Hi,
I have been my Yahoo Mail since pocketpc days. I added Yahoo Mail in the Mail tab and set to auto receive every 30mins to check mail. However, ever since I start using HD2, I have been experiencing this error of receiving all the mails in my Yahoo account. Example, I have set to receive mails up to 3 days old, however, my device will download all the mails in my Yahoo account to the very first mail that I have since years ago. As a results, thousand of old mail bombed my phone and it resulted in a laggy and almost hanging device. Anyone here experience this problem b4 ? How do I go about solving this ? Thanks
Added : This problem does not happen everytime. It happens randomly...
you need to go to settings in your inbox and change options from download all to what you want...3 days....1 week ....1 month! hope that helps
yahoo sucks with windows mobile why not switch to a email provider with active sync capabilities like gmail or hotmail. that way it shows mail instantly. but i think it gets better battery life vs checking every 30 mins

hi,
thanks for ur prompt reply. I have set to 3 days. However, randomly it will receive all mails in the account. I have no idea why. As I am posting now, my phone has received all my mails again. It was set as 3 days. But I have mails dated years ago .. this is so irritating. Anyone else knows why ?
I'm experiancing the same problem, I tried even to set up the Yahoo mail manuely, but the phone will still upload randomly all email in my account, thats almost 4000 emails.
I noticed that it happens only when an alarm reminder is on snooze.
Same problem but even worse...
Yahoo Mails inability to work with the HD2 will drain my battery over night bc active synch will be running all night long trying to connect and disconnect to yahoo mail. Ive abandoned yahoo mail all together. I dont know enough to figure out who is to blame here, WinMo or Yahoo but the bottom line is Yahoo mail doesnt work properly on the HD2 results in lag, full inbox downloading, freezing, eats up all the resources heats the phone up to max and kills the phone, its just not worth using yahoo anymore
The thing about changing the update frequency has nothing to do with how many emails it downloads or its inability to set up a smooth connection to the yahoo server. It just buggy and simply doesnt work with any sort of reliability in fact its worse than unreliable its actually a liability bc I have to spend an hour every few days deleting the email account just to restore functionality to my phone. Takes like 20 minutes literally for WinMo to delete an account. Totally lags the phone takes forever...
Running stock Nexus S with background data and auto-sync both checked in settings. I'm running the mail app not the gmail app and have 3 accounts setup on IMAP with 15 min sync. Weather/news widget also does not sync. I have it set to every 6 hours and when I just checked it said last update 18hr ago??
1. It does not sync in 15
2. When I manually sync each account it is way slow
3. Weather/news sync also slow
I think the phone has some confusion running wifi + 3G
Any suggestions?? Others with similar issues? I'm used to instant sync on IMAP on 2G!
not a single reply??
I don't use the mail app (Gmail app) but I've heard that not using push when using IMAP leads to the phone failing to sync and draining the battery really fast eventually. It happens when it tries to sync during one of the scheduled syncs and there's no service at the time or something, and then it goes fubar. Not sure if they've fixed this, but it was doing it on my friend's Nexus One until I changed it to push.
Anyway, is your battery noticeably bad for some strange reason? =)
good afternoon,
does anybody allready has an app for configurating the peak hours for receiving mail?? i got a pop3 account, a hotmail account, an exchange account and gmail account, but i can only set the interval at 1hr max, and that for 24hrs. offcourse i can manually disable the synchronisation, but i rather had a tool like on my win mob 6.5 where i can set peak hrs and off hrs where i can get the mail manually.
Sounds like a job for Tasker?
I use Touchdown
Hi,
I'm using the stock EMAIL app that comes on the phone (not sure if this is the stock Jelly bean app or a Samsung version). I'm using it because it works with my work's Exchange email/calendar nicely. I also have a Gmail account and my personal Email (my own website with email support) which is IMAP. The Exchange and Gmail seem to work fine. I have Exchange setup for push and I'll sometime get emails even before my desktop/Outlook see them. I don't use Gmail that much (only a couple emails a week) so I set it up to sync every 4 hours and that seems fine.
My personal IMAP account I get probably 30 email a day. I set up the program to sync every 10 minutes. It seems to just stop syncing for some reason I cant figure out. For example today, I received several emails overnight and a couple in the morning and the phone synced them fine. When I got to work and checked ~11am I had 5 messages waiting (using Thunderbird on my desktop) and when I checked the phone it didn't have them. If I go to the Inbox it says last sync was at 8:49am. The program will then do a sync and presto, all 5 messages popped up. But now all day the phone will not sync unless I go check my inbox which appears to force a sync.
So I know the information (account, password,..) are OK since it manually syncs no problem. I didn't try today but in the past if I change the sync interval to something else (5 or 15 minutes) it seems to sync for a while and then stop again. I tried deleting the account and then re-created it and that seemed to work for a while.
I have "sync while roaming set" and I do not set up a peak sync schedule so it should always be the same.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Hi,
I'm pretty sure the stock email app is syncing through push, altough it's set to check mails only every hour. Mails are received on my phone even before they show up in Outlook.
Is it just imagination? BBS shows more alarms for the email app than needed for syncing my 3 accounts once an hour. I've noticed this behaviour since many wipes, using different gapps.
