Hi, firstly i'd to apologise if a thread is dedicated to this issue, but i cant find anything remotely that applies, completely new to the xda scene, dont understand which roms are which, radio's etc and ive stumbled across an issue that i simply cant resolve.
My phone the HTC elf is displaying the tricolour screen, ive tried to re-flash the phone to no avail, a grey screen appears and its stuck at 0%, i left it over night last night expecting the rom to of flashed, but alas no!. have i screwed my phone or is there anyway or anywhere that someone can point me in the right direction, to resolve this issue.
It did have WM6.0 professional installed, is it possible to put a higher version on this phone or android if so, can someone please point me in the right direction with links etc with explanation's, totally at my witts end.
If someone can help me just get WM6.0 pro back on i'll be happy
my provider is o2 UK dont know if that makes a difference on flashing with different roms...
also the phone is unlocked to any network it was on orange but im on o2...cant ring o2 as i swapped my contract phone for this one...(oops, FAIL!)
Kind regards
Lee
read the unbricking section in Rollup sticky and then post in an appropriate thread.
hello uni guru's and such, im really hoping i can get some help with my Universal (orange version), ive had it a while now and its been sitting at the bottom of a drawer for a year because ive been messing around with my Kaisers', anyway the problem is that it crashes all the time, ive just done a DOC format and flashed orange stock rom and ive actually got it working now but its still crashing every so often. i was hoping someone had a miracle cure as i have done everything and it just white screens.
Thanks for listening and im really hoping to get my uni working as its a just a paper weight at the moment.
Alex
Welcome to forums,
Have you tried MTTY?
Have read on my signature, there are plenty of useful info.
Good luck,
well im not really that new as ive been flashing my kaiser for months, and yes i did the whole doc format through MTTY and it seemed to help but its still as unstable as a elephant on a washing line, im starting to think its not the software and its a just a dying board or something but i will keep trying new things till i get bored
Could it be an installed App or the ROM you are using? I would try a reliable ROM to rule out the software. (Make sure it's not overclocking).
i really doupt its the rom, it was what i tried first but its running the stock one it came with and it boots up, and it seems whenever i do anything the screen will just go blue, or green, or white. and im not running any installed apps.
it might poss be hardware struggling but i cant think what its struggling with.

Click to collapse
it's a pretty common solution, seems to fix something in the way the radio communicates with the phone drivers.
It will work where you turn on loudspeaker on then off or go in to settings and turn off touch audible tones.
Hi there,
your first thought might be: Ah jeez another one posting the same **** 2000 people posted before ^^. But anyways i think my problem is a special case:
yesterday i wanted to flash another radio to my htc magic via clockwork recovery. However something must have gone wrong. After the recovery rebooted my phone i got stuck at the "htc magic" splash screen. Pressing the home or the back or vol-down button or home and back button at the same time doesnt change the situation. still stuck at splash screen. fastboot and recovery dont seem to work.
After some really bad panicking minutes, i pulled the batery out of the phone and let it rest, while googling and searching the **** out of every forum on the net. Some minutes later i reassembled the battery and started the htc magic without pressing any other buttons, hoping it would juts boot and say "kidding ))" on the display. but yeah ... it didnt ^^.
Now im coming to the odd part, which differs from most other posts i saw on other forums and here on xda: after quite a while my htc magic suddenly made that "bling bling" sound, as it did whenever it started android successfully. i nearly burst into tears when i heard that sound, hoping that i would be able to access the phone via fastboot or adb. but ... i wasnt able to :S. the screen went black after that "bling bling" sound and stayed that way until i pulled the battery again.
i could repeat that procedure and reproduce the sound and behaviour, but i couldnt access the phone via any possible way i could find on the web :S.
hopefully somebody, who knows more can help. my last step would be jtagging the phone. but the tools are kinda pricy for such an "old" phone. and i couldnt find anyone in my area who could borrow me the tools or repair the phone for cheap money.
thanks in advance im counting on your knowledge
Try this low cost JTAG
tested by me with 2 T-Mobile Mytouch 3G
thanks for your fast response. if jtagging really is my last chance:
- what did you pay for all the parts of the schematic ?
- how long did it take you to put everything together?
- do i need a parallel port on my computer, or is it possible to use an usb port ?
- and do you think a newbie to smoldering and stuff could be successfully assembling all those parts?
- can you provide me with links and/or other pictures, which could help me?
thanks again for your effort
kinda exciting this whole thing :>
