Looking for T-Mobile offical 1.6 update for mytouch

Hello I just received a un-rooted mytouch but it is stuck on 1.5 even though the previous user has been using it on the network for the past few months. Is there somewhere I can download the latest official 1.6 update to flash onto this device?

just one click root it and flash a donut rom. It will only take like 15 minutes, and with everything else that you will be able to do with it, it would definitely be worth it.

I tried these instructions but get an error when attempting to flash. Also the ROM he has linked is only 20mb?

is that link the REAL official t-Mobile Donut 1.6 update?? I dont understand why there are not numerous links and sources to the update, I need the real update cause i am test driving the phone, I wanna root it and try it thaqt way, but eventually in a few days im gonna have to give it back to my buddy, he already was buggin about my rooting it, i mean i guess if decide to buy it thats one thing, but i would like to bring it back to Official 1.6 status if not
Its weird usually when anykind of firmware or operating system is releaseed everyone has tons of dwnload links and various sources to get it, but i mean its weird i can only find that one link thats posted above?? Original Telus HTC Hero ROM Image???

Guys,
I am interested in rooting my Telus Hero, but I am wanting to know if there is an original ROM image available for the Telus variant so that I can restore the phone to factory configuration if I need to. I mainly want to do this to install the Google Turn-By-Turn Navigation on it.

just do a nandroid backup of your telus rom before flashing...

In order to do a Nandroid backup I have to root the phone first correct? If this is the case, then there is no way to unroot the phone to it's default out of box state, correct?

Not quite correct, but close enough so as not to matter.
You don't need to be rooted to run Nandroid, but you do need to boot a custom recovery image. On earlier stock ROMs, it was possible to boot a recovery image without flashing it do the device, but this probably isn't an option for you since I guess the Telus Hero has the new SPL which disallows this.
What you really need is an original Telus RUU, but I'm not aware if this publicly exists.

That's correct, there's no public Telus RUU.
If you really want a Telus stock ROM to revert to, wait till the eclair update comes out.

I was in the same boat as you. Wanted to use custom ROM but always wanted to have to option to go back to stock Telus ROM. I lasted a little over a month and bit the bullet. To be honest, if you are comfortable with customs roms and general phone hacking then I don't think there's a need to wait. There are some good stable custom roms out there and I don't see a need to ever go back to stock Telus (unless you need warranty work perhaps? but not sure).

I may bite the bullet tonight and try it out. I am using mine on AT&T in the USA anyways, so warranty work is out of the question.

To be honest, if you've flashed a custom ROM and you phone does go wrong, in order to get it back to stock your phone would need function to such an extent that you could load an RUU on to it - if it was completely dead or the USB died, it wouldn't matter if you had an RUU because you wouldn't be able to install it anyway.

I have mine running on Rooted 2.73.405.66
Everything stock except it was rooted. Works great.

Hey, how did you root it on the stock?
Did you need to downgrade RUU?
I know I had too... could you make a ROM for all the people that want the stock..

Rooting and updating to Froyo

Hi guys,
I have a question about updating to Froyo once it is available with a rooted phone. Will I have to unroot in order to take advatage of an OTA update or will I be able to upgrade along with the unrooted users?
Does the same thing apply to a phone that is flashed with a custom ROM and Kernal?
I've just rooted my phone and installed wifi tether which was the main reason for me to root.
The appeal extra battery life and the ability to over/underclock is the reason I want to flash a custom rom.
I ask this because although I've succeeded in rooting my Epic I can't seem to boot into the clockworkmod recovery screen and thus not been able to flash a custom rom or kernal. I have yet to try unrooting and starting over from scratch but with Froyo seemingly on the horizon, I don't want to go through all the hassle of trying to get a custom ROM only to have to undo it when Froyo arrives.

This has been covered multiple times in this forum.
Devs will likely be coming out with ROMs based on Froyo very soon after the Froyo update.
But if you can't wait till then, you'll have to go back to stock everything (kernel+ROM) to get your phone updated via OTA.
Still not sure about root, but if our phones get de-rooted during the update, someone will also come up with a rooting method quickly.

My guess is yes, you will lose root as it will flash a new kernel that won't have the rooted initramfs. You will most likely need to re-root using a new method once 2.2 is available. I could be wrong though, nobody knows for sure yet.

[Q] unrEVOked 3 root

Does anyone know when unrEVOked will be able to find a root for the Wildfire on 2.2.1? I hope they find it soon. From how much they've been delaying it seems like they just don't want to even try. Should I disable the Search online for updates feature so my phone stops updating?

* They will release it when they want to. We have no option or control over them. If they want to try, it is their wish, if they don't want to try, again it is their wish. Live with it.
* If you are already on 2.2.1, there's no point disabling search for updates because it is extremely unlikely there will be any.
*Sigh*, why cant you read already existing threads before creating another one? Is it too hard?

omfg! seems like you have disabled search function for this forum, this topic gets posted at least once a day

when i got the phone it was on 2.1 but did'nt want to wait for froyo so rooted using unrevoked and installed the wildpuzzle rom 2.2.1 then tried the stock rom thought i screwed up when i read the forums and discovered root was not availiable for froyo first i checked hboot version on my phone discovered that it was 0.80.0003 then i installed the wildpuzzle rom back onto the sd card rebooted phone in recovery mode and installed rom from sd card rebooted and waited for it to restart now have root back on wildfire not sure if it will work on the new hboot tho

WildPuzzle 2.2.1 (Or rather, ANY custom ROM), removes the updated HBOOT. So, obviously, 2.2.1 will be rootable in such cases.

so using a custom rom over the top of a stock 2.2.1 as i did makes the wildfire rootable again?

No. You will not be able to use a Custom ROM over Stock 2.2.1 because installing a Custom ROM requires root.

If I understood what you said, then I dont think you have installed the official 2.2.1 update. I cant see that anywhere in your post. (Saying you applied the official 2.2.1 update).
When you went back to the Stock ROM, it was still at 2.1, which is why the HBOOT was still at 0.80. To install the official update, from the Stock ROM, you would have to accept the OTA Update, and then install it, which I don't think you did.

when i went back to the stock rom it was deffo 2.2.1 i put the wildpuzzle rom straight over the top of it

Not possible. There is some error in communication somewhere, but, if it were possible to directly put Custom ROMs over the official 2.2.1, we wouldnt have had threads like this everyday.

unless after you rooted and flashed, you then installed a ruu then updated you did not have 2.2. when you went back did you restore a nandroid backup?

no back up all i know is that after i updated i had no root on the wildfire and on 2.2 now after putting wildpuzzle rom over the top of it i now haved a rooted wildfire again

But isn't it possible to modify oryginal rom from HTC to downgrade HBOOT , and then make Wildfire rootable? Or make some crash in HBOOT witch will allow to root? That's a lot of ways, is it possible that HTC make Wildfire really unrootable on 2,2,1? That they make unlockable bootloader? Like a motorola?

CORRECTION It is the correct rom Tmobile verified it is the correct version sorry but i would still like to be rooted so i can go back to 2.2.1 I put this rom [ROM]Glacier_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.19.531.1_Radio_12.58 .60.25_26.11.04.03_M_release on my phone So if anyone knows how please HELP so i can get the OTA.

Of course HTC is not gonna provide support for a rooted phone that you flashed a leaked ROM to...If you want it back to stock then flash the one from footballs post if you want the GB update or find the stock pd15img and flash it in the bootloader.
