I have a desire and also a desire hd - I connect them to exchange server 2010 - no problems with the desire. But the desire hd appears to not be able to send email (does not appear in sent items and recp does not get email) or upload contacts entered on the phone.
I have searched the web and found this post about it:
http://androidforums.com/android-ap...e-hd-cannot-send-android-native-mail-app.html
but no answers - so is this a common issue with the desire hd?
I do NOT want to use 3rd party software.
Despite my searches i have found nothing ... so I am asking here if anyone else has this problem or knows a way of fixing it.
Thanks
Kris
I don't think you will get your answer here as it is a Touch HD (Blackstone) forum...Try here:

Go in your device to ActiveSync-->Menu-->shedule...and check your settings. if you wanted real push then the setting should be : "as items arrive"
yeah i've already set that. Interestingly if i click sync in active sync app it then retrieves the mail from the server.
I have noticed that i occassionally get a message
'the security certificate on the server is not valid ...'
but it still syncs?
I also didnt get this message on my iphone
my works flawlessly with the settings above... sadly too well and i cant escape my emails!
the only thing i can suggest to try, is to un associate and re associate the hd with the exchange server and see if that fixes
as for the security cert, never had that, but i am probably on a different server (unless we work for some company) and im usings leos 3.55 rom
even with your little prob, the HD is still better than the iphone
fixed:
i de-associated and re-associated the device and it seem to fix it
(that and installing the certificate from my office server!!)
thanks
and yes it knocks spots of the iphone as a business phone .. just need to find some nice juicy hd games
Just got my brand new desire hd this morning... looks fabulous.
Before anyone starts screaming that this question has already been asked, I would like to mention that I consulted "search" and didn't find any results.
That being said, is it possible to install push mail on the desire hd without going via gmail (thus, directly from my provider) ? And, if possible, what do I need and how do I proceed ?
I have a second question. I installed swype. I go to "lesson", I get a welcoming screen with the usual blabla and it ends with "push on next" (or something like that, my phone is in Dutch). There is however no "next" button on the screen. I can swype (during the lesson), but I can't get any further. Any suggestion (besides suicide) ???
Thanks a lot for all your very usefull answers
Jan
This question is in wrong section. Anyways, push mail is always there using Exchange accounts (non-gmail)....and on a seperate note where did you purchase the DHD from ?
Thank you for your answer. Where should I place my question ?
I do not use exchange but POP.
I bought the DHD at vodafone (in the Netherlands)
Cheers
Jan

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I've managed to set up my hotmail account to push mail to my phone, but i cant get to make changes on the server from my DHD. so when i read, delete or move mail on my device, its not happening on my web inbox. i've got the option ticked in the settings, before anyone asks! anyone know how i can resolve this?
It appears the Desire Z is suffering from the same issue that the DHD had here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797733 .
It has since been fixed on the HD.... c'mon HTC, release an OTA update already!
Anyone else experiencing this?
Otherwise, fab phone...
I'm suddenly glad my work uses Exchange 2007

Yeah, Touchdown works fine but HTC mail (built in ActiveSync) blends the calendar and contacts into Sense so well... just have to wait I suppose...
I'm using HTC Sense's mail client with Exchange 2010 and all is fine?!

htc's sense client does look pretty nice, but i use touchdown's alert rules quite a bit (ie if a server goes down play a sound until i pick up the device and do something).

Have you tried to send an email? (It look like it sends but doesn't actually go anywhere)
Have you tried to open any attachments?
Damn. You are right. Can't send mail. So still no fix?!
So i have a work-around after reading the above and other forums.
i turned off "Exchange" sync in my phone for email – left it on for calendar as i like the HTC calendar widget.
Then installed this stock email APK
http://denness.net/Email.apk
Then set it up to sync JUST email..
Then changed the "Mail" (HTC) icon on my home sceren to the "Email" (Stock android) icon.
Now all works well.
The HTC mail app is a BIT nicer – but not by much. The stock app is pretty good too.
So until HTC release an OTA update for this problem (like they have for HTC Desire HD), the above is a reasonably good work-around.
Wonder if we should contact HTC to tell them? Or will they issue an update soon enough?
When using the HTC app, the EAS version reported by webmail is 14.
When using the stock android app, the EAS version is 12.

I've just set up an IMAP account for the time being...
might drop HTC an email today if I get bored @ work - can't hurt.
Can you set up an Exchange account as IMAP? What do you "lose" this way?
I guess it won't fix the issue of not browsing the corporate address book right?

You just need IMAP enabled on the server.
Of course this only does mail, but you can still sync your contacts/calendar with activesync(just not the mail).
You can't seem to update contacts on the phone either (but I can live with that until they fix it).
Calendar syncs both ways ok (from what I can see).
and unfortunately no, you can't browse the corporate address book...

I see you are coming from Windows Mobile (looking at your previous phones).
Not all ActiveSync options are available in Android...
Did anyone contact HTC re the HTC mail app not working with Exchange 2010?
Seems strange that HTC issued an update to the HTC Desire HD OTA to fix this (they changed the version of ActiveSync (AES) from 14 back to 12).. but not yet for the Desire Z??

I dropped HTC a support request through their web page yesterday, referring to the Desire HD fix etc. Haven't heard anything back yet (not holding my breath).
Suggest you do the same - the more people complaining, the more likely they are to fix it...
I've also done the same.. let's see what happens!
Desire Z in combination with Exchange 2010 OWA EAS Policy
We have the same issue here at my work.
We ordered 45 HTC Desire Z phones, and me and my colleagues are one of the lucky ones to get a new business phone
We have a Microsoft Exchange 2010 Mailserver with ActiveSync OWA email services enabled. We make use of the Activesync EAS Policy (EAS14?) that enables Remote Wipe, requires user to set a system pin (simple pin) and uses phone encryption.
Now on all other HTC phones (HD2, Desire standard, Touch Pro 2) we have no problems using this phone and exchange 2010 with policy combination.
The HTC Desire Z has some other Email client that cannot handle this Policy..
Tuesday i contacted HTC Benelux (NL) but the problem was not yet known there.. i believe the combination of the Desire Z with Exchange 2010 and a EAS policy is quite unique, so worldwide there are not a lot of users that have problems i think..
HTC is still investigating on my Incident, and they are now using a test account on my Exchange OWA. I really hope they bring out a fix soon.. i'm not about to change my Policy settings, and licensing 45 phones with Nitrodesk Touchdown is not really part of the plan..
Good that HTC are investigating. You should mention to them that the HTC Desire HD had identical problems and HTC issued an over-the-air (OTA) update that fixed it - by changing the EAS policy back to version 12..
PLease keep us informed!!
Hi.
I have setup HTC Sync to sync a folder over to my DHD. However I found syncing files to be a bit quirky.
Docs created on the device are not synced to the PC, only the other way round.
Docs deleted on the device are not deleted on the PC, only the other way round. The doc that remains on the PC needs to be modified in order to sync back to the device - seems there is some sort of cache.
Is the above a bug of HTC Sync and is happening to other persons? Is to possible to get file synching as one would expect it to be, i.e. as I was accustomed through Activesync and Windows Mobile 6.5?
Thanks.
Bump...any feedback?
Is it possible that I am the only one to experience this issue? Any feedback from other users and possibly also help?
I'm beginning to think that I am the only one to use and experience this.
OK, perhaps it's not a high priority but nevertheless quite an annoyance considering the thing worked perfectly for years in Windows Mobile and Activesync.
I'd advise you to try MyPhoneExplorer.

Thanks. I'll check that out. Do you know if MyPhoneExplorer offers two-way sync with the DHD?
Back to my original problem I have since received feedback from HTC Support. They are claiming that HTC Sync offers a choice on the sync direction, either to the PC or to the DHD. I was not offered this choice when I installed HTC Sync on the PC and neither when connecting the DHD to the PC for the first time. To be sure of this I installed HTC Sync on a second PC and connected the DHD to this second PC. Again, no choice was ever offered.
I have written back asking for proof of this sync choice offer and will post back here any feedback received. In any case I have told HTC Support that if indeed HTC Sync only offeres one-way sync then it is indeed only a half-baked solution.

I got the same problem.
Did you ever find a solution besides MyPhoneExplorer?
I'm still corresponding, sort of, with HTC. My support request was routed to HTC Italy who asked me to rewrite the request in Italian. Fortunately that was not a problem for me.
Since then there has been much to-and-fro between me and HTC with them asking me to do things that had nothing whatsoever to do with my problem. As an example they kept asking me questions as to the version of Outlook I have even though I am not syncing any contacts or calendar. They even asked me to if my problem was if I could not install HTC Sync, and another time said that one-way sync is all that HTC Sync was and during installation of the latter on the PC one is asked in which direction should the one-way sync work. All this is quite a load.
In my last communucation a couple of days ago I asked them for a clear explanation and solution, failing which I will escalae the matter through other HTC channels.
EDIT: I have not installed or tried to use MyPhoneExplorer. I expect the matter to be resolved by HTC and MyPhoneExplorer is only a last resort.
Thanks Leon.
It looks like they giving you the run around.
Keep me posted if you come right.
I will let you know if I find a solution.
thanks again

Yes, but then still no reason for HTC to look the other way and hope the problem, or I, disappear.
Hi all... apologies if this has already been answered but I cannot seem to find it.
MY HTC Touch HD recently died and am looking to replace it with the HD Mini....
Has anyone tried to use the new settings to sync everything with Live Mail... Including Calendar?
For some reason the forum wont let me write the settigns in here citing external links as being an issue... anyway... I'm refering to the m.hotmail.com settings! Where to SSL is enabled... Outlined on this forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704025.
I have found mixed reviews regarding sucess using these settings but was wondering if it is working on the Mnin! If anyone has done this and it works please let me know as it is vital on my new phone! I never had calendar sync working on the Touch HD...
thanks to all in advance! andy
