Switching Themes - Desire Themes and Apps

Hey guy's planning on starting to use some theme's but wondering if I flash the theme is there anyway of turning it off and going back to stock or trying another or does it require a nandroid restore everytime??

to revert back to standard for whatever rom you are using (without nandroid restore), you will need to pull the framework-res.apk from the original Rom.zip (along with any other files in your theme.zip).
you can either flash them back as an update in recovery or ADB push them back to the phone.

Or reflash the rom without a wipe, don't use this method if you have made changes to /system other than the theme since those will also be lost.

[Q] Stock Rom with the S off

I was wondering if theres a stock rom zip file out there. I dont wanna take the s off or do a nano restore. That would work and still get OTa's.
There is a safe nandroid restore of a clean stock install in the dev section. It will not turn S on. Go to the dev section, it is in a sticky called "resource bible". The link is called "stock nandroid restore". Download the file from the links op and use it to perform a nandroid restore. You will then have a blank slate with S on.

The restore I referred to will not break root and will allow you to flash roms. They're is a zip restore in the same section but that one does revert your bootloader so it essentially breaks root. The nand restore won't break root. The reason you were stuck at the loading screen is probably due to the version of clockwork recovery you have installed. You either need version 2.0.5.2 or the newest version 3.0.0.6 for the nandroid to work. Clockwork recovery v3.0.0.6 will let you flash between froyo and gingerbread roms so I suggest using that one. I'll bet you're on v3.0.0.2 or 3.0.0.5. Those versions won't boot froyo roms or nand restores.

Remove manually ClockWorkMod - CWM (2nd-init)

It's there a way to remove manually ClockWorkMod (2nd-init) from stock rom?
Besides, erase bootmenu folder, what more i have to do?
if you want to stay on stok Rom, reset the mobile data
of course you can back up apps first
Well, my intention it's a little more complicated... I want to create a custom sbf following instructions from Vaserbanix thread in order to have a 2.2.2 sbf from my original system. In some pages, i get an original sbf from my carrier but it's a 2.2.1 version... My phone came with a 2.2.2 version, so i made a nandroid backup, then i extracted system but i realized that my system it's already rooted and with bootmenu included. So, i want to make it more "stock"

Phone BootLoop

Hey everyone,
So I'm on 4.2.2 PA.
I decided to install Hells-core kernel, I was using Matr1x before.
So I do some heavy undervolting.
I think 1500 was around1000 and 192 was around 700.
So it works for a few hours, even flawlessly. Then my phone reboots a few times; The first few times it actually boots but once a few seconds in it crashes again (I noticed this happened when I used the notification drawer). After a few times I got into a bootloop. I already tried reflashing kernel and ROm (An older version than the phone had, but still 4.2.2). So now I was wondering, what do I do? How do I get a functioning pghone again, and also very important. How do I not lose ANY data or appdata? Is there any way to pull files to my computer from recovery?
While I'm at it is it a good idea to try and upgrade to 4.3?
Thanks!
I would to try to flash only boot and system from the rom before the under volt and see if that fixes it.
Or...
If you can get to custom recovery do a adb shell and look around to see if your data is still there. If so do a nandroid backup of the phone. Then copy the backup and the files on sdcard with adb pull.
Once you have those safely on your computer you can wipe and side load anything you like. After you have stable phone copy back sdcard files and use an app like appextractor to copy your apps+data out of the backup.
Hope this helps.

What exactly do you mean by that first line?
Also how would I go on and install a new ROM then, and make it work again???
Also I want to restore everything,
I'm talking pictures, videos.
I basically want to be able to put all of that to my computer from custom recovery (which I can acces). But I don't know how to do that.
I also want all appdata to be backed up to my computer before doing a factory reset!
Any help?
Flash the Matr1x kernel (boot.img) and system.img from PA you had before your under volt. You will have to unpack the img files from the zip file(s) you have to your computer. Then start your phone in fastboot and use "fastboot flash" from the android-sdk to flash the boot and system img files over to the phone.
None of this should hurt your userdata or sdcard. Of course do a backup before you start.

CWM not restoring backup.

Hy,
I have two i9505, I read a lot and installed CWM using Heimdall, I flashed SuperSU to gain root, and made a backup. It labeled the backup with an outdated 1970 name...
I took the SD card out to copy the SD backup, but could find it even when searching for hidden folder.
I put back the SD card in my device, and booted to CWM, the backup was available for a restore process. So before trying any flash I tried out a restore process, but ended up with a stuck in boot. Boot to CWM and bootloader being still available, I managed to flash a workable ROM, but I can't restore to my initial ROM.
Now, I'd like to be able to restore my device to it's initial ROM.
I believe that somehow, the backup I made is corrupted.
As I have another identical i9505 I haven't tempered with yet, I guess I could install CWM (or other custom recovery) to make a backup of the ROM, extract the backup of the ROM from the SD and use it to 'clone' my second device ROM to this one.
But I don't wan't to make any mistake here, so I'd apreciate some help, first to understand where CWM put the backup .tar.
Another solution is to get some stock ROM I can flash. As anyway I don't have any warranty on the device I don't care to restore to exact initial state, I just want to be able to get back to some stock ROM.
sammobile.com/firmwares is the place to go if you want a stock ROM. Download whichever ROM you want, then use Heimdall to flash it, and you should then be returned to stock. For best results, the ROM you download should have no carrier branding, but any of them should work.
I though I would have to do something like that from reading the unroot guide. Also, as I use Heimdall to flash (I have a linuxBox), I will use this guide in french as a guideline.
I noticed that the command line they recommend don't flash sbl1. I don't know if it is required.
Thank you anyway for confirming that.

Procedure to go back to MIUI from CM13

Hi. I'm using the 18/Redmi2Prime and I was thinking of reverting back to MIUI and I'm on CM13. I'm kind of confused with all the threads here because it's been a while since I was active here in the forums. Can't I just flash the MIUI ROM over CM13 using TWRP 2.8.7 with a clean install?
I wanted a rooted lollipop miui hence I am reluctant of choosing this. And I donno which ROM to choose either. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Grab a copy of the stock recovery from here, and follow the instructions to install it onto your device. Basically, download the file, extract the .img file from it, and install the .img file using TWRP. Then boot to recovery.
Then, download a copy of the official MIUI ROM (beta, release or otherwise), from here, rename it as update.zip, copy paste it to your SD card (internal/external), and from the stock recovery, wipe all existing data (cache and user data - SD card can stay). Install the update.zip from the recovery from the options shown.
Done.
Additional notes -
1. If you are plan to go back to a custom ROM, then install a pre-lollipop based MIUI ROM, or backup your EFS, Modem, Boot partitions prior to wiping the existing recovery - this will save you a lot of trouble, and perhaps opening another thread.
2. It is preferable to download the MIUI ROM and rename it as update.zip before you restore to stock recovery, should anything go wrong down the lane. (That is, without a ROM installed, and the computer just not willing to recognize your device, you might end up in a small soup - you cannot access the files on the phone using the stock recovery easily.)
3. If anything goes wrong, check for instructions on how to install the MIUI ROM using fastboot.
Hey thanks for the quick reply. Will do the mentioned and will get back to you if need be. Thanks again!
But wait. It isn't prerooted right?
