[Q] Stock ATT to Steve's Froyo 1.4.6 - Possibly bricked? - Streak 5 General

Hey Guys,
First off I'm new to the streak. Picked mine up from my local best buy today. I read the PDF for beginners. Got mine rooted. Installed clockworkmod through Fastboot. Tried installing Steve's Froyo. Everything was going fine. It did the two reboots after the .mbn file. But when I flashed the rom in clockwork mod the notification bar didn't do it's thing all the way. Then it rebooted and hung on the dell logo.
I tried using fastboot to flash the recovery image but that requires access to the sd card once you but the phone into recovery.
I'm totally lost! Been trying to get my phone back to life for hours and I'm having no luck.
Can anyone help?

It was discused already!!!
Just do a factory reset and after, try to boot normaly.
Or do factrory reset, reflash the update.zip and so...
In most cases that helps!

G'day,
I wouldnt always trust the "update bar"... Quite a few times for me it seems to "abort early", though it has still worked fine.
Did you give it 8 or so mins to boot?... When you first flash it can take quite awhile for the initial boot.

Get the qdltool and install 2.2 that way... Easiest safest way...

I did a factory reset last night and it hung on the logo. Just did it again after seeing your post and it's still hanging on the logo. Been about 15 minutes now. Any suggestions?

Yes...I gave it at least 8 minutes to boot. It got stuck on the dell logo so after several minutes I went to the forums to see if there was a fix. It probably had between 20-30 minutes before I started doing anything else to it.

Where would I find the qdtool? That's if I can fix this thing.
Any other suggestions guys? I'm really pissed at myself for this happening and my wife is going to give me hell for dropping almost $600 US on a phone and bricking it.

Thanks bro. I'm actually a little afraid to try and upgrade. I ended up figuring out a way to unbrick my streak. I downloaded the recovery image and flashed that via fastboot. Then I manually loaded the o2 1.6 package on my sd card (couldn't access it through my phone because it was stuck on the dell logo). Flashed to o2 1.6 and then to 2.1. 2.1 is soooo much better than 1.6. And coming from a captivate it runs super fast even at stock.
I'm really happy I made the leap to the streak even with all the problems in the first two days. It's funny how both phone can run android but flashing and updating can be so different on each.
So I guess my question is...is Steve's Froyo worth it? I have my phone set up how I want it. It's quick, stable (except I don't think wifi is working, but that's okay because I have unlimited 3g) and polished. I'm not sure I want to be dealing with orientation locks and any other bugs that might be involved.
Anybody have an opinion on that?

Stuck at "Vibrant Samsung" screen - help please!

Okay so I updated to JI6 from KIES. I was having some problems after the update so I decided to restore my nandroid made by ROM Manager (a backup made before the update - at JFD). I restore it, phone reboots, etc. However, now it is stuck at the "Vibrant Samsung" screen -- you know the one that comes with the T-Mobile logo appears. The odd thing is I even hear the load-up sound that plays, but the phone does not go past the Vibrant screen.
Help please?
Oh and I can still boot into recovery mode...
You sure you are waiting long enough? Mine took about 5 minutes after the firmware upgrade to get past the samsung vibrant screen. I thought it was frozen at first but I guess it takes awhile after the firmware upgrade.
This is after I did the restore from ROM Manager -- not after the firmware upgrade.
This is caused by downgrading from ji6. If you nadroid on ji6 to stock it will brick. I believe the only way to fix would be through odin. Hope it gets worked out.

[Q] Need Help (semi bricked Streak) Beta Unit???

Hey Guys,
I need your help trying to bring this Dell Streak back from the grave.
Background: I got this Streak from a fellow who tried to put 2.2 on it but apparently did something wrong. Currently I have no Idea what build this is or even what country it's from but I have a few clues that may help.
While booting the Streak with the volume buttons it reads:
Factory Reset
Software upgrade from update.zip
Power off
near the bottom of the screen is the following: "DT: A2.643 Built Date: Dec 31 2009, 01:16:21"
While booting into fast boot mode the white screen comes up but where normally you would see the " Fast Boot" option on the upper right corner, there is nothing.
But if you connect it via USB the screen will change to "FASTBOOT_MODE".
One more clue is that the splash screen does come up and just hangs there but I found it interesting that it reads "Dell Confidential" under the Dell Logo.
So right now thats all it does, Hang on the Dell screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sounds like you have a beta unit sir.

Initially it spit up an error but after reboot everything came back ok and it now has 2.2!!!

Freaking out here might have bricked my phone...

So I was told to install the deodexed [sp] of the GB leak, so I did on top of my rooted, non deodexed version, without wiping. After this I wiped my data a few times, as I heard it would be best to do. Well, after doing so... my phone won't stop bootlooping. I can't access the bootstrapped bootloader, only the stock Moterola one, and I cleared my data with it hoping it would work too...
Help please? How do I "sbf" back to stock or whatever?
Yeah, I don't think it was possible to go from orginial GB leak straight to the rooted one.
You will need RSDLite 4.8 or higher and 2.3.340 sbf file. Both should be easily findable with a Google search. Follow SBF instructions from there.
I hope its ok to post this link here:
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-rs-guides/12015-complete-droid-x-sbf-flashing-guide.html
I did everything it told me to in that guide, but the spf got to 99% and said it failed. Now my phone says "code corrupt" on the bootloader screen fml
tried flashing it again, same thing happened. It failed at "switching phone to BP pass through" apparently. help me please

this is totally being lazy AND the reason why everyone is raising their prices on insurance and why ppl like motorola are locking bootloaders. if it is too much or you're too lazy to do it. dont do it in the first place. sbf isnt hard there are a gazillion guides to sbf'ing. not trying to be rude but seriously?
Yeah, I spf'd just fine (twice now cause I'm dumb lol) so problem solved. I would like some help in my other topic though, about GB deodexed.

you have to sbf to .340 use z4 root to root then install DX bootstraper reboot to recovery flash gbrooted.zip if you get stuck in bootloop go into factory recovery and wipe data reboot download and install D2 bootstrapper yes D2, boot into recovery and flash gbrooteddeodexed.zip and let it try and boot it SHOULD bootup after a couple of minutes, if it doesnt get into stock recovery and wipe data, reboot
also it could bootloop because of corrupt downloads

slfdjgdkkjfh! Damnit! I've been working on this all day and just now realized that the issue was that I wasn't using D2 bootstrap, I was still using the DX one and flashing deodexed right after the rooted one.

Yes it was a problem that I caused but at that momment I got scared and wasn't sure what I was suppose to do,and because I have no internet at home because i'm never home I use wireless tether when im there and my phone was messed up so wasn't able to look at guides to fix it.....So the easiest thing I thought of is calling them.I wouldn't have mind fixing it but again I wasn't able to at that momment.
I had the same thing happen. Put the letter p at the end of the file name and move it to c:\ this worked for me on rsd lite 4.8 I just kept pulling the battery and retrying until it went through

I'd just like to point out that you don't actually need rsd lite 4.8 or higher. 4.7 has worked perfectly for me the several times I have SBF'ed

New StreakDroid Site

Looks like there is a new StreakDroid site. Hope im not dropping the ball on this but I needed to re-download the qdl tool as I just tried to flash Steve's 1.9.0 and im stuck in a boot loop. There are no downloads listed on the new site, so if anyone is willing to upload the current repair tool id sincerely appreciate it. My streak is my only phone, sooooo I got nothin right now.
Any help is appreciated
Try doing a factory reset from the first menu, re-flash the rom, then factory reset again. That always stops the boot loop for me.
I know DJ Steve was asking for help in keeping the site maintained, so it may be just in the process of being re-designed - haven't looked.

Do a factory reset from the stock recovery screen after the flash. 1.9.0 had been the dell logo boot loop fixer to me for weeks.
Posted with StreakZilla, using XDA App.
Ok thanks. Going to try again at work as my netbook is there and I have all I need on the computer. Got it back to 351 official for now.

Need Advise Before Sending Back To Samsung

Hey Guy,
Need some quick advise. So I bought my N10 back when it launched and its been pretty great! I use it for watching videos, playing games, and teaching (Im a science teacher). Anyways, I use my tablet Daily... a lot... and its never given me any issues at all really. Well about a month ago I noticed it responding a little slow and really laggy for about 2-3 minutes, then it restarted itself. I figured it was no big deal cuz its done that before. Well this time it never turned back on and it just stayed at the Google boot up screen. So I restarted it manually and then it just stayed on the "X" screen forever... Never left either of these screens until the battery would die.
I reinstalled android using the Nexus Root Toolkit and it does the job every time. It works GREAT...but.... only for about 10 minutes, then it starts to get really laggy and then restarts again and gets stuck in the bootloop.
I have it under warranty through staples and they are telling me since its a software issue they want me to send it back to Samsung. If it was a physical issue like broken screen, they would have replaced it by now.
The Tablet isnt rooted. I always root my devices, but since this was a nexus I didnt think it was necessary...for me at least.
Thanks

Smash the screen and get the replacement lol. Anyways I don't see now its a software issue when you flashed the factory image and nothing changed. Try downloading the new 4.3 factory image from Google and flash it manually instead of with the toolkit. If you still have the problem then I'm pretty sure its something to do with the hardware though I don't know how the hardware would affect it getting stuck at boot screen. This is a confusing problem. Anyways according to most people Samsung won't be much of a help and you'll get you're tablet back a week or two later in the same condition. Some people have had good luck with them and got a fixed device back so I guess if your out of options you might as well give it a shot

No, you don't use ADB to flash image files. Stay in bootloader where you see it say "Fastboot enabled". Extract the system, userdata, recovery and boot image from the package to C:\Program Files\WugFresh Development\data.

Yeah man, thats what I thought, so I have tried it a few times and whenever I go to wipe cache....The tablet doesnt really do anything and then all of a sudden it restarts. What would cause that?
try to use the toolkit to flash a factory image of 4.2.2 (mind it formats all data, files, music etc). See if it works fine. then unlock, root the device and install a custom recovery (all with the toolkit). If everything works you will have a rooted 4.2.2. Try the tablet and the recovery to see if everything works. If it does you can upgrade to 4.3
Well if your still having issues then just send it to Samsung and when it comes back if its still not working take it to staples and tell them Samsung said its a hardware issue or something. I'm pretty sure they'll replace it. I've always had good support with staples
