Usually on any other phone I had I was able to have it show photo 1, 2,3 and so on but with my SGS its the date and time, I was wondering if any of you could help me with a fix to have it disable the time and date stamp, its the time I don't want really, i can live with the date, yes I know I can rename after taking the picture but if i can make it name the picture to something different without me renaming it, then that would be excellent
many thanks

Whenever I take a picture or a video, I set it to save the file with the prefix "Date and Time". Unfortunately, I don't like the way the prefix is set up. It pushes the entire date and time into one huge prefix (very annoying, might I add). By default, it would take a picture/video and name it "20071010071730_001" (yyyymmddHmm_#) and I want it to read something like "10-10-07_1730:001" (mm-dd-yy_Hmm:#). Simple, easier to read, and less fuss.
I was wondering if there was a way to change the format of the Date and Time prefix? I can't seem to find the registry key to change it.
My pictures (all from camera) appear in a weird order-it's not by date, date modified, date taken, date created, or by name. Any ideas on how they are sorted? It's a nice program but this seems it's only flaw-and you cannot choose how they are sorted from within the program.
Thank you all.
Pictures are ordered by descendand date and time of the files (not the date when the photos were taken, but the timestamp of the image archives).
Anyone knows if the sorting criteria can be changed anywhere (in the registry, etc.)?
I posted a workaround here:

Hi there, today lokking for good wind in my area to kitesurf, i've noticed that there aren't specific applications for PPC to retrieve infos from internet.
Would be "nice" if an app can collect the images into the links posted later... (if possible, also local time & day), and then have an animation (as the site already do) of the preset day.
with opera i need ~3 minutes to get the informations, and cannot see it offline (except, i think, if i save it at every exit from opera).
Now the links... notice that every frame has a different numberpage into the link, and also the png image has the same number:
This is the actual situation (akt)

after an hour

Two hours

...until campania30.htm or more.
Will be nice an app who automatically download only all the images, and collect them by temporal order..
Naturally the concept is ok also for other countries..
Heyy, I am also a kiteboarder (still learning, only started last year) and would love to see something like this!
Same here this would be great i would love to have this software
uhm ok, i've noticed that the numbers into the links doesn't change every hour, but there is a sort of script who call, time based, the links numbered (i.e. now starts from campania13.htm )
BUT (ehhe) "we" can use this script to our advantage...
Look here
http://www.windfinder.com/forecasts/superforecast_italy_campania_animation.htm
Just download in sequence all the images, and put it into a "calendar" starting with the same date & hour of the download (or manually sync the first frame with the calendar )
Ps: the "calendar" is the timeline of the pseudo-app
I think it's not too difficult... BTW, this is mine (and other's) request
No way to have a similar app?
I'm probably not the first to 'complain' about this... but I thought I'd put it all together in one post and see if anyone was having the same issues, or same results...
So...
Trying to 'Sync' Facebook contact pics with my x10 contact pics - tried a few apps, and while most of them did the job to some degree, with varying results, but mainly the same level of disappointment, one thing I found with all of them was that the resolution was abysmal to say the least...
I found also that if I opened Facebook, I could view any of my own profile pics, and I was given the option to assign them to a contact – great (sort of) providing the only people I know are myself. Friends pictures were ‘locked’ such that the assign to contact option did not exist - silly, really.
Now, while fiddling with my phone, I discovered that the some of the Facebook contact syncing apps actually downloaded a full quality pic to my device – perfect – now let me see if I can open them and assign them to a contact... nope, no luck – interestingly, they were ‘locked’ just like they were when I opened them through Facebook – no option to assign them to a contact.
Now, I move them to another folder (one which had pics that I could assign) and all of a sudden, they were unlocked... funniest thing was that pics left in the original folder I took them from were also unlocked... odd... good too, but odd.
So happily assigning all these full definition contact pics, I then had a look at them, and the resolution was again abysmal... WTF...! Anyway, one last go, and instead of going via the picture to assign it to a contact, I went through the contact then assigned a picture to it... Success...! this time proper resolution...!
So from this I assume that going through the picture, or any syncing apps, you’re only getting a contact pic as good a quality as the Android system expects. However, if you go through the contact, the x10 is getting a contact pic at the full quality it knows it needs to display...
Anyway, take what you will from this, but I thought it was interesting...
same over here, the pictures I assigned to my contacts are very high quality and they all look like sh#t on the phone when some one calls me.
It is full of noise and extremely blurry. Really don't understand why...They can't be made this for such a low quality so I assume we do something wrong, but I can't figure it out. Do we need very big resolution pictures to get them proper on this phone? But thanks for the tip, working the other way around does work good, but it keeps being strange...
Cheers.
Arnold
Consider that a phone call needs to pop-up right away. Why waste the processing speed to show a full resolution image?
Note: I think an update that went around to some regions cleaned up the resolution a bit.

Not the brazilian update.
I'm willing to swear that it's a donut issue... mainly because going the Android way in is ugly, and the SE way in is on the money...
You'll also notice the Android way gives you a square pic, and the SE way gives you an elongated pic to fit with their interface...

Agreed that it might be low res for this reason, but the x10 can handle the hi res just as good - and considering the contact pics are so large, you definitely want them full res.
Hopefully SE do some updates to improve this... Hopefully...

Problem is, I don't wan't the elongated pic or the square pic.
With WinMo I could put any pic format.
Why should I be restricted in Android?
Ive been looking for an option to set what the filename of photos are but i cant seem to see it. I pretty sure there isnt one, which is kinda disapointing. It woiuld be nice to be able to set it so pictures area easier to find when backed up.
I have t in the park coming uip (working) and it would be good to be able to set the filename to t in the park day 1, and so on for easy uploading to our webnsite and facebook.
when i had the g1 i could do this no problem.
IM starting to regret not waiting on the desire coming back in stock. the large screen just isnt making up for all the things its lacking in software.
ok i found that you can enable prefix for storage card, but i dont want date prefixing, i want custom one
Do you just want to change the file name? Open the image in the album, bring up the controls for the picture, hit the right most icon, Properties, and Rename is located on the right softkey.
No i want to set a prefix so that my photos can be orginised better. isnteam of imagennn i want for instance, t in the parknnn.
So i can basically set it, take pictures, then change it to something else etc
