hey guys, i think i am trying to to install a new rom. what i am trying to do is dual boot wm 6.5 and android, if thats possible, i have tried searching for stuff, but i get not enough info in some places, and too much in others, here are some links to stuff i have found so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733752&highlight=registry+editor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614&highlight=android

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
can anyone help me out with this? its a lot of info for me, and i dont know what to do/ look at
i have read all the newbie and noob posts out there, so dont tell me to go read them
id like someone to tell me exactly what to download and how to run it to effectivly get android running on my device, dual boot if possible, id like to keep wm 6.5 but also have android. id also like to have a back up rom that is completly "stock" unless a hard reset will erase everything and put it back to "stock" incase i need to sell the device, or just go back.
im sure i am missing a few things, so any help would be greatly appreciated, i really need to get this done, because as of right now, i am not to happy with my device with just wm 6.5 and i cant afford to take a loss and sell it back...
i also may be wrong with some of my terminology, so what i understand is with dual booting i can run wm 6.5 just like i have now and use CHT and stuff, or i can run an android UI like the real android devices?
like i said, any help would be greatly appreciated, and i really need to get this accomplished,
thanks,
PBLeonidus
come on, now one knows how to get android running on their device?
please, i need help with this!
also, how or where can i get a registry editor? preferably a .cab file?
dont worry i got it working. thanks for all the help from those that posted! (obviously being sarcastic as no one posted anything)
if any one wants to know, i used max energy Co0kie Energy ROM
with the latest froyo stone android file thing
and a dual booter, ran into a few issues, but got it working

wow, you expect us to solve all your problems in 24 hours, on the weekend no less? How much do you think we are getting paid for this?
Glad you got it figured out. Next time, you could try posting in the regular hd2 section as well, seems to be more traffic there.

So you're bothered by the fact we didn't give you the answers quick enough, to something that you obviously had the ability to work out on your own? That points to the fact you didn't do enough to help yourself, before posting your question...something the rules here specifically address.

i did several hours of searching before i posted this, and after a lot of dead ends and frustration, i posted the question, but i continued to search after i posted, which led me to my answer.
and i dont think you guys get paid anything, i just would have expected at least one person to post something, helpfull or not, i just found it weird that no one said anything, not even "i am interested in this as well" or something like "good luck" that i see in other posts....
There's nothing weird you just don't have enough patience to wait for replies. Anyways, good to see that you actually utilized the search function. There's a dedicated android on hd2 forum here on xda. You should have posted your question there.

We dont. It was sarcasm. Hes saying hes not getting paid to help you, so dont get upset when you dont get an answer... This is the internet. Dont expect things from anyone. Just relax and wait. Sometimes, depending on the question, it can take days, weeks to get an answer. If you need people to hold your hand and wish you luck, try the Disney forum.

haha, very funny, i know it was sarcasm, i just gave a serious answer...
i didnt expect anyone to hold my hand or give me an answer, i just would have thought some one would have something about something, like i said before, a lot of times people say good luck, or id be intersted in this too... i found it weird that no one said anything. i know you guys are mad because you couldnt understand my sarcasm, and that i was able to figure it out for myself. how come when i needed help no one said anything, but now that i have it figured out, you guys rant about me wanting everything handed to me, when thats not the case?
mods, please close thread, i got the problem fixed, and there is no need for this thread anymore...

and i didnt mean anything negative by this, i wasnt mad at anyone, i was just trying to be a little funny by throwing some sarcasm in there...
i am terribly sorry that you guys have no sense of humor and couldnt understand that... i though forums where supposed to be friendly, and people were supposed to be able to say funny and or sarcastic things without somone jumping on their back...
once again, please close thread.
it's all good in here man. We all just get a little bit of newbieitis where the only cure is to lash out at the newbs.
There is a lot to learn on this forum and by the time you learn it all, your device is out of date.
It seems you wanted to figure it all out in a night. Been using WinMo for about 2-3years now and I still don't have a clue most of the time.
pbleonidus, if that comment was just tongue-in-cheek, then it's all good, no harm no foul. Those types of comments are near-impossible to tell the difference between light-hearted and just disrespectful....and believe me, we get FAR more of the latter type in here...and that does tend to strike a bit of a raw nerve with those here who go to a lot of effort to help others.
So, a lesson in this for all of us: you're apparently not the type of snarky jerk that we run across so often, and we're not always able to generate answers as quickly as you might expect. Cool? Cool.
I'll get this thread closed for you.

This is definetly not the right forum.
Really? Are you serious?
You can charge while the phone is of, this is not your problem.
Just charge if its dead and reflash whatever you were flashing in magldr/clockwork.
If there is no way to charge the battery in phone you could try to buy a dockingstation with the option to charge an additional battery.
Wrong forum

You know i always have seen people saying what i said now and i blamed them in my mind for doing this... "They can be more kind and polite!!" But you! I couldn't resist it!!! Sorry maybe it's my bad day!!!
Charge the battery in one of your friends' HD2!

I suggest you get a cheap hd2 charger, if its a tmous hd2, then get the extra battery this one comes with a battery in a charger device. or another way would to buy a dock/charger and charge it from there, sorry about your loss, I hope to be of assistance.

hey! The guy is right! HD2 won't charge when it's completely discharged if MAGLDR is installed on it!! I was very-very surprised with this thing. Try Install MAGLDR, turn your HD2 off and connect charger. It won't charge, it won't turn on, even when you disconnect your charger the light will lit until you remove battery.
Is it just me and the author or everyone?
The bootloader hint is useful, but what to do if HD2 is completely discharged and doesn't want to turn on?

If everything else fails I would remove the batt, reinsert the batt with charger on and press volume down and power key and flash a winmo rom. in other words I would start from scratch with winmo phone.......

Attach the data cable to your comp and device and see what happens. I also do know that when the battery is fully discharged it takes some minutes on the charger before the battery can build enough charge to boot. Or maybe try flashing a winmo rom from the bootloader? I would try that and if winmo is installed wait for battery to charge to 100% and then install Magdlr and android nand afresh. All the best......
Hey Gen8 Community,
I am wild about Lenn. He destroyed my Archos 43 with installing Urukdroid!
I still can't believe it! He destroyed my Archos 43 (Grrr). I ask him if he can install Urukdroid on my Archos 43.... He said: ,, Oh yes that's easy". Some minutes later he said ok done! I wanted to start it and I just got a blackscreen. When you hit the Powerbutton the light turn into green but the screen will be still black. The batteries are full. So I'm asking you, what can I do now? If you want, I can record a video of this.
edit He doesn't know how to fix!
And sorry for my bad english it's because I'm upset.
And Lenn you suck (sorry xda community for this, but I'm wild about that ****ing Lenn)
And I hope you can understand me!
congratulations
ahhhhhhh hahahahaha.....
how funny you are.... not smart enough to do it yourself and then mokking at others who helped you doing what you want.
that was bad luck and could happen by doing yourself, too.

About the original "contributor" who told him he could use Uruk on his device, the least someone who recommends someone else to use a custom ROM is to do his best to help him to recover his original environment, or to recover a functional system.
I contribute more in the Galaxy tab and android-x86 forums, and when I'm not 100% sure if a custom ROM can work on the SGT or any other devices, I'll never recommend anyone to flash one on it. If I do recommend one, then I'll never leave him alone and will do the best to help...

Yes I understant the problem u got with those contributions - but hey - sry but this thread is not worth commending on it usefull imho...
This guy has a "bricked" archos - ok
Someone talked him into - well - seemed he agreed with that before
He opened a thread here - thats fine - but READ THE TITLE AGAIN
HE DOESN'T WANT HELP imho - most of this post is for ragin and marking Lenn,... I don't think there is space for this in this forum.
The things he typed in red and extrax large are NOT "help me please - how can i unbrick" - but just for harrasment
Anyway - anyone has to learn on his own way - if u agree with someone doing something to you device - perhaps ask about the background next time...
ALL THE THING WICH ARE DONE HERE ARE WITHOUT WARRENTY - AND ITS ALWAYS SAID U VOID YOU WARRENTY AND MAY BRICK YOUR DEVICE WITH THOSE - you could have known this after a secound reading here... and since u are registerd sicne march - u should know...
EDIT: regarding your post history u got UD up and running since march so u know what u have. And another cite
ArchosRocker: I use urukdroid atm because its the best and i test things with lenn for $auron , but if honeycomb for android is coming i take it then (i think) ;-) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13782656&postcount=12)
(anyway as said before: Urukdroid normaly can't brick a device - perhaps flashing SDE can since there are changes to boot menu... I dont know)
I don't know what he told u before or not - AND I DON'T WANT TO KNOW IT.
If u got a personal problem with someone TALK to HIM and don't use the internet for spamming other pll about personal differences.
GROW UP
If u rly would like to have help open a PROPPER thread and STOP the flamewar.

Sorry, but people should read before doing anything to their device. If I'm not sure about something, simple...I don't mess with my phone. At least you need to read 3 to 4 pages in the thread and look for what works and what not. Everyone is old enough to do this and neither a member or any other person is responsible of your device rather than you, simple as that. We do not spoon feed NO ONE, this is XDA DEVELOPERS, remember the last word .
Ive never been this frustrated in trying to find how to guides before. Damn it Im just trying to figure out how to install MIUI on my bell sgs2 stock ugkg2 2.3.3 phone. Do I need to update my firmware first and if so with which one since there isnt a bell sgs2 update yet and once i download this firmaware, how the heck to I extract it since they have a password and samsung-firmwares.com does not work for password. /end rant
First you need a rooted kernel which you have to flash with odin. Either cf-root or hellcats or nimph kernel. The first thing after using are rooted is to BACKUP YOUR EFS FOLDER! Then boot into cwm and install MIUI zip from there.
There is a QA thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238494
For guide on how to flash the kernel have a look in cf-root kernel thread. For easy efs backup use hellcats application or manually do it, with the instructions in the relevant thread.

That's because, as you said, you are a bloody noob. If you would have spent more than 20 seconds looking, you would have either find the password (even with google, the first result has it), either the thread explaining how to install it.

Unfortunately its true driven mainly by users who wont search and fail to read instructions and want it all handed to them on a plate with repetitions of the same questions day after day .
I see no way around this problem as FAQS etc and rules are not read so the genuine user who asks a question as you did gets treated as if they could not be bothered to search read etc .It is partly due to the number of twelve year olds with Smartphones .

The problem Im having is first Im clueless in regards to android phones and 2nd lots of the information Ive been able to find in regards to rooting/upgrading firmware/updating roms are conflicting so that makes me insecure (I dont wanna brick my phone) 3rd I havnt been able to find...so far...explicit information that enables me to download and extract firmware with password for my bell ugkg2 SGS2.
Looks like Im gonna stick with stock till I can find a guide that goes through all the loops that a canadian bell user like me has to go through to upgrade firmware to 2.3.4 and upgrade to the latest MIUI.....

As a fellow Canadian and a fellow user of the Samsung Galaxy S2 from Bell, I know these phones inside and out due to hours and hours and hours and hours and weeks and days and more hours and more hours and more hours......of research. I have no problem helping you out unlike that other character who is too much of a prick to help anybody out. Let me know if you still need my help. I don't mind taking you under my wing and showing you the ropes of our beasts and the wonderful world of Android.

Bro, if you want MIUI you have to do TWO simple simple things from your stock bell state
go look for cfroot kernel thread (ill try to find it and link it for you) use the ones for kG2 firmware, this will root your phone and install CWM (the recovery needed to flash custom roms) this will root your phone on the bell firmware no stock required!
once this is done, download the latest miui zip, put on phone sd. boot into recovery and flash that mofo
You actually dont need stock/ kg6 at all to flash custom roms, but it is nice to learn how to use it for the sake of going back to stock!
I'm not changing my mind. They can take all noobs under their wings, but when I see incompetent idiots like you, I can't control myself. The password is on the same download page you got the file from, and I've already told you. You're here because you're bored, and you want attention, and you spent less than one minute searching for your answer. I know I am aggressive sometimes, but I do help people who put in some effort for something they want. I am also a beginner, so I'm not patronizing you, but what you failed to achieve has nothing to do with android at all. Now stop being a moron and creating a drama.

I understand you, but you shouldnt be this agressive. You could ignore this or just tell him to read the faq at samfirmwares. Just my opinion.
Daniel, posts like yours looks like spam as there is tons of posts asking for the same thing over and over. Try to read a bit more, start with the faqs.

I sort of have to agree with you minus the aggressive attitude. If you can't answer normally then simply don't answer. You're not only making yourself look like a F*cking idiot to about everyone that reads on these forums, but you are also making the community look bad and there are quite a few wonderful people on these boards.
On a side note, I am a newbie to when it comes to android systems (btw there is a difference between a Noob and Newbie, to bad most people don't remember that) but I did manage to root my phone and figure out how to install stock roms and other roms, within 15 minutes of searching. There are plenty of guides here on XDA telling you what flashing is, what roms are, what kernals are, what odin is for, what root system to use (CF-Root) etc.
Its not that hard, so i do agree with you on that.

And I agree 110% with TheSaw - the OP wants spoonfeeding and has the cheek to "rant" about it. "Spending weeks searching"!!?? Oh behave...

<PSA>
Newbie: Someone new to something, just starting out, learning.
Noob: Someone whos been around for a while and just wont learn, someone who needs spoon feeding, someone who doesnt want to help themselves.
We are all Newbies at some point, some get better, others turn into noobs.
</PSA>
Okay, I apologize for my aggressive behavior. I did however help him in my first post after ranting. And yes, I do know the difference between "noob" and "newbie", and I give him credit for correctly categorizing himself in the "noob" group in his thread's title. And on that note... it's common sense and forum rules not to create threads with titles like this. I'm just really not patient with people, sorry
Over and out, carry on without me.

So, here's the screenshot of my WLD for kernal wakelocks.
Don't count deep sleep in this, as I reboot my phone every morning as a temporary solution. But finally thought of making this thread after having so low battery life.
Whenever I connect my USB to computer for charging or AC Charger, the wakelock starts. Yes I have read so many threads about the same problem, but what I have seen is, it can be completely removed by using custom kernals, roms etc.
I'm a very normal user till now, with no knowledge on how to root, use custom roms, or flash kernals or w/e. I am a simple nexus 4 user with stock android which I absolutely love, but I hate the fact that Google haven't given a crucial update about this problem and left the customers of their stock android with no solution other than just reboot as a temporary fix.
So, anyone there help me out please to how to correct this problem in stock android ? I have already tried reset, and though it did help for first few days, but eventually the problem comes back again.
Please don't tell me to learn rooting, and other stuff. Yes, when the times come , I sure will get to know alot about these things, but I'm busy with my real life for now and would really like to stop this problem for the time being, till I learn the upper level stuff.
Please don't reply me saying what apps I use and stuff, I'm a n00b I know, but now of that level who doesn't know anything. I know the apps isn't causing this, it's the USB connector and sometimes the 3G ( which I use rarely these days now just because of this problem. )
Thanks in advance for helping a n00b out here. :highfive:
If you don't want to put time in getting to know android. You will never fix wake locks. They will keep coming (I had 3 different ones in the first 3 weeks I got my N4).
Fixing wake locks will only have result if you look into it.
Telling that you won't even bother to is not working either way.

Good comment, thanks for the reply/
Now, I already said on my first post that, yes I will be learning android soon, but not right now or for atleast couple of months as I don't have time in my real life. I have gotten couple of wake locks too, but all can be resolved easily except the one caused by USB. I trust Google, and that was my primary reason to buy a Nexus 4. If you want to say that this error can only be removed by custom kernals and whatnot, so that means 80% of people will be facing this problem. ( not counting the 20% of people that are either devs or just want to customise their nexus 4 ).
So, google will not care abt those people ? Nice. Great! I don't want to learn how to flash custom kernals, and I can't resolve the problems Nexus 4 has. Awesome.

Man, Please don't reply with those silly links. I have already said in my first post that I have read many many threads about it by using the search function. My problem is not exactly the same mentioned in that thread.Either way, I have read enough and I want a fix which can be done on stock android and not customized one. Either by Google or by devs here who can suggest something regarding this.
I was too soon with my judgement then.
To be honest. I think 80% of the people with N4's have wake locks. Only they don't look into battery drains and the other signs.
I had a HTC Desire HD for 2 years and had only 2 or 3 wake locks in that time.
The N4 is much more sensitive to wake locks in my opinion. Maybe it has to do with the newer android version. That I don't know.

Well, in that case, I think you don't even know how to read, because the answer is already there on the "Android OS" wakelock as I said. If you want magical and quick answers, guess what?, there are none. You came here asking for help, we answered according what we think are good answers, but if you think this is silly, then keep your phone like that; at the end, you are the one with the problem, not us.
You want fixes and answers without making anything, so how do you expect to find a solution to your problem?.
And one more thing, I don't know if you haven't noticed, but this is not Google, so doubtfully you will get an answer from them.

Funny you directed your message by saying "we" ... guess it's time for facepalm. Other thing, you linked, no that is not my problem dude. I have already mentioned this in IRC too and got appropriate response. Custom kernal is only solution for this, so I'll be learning that. The one you gave, is related to excessive data usage via location settings which is clearly not my problem.
He is right by saying we. He meant the people who responded to your thread.
The way you answer to him is not going to motivate people to get you a solution either. Welcome on XDA

When I say "We", I mean the XDA community and the people who responded to your question. No need to check the grammar and syntax of an answer when you want a solution.

It seems that you are kind of "slow learning", so I will say to you why the thread could help you if you would make a proper reading. The image you posted clearly states what the problem is, it is called "msm_hsic_host" wakelock. The most probable thing is that you don't even know what is this, because of the childish and noobish behavior you have.
So, in the thread I gave you, as I said before, I give solution to 2 problems; the first one is related to Google Services battery drain, and the second one is to Android OS battery drain. Anyway the your problem is the second one, and in the first post, you can see something like this:
= = = = = = =
Android System Battery Drain
About Android System battery drains, I have found 2 posts that could help of people who made tests and possibly resolved the issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44537106&postcount=7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44541018&postcount=5
= = = = = = =
No hard to find, if you at least read the whole post once. So, in case you already read and search many forums and thread, which I doubtfully believe, you can see there are tons of threats regarding this. The answer to most of this wakelocks, is not the kernel, but it is the radio. Kernel doesn't care in most situations when the problem is radio and signal.
I hope you can at least read those two to find that those are your problem. The answer was always there, but again, people is lazy and want magical solutions because "You are busy with your real life for now and you would really like to stop this problem for the time being, till you learn the upper level stuff.".

I never talk about excessive data usage via location settings. Such a thing doesn't exist. I don't know where you read that. One more time, you are showing you don't read nor search anything.
