QDLtool to go from 1.5.0 to Froyo - Streak 5 General

Is it possible to use QDLtool on a Streak that's been flashed with DJ Steve's 1.5 to go to the 305 version of Froyo?
I upgraded my Streak from 1.6 to 2.2, so would I just be able to hook up a different Streak to my computer and flash the 305?
Thanks

Yes...you can.......at least I can do in mine....
Greetings.

How to un-flash Bionix rom and go back to ji6 firmware?

Ok so I flashed the latest Bionix Froyo rom onto my Vibrant and I don't really enjoy the hiccups found in the rom. I would like to go back to the Ji6 updateand wait for the official 2.2 update from Samsung. Can someone explain to me how i would do so?

Odin back to stock JFD then update to JI6

In theory, you could flash Anderoid's AOSPish 1.4 which will bring your kernel back to 2.1 and then flash the stock J16 rom over that.

Would that work? That would be so much easier than using odin.

Yeah, aospish has the kernel included, so it shouldn't give you any problems.

Rooting my O2 2.2 updated streak

Hi all,
I updated my streak yesterday to 2.2. The process went very smoothly. I have tried universal androot and superuser to root since then...but neither work.
I want to install the new market apk but understand I need to root before it will install (parsing problem).
Any help on rooting other than those two apps??
Thanks!!

Super One Click is your baby -- at least, it worked for me on build 12821 (got fed up waiting for O2).
I'm having the same problem. Can't root anymore with any tool like Z4root 1.3 or andro root. I need to root to install larger fonts
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
can confirm tht super one click works for the o2 rom....universal and z4 dont...
Oneclick is superuser...tried that..no joy
Just read that I should have unrooted before updating to 2.2?? Can anyone confirm this is the case? Is this user-error? :$
Any more suggestions as to what can be done if that is the problem??
Thanks for all help!!

Using one app called Font Size which you buy from the market. But the Streak must ne rooted

Might help others but I just sent myself the APK file googlemail and installed directly.
I can confirm that superoneclick 1.5 works on 2.2 to unlock once you understand how to use it!

Delete the file 'smdl2tmp1.asec' from inside the '.android_secure' folder on the SD card and then try again.
This is all bullcrap, unknown reason ~ error 18 always occurs when your internet is jumpy or unstable, like working one mimute not the next, it skips some files when downloading.. comnect to wifi, or wait till your internet is working good, then do it

What's the best way to root my device?

My device was recently updated to 2.2 froyo using the qdl tool... I now would like to root it, but have no idea on how to. Can someone please point me in the direction on which would be the best way to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
What are you planning next? Which baseband are you on now? The version that the qdltool installs is 305 and you should upgrade to 318 if you are staying stock. If you are staying stock get to the version you want then root with SuperOneClick. There are a lot of threads about that.
If you plan on using one of the Streakdroid roms than go to streakdroid.com and read the guides there. If you install one of these it's pre-rooted.

I found z4root to be an easy rooting process for me.
First, thanks so much for the immediate response.
My baseband is 318. I tried oneclick and kept getting the error / failed message.
I do plan to stay stock for a while, but would like to try an unofficial rom sometime in the near future because I have two streaks.

Search the web for z4root app 1.3.0
I've tried superoneclick (all versions)... and z4root, and none of them worked for me at all. )0: Guess I'm stuck with an unrooted device huh?

I had to remove my sd card to get SOC to work with my phone. (baseband 318)
I've tried tht as well, and still no joy. I also have baseband 318.

I was able to have success with superoneclick ver. 1.5.5
Make sure you run the application as admin and usb debugging is checked.
Before you connect to your computer turn off, take battery out, restart.
Start superoneclick as admin, THEN connect to pc.
Goodluck. That is how it worked for me.
Ok, so after I eject the battery and replace it again, do I turn the phone back on at this point, or does it to remain off thru out the process?

Hahah thats what I was asking myself after I rooted my phone lol
Very confused lol. I noticed after updated to the official 2.2 (baseband 318), the network icon at the top now display an "H" instead of 3G... Is this ok, or did I lose my 3G?

The Streaks locked to AT&T never showed when they were connected by HSPA. Unlocked Streaks and the ones running Steve's ROMs do. HSPA is a faster than standard 3G so when you see the H it's a good thing.
Nice! Thanks Marvin!

Does anyone know how to enable emlist or terminal on the streak after it has been rooted? I rooted my streak on 1.6 before using QDl to update it to 2.2 and those apps were automatically enabled. Now that I have rooted it again wjile on 2.2 I don't see terminal or emlist (well emlist is visible but I can't mess around with it)

The best stable rom till now is streakdroid 1.9.1b7.
be sure to make to do factory reset from first recovery (the one with 4 options , for reset choose option1)
either use streakmod recovery / clockmod recovery. Do clear dalvik cache and clear cache partition after flashing rom .
Ok many thanks, does it look the same as stock 2.2? And does it run faster?

Dude don't post the beta site. When you do that Steve takes it down, and then people who actually contribute to his work can't access it.

Yo Jitin, would you plz remove that link to the Beta's from this thread? much obliged,
I just tried the playdoh rom and love battery life. No glitches so far.
The ss1.2 was great and included su. I used setcpu to back off processor when screen off but it didn't seem to make much difference on battery.
Steve's 1.9.0 is awesome but I had a few glitches with it. Hoping 1.9.1 is the answer when testing finishes.
Yup..

I just flashed to the stable streakdroid 1.9 from the streakdroid site. Seems to be doing well thus far. The real test for me is if the battery life is much better than the stock 2.2.2 ROM that I have been running.
M just telling the best rom til now
Steve has not said that no one should spread his rom or spread his name
It is the best rom that u will also not regret
And is stabl
