Ok so here's what happended I used boot animation to change my boot screen. Since then everytime I reboot my phone it goes to the clockworkmod recovery screen and i'll have to select reboot system now to get the phone to boot right. Tried a restore if the phone and still does it. Also tried to repair permissions through rom manager. Any ideas of what to do?
Thanks!

This is one of the problems of having to bootstrap the recovery. If it really bothers you that much you could try SBFing.

Is this stock or a custom rom?
Have you tried getting your boot screen back to its original form?
ok heres the situation, i tried to root my wifes mytouch 4g...i have rooted before, so i figured hey wtf lets give it a go, i got clock work 3.0.0.5 installed fine, but i cant get a restore to work or anything form there...i can do clock work and hboot/fastboot...nothing else...cyanogen just causes splash screen free...and so does anything else i flash...now i downloaded pd15img.zip and attempted to use that...but it just fills the blue bar in hboot and says checking pd15img.zip then goes back to hboot main screen i am never asked to load the zip with volume...please ladies and gents i know im not completely done here...and if i am i will get a replacement, but it seems like it should be an easy fix...what am i doing wrong...if i try to reflash recoveries in fastsboot i get signature verify error
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944681
this happened to me as well. i went to ice glacier and then followed the instructions on the link
You cannot use 3.0.0.5 for stock. You must flash an older recovery or 3.0.0.6 and then it will work. This is covered extensively and has been asked over and over again.
Flash the correct recovery for the rom you want to use and your problem will be solved.

i tried...
i have loaded other roms...i cant get a single one to make it past the splash screen...i cant flash another recovery from fastboot...i am baffled, you would think if i have fastboot...hboot...and clockwork it owuld be an EASY fix...anyone point me a lil further in the right direction, i dont mean to be dense i been up for a LONG time trying to figure this out, now im at work...slow day...and if i can fix this before i get home my wife will be SO HAPPY..so which version of ice glacier i just tried 1.1
?
Just flash 3.0. 6 and flash the rom you like, you should be good to go, you can set up web to flash the recovery... hope it goes smoothly =)

Also sometimes it takes a while to boot, how long do you give it?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
i can set up what to flash the recovery? i cant flash through fastboot i get a signiture error, no matter WHAT recovery i use...old...new....05...doesnt matter and im at 05 right now...i know i need 6...i think that owuld fix me to...but i have NOT A CLUE how to obtain a new recovery without being able to move past the splash screen...i can boot into hboot...fastboot...and clockwork...nothing else.
like 20-30-40mins at a time, and it just stays on the splash
If the computer recognizes your device in pretty sure you can set up adb. Thanks flash recovery through there, you should have been able to flash Glacier, you must be doing something wrong, try flashing and stock zip through recover maybe?

how can i use the adb outside of android? i must have missed something , i typed adb devices while my device was in recovery it found it and said recovery next to it...what are the commands to issue a flash recovery? flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img ? and where do i enter them? with my device in the recovery? or fastboot? hboot? sorry guys, im burining it too hard at both ends...my brains toast...im open to any thing you got

lol you're thinking at light speed bro...
i'm not exactly sure of the commands but i know if you've got adb set up you should be able to do it. maybe adb shell?? i have no idea as i'm not a developer.
i'm confused why you couldn't get royal glacier flashed, it shouldn't matter which recovery you have with 2.2 roms. sounds like your phone just doesn't want to comply...
forgive me... as this is much a partial question as it is a suggestion... (coming from WinMo to Android myself) but can't Clockwork Mod be updated FROM Clockworkmod recovery??
I seem to recall that update.zip is the install for the clockworkmod install... and there's an option within clockwork to install update.zip... isn't that correct?
If so... wouldn't you just download the .zip for 3.0.0.6, copy it to the microSD and install it, then install the ROM of choice?

flash through recovery go into the bootloader (bootloader=phone off volume down hold power) use the volume rockers and go to recovery and boot into CLOCKWORKMOD recovery which is what you said you have then do a full wipe and install rom normally. if you cant do this then no offense but you really shouldnt be messing with your phone... if all else fails download the stock rom and flash through the bootloader
wen u say install rom normally..wat do u mean?? i did carry out a full wipe..n rebooted my phone..but froze there!!

download the ROMNAME.zip put it on your sdcard where you can find it then go into clockworkmod recovery and go to install zip from sdcard choose zip from sdcard navigate to where you saved your ROMNAME.zip select it and it will install use virtuous sense and stick with that cause if anything happens you seem new and i dont think you will know how to fix it...
and wiping isn't gonna magically fix the fact that your operating system is f'd up but you should wipe before flashing a new rom cause it will screw up the new rom flashed
leme download and flash with a new rom! thank u!..

The clockworkmod method doesn't always work.
Mine right now is doing this same problem and when I go into recovery Clockworkmod only gives me the red triangle of death. And yes, all my recoveries are flashed with the correct versions. (I know what I'm doing)
Sometimes there's just a series of things that all goes wrong in the perfect order.
Please help!
I am running ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
I'm running cyanogenmod 7.2 and I wasn't really trying to do anything. Just checking the options in recovery mode because I am preparing to sell this phone.
But now I can't get out of recovery. If I select reboot now I just get the clockwordmod recovery logo and it just sits there. Same thing if I select turn phone off.
Has this ever happened to anyone before?! Please help.
Again I wasn't trying to flash anything...change anything...really do anything. And I've been running CM7 for quite a while without issue so not sure why this is happening now.
Any help much appreciated!
Yes I do have a nandroid but it isn't very current so I'd prefer not to use it (not sure it would work anyway) if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance!
Did you use trackpad to select reboot?

Yeah I guess I was worried that would completely brick the phone but it actually did the trick. Thanks.
Still curious what I can do to prevent this from happening in the future...as I would like to sell a fully functioning stable phone.
Thanks though and sorry for the panic post!

I prefer to use recovery to flash roms over the rom manager, but any tiime i make a selection from the main menu, it just shows the clockwork logo and doesn't go anywhere. Does anyone know how to fix it so that I could navigate recovery?
Thanks

I have a client's Atnt galaxy s4 that will not boot up normally and will not boot into recovery also.
when i try to boot into recovery i get the blue lettering in the top left and it just sits there i have let it sit for sometime like that with no change.
this is not my first go around with flashing android devices so please even give me Dev only options if that is what you think will fix it. i feel bad because he just bought this phone 2 weeks ago and cant use it. not sure what the other guy that tried to root it did and neither does he so i am shooting in the dark so any help would be great.
I have tried flashing the stock Odin package with no luck.
Also tried Kies Firmware upgrade with no luck
Most of the custom recovery for this phone from what i read are not flashed threw odin anymore, but if i am wrong please link me and i will give it a shot.
Dose anyone have any ideas someone told me to use the .PIT file and re-partition the device and reflash the stock odin package. but i have had no luck locating the .pit file for the I337 galaxy S4 could anyone grab it from there phone and upload it for me or any ideas on how i could possibly fix this issue.
Thanks in advance
Since you already tried ODIN, why don't you try KIES.
I tried that allrdy just forgot to add it to the list updated first post

EDIT: Problem solved by scott14719. Here it is: As soon as you feel the phone vibrate, immediately let go of the power button but continue to hold the other buttons until the recovery boots, then let go of them.

if the os isnt hosed just download goomanager and install the recovery then download a touchwiz rom that has an extended reboot menu, you can then just boot into recovery from the OS.

In addition to letting go of the power button after the vibrate, here are a couple of other things that appear to have worked for other forum members. I didn't discover any of these fixes, I just did a lot of reading and saw where others have had similar problems and found ways to solve them. That is what makes the XDA community great:
Uppercuticus said:
I've had this happen to me several times while playing around with flashing. Basically (without fail in my experience), hold power+volume up+home as you'd normally do until you see the booting recovery message and let go. It will do one of two things - boot into recovery- or - restart and vibrate-. If it restarts and vibrates, immediately hold power+volume up+home until the booting recovery message pops up again and let go. It should then boot into recovery and you shouldn't have trouble in subsequent attempts.
It took me a while to figure this out and I actually thought I had permanently bricked my phone as the phone wouldn't boot and I couldn't get into recovery. Hope this helps.

After using ODIN, make sure to do a software (factory reset) to get rid of any data and settings that stayed behind. The firmware packages that we have for Odin, do not wipe everything on their own.

here are all the details;
Rooted ATT Galaxy S4 MK2 with Busybox. all went well until I tried to flash and boot into recovery. Installed ClockworkMod Recovery, tried to reboot into recovery...permission error. Installed Team Win Recovery, same problem.
investigated... Superuser.apk for some reason is NOT present in app directory. hmm. checked for root, have root.
installed ClockworkMod Superuser from play store... asks to update superuser... fails with signature error.
There seems to be no way to flash this phone. I have the original backup I made with ClockworkMod but restore fails with signature error.
The phone works fine, has root but I am concerned I will not be able to update to 4.4 when it's available. I am also NOT able to flash any alternative ROM. frustrating.
I see there are relatives to this issue all over xda but as far as I can tell after a weekend of trying is there's NO WAY to boot into recovery with write permissions being allowed.
