Only Portrait mode

Hello,
I was wondering myself if its possible the run the dell streak forced to portrait mode. Do you know any possibility to do that? When you turn off autorotation, the streak is always in landscape...
Thank you very much and sorry for my bad english,
Mehmet

Use adw.launcher and select persistant mode.

I use the latest ADW Launcher EX with StreakDroid 1.8.1 and the "Only Portrait" mode doesn't work. It stays in landscape mode when enabled.
ADW Launcher bug?
And is it possible to put the whole Streak (not only ADW) in portrait mode?
On 1.8.1 I could do it ONLY with LauncherPro. Both built-in launcher and ADW don`t rotate to Portrait.
ADW Launcher EX does it, but only when set to "Auto Rotate" ... Not in "only portrait" ...
Use "go launcher ex" and uncheck rotation, it works fine for me
I don't wanna use another launcher.

does the streak remain ALWAYS, with all applications, in portrait mode?
No, of course not. It is just for launcher, not for the whole system.
I too want to use my Dell portrait only. I tried landscape, but the system just don't use it, I mean it will be useful if for example messages looks like on iPad (on left list of messages, on right preview), but how it is right now, you just see less information with landscape. Plus holding it with one hand in landscape is bit hazard for me (in public transport). I hope somebody will find solution.
And, no, really, unchecking the automatic rotation of screen when having it in portrait doesn't work. It works with other Android devices but not for Dell Streak (for no reason).
Hi,
I've been seeing the forum threads for portrait mode on the Dell Streak but all have just options for the launcher reorientation.
I have currently locked the system to landscape only since its extremely bothersome when the system is on auto rotate and it rotates by 180 degrees. However even with this, there are apps like Astrid tasks, etc which have some of their screens in portrait - which is a bit irritating...
With the landscape mode its not possible to try an operate the device with one hand. In the portrait mode it is a bit more easier to reach with the thumb across the screen to the opposite side corners and by sliding the hand down the entire screen can be accessed with a single hand when you have to.
Is there some mode where the full system can be made completely in portrait? Of course its understandable that select apps like Klondike, etc will run only on their default landscape mode but is there nothing that can be done for the rest of the system? Something that can probably just be included as a command in the install.txt file for Streakdroid packages perhaps?
I run Streakdroid 1.9.0 and love the new Stage UI. Not particularly impressed with ADW or LauncherPro.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Homescreen Rotation in GB

Is there anyone running a GB build with a homescreen that rotates to landscape? So far I have tried 2 builds and neither worked. It was suggested to TRY adw ex but since its a pay app, Id like to get some feedback that it worked before i buy it.

So no one has a rotating home screen using Gingerbread? Im just asking for confirmation from someone.
I am using MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.5 and mine works just fine.
I am using this as well, (MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.5) and landscape works just fine, even with the non ex, free ADW.
I'm using NexusHD2 Gingerbread v2 and it works fine as well. I'm not using the stock launcher though - I use Launcher Pro (I use the paid version for extra features, but there is a free one).
If your using: ADW Launcher, Go to it's Settings / UI Settings / Screen Preferences / Home Orientation: Auto/sensor
That gets it to rotate into Landscape.
auto rotate home?
i got pure gingerbreak cwm 1.9 i think and i cant get it to rotate to landscape on the home screen or the launcher either ....i scoured the settings all i could find is auto rotate and it was already checked
or try imilkas rom it works perfectly.

Auto Rotation does not work on stock launcher. Use an alternative such as LauncherPro or ADW launcher to get the rotation feature.

Swipe to change home screens not working all the time!

Ok so this is a weird problem.
90% of the time the phone works 100% perfectly.
Sometimes when I try to swipe between homescreens the phone does nothing...its not locked up because the capacitive buttons work, and tapping the bottons on the bottom will let me switch home screens without a problem, it is JUST swiping that wont work.
A reboot of the phone makes swiping work again...any ideas? This is super weird.
Are you using the default Gingerbread launcher? I heard a lot of people were having trouble with that at the outset. Haven't heard as much about it lately, but I'm not sure if that's because it's been fixed or just because everyone's either learned to live with it or switched launchers.
Back when I was using the stock launcher, I experienced that a few times too. I also experienced other glitches and oddities, like difficulty in moving icons on my home screen or sometimes when trying to move icons, they would disappear and appear instead in a folder. Very random stuff. Anyway, the screen swiping issue also showed up a few times.
I've since switched to ADW launcher and haven't looked back.
Gingerbread is glitchy. That much is clear. Hopefully Google will issue more bug fixes soon.
Training am using the stock launcher. I really like the 3d app drawer and it is buggy in launcher pro. How is it in adw?

I find ADW to be thoroughly awesome. You can give the free ADW.Launcher a try, but it's missing a few features that are in the paid version ADWLauncher EX, including the 3D app drawer. Unfortunately, you don't get much of a trial period now that Google has reduced their refund window to 15 minutes, but you ought to be able to test out the app drawer and play around with the other features at least a bit in that time if you want.
I too vouch for ADW. The free version itself is quite an excellent launcher. I used to be an avid LauncherPro fan back on my Vibrant, but on the Nexus S, ADW is smooth as butter. The ability to customize your icons on the home screen (which is only available in the paid LP version) is great too. Virtually no hiccups whatsoever swiping through screens.
Either case, it's tons better than stock launcher.
I have the same exact problem and I'm all stock. I usually reboot all apps and programs using FastReboot from the market and it goes back to normal. I agree that Gingerbread still has its glitches still =[
So if o pay for adw launcher the 3d drawer works fine?

Who knows? Download it and see. All I can tell you is it works great for me.
The stock launcher is buggy as hell. I use launcher pro and it runs flawlessly.

The 3d app drawer (called 4d app drawer in adw) runs horribly on the nexus s. If you plan on changing launchers, adw is good, but the only decent app drawer to select for it is horizontal fling.
Adw holds up relatively well now on the nexus s (ran like arse on 2.3.1). Sometimes however adw will all of a sudden freeze though. You think your phone is frozen but it's not, the launcher has just slowed down to a crawl. The launcher buttons at the bottom work fine when this issue occurs, but swiping of screens will appear not to work.
If you get this problem in adw, you have to go into applications and find adw, then force close it (it doesn't appear as running under task killers, so you can't kill it from there). It will then run fine again. I have had this happen a couple of times with adw and I used to think I had to reset the phone. Was a pain.
The stock launcher problem you have stated in this thread I have encountered as well, which is why I moved to adw. While the stock launcher appears to use acceleration in the app drawer, which i love too, the regular launcher home screens are basically unusable at this stage. I hope they fix it soon, but it likely wont be for a while.
This happened on my G1, my Nexus One and my Nexus S.
I finally wised up and installed LauncherPro (on my N1 and NS) and the problem doesn't happen anymore. In fact, LauncherPro is way faster than the default launcher.
The age-old (and largely pointless) debate between LP and ADW aside, the OP already said LP didn't work well for him.
Hit Menu > Manage Applications > Running > Menu > Show Cached Processes > Launcher > Stop > Home
Swiping will work again after that, until the next time the bug occurs. Quicker than rebooting though.

As opposed to just swipe >.

I have launcher pro and it works fine. I just really like the 3d drawer which didnt really work well in launcher pro.
I'll just deal for now that problem comes up like once a week so its not a huge deal
Wow that worked...thanks

launcher pro vs ADW?
I want to get something new too but I don't want to customize my phone TOO much because of the steep learning curve and having to remember how things work.
Anyone know which of the two is most similar to the stock launcher?

Adding extra home screens

ok, hi all been a while I hope your all well.
I have become frustrated with my arc, and the fact that there are only 5 pages on the home screen, I Get my widgets perfect, then I have to reshuffle everything if I want to add something new, is there a way around this I've been searching but can't see one, please help. Thanks, Amanda
I was frustrated too with this and also default launcher constantanly re-arranging my icons. So I stopped using it.
So after evaluating other launchers, finally settled on Go Launcher on my arc.
Infinite home screens and fancy transitions effects.
You can try this tutorial

Funki, I used go launcher very briefly. But I found it chews memory and kept freezing etc duo you have these problems
Devilbabi Fine Arts

possible split screen bug g5 plus oreo stock

ello! if I'm using the split screen and touch home, The windows arent minimized correctly.
It even removes the labels to the icons and makes them smaller.
I use Nova launcher, I try with default launcher with same results.
I don't factory reset, if anyone can confirm that's only me ...I restart it in seconds
It seems to be intended behaviour so that you can launch the 2nd app from your launcher. It even scales down the launcher properly.
