I have an HTC HD2 phone, but I converted it to run on android Froyo 2.2. M \y problem now is that I just received a rom update for my phone, but I don't know how to get the update because when my phone powers off it goes back to being a windows phone, yet the new update requires the phone to power off when it updates. What can I do to get the update?

Nothing, just wait until a new custom rom with these upgrades included is released and upgrade manually.

What do you thinks gonna happen when you phone restarts? That update it for the device the android was built for.
The hd2 is running a port. The update you're seeing is meant for if you are using a native android phone that this port is taken from. If you did manage to do the ota update, it wouldn't run on the hd2 because its an official update meant for official android phone. You will have to wait until the chef updates the port.

how can i make my phone boot up andriod 2.2, got message to update but when i try it, it reboots andriod doesnt want to update
You DO NOT update using the ota updates. Those are ment for phones that have rom's on the nand not ours. We have to shoehorn android on our phones. It probably wont do anything at all so just decline the message.

By update do you mean an firmware update or an app update? If firmware update, you shouldn't really be updating your device as the hd2 wasn't meant to receive that update in the first place.
When I choose the option to search for a update, it found one. Then I try to insyall, because it have to reboot I never get the chance to install.
I also haverá problems to make a call when connected to my Parrot.
Anyone can help me?

You cant run updates through phone. You must/should update through developers page, etc.
its a rooted phone, never auto update.

Not only that, but the HD2 is not a native android phone. Android is hacked onto it. It's a port. No official updates from HTC or any carriers.
Rooted phones can't auto-update?

That's what I meant to say with my limited English
Well said.
Your phone will never be recognized as an Android HD2... cause it doesn't exist.
So you're trying to update the NAND of another phone... you're lucky it doesn't work
Update via the thread of the build you used (or with another build).

actually if the rom is taken from another phone and not changed at all except to boot on the hd2 and is only rooted i could see it trying to get updates
I can see that almost all of you received an update. Mine is not rooted and when I check for updates manually it says that my phone software is uptodate. Any suggestions ?

If I am correct HTC decided to undo the update because it caused more problems than it solved, so just wait for another one
^^ Correct.
Even I haven't been able to get the update. HTC pulled the 1.72/1.75 software update becuase it had too many bugs. They are working on another OTA.
Be patient .
I'm working with 1.72 and it works like a charm (Android Revolution HD over it)
I have HD2 with WP7 and updated ROM 7.0.7008.0 I plugged my phone in today and a update came up but will not let me update
same problem as before the hd2 is not the hd7 the software update need an id from phone to update first boot during installing the updates doesn't respond soon enough and times out end of install like hitting cancel

Come on mate, read up, there are numerous posts and questions about this.
The HD2 uses a special bootloader and rom, you will not be able to use any OTA updates.
Wait unil one of the chefs cooks it in.
Reading and searching is very hard these days

Why was this posted on the development, as well as in the Q&A and general section?
Hi all, I've had my desire hd for about 3 weeks, the other day I went to update the software in it but when it checks for it, it says no software update available and that my phone is up to date, I am currently on 1.39??? Is this correct? Or is there a next update for my phone? If there is how do I get it?? Or is there a problem with my phone?? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated, also I'm in the u.k as well, ok thanks everyone

You got a network branded phone?
You can root and install a custom rom anyway, this will offer you the most up to date roms anyway.
Yeah mate its Vodafone branded, in all fairness every other phone I've owned I have either flashed, jailbroken, or rooted and to be honest I just wanted to steer clear of that and just stick with stock firmware, I'm really happy with my stock dhd but obviously if an update is available that's gonna improve it, then I'll do it, but I'm checking for updates but nothing is happening :-( I was just wondering if I should either be patient or send my phone for repair or even if there is an update available at all???

If you root, S-OFF, Radio S-OFF and then flash a Generic 1.32 WWE HTC RUU then you can follow the update to the latest HTC firmware.
Your DHD will then have the latest firmware and receive any future updates weeks if not months before they get pushed to you by your carrier/network.

I have a stock DHD, unbranded and on 1.32. No updates here...
Just an FYI post this, but I am also wondering if something is up based on what you just said.
The latest official HTC base is 1.84.61.2
You should try *#*#2432546#*#* (checkin).

Right thanks. No joy here still. Is there a way of manually pushing the update and if so will it affect future updates?
Are you rooted, etc...? Have you tried setting your date 1-2 months in advance? This worked for my HTC Hero with the 2.1 update ages ago.
Other than flashing a custom sense based ROM which has the 1.84.61.2 base we just have to wait until the update gets pushed. I would of thought that you would of have had the update, even Vodafone UK are now pushing 1.84.xx.x
reflash the RUU again. Maybe you have uninstalled some system apps.
guys the ota update is currently only for south east asia

anyone with nonbranded europian update can share it? should be in your update folder on your sd. Prolly it is the only file in the update folder on sdcard, should be in ace.1.84.720.3.bla bla convention. btw file is deleted after installation , so copy it to your puter before installing the update.
thx so much
why are u posting on every thread?
