 of those is in use, if yes, change and try again.

couldnt manage to change channel, "no such device" but 2 days ago i could find wifi network, just couldnt to join it, and now theres nothing. I tryied to find with wicd and by terminal. Always there was response like i dont have anything to join network with.
But now thats my second problem, because i want to use wp7 720p recording (so i dont need to buy mini hd camera but wp7 sucks if i want to "work" on my phone so im trying to find some way to use wp7 and be possible to boot ubuntu. Any ideas of something like this possible? or maybe theres a wp7 bootable just like ubuntu? :> ( dreaming )

Hey,
My iPhone has died so I am looking to buy cheap phone whilst I wait for decent phones WP7 to come out this year. I was wondering how well does
Android work on HD2? Any lag? Do major features like GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, etc work properly? Finally, any of you guys use Android as your day to day OS?
I couldn't find these answers so I apologise if these have been asked recently.
Thanks.
I'm running a NAND build and everything works great. The battery life is tremendous and I use my phone for everything.

The phone was made for Android...why Windows Mobile ended up on ths beast is a mystery to me. Everything works and works well. It runs circles around my brother-in-law's Droid...buttery smooth. The CM builds are my favorites, but if you like Sense, the DHD builds are great too. I was goingto upgrade last fall...but with Android running that's on indefinite hold.
And if you want to use WP7...it has reached daily driver status for a lot of folks too. But comming from iPhone, you might be disappointed in the app store at this point...still early.

As for problems, just a few minor ones that some people have helped me fix on this forum.
When I downloaded the NAND rom, everything went smoothly. You might possibly get the Unit code problem. Just do the solutions that people are recommending on this forum. Worked for me.
Make sure you download HSPL 2.08, MAGLDR 1.12, and then the NAND rom. Check radio version before doing this as well.
couple things Ive noticed with this rom compared to 6.5
*The G-Calibration doesnt work as well on NAND as it did on 6.5. Screen sometimes doesnt rotate when you want it too
*Swype needs some modifications to it once downloaded to your NAND rom for the rom to recognize it (at least in my case)
*The Internet issue that everyone is having problems with but is a VERY EASY FIX...(manually enter APN settings) described in another thread
*Finally the phone isn't recognized by computer once plugged in. Anyone have a solution for this that works, please let me know
*Once I got my 3G to work properly with the APN settings, GPS worked perfectly fine and havent had a issue with it that others have had
With all that comes Android though. Android software itself is amazing compared to Windows and these are minor issues that dont bother me. This Rom is very fast and superior to any other Rom in my opinion. Marketplace is great, the animation is second to none, the app and widget placement is superb. I'd definitely recommend picking this phone up and downloading the NAND Rom as you won't be dissapointed.

If you Mean your computer can't mount the phone as a drive, I've only seen this issue in Gingerbread Builds. The fix "more of a work around really" is to download and use the "Multi Mount SD-Card" widget.

With the new ROM, my phone isnt recognizable once plugged in anymore. Ive read about a couple fixes but haven't gotten it to work. This issue is kinda blurry to me since it is a different ROM and your computer software expects to be hooked up to a Windows ROM rather than android. It charges through usb connection to computer, just cant sync contacts, etc. through computer. So yes, it isnt recognizable as a drive at all other than charging if that makes sense. Its the newest NAND rom that DFT provided.

I have no reason to see why not - it's just Android, like every other build. I'm not sure why you're having a problem in the first place.
Are you just trying to connect as a USB device? If so, have you set the phone to act as a USB device?

freeridindirtbiker,
If I understand you correctly you are having problems syncing contacts with your phone now that you have flashed the DFT provided Stock Desire NAND ROM?
My question is what program are you using to try to sync with your phone? When you had windows mobile on your phone you could sync using the windows mobile device center. Now that you are running android (especially in NAND) your phone is no longer a windows mobile phone and cannot be synced through windows mobile device center. You can download HTC Sync which is the software HTC provides to sync an HTC Desire with contacts etc...
Your phone now identifies itself as an HTC Desire. You can natively use it as a usb mass storage device (flash drive), but to "sync" with it you need to install new software on your PC.

Hi guys,
I got a new 10.1 yesterday as I had to return the old one due to the Newton rings issue. Anyhow I have rooted the new tab with the latest Overcome ROM and all that went fine. Now I want to transfer my Titanium backup to the tab so that I can restore all my stuff. The thing is Kies does not recognise the tab at all?? I have tried to uninstall it fully and re-install it again but still no joy :-( I'm on Windows 7.
The previous 10.1 that was also running Overcome v1.2.3 connected to Kies without any issues?? This one pops up a little message in the status bar saying "USB Connected\MTP Connected" and there is a USB icon there but that is all that happens?? I have also done a factory reset on the 10.1 in case that was it but Kies still does not pick it up :-(
Any ideas guys??
Cheers,
M

Hi guys,
I have tried both those things and on two different machines now and still no joy :-( I am starting to worry about this to be honest...... Could it be the cable? It charges fine and as I said MTP Initialisation comes up then MTP Connected in the status bar but that is as far as it goes?? Luckily I made a backup of the original ROM and have just restored it back but surprise surprise it will not connect either :-( It's the exact same as with Overcome or Bindroid?? Would I have damaged it somehow by rooting it??
I only want to transfer files, why does Windows not just show it as a removable drive? Is there any other program I can use?
Cheers,
M

Waiting for a Kies update is not good enough for me mate. Mine NEVER connected to my computer from the day I got it. I'm 99.9% sure a new version of Kies will not make any difference, it still will not connect. I will not be happy until this is fixed by Samsung!
I have been promised a call back by a manager over an hour ago and get the feeling that will not happen either. At this stage it seems like the small claims court may be the only way to get this resolved.

Great! Well Samsung FINALLY booked my Tab for it to be sent in for repair! Let's hope they can figure out what is wrong with it.
I flashed a stock image using Odin back onto it before sending back, will they be able to tell it was rooted? I noticed a flash counter on the Odin screen so wonder will that now be +1?? I checked and Clockworkmod Recovery was gone, all that was there was the stock recovery.....
