I had that problem with my first Vibrant. The problem will get worse. Take the phone back and get a new one.
It might even start freezing
Did you restore any old "system data" after switching ROMS or restoring a nandroid? Have you tried to run the "fix permissions" script in ROM manager?
I've had the phone since day one. I can't return it now can i?
My phone randomly reset on me one day sitting on the table and went into a loop like this. Battery pull fixed it.

phone does not respond to any buttons so I can not use the download mode
try buying/building a JIG, im not much of a pro with a JIG, but it'll get you into download mode, idk how it works, but wait for more answers is all i can say
JIG is not working, the phone does not respond
I just had this happen...take everything out of the phone, plug in usb to pc, hold down only the volume buttons, plug in the usb to phone, put in the battery and it should go right into download mode....

That works when phone is soft bricked, this looks like a hard brick
I thought that only developers hard bricked vibrants, I didn't really ever think it could happen while flashing a rom? Was your battery charged at least at 20%? I have axura 2.2.5.7 and it flashed fine when I did it a few weeks ago this makes me not want to update to the newest rom.

Thats what I thought too. I just had this happen last night...no power, no buttons, no boot, nothing... DEAD. I tried this this morning and it worked.
I tried everything, no effect, unless the phone in the trash, unless you know another way to fix it, all the other roms work without a problem, the problem was only with Axura
Recently my G2 has been acting up. First problem is when I charge it to 100% and start using it, the battery is down to 0 in 2 hours. This has never happened before. So I charged it again and this time I powered it off because I was at work and didn't need to use it right away. I tried to power it on and the battery was drained when I had shut down my phone. This is with the Cyanogen and Gingervillian ROM. I have no clue what's going on.
Okay yea... There was somebody with the same issue. Also had that problem not to long ago. I found out it was the battery and I called T-Mobile and they sent me a new battery but that's my phone. So anyways have you tried to go back to stock?
Sent from my HTC Desire Z/G2 using XDA Premium App
I don't think it's the battery because I tried a second battery that I have as a backup and the same thing happened. I haven't tried going back to default yet though. Maybe I'll try that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024867
Try that do exactly as the app says and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't go back to stock and then re-flash any ROM later.

There shouldn't be. I put it back to factory and the same thing is happening. I've about given up on it.
I was having the same problem I fixed it on cyan 7.0.0...3 hours before battery even started to discharge.

Okay here is my whole story. I decided to root my MyTouch 4g yesterday. So I went ahead and went through with it. I was required to downgrade to Froyo since I was running Gingerbread. So I did all of that through adb. When all was done. I flashed the Virtuous Unity rom. When I started it up everything was fine. I was enjoying it for about 2 hours while I was playing with it and texting and chatting with my friends. Then when I was about to go to sleep it froze. So I did a battery pull and started it back up. That is when I noticed that it was staying on the Mytouch 4g screen. Then it went to Clockworkmod Recovery. I tried to restore but it keeps saying that it can't mount the system. I also tried to use bootloader and downloaded the PD15IMG.zip file and placed it on there. It would say 'No image or wrong image' Then it would go and say Fail-Pu for all of the images. I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING. Any advice please! I am desperate, my mom is going to kill me!

i think you bricked your device.. i will look more details and report later..
:'(((((((((( Omg this can't be. Is there anyway to restore the file that I backed up because it won't let me do it through Clockworkmod Recovery!
Wipe everything
Go to mount/format
turn on USB storage thing (connect to computer)
Download a different Rom to the computer an transfer it to The phone
Flash it and hopefully it works
I can't even get onto my phone. It is just the MyTouch 4G screen and then it goes to Cwm Recovery and that's it. =/
That's what I'm talking about from recovery you can connect you phone to the computer

does clockworkmod recovery give you errors about not being able to mount cache?
cause that sounds a LOT like my old phone, which ended up dead because of a fail eMMC chip.
which method of rooting did you use?
If I report my phone as stolen to T-Mobile would they give me a free replacement? I do have the (PHP) Premium Handset Protection Bundle!

That's quite a lot! O_O Should I just wait until christmas? I really don't want that to be my christmas gift though!!! I really hope there's a way I can unbrick this! >.<
No, there isn't. It's a HW defect, when eMMC fails - the phone is done.
I guess I will hopd out until christmas and get another phone even though I JUST got this one!
If you have insurance you can get a free warranty replacement. Just say you woke up and it wouldn't turn on.

I don't think it's completely free.. your just not paying for the value of the phone because you have insurance you pay $130 instead of $500.. I stand corrected..

No that's for Premium hardware replacement from water damage etc. If you call and just say it wont turn on anymore they might charge you shipping but that's it...I'm on my 3rd mt4g and it has bad chip AND screen (and this is the last before I have to get a different phone) I've never once had to pay for more than shipping except when I cracked the screen

Was any of your device sent in rooted and left that way or you unroot and sent in like that?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Well my mom is planning to take my phone to a local T-Mobile store tomorrow! I really don't think that it is a good idea since my phone is rooted and once it gets past the splash screen it will start up cwm recovery! So should I just brick the phone to the point where it doesn't turn on and just say it just turned off and wouldn't turn back on? Would that be the best way?

From what I hear, they don't care if a device is rooted, just make sure that the stock ROM is on there.
So I call them, they send me a replacement phone, I get it, send my broken phone back to them, they test to see if it is broken, it stays on the splash screen for 5 minutes until booting into Clockworkmod Recovery, then what will they do once they see that? Will they take it as broken? PLEASE ANSWER! =/

Battery Out, USB In, Battery Back In. Shouldn't Power On. (Unless You're Using Magldr)

No. Assuming you are having Magldr, it is in fact a feature and not a bug (of Magldr, not the kernel). Magldr cannot charge your phone if it is switched off, and needs Android or Windows to be loaded to charge. So it boots the phone if it detects the charger/ USB when phone is off.
It does not cause any harm. But make sure you do not let your battery go completely dead, if you do then even if Magldr boots the phone the OS may not have enough power to load, leading to a bootloop.
