[Q] Issue after ROM upgrade - HD2 General

Dear all,
I have just upload officially ROM version 3.14.707.3 (04666) WWE from HTC site.
OS Version 5.2.21913 (21913.5.0.94)
Manila version 2.5.20181527.0
The following issues are occured afterward:
1. SMS Sent Notification is always ON pls help to disable it, I have tried several ways just like adjust registry, intalled patch but still remain
2. Sync with outloook then I had duplicate phone entry, too big phonebook , pls advise how to delete that duplicated
If there is some more, may I come to ask again right now the 1st one makes me tired.
Thank you
-DuongTM-

To fix the first one-goto messages->settings->uncheck "request delivery report" under SMS.
To fix the second. Open your contacts...and manually delete the duplicates...sorry but as far as I know there is no other way to get them off other than deleting them.

How lucky you are
Which ROM version is it???

3.14 TMOUS. Just a thought, have you tried backing everything up and doing a hard reset, then restoring? If others aren't having the same problems, maybe something on your phone is not right... something that can be fixed by a factory reset.

I got the phone on 18-April, when I first got it, straight away I went to HTC and look for new rom, I think this is the rom that I'm currently using.
rom version: 2.32.707.2 (44800)
rom date: 04/07/09
radio version: 0.41.30.12
protocol version: 12.41.30.16H
Never use the old rom before, can't give any comparison comment but so far I have no problem with this rom.

1. Fixed auto-reboot issue after enabling WLAN.
Yesterday I encounter twice reboot while browsing a chinese website, it reboot after I entered my username and password and click on login. I'm using the opera browser, but later on I tried with other website, it doesn't happen, weird problem...
yup being test it since its being release...
kind of better gps reception. some improvement on the answering call menu... got 1 new menu pop up which you can slide to right to answer or left to ignore...
nothing outstanding about the ROM.

Has anyone installed a UK / Europe ROM on an Asiapac device? Does it work?
Called up HTC customer care number 1800113377
asked them about "when we will get the update?". Lady on the phone clearly said "we ARE going toget the update". we just have to wait little bit more.
the update is ready with them and it is the HTC HQ's call when to release the update.

DAMN! i'm sorry to hear about your scare...i kinda feel responsible, having suggested the idea!
may I ask why you are avoiding installing a cooked or even OFFICIAL (as in UK version) ROM? are you worried about guarantee? or the risk of damaging your phone? Because if so, then i am gladly willing to walk any1 through the steps you need to take to get it running.
Guide me pls..
drag-on.. i'll b happy if u could guide me thro the steps , i was kinda scared to install a cooked rom on my HTC diamond2 till now coz while trying to do the same with my HTC touch i bricked my mobile a year back..
and i couldnt find a proper step by guide for doin this.. in every thread regarding the same somebody or the other is getting into problems..
so pls illustrate a proper step by step guide on the procedures of installin a ROM on a factory HTC touch diamond2..
I'll be glad to. what i would then rather do is send you a private message with the steps, so that we don't clutter the forums and have snide comments from senior members about how "easy" it all is. (they ARE right, but i know the first time is scary)
i'm going partying now, but i'll be glad to send you (and any1 else who asks for a private message) step by step instructions tomorrow.
what you can do in the mean time, is have a look at which ROM you think you might want (i'll add my suggestions anyways) here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=486
thanks dude..
thanks for the help dude.. i'll go thro that documents now..
lookin forward to ur message..

Just a quick question about the new Rom Update.
I'm currently waiting for T-Mobile to release there version of the Rom update from version 1.43 to 1.66.
I can get a copy of the 1.66 official Rom Update from the HTC website (my mate has a HTC HD2 which is unbranded).
Could i update my Rom using the download? Would it cause any problems to the phone?
Many thanks.
any noticed anything different?
I have an Uk version on O2 but its not taking my serial... any ideas?
surely I don't have to wait the O2 customised rom?
Does this at all stop the sluggishness and freezing from time to time
O2 and VF both run locked ROMs - the S/Ns need to be cleared by O2/VF/HTC to allow download...
any workarounds? ;-D

For future reference, it tells you the max ROM version that you need the hotfixes for, on the page where you download them.
In this instance, there haven't been any that have had a ROM version higher than 1.66, so no - you don't need them

I haven't found anything noticeable except a lower screen sensitivity and some value added applications.
Before I update my ROM, I read this
"The update will take up to 30 minutes, DO NOT interrupt the update process, make/receive phone calls, disconnect the device from the PC, or press any buttons until the process has been completed."
And wondered how I can stop any incoming calls, messages, mails etc. Should I just put it into airplane mode or something?

Why can't I download another ROM than my country's?

I am from Romania and the 1.66 ROM is (still) not available for my serial number. Why HTC doesn't let me install a WWE version? I can get it from here, I know. I was thinking this one: RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
Is it a good ideea or shoud I wait until they take their time and finally make a ROM for my country?
I want to upgrade so badly because I have a strange problem with the SMS function. When I reply to a message or when I choose a contact from agenda and choose to send SMS to that person then the text I'm writing is very very small, almost unreadable. And it is set on medium size. If I'm trying to write a SMS without choosing an expeditor prior to the typing of the message then the text is normal in size. I have 1.48.479.1(71294)WWE stock ROM.
HTC releases WWE based on region. You have to wait.
I'm also waiting for the rom. Try installing the latest hotfix for the sms problem. If you can't find it, contact me.
The last SMS fix "fixed" me with this problem... I'm looking for a way to remove it but so far nobody knows a way other than reinstalling the ROM.

NOOB help needed

Hi guys,
Just bought the phone. It's clean. I've only installed the hot fixes from HTC official website and that's it.
Here's what I have:
OS Version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
Manila Version: 2.5.19211619.0
ROM Version: 1.48.479.1 (71294) WWE
ROM Date: 11-18-09
Radio Version: 2.06.51.07
Protocol Version: 15.30.50.07U
I have a problem though. I can't seem to be able to get email clients (either outlook or others [gmail, yahoo]) to work with the mobile internet we get from Vodafone - i keep getting this error - Cannot Connect - Cannot Connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings. However, the internet works, I can browse, facebook etc. Can you please let me know if there's a fix for this? It seems to work on WiFi connection!
I would also like to ask, if someone is patient enough, to let me know what applications/roms/radios should I install in order to benefit at max from the phone.
I don't mind if you could send me (on private) links as to where I could download free games and apps.
Many many thanks in advance and I'm sorry for the long post!
All the best,
DH

USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION...
Update your ROM to the latest official one if you are not going to use a custom one.
"Free games" will be price at £/$0 on Windows Markeplace or in OMarket not going to support warez.
you're really not helping. There are hundreds of pages and posts here. That's what HTC said about the ROM, that is the latest for my serial number although there's another one available, it wouldn't let me download it.
No one? Please!!!
Hi Digitalhater.
The latest official ROM for the HD2 is 1.66. This ROM contains all the fixes that have been released. As far as i know, this ROM is now available for all regions.
Download and install.
You can also go the cooked ROM route, there are some brilliant ROM's in the ROM development forum.
For good free games and apps, go to www-freewarepocketpc-net.
Sorry, can't post links yet.
As for your email problem, make sure that you have the correct POP and SMTP servers setup, or else your mail won't connect. You can get this from your IP.
So if you go here:

and put in your serial number it won't let you download? You didn't click on the T-Mobile ROM update by mistake did you?

Are there any specific ones I should look at? Some that you'd recommend?
As well, could you help me with the synchronization error I get for the email?
Many thanks in advance.
Sounds like it's a vendor locked device, you'd need to get in touch with your phone provider and see if they're going to release a ROM. If not, you need to flash the phone with HSPL to install a new ROM
(Just realised I gave you the link to the UK site but checked on the Romanian one and the ROM you're on is the latest for your region)
The first thing I would do is make sure that all the connection information for your log in etc for you email is correct and that you are telling your email to use the internet connection to find email.
Eliminate the simple things first. The answer is not always to flash a new rom although that can help with other stuff later. Walk before you try to run.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. However, how can I check what connection is the email using?
What I find suspicious is that the browsing works with these settings and if I connect to wireless they all work. THank you all in advance!
You're best off asking VF direct as they may have a block on certain mail servers in your region. In the UK I use my Googlemail account just fine over WiFi or contract Internet
worth noting here that many (not all) ISPs only allow sending of email when connected directly to their own network.
A good example is ntlworld email accounts in the UK. You can send and receive over pop and smtp when connected to the ntlworld connection at home, , and you can receive when connected to mobile data, BUT try and send via smtp.ntlworld.com when you are connected to mobile data and it fails.
It is to prevent 'relaying' which used to be a well used spam technique.
If its vodafone your on you can download the Rom from their site here http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/firmwaredevice.php?ModelID=424&e=0
For WVGA games you can get some quite good free ones here http://wvga.pda4you.org/
Enjoy
Thanks a lot to you all. Still haven't managed to fix the email client on vodafone's mobile internet.
another question, is there a way you can have landscape mode on every application for HTC HD 2? or to have the home screen in landscape?
