Anyone know of any android keyboard that has a much better response time? None of the ones I've tried are "fast" enough for me and do not seem to register my keystrokes.. I am forcing myself to try to write slower and I hate having to do that and I shouldn't have to.
If you're not sure what I mean, the easiest way to see this would be to try to type "hahahahaha" or something of the sort as fast as you can. If this is a universal software/hardware issue (and not just a defective device), you should see that it will register LITTLE or even NONE of these characters. I know the phone itself is registering these keypresses, as I can see the zoomed image of the letter come up on each press, but the keyboard does not seem to be adding it to the text box.

swype is very good but i feel i can be much more accurate and faster over time with a more traditional keyboard
had a few guys on the IRC channel try this, seems like they're not having the issue. i guess first thing would be can anyone reproduce this?
smart keyboard is good. you can find that in the android market

I had the opportunity to try this on another incredible today and am getting the same result. Cannot just be coincidence. Really? No one else?

As asked in the subject......
Anyone?

XDA app doesn't do that for me, but Taptalk does.
Forgive My Brevity. To Be Or Not To Be...
yeah i get the FC for tapatalk
Constant force-closes on the XDA app for me - though lately it's been better. Also, it constantly gets stuck while loading - I have to hit the "back" button and tap again, and it'll work.
I find that I get fewer force-closes if I have WiFi on.
I get it in the XDA app also although i doubt this may be it but I've replied to a few posts and when I reply with softkeyboard it seems to send with no issue. If i use the hardwarekeyboard even if i close it then hit submit i seem to still get the FC. Im not sure if thats something to look into cuz it may be the length of the post also. When i have something short and simple i use the softkeyboard and when its long i use the hardware one so maybe happening on longer posts/replies???
Using tapatalk. No fc's but it gets stuck alot.

(This 5 minute thing is kinda annoying....that's what I get for lurking for so long Stupid old tp1 and hating xda...)
Tg4 my epic
I get the forecloses to makes me wonder if I an going to get them when I write this lol

I have not really done too much troubleshooting on this but I noticed apps like Network Counter and TrafficInfo show keyboards like swype and 1 or 2 others as xmitting traffic out. Thougt someone more familiar with how droid reads net data might know why. I dont think either net app is malfunctioning nor the keyboard apps so it might simply be a bug.
Only tested on a gtab btw.

I guess I should have titled this "is swype swyping your data?" Lol

Shame the XDA app forces closed on Xoom... does anyone have a workaround?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
this is a known issue and hopefully someone is working on it.
Tapatalk is basically the same app and works fine
i have the same and I paid for the app.......is anybody actively fixing this?
I have been using the XDA app since day 1. The only thing I have found I have to do is exit fully when done. I.e. I hit the back button till the app closes. If I leave it open for any significant time in the background it either gets stuck on the splash or whatever page I was on last. At that stage I force close and reopen it.

for some unknown reason the app works fine on the verizon xoom, but FCs for wifi-only; someone reported the same problem on the wifi-only transformer, so its got something to do with honeycomb without mobile data (some kind of id# or something?)

Wow. Really? So THAT'S why it crashes on tablets? I had always assumed it had something to do with the resolution being much higher than on a phone, but since you say the Verizon XOOM works, that blows that theory out of the water... I am going to see if my superiors have any idea why this is happening or if they can contact Tapatalk to fix the problem.
Fyi this problem does not exist on tapatalk.. has to do with something xda does differently
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
I have the Verizon xoom as well and I never had a force close. It does act weird sometimes, but it does on my nexus one as well.

Also goes along with what I've heard in the past... From what I've read, Tapatalk's standard client used to have this issue, but then it was fixed. Perhaps the XDA app can be rebased to the newer Tapatalk.
I have had no FC's on my WiFi only Canadian MZ604.
What I do have, though, is a weird scrolling issue on certain threads where the text will copy itself onto every pixel it crosses until I stop scrolling and the screen refreshes.
I did note that it seems to happen mostly with hyperlinked text. Another possibility is text that has had it's color changed. Will have to play around with it some more to confirm this.
i just use the browser now. Its no big deal with the bigger screen.
It would FC on my Nook Color as well, which is wifi only. I was hoping for a better experience once I got my Xoom wifi (I also got the paid app) but it behaves exactly the same: as soon as I log in it FCs.

This happens to me on both xda and tapatalk, I think its a combo of hyperlinks and long texts... weird thing is, it happens in quoted text too, but not in the post that quotes the text

This mirrors my experience as well. Zero FCs since day one but do see the scrolling issues.

I would agree with you, but vBulletin forums (like XDA) are unacceptably laggy in typing posts on the Xoom.
That, and it's good to have options.

Just get tapatalk pro. It works on wifi only, just get some weird text drag when scrolling long posts. Plus you can access any other native forum you like. I have the xda prem app on my hd2 to support xda and tapatalk on my xoom

Does anyone have Swype keyboard working on the HKTW 2.3.4? I have tried installing it and the keyboard shows up but swyping doesn't actually work. You still have to press each individual key. Is this just a bug that no one has noticed or do I have to do something different?

That happened to me at first, I believe it's related to not being licensed. Run the installer again, follow the prompts for 'generate license' and it should work. I have it working now. Restoring the app itself doesn't seem to work.
I ran the installer and had an update. Updated and still nothing. It sucks because i almost forgot how to text without it.

i had teh same issue with a tibu restore but i uninstalled both the swype installer and keyboard and did a fresh install and its been working so far.
Will try that. Thank you.
