I believe you have to save it within the Android folder, not just on the SD card.
You shouldn't be putting it anywhere yourself. The game will decide where the data goes, and you should leave it there.
Are you saying that you've moved it and now the game wants to download it again?
Big games that come with data...hmmm, not from the market. Nor anywhere else. Most every game that you buy from market have to download data later, same with sites like Gameloft...install first then it downloads data after it is installed. Except in one small case that I am aWAREZ of....
You kinda gave it away by mentioning the disabling of the network (airplane mode) so as to bypass the security check on installation. Tsk Tsk.

Hey i just threw on that sims 3 apk from that new samsung vibrant onto the EVO. It works full speed but theres one major issue. everything in the world is black. The sims them selfs are proper u can see them wiith all there colors and textures. Would anyone have an idea to make this work? I know its made for that other phone but i read that they got this to run perfectly on other phones.
I think the compatibility with snapdragon processors is a no go. No Sims on the Evo
thats to bad if only the textures on the world would show. its runs great. I am shocked there only releasing it for that phone.
most likely the textures are stored somewhere else, not in the apk. kinda like how the gameloft games download data to the SD card.
Problem is you'll need someone with the phone to extract and upload them all. I can't even find the sims 3 apk to test on my nexus.

Doesn't work on the Slide either. I think it's a bad rip.
I doubt there'd be textures stored somewhere else if the apk was 72 MB.
The old 12 MB version works fine. Hopefully it can get cleared up soon.
EDIT: Found something. Prob can't post the website because they host the files.
1. Go into your phones settings (or where ever your rom has the apps to sd option) and turn on Apps to Sd. Make sure you check external under Install Location (if you have lithium mod).
2. Go into your file manager app and install the big file first. It should be titled “01 TeeEssThree.apk”. Hit done. Do not open the app yet!
3. Go back to your apps to sd settings, this time putting the option on automatic , or turning it off apps to sd completely…either or.
4. Go back into your file manager and install the second file. It should be titled “Sims3_Samsung_Embed_Launcher.apk”. After it installs close out of your file manager.
ALL DONE! Your game should be ready to play!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFKtbZOtSPs&feature=player_embedded Here's a vid of it working on DX
EDIT again: Method didn't work for me. Maybe you guys can try it
EDIT: Oh my crap didn't realize how old this thread was. Sorry. I was just googling around trying to find how to install it.
i have tried and failed to start after the game intro..
- Dungeon Hunter2
- Hawx
- Modern Combat 2
Model: EU HD2
Rom: imilka's Ram Desire HD v2.0(a2sd 1gb)
and Hyper Droid CM7(1gb Ext4)
isit a rom problem??
anyone here have problem with the game???
i am considering buy from gameloft ..but i wonder it is worked for my phone .
Asphalt 6 won"t start for me.Just goes to home screen after Intro video.
really??i just downloading..
i will test !!
All my Gameloft games work on Sergio Corefroid 1.6, you could try fixing permissions then rebooting.
Gameloft games are good but vastly overpriced therefore i downloaded them for free
I noticed gameloft games wont start with Hyperdroid GBX v12 ...
are the games located on the phone or sd card?
...must be located on phone to work.
Or you switch to typhoons rom, there was a fix some time ago, that allows running apps from sd which crashed before...don't know if the fix are also in other roms
using boyppc's gingerbread rom, all my gameloft games work fine (1.6gb worth in total) all running off the memory card. asphalt 6 works fine, some people have complained about splinter cell which also works fine on the rom

The games are installed onto the sd-ext partition but additional softwares required for the games have been automatically downloaded under /sdcard/gameloft/games/...
Should I move this folder somewhere else ???
i can't run some games either
they are just forced to close after the game intro
i used sd-android
how can i fix it?
and any sd-android version recommended?
Using UD 3.3 I Let's Golf 2 gets all glitchy once past intro and UNO goes black and won't even get to intro. I haven't been able to redownload any of the games that I had before to see if new APK files would help because my phone is recognized as a HTC Leo / HD2 on their site. Anybody have any thoughts on how to bypass this? I wish they would use a damn marketplace for their games!
I just got my Xperia Play today and I'm a little puzzled about some of these games. I see that my Nova 2 cannot be moved onto my SD card (or atleast that button is dimmed under "manage apps"), but it requires an almost 400 Mb download to play. If there is only 400 Mb of memory on the phone, how is this possible? And if most Play games require additional downloads but can't be moved onto my SD, does that mean you will only have a few games at a time? Sorry if it was posted elsewhere, I did try to look around but couldn't find them
Use adb to set the install location to sd then everything can go to sd card, but as it is now just the app will be installed on the phone memory then the additional download will be put on the sd card

O I don't have adb yet... do I need to root my phone to use that? I recall it appeared when I put CM7 on my last phone. Thanks for clarifying that, all the games said they would download more stuff, didn't state where it would DL to, so I assumed it would go with the game

You do not need to move anything to download and store alot of games on your Xperia Play.
That would be stupid.
You download the apk, which gets stored on the phone. Its only a few mb. Then you download the game data which gets stored on your sd card.
The above users should of mentioned this before they sent you down a path of using commands to manually move things to the sd card.
I have about 9 large games on my phone at the moment and have around 155mb of free phone memory unused.
Also, the easiest way to move everything to the sd card is with titanium backup. Once you have rooted your phone, select batch move and it will automatically move everything you select to the sd card in one go.
Just as a tip, do not move wallpapers or clocks to your sd card. Your wallpaper and clock settings will get forgotten every time you plug your phone into your PC. (this is because your phone disconnects itself from the sd card so your pc can access it).
I think the biggest one ive seen so far is asphalt which takes up 30mb on the phones internal memory (after downloading the 400+mb to your sd).
But as dsswoosh has said if you root your phone you can use the free version of titanium backup to moves the games to the sd card. Now asphalt takes up less than 500kb rather than 30mb. Same with the other games once moved to the sd.
Games that are unable to be moved to the sd card normally such as nova and ashphalt can be moved once rooted.
Thank you all so much! Very useful, I think I was mainly just confused about where the game data was being downloaded to. With widgets and such having to stay on phone, plus the bloatware and programs that are phone only, 30 meg games still seemed pretty big so I was kind of worrying about space still, but after this thread I'm def going to root my phone. Thanks again!
I've got 21 games installed and a bunch of other apps and still got 240 mb of internal storage!
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Bloatware you can easily remove when rooted. and if you force all the installs to sd throug adb, you can keep up to 300MB internal storge
I have 303 free atm.
Only modern combat you should keep on the phone i think, i had it on sd for a week or 2 and suddenly it stopped working and no possible way to get it to work again only after factory reset.
hi guys,
recently had an issue about my sgs2 i cant access any file on my cell through pc i mean i can see them all in internal memory and xternal memory but the moment i try to copy or move the file my conection gets lost and comes back again in the next second
til last night this was only concerned to my internal memory and i could use my external memory i.e sd card easily to transfer files there and then move those files to internal memory using file manager in cell but now even that is no more accessible
i thought it could b my usb port since i had issues about it in past but the wierd thing is i can copy small files like images and apks to cell but the moment i start copying mp3 or movie[any file above 10mb] it disconects and reconnects again
Another wierd point is if i keep it connected but dont access the phone via pc it stays connected for hours till i access it
i just wanted to know if the problem is with my pc[usb port] my data cable or something got messed up in the phone itself[i havent done anything like flashing or rooting or any other tweaking]
help appreciated
P.S: i am using nokia data cable but have transfered movies mp3 etc etc using the same cable before.

there is no problem with my usb port because i can easily transfer data between my nokia 6303 and pc
Have you got access to a card reader to test the sdcard to make sure it's not faulty?
buddy i cannot acces the internal memory too
ok intratech i tested my sd card i put my new sd card in my old phone and tried to copy and it transfers easily
any other suggestions?
Are you using the stock firmware? I ask because I'm wondering if the permissions have been messed with. Also do you have anything like droidwall installed? Another thing you can try is to uninstall the USB drivers for the device and reinstall them.
yes i am on stock rom din touch anything in the o.s yet non rooted nor do i have any firewall as such n i tried reinstalling the drivers but no use
as i mentioned earlier i can still copy small files like apks and pdf files but the moment i tch mp3 or even try to access their folders it messes up goes off n comes again
do u recomend a factory reset?

My friend asked me to write here about his problem.
He cant make to work Asphalt 6. This game is for free for Xperia Play, so he downloaded it and all the data to SD card and when he wants to play it, it just show "The video is not possible to play" (at least i think it writes this ).
He tried several times to erase all data from SD card, he even restarted phone to manufacture settings or how is it called, and than tried to download it again, but nothing has changed.
I have HTC Desire S and i can play it without any problem. So i took a look into his SD card data. He had every one file with ".dat" end. Even intro.dat. On my device i have intro.mp4. So we tried to change it on his phone to mp4 too, but when he started a game it started to download this intro again.
Could somebody help me to solve this problem?
i actually have the same problem and error message as you do :/
1- Uninstall/remove Asphalt 6 from your phone.
2- Download and install the two Need For Speed games that Electronic Arts gives to the Xperia Play users for free.
3- Profit.
That suggestion doesn't really get around the fact that both people might want to play multiplayer on Asphalt 6.
I have the same error message and have redownloaded 4 times the full 500+ MB file and still not working!
All the other free games are working for me....

I am not interested in NFS.
I have the same problem as well. I looked around on the internet and saw that a lot of people are having the same problem. I wonder if its to do with the version of our xperia plays?
EDIT: Here's the problem http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=35313373389&topic=32461&post=181239
weird as I have Asphalt 6 too on my PLAY (but I bought it, probably region-dependent) but the intro on mine is in MP4 format.. i think all intro videos of GL games are in mp4, so it's weird you have DAT, which in other case is a Video CD format...
I can confirm that free version of Ashpalt dosent work well anymore on the play. I also get "this video cannot be played" error. I went back the the copy i purchased and it works fine again
Good thing that I finished the game while it was free.. It doesn't work any longer.

You didnt try to bring Asphlat 6 to Sd from internal memory by any chance, did you?
I am asking because you mentioned clearing the SD.
No i didnt.
