hi, i've just discovered darkstones super ram build, which will be loaded from sd to ram at start. i read about 12 sites of his thread, but no one was asking after battery drain on that build. well, here's my question:
will be battery drain less then on builds operating from sd card? please post some experience with that build
thx in advance!
let me present you my results
revolution 1.2 on SDcard = 7mA in standby
RAM darkstone edition = 6 mA in standby
But it depens on other stuff too. Seems like battery consumption is same and still depens on kernel. RAM version gives you the speed but consumption is same.
Theese are my results. Others may have different experience.
thx for sharing. i imagined that ram builds don't spare much more battery than normal builds. i will keep on mdj's froyo hd build then...

Thanx
How much HD2 consumpt in "not-standby" state in RAM edition?
frankly, i find that my battery drains faster both in standby and non-standby with darkstone's superRAM than JDMS defrost build. i did not check whether it's a kernel issue but no improvement in terms of battery life here.

Been trying alot of builds recently trying to get reliable gps (+ compass) and decent battery life. I really like MDJ's desire HD build nice gps + nav and best of all loving the new sense interface. But as with a few other builds i have tried recently battery drainage has gone through the roof.
To compare to darkstones desire hd build i get 3-8 mA in standby and i can get around 18-22 hours out of the phone. But most of the recent builds i am only managing 8-10 hours max.
I have tried shubcraft 2.0, the latest hyperdroid, the latest MDJ evo and of course MDJ's latest desire hd. All of which have increased significantly in battery drainage. But when i switch back to an older build battery drainage falls in line again.
Is there something i can do to sort it out? As i see a lot of people report decent battery life whereas my observations are totally the opposite.

looked but can only find everything ive been doing ever since android was first developed for hd2. using winmo battery tweaks, setcpu, turning off all unnecessary wireless (wifi, data, syncs) using a android loader + making sure keypad lights are on. only thing new i found was your post about reconditioning the battery to let it know when it is actually full. none of that addresses the 100+ mA i get in standby and neither does reconditioning the battery.
hello
im have HD2 512 MB rom with ChukyRoM and rEVOlution build in it.
my battery life is horrible.
after 5 minutes of music without screen i got 2 percent drain from my battery.
i can barely complete a day without battery runs out before 3PM
can anyone recommend me the best sense build and rom for battery life?
i desperate
sorry for my bad english.
can anyone help?
Hello, use my settings + low screen britness
T-Mobile HTC HD2
Cotulla HardSPL
OMEGA ROM
Mdeejay eVo Sense v.2.0 REVOlution
Stock Radio
this last for 1 day with normal use
omega is good for battery life?
what sd card are you using? i might be wrong but most of the time, battery drain is down to the type of an sd card you are using rather than what winmo rom you have got.

sandisk 2GB MicroSD is that really matters?
what about radios, that can help too, right?
if the configuration of android settings (like backlight, autosync, set cpu) does not help to reduce battery drain, then try a different radio and sd card as well. unfortunately, i cannot tell which radio and sd card to use, since it is rather subjective. i personally use Samsung 8 gb class 6 sd card, running FroyoStone 3.1 on the latest stock rom 3.14 and radio 2.15.50.
also what is your batter drain in mA during standby? you can check that with Current Widget from the marketplace

il try another radio.
in standby i have 30-60 ma
on music or games i have 200-400 ma
that terrible
30-60 mA in stanby is a bit too much, average should be around 7-9 mA, but there are some that can get even less like 3-5 mA. 400 mA while playing games i think is alright.
Well, this works for me...

I switched rom and did your guide.
still didnt help.
any other ideas?
any other ideas? please!
Are you using setCPU?
edit: just noticed you said you had followed that guide which is all about tuning your CPU, so you can disregard the above question.
Try to use different windows rom
As I know ozdroid, Chuckydroid. And vbnrom are the best.
Or try different radio 2.10.50, 2.12.50 or the latest 2.15.50
Or sometimes try to restart the device will work
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Make sure your running apps aren't sucking power behind the scenes. I'd try by killing off suspect apps one or two at a time. Even if they pop back up (because of a widget or other background service) it can help because it kills a service that they are running. don't use Auto Kill though or it might increase your battery use.
Have you cleaned any widgets off your homescreen that might frequently use CPU?
any other ideas?
I'm using Mdeejay rEVOlution 2.3 ROM. 'Android System' is using 58% of my battery, Chucky lite ROM with most of the WM settings off, and Hastarin Kernel (can't remember which number). Is this right?
No, usually Display takes most of the battery. Might be a bad build or something, you might want to format your SD card and load a new version of android on it.
Luckych
Cheers for the reply! I guess I'll crack on with it. Good job it's a Sunday, hey?
i have installed android for the first time yesterday. this is all new to me (flashing roms and stuff) but it all went ok. i have though noticed that battery life is poor. Firstly, i have searched the forum and noted that many users are stating what the battery usage is in mA. how exactly is this measured? is there an app? secondly, it appears the battery can be effected by what rom, radio etc is installed. if i was to try a different rom or radio, would i have to install android again along with all my apps?
thanks
i kind of have this problem too but it hink thats just how these early builds are.
Use currentwidget to measure mA.
My mA idle get down t 5mA, but I am still having some issues getting battery life that i think is acceptable

thanks for that. just tried the widget. lowest i get is 7mA
5 to 9 mA is great battery consumption at idle, I'm having an issue staying there, I bottom out one day at 3mA but then today my phone doesn't drop below 50mA at idle. Windows Rom and radios are important for it to run smoothly but I don't think a lite rom makes a difference over a full rom, when haret launches , is gonna keep anything from running on windows(so I hear) I've tried many many roms, and the vbn rom, which is a super lite rom, didn't perform better than what I'm using right now which is energy cht. Radio will keep you from having issues with the phone waking up,(bsod) I've tried a bunch of radios and settled with the 2.15, a lot of people swear by it!
I see that there are more Android NAND roms everyday, I was wondering if you could tell me the difference in battery drain.
I would like to switch completely to Android, but with Android installed on my SD the battery is empty within one day... I was wondering how your NAND results are.
I've never seen 1-2mA draw on SD before.
However my NAND does it every now and again.
That was with phone and data on.
well normally nand, but because of my high drainage peaks in sleep mode its a bit worse than on sd... except in active usage it drains less.
my experience is
SD card 7-8mA in standby (sometimes i get 5-6mA)
With NAND i hget ussualy 3-4mA (sometimes 2mA)

which radio version do you have?
What about RAM builds, very good battery life with Dark Stones SUPERAM build (not to mention it being the fastest)

ram also counts as sd build
well yes its good, but afaik current widget doesnt count in the drainage caused by ram

it shouldn't be though as it's different to SD builds.
I'm not jumping on the NAND bandwagon just yet anyway, when you have a build as fast as Dark Stones SUPERAM one im quite content to wait until all the issues they are currently having to be resolved.

my radio is 2.15
Nand = Mike Tyson
SD = a big girls blouse.
'nough said...Nand is 1,000,000% better than SD on battery drain.
Matt
Lowest I could get with SD was 10ma, averaging around 15ma.
Lowest I have got with NAND is 2ma, averaging around 3-4ma.
Hello,
I got my HD2 for about 2 weeks now and I tried almost al available roms (SD) and I really don't have any idea which one has the best overall performance. I know there are a lot of topics like this one and I also already searched trough the forum but all these topics are outdated. These are the ROMS I tried the most and for the longest time:
Nexus HD2 2.3.7 GingerBread (battery died in 4 hours)
DL Desire 4.31 (laggy and most of time not working)
FroyoStone Sense (less ram memory available, Sense is slow)
MCCM HD V6 (really drains battery)
IceCreamTostiDroid v10.0 (good rom but some games and apps are not compatible)
IceCreamTostiDroid v11.0 (same as ICTD 10.0)
RAFDROiD 4.2 (overall performance not so good, only 1200 Quadrant Benchm)
I would really appreciate a good advice. It's for daily use. And I don't really like big roms with all kinda themes...
greetz!

If you want just SD build, then i would go with hyperdroid. Either CM7 or Gingerbread, battery life is phenomenal. Also, kernel builds will change your battery consumption too. So it may not always be your ROM. Also, there are things running in the background that you may not use, (for me it was google talk, maps, and LatinIME) i used startup manager to keep them from running at startup.
I can't really give you a specific ROM, but I can give you some advice.
First, if you really care about performance and speed, steer away from Sense.
I'd recommend MIUI for battery life, my phone used to last 3-4 days easily (a few phone calls and sms each day, network ON)
Cyanogenmod should be an option as well, it is fast and has a fair battery consumption rate.
However, the major factor is your usage of wireless networking/apps.
e.g. ,, Using 3G network will drink your battery far more than using 2G.
Keeping Bluetooth/WiFi on while not using them will also drain your battery.
Installing apps that require/keep background processes will drain your battery.
After all, it is up to you choosing a ROM.
HyperDroid is a good choice, Cm7 based, fast, dark-eye-candy, and low battery consumption
