JK6: No OCLF due to \system\lib full - Vibrant General

Hi - I've upgraded to stock Froyo (re-rooted afterward, no worries) and couldn't re-run OCLF. It told me that it couldn't install 'EXT2 Tools' as \system\lib is full. So I downloaded root explorer as I thought I had to re-mount the directory. I opened that, went to the right folder and changed the little button to 'rw'..... no difference.
What am I missing??
Thanks.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated - I also mounted as r/w with SGS Tools with no impact. I don't know if that's the issue stopping me from using One Click Lag Fix, but maybe.

I have no problems running OCLF and I'm running stock froyo rom. Try again!

Awesome, thanks guys. Looks like I have a little project for the w/e but I'm confident with these tips I will sort it.
Thank f%%% for this forum.
Oh, the best tip was ' try again'. Super. I guess they are everywhere.

Cannot undo or re apply Lag fix

Last week I applied the ryanza one click lag fix and it worked well until I installed the update....my phone started to slow down again so I decided to re apply it...but now it won't let me remove the lagfix...but it says there is no lagfix installed...can anyone help me figure this out?
Simply go the the "available" section in the OCLF program and you should see the option to undo the lag fix for the version you have. For some reason, the main screen only shown the option to undo the newest version of the lagfix, which indicate that undo is not available if you have an older version of the lag fix.
The undo option is unavailable...so I can't undo it
Click restore boot animation then give it a try
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Most likely your battery level is to low. If you click on the undo option it will tell you if your batterly level is to low. Needs over 40% I believe.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
The problem is with the playlogo1 file after the factory reset . Click Restore Boot Animation then uninstall lagfix and reinstall lagfix .
Same Here.
Installed JI5 and rooted with OCLF
LagFix V2.1+ and Undo are both red and unavailable.
Same for V1+
Restore boot animation & un/reinstall OCLF did not change it.
If I try to click OneClickLagFix V2.1+ is says not enough free space in /data and to free up space.
But I have plenty of free space on phone and SD
These are the step that worked for me . If this doesn't work I would try to contact the dev.
1. Click restore boot animation
2. Reboot
3. Undo lagfix (not uninstall oclf)
4. Reboot
5. Install lagfix
I dont know if the reboots are necessary but its what worked for me.

As fearless said: The undo option is unavailable...so I can't undo it
Same for me. Can't undo since the undo option is red and unavailable.
But also cant run the lagfix because that option is also red and unavailable.
so is there a Senior Member who can shed any light on this issue?
Are you sure that the lagfix is still there? When you mean "update," what kind of update did you do?
Get Quadrant Benchmark from the market and run it. What is your score? Is it averaging around ~800 or ~2000+?
Check your SD card for apps. What is the size?
.. This is why RyanZA's OCLF isn't good, it possibly corrupts data and I'm not a fan of one click because it was very easy to do in the first place and I would rather feel more confident in manually doing it.
Ok....there was an update to the OCLF in the market and i downloaded and installed it.....the only major thing i've done to it after that is flashed to I9000 boot animation....heres a list of everything thats listed as UNAVAILABLE in the main screen:
Root Device 2.1
Install EXT2 Tools
OneClickLagFix V2.1+
Undo OneCLickLagFix V2+
Install Font
Repair/Clean LagFix
OneClickLagFix V1+
Undo OneClickLagFix V1+
If i try to re-apply the LagFix it tell me theres not enough space in /data...but if i try to undo it says it does not appear to be one installed(playlogos1 greater than 5kb)....i just want my vibrant to be fast....can u help me?
Answer the questions I listed above. I don't use OCLF and I don't like One-Clicks unless its a vital step like rooting but rooting for the Vibrant is just so simple its not worth one clicking.
Sorry...the Quadrant Benchmark is 890
My SD card has 12.53 GB free

Looks like your lagfix isn't there. When I meant sd card I meant to the bottom: Application Storage. With RyanZA if its applied, it should be <800 MB; otherwise it will be 1.5GB+ (results may vary based on the amount of apps you have installed)
With RyanZA fully working, it should be giving you benchmarks of 2000+ but these benchmarks don't actually reflect on the phone's performance and doesn't mean anything. The only known lagfix that works (in my own opinion) is VooDoo. Easily able to remove as well.
What kind of ROM are you running? I would go into Clockwork Recovery and attempt a nandroid backup, if the lagfix is there then the backup will take forever. If not, it should be completed within 2-4 minutes whereas if lagfix is present, nandroid will back up that as well.

Voodoo lagfix, it goes VERY well with the OC/UV kernel for improved battery life. What is your application storage size as of right now? I would believe that the lagfix is not present anymore. OCLF should be giving you 2000+ benchmark results if its properly working. Getting a score of ~800 is no-lagfix and is the score for stock Vibrant without any of those tweaks.

Hmph, do you have a lot of applications installed? The lagfix could possibly be present but not properly working. What I would personally do is
A) Backup your applications using Titanium Backup
B) Flash a new ROM (Check Dev section and find something that you'd like)
C) Check application storage; everything should be good
--- if not then, Odin back to stock and re-partition using Odin (search on XDA for the tools) then flash ROM, etc.
(or vice versa)
I'm off to get some sleep.. I hope this helps.
What the 'OCLF' does is create a virtual ext2 partition using your application storage so it significantly lowers the amount of space in your application storage. Voodoo does the same but it is not as significant + it is in a ext4 format and blah blah blah.. its basically more safe and doesnt corrupt data.

Stock 2.2 and corp email notifications question..

I can only get my vibrant to vibrate on corporate emails, with the stock 2.2 update from mini kies. In 2.1, it vibrated and had a Ringtone. But now all it will do is vibrate. I went through the setting removed vibrate, and it doesn't do anything with new emails. The new emails appear in the notification bar, but no sounds. I even went into the setting and picked a Ringtone.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem. I did a factory reset, formated both phones memory and sd card. I wiped my phone to stock JFD, before doing the udpate.
Any help would be much appericated.
Thank you.
I've having the same issues (tried KA5, KA6, KA7). On a different note, when I first tried KA5 from JI6, my data speeds were fabulous (got about 4Mbps dl and about 1.7 ul)and then since I moved to KA6 (and then to KA7 and back to KA5), my data reception has been terrible, often times switching between EDGE and 3G and never got HSPA. Pretty frustrating that I had it all good on KA5 (except the audible notification on my exchange email) and things are bad as of now.
~bump~
I see someone else is having this problem, is this something we did in the flashing back and forth or is this a problem with stock 2.2 KA6?
Any help would be much appericated.
Thank you,

Tried the Nero v3 email.apk and the GB email.apk - result for me was the same - zero sound notification. What's more is one email the vibrate is really short and soft, like the soft keys vibe is now, and the next one it goes for 10-15 seconds.
I have done a complete factory data reset in CWM since I have that installed with the stock+voodoo ka6 kernel setup.
I guess at the end of the day what pisses me off is the complete inconsistencies show across the Vibrants - one fix works, next one don't from phone to phone.

It took me about three times to get it to work correctly, because I was pissed off too. I slowed down and followed the instructions to the T and it work fine after that. Not say that you aren't following them, but with me I was allowing my pissed offness to rush the process to quickly.
I switched to Bionix-V 1.2, did the samething to fix it and it works again.
EDIT: also might want to try re downloading the email.apk.
I hope you can get it to work, because I am sure your email is as important as mine. Not being able to get notified of emails, can cause a crap load of problems.

Thanks for thr reply.
How is the bionix v working for you? I may just do that and then try again on the email apks. I downloaded via firefox and chrome, both apks twice.
But it was late, so may try again. Otherwise I fixed all the other issues (mms errors, gps, did the voodoo etc) and it has been running pretty good.
Being the Sr. Web Developer at a top ten sports organization, you got it, it is critical to get the notifications all the time.
EDIT - I should also point out, that when I went to copy the email.apk through root explorer into system/app I only had about 700kb free, not enough room for a 1.39mb apk, and that was after deleting the original email.apk. I removed a few other apks I knew I didn't need/want.

Downloaded the Email.apk from This post, did the following:
Copied Email.apk to SDCard
Menu-Settings-applications-manage-email-clear data/cache
root explorer, mount r/w, system/app, deleted email.apk
rebooted
after reboot, copied email.apk from SDCard (the only .apk on the sd card) and pasted in /system/app
long pressed, changed permissions to rw-r--r--
rebooted
setup email
same thing - highly variant vibration speed/lengths, zero tone
Copied to SD Card
Next I seen in the same thread, a CWM version of the Nero v3. Reboot to CWM Recovery, installed zip from SD card, same thing. Though it ocurred to me that didn't clear the data/cache nor remove the existing Nero apk prior to flashing.
So I just did that - removed Nero v3 email.apk, cleared cache/data. rebooted, opened CWM, reboot recovery, install zip from sd, rebooted, let it all load. Sent an email - zero sound. Again.
I can see in root explorer the file sizes have been different, so I know they are going in there (the nero is different size than original, as is the GB, etc).
I am at a complete loss at this point. 3 or 4 Email.apks, nothing is fixing it and it's to the point i am probably just going to throw a diff rom on it and move on, as notification is one of the key things I need.

Don't forget to change the permission on the Email.apk
Should look like this:
[*]long pressed, changed permissions to rw-r--r--
That might be a problem, just reading the steps you put after "So I just did that-", I noticed you didn't put that you changed the apks permissons.
I did the above setups and it works for me, but it did take me three times to get it right though.

Yeah, did that, probably forgot to type it in - coming from a Linux enviro, full aware of perms on files/dirs. In fact I ended up doing the nero and GB email.apk 3 times each, all to no avail. Ended up flashing Bionix-V 1.2.1, still no notification, pushed the nero email apk - and viola, working like a charm and as a bonus, Bionix is FAST n smooth.
What do you guys think compared with K9 email? i haven't had the best of luck with any of the email apps since the G1

Daily Briefing lost after upgrading from Bionix-V 1.2.1 to 1.3.1

I currently have Bionix-V 1.2.1 + Overstock 1.4 on my phone. When I use the camera shooting a picture, I don't get the picture on screen as it used to, and sometimes the phone either freezes or automatically reboots . Does this occur to anyone? What could be the source of the problem, the ROM or the kernel?
Another question is that, if I upgrade my ROM from Bionix-V 1.2.1 to 1.3.1, would I be able to retrieve the login information such as passwords for accounts such as Gmail (presumably from the Titanium backup)?
Thanks in advance.
I recommend flashing the new Bionix. I never have a problem with my camera. In the camera setting go under review and check off and put it onto on. That will give you a review of each pic you take. As long as you download it right and flash it right, don’t disable voodoo, there shouldn't be any problems. As far as TB only restore apps plus data. Don't restore system apps cause it will mess with your system. It will not save your passwords but as soon as you flash it just go into accounts and sync and put your info in and you should be good to go. If you want a theme I highly recommend Scarlet Leftovers with Flip animations. It makes your Vibrant look badass.

I think it is the overstock kernel. I had problems with the camera when Bionix v 1.3.1 was first released because Sombionix included the overstock kernel with it. He has since changed it back to KB1, which I reflashed and have had no problems at all. Just my thoughts. Good luck.
Daily Briefing lost!
I have tried upgrading to both Gingerbread and TouchWiz editions of Bionix-V 1.3.1, but I can't find Daily Briefing any more!
1) Is it because I forgot to back up my previous launcher?
2) Does Daily Briefing only work with TouchWiz? Or it also works with others like Launcher Pro?
3) Where can I retrieve Daily Briefing?

I have the same problem, I am only using the Bionix-V 1.3.1, no overstock. I just checked their website and downloaded the Samsung Widgets that you have to download if you want to have the widgets. You also must use the touchwiz version.
But I looked into the zip file and I didn't see the Daily briefing, no wonder why we don't have it. It kinda sucks I think that and program monitor were the only useful widgets by Samsung.
Edit: I found out that the app is called infoalarm.apk and I tried to install one version but it didn't install.
If you are not on the touchwiz version you can download the touchwiz launcher from sgs tools then pull any of the Samsung apps from an older rom and place them in the system/app folder on your phone using root explorer.

Thanks for the suggestion! I followed your instruction, installed TouchWiz Launcher, put InfoAlarm.apk and InfoAlarm.odex under /system/app/, then went in the directory with Root Explore and tried to install it, but the installation still failed. Did I do something wrong?
Being that they are system apps you just use root explorer to move them to the system/app folder. You do not need to install them. Just make sure you have it set to read write. Once they have been moved to the system/app folder just reboot and the widgets should work. Also make sure you pulled the apps from a deodex rom.

Thanks again for the help! I have the files like this, but it still doesn't work:
-rw-rw-rw- shell shell 6956979 2010-10-25 12:09 InfoAlarm.apk
-rw-rw-rw- shell shell 439256 2010-10-25 12:09 InfoAlarm.odex
I tried to change them to
-rw-r--r-- root root
but could not do it because of a complaint: Unable to chmod InfoAlarm.apk: Read-only file system
You need to use a deodex not the odex apk file. You can download it here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A5TSE252
Also try using Root Explorer or su file manager from the market. They may cost a couple of bucks but are very handy apps to have.

You need to use a deodex not the odex apk file. You can download it here:

Also try using Root Explorer or su file manager from the market. They may cost a couple of bucks but are very handy apps to have.

After struggling in pushing the file to /system/app/ with adb for quite a while, finally I made it work! I really love Daily Briefing, and I'm so happy to see it back! It seems working under Launcher Pro too. HUGE thanks to you, dude! Really appreciate your kindness...
Just have had my first smartphone for a month now, and have learned/achieved the following: rooted, flashing ROMs and kernels, unlocked, etc. Not bad, I guess.
Glad you got it to work and glad you are enjoying the Vibrant... I love this phone and I am still learning new stuff every day. lol

[ROM][2.1] Eclair Strikes Back v2 [2011.06.23]

Since there's been some interest in comparing the 2.2 ROMs with the 2.1, here are some stock eclair nandroid images based on the Cincinnati Bell 2.1 ROM that can be used in OpenRecovery without flashing SBFs. You can use these to switch between 2.1 and other 2.2 ROMs without bothering with RSD Lite/sbf_flash.
Of course gallery key, camera and FM radio work well on these. Although, I've been having market problems (paid apps fail to download). Hopefully that will resolve itself if/when market decides to self-update... In the interim, I recommend using something like Titanium Backup to migrate your paid apps.
Eclair Strikes Back v2 (2011.06.23)
This is a tweaked version of CBW_eclair_STR_U2_04_1E_1.zip with some tricks we've been using in 2.2 (expanded apns-conf.xml, JIT from FrozenEclair, memhack to move dalvik-cache to /cache, egl.cfg hack to disable software rendering).
eclair-strikes-back-v2-beta.zip (the beta is now final )
Changes since v1:
ext-partition support compatible with the stock221-derived ROMs*
Automatic swap support for fjfalcon's fastboot kernel
Automatic support for link2sd (either FAT extra partition or stock221's /sd-ext/link2sd method)
Additional cpu governors (conservative, interactive)
Market upgraded to 2.2.7
*dalvik-cache on /sd-ext is not supported by default on this ROM.
Previous release: Eclair Strikes Back v1
eclair-strikes-back.zip
2011-06-16 Update to fix market on ESB v1 (upgrades market to 2.2.7)
Stock 2.1 (Cincinnati Bell)
This is a rooted version of Cincinnati Bell's STR_U2_04.1E.1 with OpenRecovery support pre-installed.
CBW_eclair_STR_U2_04_1E_1.zip
Hey Mioze do you have the app2ext script that is in the Bluesteel rom? Might try your eclair nands with it and see what i get.
I've finally successfully downloaded and installed a paid app from the market now on Eclair Strikes Back. Market is still old one though... not sure why it's taking so long to update to new one. When I did a factory reset on stock 2.1 soon after I bought the phone the market updated itself pretty quickly IIRC.
Still, this feels so smooth and fast....
EDIT:
And don't seem to be having downloading issues with any apps, be it paid or free anymore. Maybe you'll have to manually replace the market.apk with the new one though, since I'm not sure it's ever going to self-update.

And what about moving applications to the sd? available or will be applied app2sd?. Open recovery will still work? I have some applications that are supported only from 2.2, they can no longer be installed .... of course there will have to sacrifice something.
I at the continuing problems of delay in opening and closing apps, malfunction of the camera, out of trouble and delay an application to load the launcher and would return to around 2.1, but I also like the space for application installation and open recovery.
PS: It's easy to return to 2.1?
download on process
kinda miss the haptic feedback hahaha..
thx a lot Mioze..
I'm pretty sure you can only move apps to SD for 2.2... since I never used it (I never have so many apps installed at once that it's neccesary) I don't mind losing that functionality.
There are a few apps from 2.2 that I like, most notably the new gmail and youtube apps, but those are minor sacrifices for me really.
Open recovery is installed in both those links. I find the camera works much better on 2.1, seems much faster in taking and processing pictures.
In any case, it is indeed very easy to return to 2.1 and then return back to a 2.2 ROM if you don't like it. You take one of those links (I'm using eclair strikes back) and flash it through nandroid just as you would any other ROM that we have here. And you can flash back the same way if you don't like it.
Be advised, there are currently some issues around the android market for some reason (just see the posts above)... I'm thinking we might have to replace the market apk.
Anyways, I personally am loving it.
EDIT:
Oh, you might have to setup the APN's as well.

I intend to make an updated eclair-strikes-back to add app2ext support and additional governors but I probably won't have time until later in the week. I view link2sd as the eclair equivalent of froyo's native app2sd, though. Link2sd may already work with fat as the second partition, but I haven't tested it yet because of the market problem. The market problem is #1 on my list when I get time.
And yes, these 2.1 ROMs will keep OpenRecovery intact and you can just flash between 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs the same way you would switch between 2.2 ROMs.
Thanks for the work Mioze7Ae! Let's try it, you know, always gives a bit of fear making a mistake, but gradually removes the fear. I do not know that flashing. It's like applying an Update? I apply a copy nandroid?

I know how you feel. I always used to have fear/apprehension when flashing a ROM. I've done it enough times now that it's all gone by now though.
Anyways:
Download the ROM. Unzip it. Copy and paste the folder (should contain 4 things in it boot.img etc...) into your SD card under OpenRecovery/Nandroid/ (if you've gone to a 2.2 ROM you should see that ROM in the same place where you're putting this). Anyways, launch open recovery and do recovery boot or hold volume up while pressing power on (if your phone is off). If you get an image and nothing happens, you may have to go into open recovery and select install recovery system before doing this - if you have a bunch of weird pictures in your gallery including Darth Maul then you don't have to worry about this. Then navigate - using the volume keys to move up and down and the camera button to select - to Nandroid, select restore, select Eclair strikes back, select restore all. Once that's done, make sure to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe/clear dalvik cache and cache. Then reboot and it should work. (First reboots are long).
You may have to setup your APN's also.
Excellent. Thanks, sounds simple ... downloading ..... then tell how it worked.

They actually go in nandroid/openrecovery/, it's the updates.zip that go in OpenRecovery/updates/ so it's easy to remember that wrong. I'm always adb push'ing to them so I only noticed the mistake because I've got the muscle memory from typing them all the time. Gotta love the consistency
hey mioze7ae, using it right now btw, is it possible to change the read_ahead settings to 2048 instead of 128? i can manually replace the file but once reboot, it changes back.
thanks!
Manual market update
I replaced /system/app/Vending.apk with the 2.2.7 com.android.vending.apk found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875067
After doing this and rebuilding dalvik-cache I have the new market and I am able to install paid apps! I'll make an update for it tomorrow, I have to crash.
Two things you can get from market before you flash. APN backup/ restore and SD speed Increase. You can backup your APNs and then once you get to the eclairs, restore them. SD Speed Increase will kick up your SD cache to 2048, instead of 128. Both are free.

Yes. But if you have to use open recovery for whatever reason, you'll need them. You can either click install recovery as needed (which creates the pics) and delete them after, or the best thing to do is get an app that just hides the pics from gallery - so they are there when you need them, but don't interfere. I saw an app "Gallery Excluder" or something floating around in the XDA Android Apps section - that would work. Or a gallery like QuickPic let's you hide things as well.
EDIT:
Nevermind, Gallery Excluder hides folders only. There are other apps though, I believe.
Just an update on progress with ESB
I've done some testing and Link2SD already works with the released eclair-strikes-back but currently only when using FAT for the second partition.
To get ext support in, I'm trying to get the darktremor a2sd scripts to work. They look high quality and robust and should handle swap gracefully when booting the custom kernel as well (current status--some rare hung boots with a flaky SD card when using the latest beta scripts, will try the stable release next). There's also a GUI in the market for managing the SD card (currently only Froyo+, I'm inquiring whether the developer can add eclair support).

I am hoping that the ext will come through. If I am using the sd-ext/app folder on the Steelblue ROM, can I leave all my apps in there and flash your eclair with ext support (when ready) or will I have to use Titanium-migrate? I would think that it really wouldn't matter for most of the apps, except FroYo specific ones like Flash 10.3 but not sure.
p.s. Are you going to call your next version "Return of the Eclair"?
MD5 Check failed. Does this have something to do with the fact that I bought my phone in the middle east?

[Q] Rooted CM7, no market Missing Apk(s)

Hi.
My nook color was on 1.4 (latest bn update), I dual boot it with cm7 following this set of instructions - youtube.com/watch?v=OxDEZ1Fc6iE
when started, the android guy didn't appear and it didn't ask to log in to my google account. in the menu, there's no market.
went to settings - manage applications - there's no google service framework nor market.
I then rooted it instead with cm7 again following - youtube.com/watch?v=lmmmm8cBpe0
same thing, no google service framework, no market.
I've dual booted, rooted, unrooted to 1.0, rooted, over and over again but no luck. I doubt there's something wrong with the files, is it not reading/installing it properly? I downloaded the files through the right links multiple times.
since then, I tried all sorts of ways to try to download the apps but nothing works as well. I also tried installing the files individually (google service framework, onetimeinitializer, setupwizard, talk, vending) but it keeps saying "Application not installed."
Once I did manage to download market, but when I open it, it just gets out and crashes.
Is there another way to root it with a sure way of having market on it? or what am I doing wrong?
Please help. ): I'm not an expert with all these things so if you could explain it in simple terms.
So are you running from an SD card? Did you download gapps.zip and put it on the boot partition?
Sent from space
yes, I rooted from an sdcard. I followed the exact instructions on the video - (youtube.com/watch?v=lmmmm8cBpe0) Is something missing? Am I suppose to partition the sd? By my understanding, partition is something like splitting the memory on the sd? is it?
Sorry, I'm a real beginner on this.
Well the video you followed on Failtube has you installing to your internal memory. Did you flash the google apps zip while in clockwork?

Okay, I managed to install CM7 and market! I followed eyeballer's guide at forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227&fb_source=message through Koopakid08's link on his/her signature.
There was market on it and it opens. but doesn't start dowloads. I did the usual of delete the caches, reboot and now, it downloads fine.
I then overclocked it with www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mvwmx9qSZY guidance. not much of a guide but i managed to find the files and installed. but it overclocked to 1.1ghz, not 1.3. I don't really mind, but just wondering what I did wrong.. I'm thinking of trying it again but using the latest phiremod 7.1. I used the old 6.1 yesterday instead because I wasn't very sure.
So, now my question would be do I have to revert it back to cm7 then overclock it again? or can I just do it over what I've already done? or must I start from scratch, unroot, root to cm7 then overclock?

if I were to do it through recovery, I need to burn the clockwork on the sd, put the files in, and just install zip? or do i need to format system and data first?

Go to download a rom to choose the rom you want.
You should install clockwork to your internal memory using rom manager and then you won't have to fool around with SD cards. If you want to update manualy through recovery then you need to wipe dalvik cache and then use the install a zip option. To boot into recovery hold volume up on boot.

I went - Rom manager - Download ROM - Error occured while processing the ROM list/Error occured while Developing Download list
How do I continue? ):
If I do update it manually through recovery, I need to install the phiremod v7.1, do I need to install gapps_phiremod_7.1 as well? the instructions are gone since phiredrop deleted his website. I can't find any other instructions for updating from 6.1 to 7.1
I still can't sign into my google account, keeps saying my password is incorrect. Any way to fix this?
"install clockwork to your internal memory using rom manager and then you won't have to fool around with SD cards."
so thats how it works. hahaha, that'll be great and less of a hassle for me. I've been repeating the burn clockwork, install, flash all sorts of roms too many times.

1. Try pressing menu- clear download cache and see if that changes anything.
2. Yes you should flash gapps again seeing how you are having problems with your google account.
3. I've never used phiremod so I am not sure if that is a problem. I would suggest that you go with just virgin CM7.1 but I'm sure phiremod will be fine too.

Okay, after all the trial and errors, my nook color is finally up and running awesomely on cm7,phiremod 7.1 at 1.2ghz.
Went to rom manager - download rom - phiremod - v7.1 - reboot after that, I had to do gapps again because some files like market wasn't in the menu, but on the homepage. rom manager - download rom - phiremod - gapps - reboot.
so everything is working well so far.
thanks to all the help I received, especially koopakid08!
If you want to easily overclock your nook to the Max, along with adjusting voltage to handle it and adjusting speaker gain and other stuff, look up Nook Tweaks (icon is a nook outline with gears inside). The process is very simple, just make sure you install it to the device not SD (I made that mistake), because otherwise it won't set the CPU speed and voltage settings on boot (even with the boxes checked). I am able to get my nook running smoothly at 1300MHz, but the option goes up to 1600. So wherever your nook's Max is can be found with this app. No need to readjust your kernel, just install the app and go. If you want to make sure that it is working on boot, download autostarts, which shows what starts during boot.

True but you will not gain any performance by going over 1.2, only worse battery life and the chance of overheating.
Sent from space
Well I certainly don't think I know any better than anyone else, its just that I recorded a pretty decent increase from 1.2 to 1.3 when I ran a benchmark using Quadrant Standard. That's the only basis I currently have, but I figured since Quadrant Standard got good reviews that it was creditable... do you know of a better benchmark?

Oh, sounds great but I think I'll keep it at 1.3 rather than 1.6, I don't want it to overheat it or something. I've already downloaded the app and tried to change it to 1.3, but what is the CPU stepping 1,2,3,4,5? I changed it to 800, 900, 1000, 1200 and 1300. Is that okay?
