[Q] Need Help (semi bricked Streak) Beta Unit??? - Streak 5 General

Hey Guys,
I need your help trying to bring this Dell Streak back from the grave.
Background: I got this Streak from a fellow who tried to put 2.2 on it but apparently did something wrong. Currently I have no Idea what build this is or even what country it's from but I have a few clues that may help.
While booting the Streak with the volume buttons it reads:
Factory Reset
Software upgrade from update.zip
Power off
near the bottom of the screen is the following: "DT: A2.643 Built Date: Dec 31 2009, 01:16:21"
While booting into fast boot mode the white screen comes up but where normally you would see the " Fast Boot" option on the upper right corner, there is nothing.
But if you connect it via USB the screen will change to "FASTBOOT_MODE".
One more clue is that the splash screen does come up and just hangs there but I found it interesting that it reads "Dell Confidential" under the Dell Logo.
So right now thats all it does, Hang on the Dell screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Sounds like you have a beta unit sir.

I figured as much... the big question is... how to bring it back to life.

Have you tried to use qdl?

[Q] Help please....

hello...could anybody help me please...i was updating my htc magic to [ROM][32b] Official AOSP 2.2 OTA...but after i copied the update to sd,and i rebooted at the recovery menu i couldn't scroll to select the update.zip..it takes very long n i decided to pull out the battery n restart it again..unfortunately it went wrong somewhere n the phne keep on restarting again and again...i've tried to hard reset and all...but it won't works...help pleasee...
no replies yet...that's very sad..
If you can get to the recovery screen try wiping and factory reset.and flash a different rom. If that doesn't work. You can always do the unroot method by using the smping.mbh file or something like that. Look up how to unroot in google and you should know what I mean. Hope this helps

Well then you need to unroot your mytouch it basically puts it back in factory settings and you do it through fast boot. I'm guessing you have the original mytouch this how I did it

You don't need to get in recovery screen. Turn the phone off and hold the up volume button and the power button and fast boot the sapping.nbh file
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
What I did is:
Through fastboot I flashed SAPPIMG.nbh. It put my phone to the cupcake (1.5). Then I installed rooted HTC 1.6 update. After that I flashed any Rom I wanted.
Tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=586363
PS: This is the only working way I know since I am a noob too and finally got it going. Tried almost every rom in this section

okay done!thats very helpfull lucas...seems i tried to reboot wrongly...insted of pressing the volume up button,i pressed the down button...my bad! luckily the original stock rom is ok!so i dont need to restore to factory settings...now the only thing i had to do is,just update the cupcake to eclairs... now i have to read very2 carefully i think..coz there is alot of ways to root n update...hemm...which u suggest easier lucas??thanks alot dude...
You're very welcome. this method had saved my phone from being bricked like a hundred times.if the g2 had a fail safe like that I would of already rooted it. Glad I could help

yo lucas...sorry for the late reply..now the phone had the same problem again...i just tried to do recovery using ROM manager..but after it saves everything and reboot and the splash screen looping continuosly again..damn it..it's my 2n tiime now..grrrr!!i tried ur method n it didn't work...n seems there is alot of people with this same problem when i tried to search around..seems there is no better solutions yet for this "semi-brickd" problems..
So you can't put it back to stock? If you manage to get it back to stock by doing the same thing you did beforev you should try using a different recovery. aman-ra's recovery is the best for me. But I can't see how you can't get into the fastboot screen by pressing power and volume up,that's never failed for me. If its really impossible you should have tmobile replace it. I don't think they can tell you hacked it if they can't even get into fastboot.sorry if I took long to answer

[Q] Stock ATT to Steve's Froyo 1.4.6 - Possibly bricked?

Hey Guys,
First off I'm new to the streak. Picked mine up from my local best buy today. I read the PDF for beginners. Got mine rooted. Installed clockworkmod through Fastboot. Tried installing Steve's Froyo. Everything was going fine. It did the two reboots after the .mbn file. But when I flashed the rom in clockwork mod the notification bar didn't do it's thing all the way. Then it rebooted and hung on the dell logo.
I tried using fastboot to flash the recovery image but that requires access to the sd card once you but the phone into recovery.
I'm totally lost! Been trying to get my phone back to life for hours and I'm having no luck.
Can anyone help?
It was discused already!!!
Just do a factory reset and after, try to boot normaly.
Or do factrory reset, reflash the update.zip and so...
In most cases that helps!
G'day,
I wouldnt always trust the "update bar"... Quite a few times for me it seems to "abort early", though it has still worked fine.
Did you give it 8 or so mins to boot?... When you first flash it can take quite awhile for the initial boot.

Get the qdltool and install 2.2 that way... Easiest safest way...

I did a factory reset last night and it hung on the logo. Just did it again after seeing your post and it's still hanging on the logo. Been about 15 minutes now. Any suggestions?

Yes...I gave it at least 8 minutes to boot. It got stuck on the dell logo so after several minutes I went to the forums to see if there was a fix. It probably had between 20-30 minutes before I started doing anything else to it.

Where would I find the qdtool? That's if I can fix this thing.
Any other suggestions guys? I'm really pissed at myself for this happening and my wife is going to give me hell for dropping almost $600 US on a phone and bricking it.

Thanks bro. I'm actually a little afraid to try and upgrade. I ended up figuring out a way to unbrick my streak. I downloaded the recovery image and flashed that via fastboot. Then I manually loaded the o2 1.6 package on my sd card (couldn't access it through my phone because it was stuck on the dell logo). Flashed to o2 1.6 and then to 2.1. 2.1 is soooo much better than 1.6. And coming from a captivate it runs super fast even at stock.
I'm really happy I made the leap to the streak even with all the problems in the first two days. It's funny how both phone can run android but flashing and updating can be so different on each.
So I guess my question is...is Steve's Froyo worth it? I have my phone set up how I want it. It's quick, stable (except I don't think wifi is working, but that's okay because I have unlimited 3g) and polished. I'm not sure I want to be dealing with orientation locks and any other bugs that might be involved.
Anybody have an opinion on that?

RIP MY Streak

people say u cant brick a streak well i contest i cant get into recovery, fastboot, im stuck at the dell logo....ive run the qdl tool both versions....ive been tryin to get a stable version of any OS on my phone to work but nuttin will work everything was locking my phone up and freezing it or restarts ive went through the qdl in the past from 305 all the way to 319...went to 1.7.1 dj steve then 1.8.1 then 1.9 once i went to steves rom it was the start of the downfall of my streak...all programs would lock up the phone...games never worked....tried to get 351 on and it ****ed up then tried 347....now im just tryin to get anything on my phone and let it turn on .....RIP to my phone......ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!
Send back DELL for warranty ?
If you see logo it is not dead...
Follow the qdl directions and put the phone into special mode with black screen... once you get to 305.. flash streakmod recovery and then flash 351 or 354 update.zip. upon install completion do a battery pull and not a reboot and you should be good.... if you get flashing lights just update baseband from the wiki directories for whatever you flash.

Isn't the system sd supposed to be a linux format?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
No.
/10char
so why do i gotta pull out the internal and format it??? and once i format it to fat32 do just go back into the recovery and install???
try using the option fix permissions and clear the dalvik cache and see if that helps i find this usually fixes my force close problems not only on my streak but on many android devices hope this helps good luck
Step 1: What's in your install.txt?
If you want to go back to stock, fastboot the recovery of the stock rom you need/ want then put the update.pkg on ur sdcard and restore from there.

Very simple from here.........
Flash streakmod recovery and flash the update.zip for 351.... when it says done or complete, you must do a battery pull.... then on reboot it should come up stock...
The newer streaks crap out on reboot with external sd not being registered. A battery pull will get the external ad recoginized. I spent 3 hours teoubleshooting a newer streak and found I had to flash via streakmod and battery pull or it would never work

New StreakDroid Site

Looks like there is a new StreakDroid site. Hope im not dropping the ball on this but I needed to re-download the qdl tool as I just tried to flash Steve's 1.9.0 and im stuck in a boot loop. There are no downloads listed on the new site, so if anyone is willing to upload the current repair tool id sincerely appreciate it. My streak is my only phone, sooooo I got nothin right now.
Any help is appreciated
Try doing a factory reset from the first menu, re-flash the rom, then factory reset again. That always stops the boot loop for me.
I know DJ Steve was asking for help in keeping the site maintained, so it may be just in the process of being re-designed - haven't looked.

Do a factory reset from the stock recovery screen after the flash. 1.9.0 had been the dell logo boot loop fixer to me for weeks.

Ok thanks. Going to try again at work as my netbook is there and I have all I need on the computer. Got it back to 351 official for now.

Can't upgrade from 2.2

[Resolved]
Help, I downgraded from 2.3 to 2.2 for various reasons, but now when I try to upgrade again I just get the pink screen ,if I try using the option from settings/storage,it says key data couldn't be backed up , the installation will stop. Also if I boot into the system it runs fine for about a minute then locks up completely so I can't even continue to use it in 2.2 can anyone advise ?

Try to put the 2.3 dload folder to a sd card, then remove the battery, plug in a USB cable to the computer and the phone, volume up+down+power (if I remember right lol). See if it will update that way.
no, that's the usual way I've been flashing it, I can get to the image folder ,but it won't boot into recovery either

Odd. Maybe try to flash the ICS pink screen unlocker? I had weird issues at some point too, then I flashed that and the problems went away. Afterwards flash ICS.
Just tried that, still no luck,it doesn't even get to the unpacking screen,it just stays pink. beginning to think its beyond repair

I think it's still possible to fix it. I was loosing hopes too, but I messed around with it anyway and got it working. Just try different dload's, different methods and maybe you'll get it running. Maybe other users will have some ideas too.

Hi there!
I think when you upgrade from software menu there is an option for data back-up.
Uncheck this option and the error should go away.
Also what do you mean with this: "Also if I boot into the system it runs fine for about a minute then locks up" ?
What do you mean it locks up? Touchscreen is not responsive for example?
My suggestions:
1) Do a factory reset and then check if you can upgrade
2) Try re-installing your recovery(use cwm 5.0.27 by geno for best compatibility) or even replace the whole image folder with the froyo one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2146856
Your phone is not beyond repair that's for sure. Since it boots fine.

I haven't noticed an option for data backup, will check again later on. And yes when it locks up touch screen becomes unresponsive and none of the buttons respond either. Also when I try to enter recovery ,both custom and stock, it displays the kernel logo then vibrates with a black screen for a second then back to kernel logo and continues to boot.

Ok guys,I copied over the stock image folder and now it works ok, however I still can't upgrade from froyo. At least I can use it again though so thanks for your help, its much appreciated. Incidentally, there wasn't an option to back up data when upgrading, but that error has now gone, except it now just reboots instead, so I will just keep trying.
