Heres a thought.... Why not learn how to do something simple as getting into download mode and using ODIN. WHY must you post the SAME THREAD 3 TIMES in 3 different sections of the VIBRANT FORUM. You're asking to get the ban hammer.

If you have access to a windows computer, you could put it into download mode, and flash the factory rom via odin. Look at the rom sticky in this section. To put into download mode, pull the battery, put back in, hold down up and down volume keys and then plug in the usb.

go here follow simple step directions and done.
Then reroot and go here for some reliable kick in the nuts kernels that will have your vibrant smokin.

Go to that link. Download the files. Open odin, and follow the instructions. If you use windows vista or windows 7, open odin by right clicking and run as administrator. You need to be in download mode for odin to be able to flash the stock rom. To get into download mode, follow my previous instructions. When you are in download mode you will see a yellow triangle with the android digging some dirt. Good luck. If still unsure search this forum for threads about odin and download mode.

ok guys, i have unbricked my vibrant before after the OTA update about 5 weeks ago. i am pretty new at this smart phone stuff, but was pleasantly surprised i was able to get odin to fix the brick. about an hour ago i launched the stupid VooDoo in the OCLF app and the phone now will go as far as the animated galaxy "S", then go blank. i attempted the Odin flash about 5 times now with the same result each time, just boots up past the vibrant screen to galaxy S then goes blank. when the phone restarts or reboots after the odin flash a message in red reads DATA WIPE FAILED between a few yellow text lines. when i try to reinstall packages through boot screen i get the same message i got after the OTA brick, E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip now the phone was rooted with the OCLF before i launched VooDoo. can somebody help me out?!?
Odin back to stock. That should fix it.

Anybody else have an suggestions?? like i said in OP i have tried to flash back to stock, about 5-6 times now, all with the same result. phone goes blank after galaxy S screen and music. thanks
As mentioned in a million threads, you need to flash Eugene's "froyo that doesn't brick." Then flash whatever firmware you want.
flashed the froyo successfully from eugene. cool set up, major issue though, i have no application storage now. there are a ton of apps in manage apps and i cannot uninstall any of them. can i fix this somehow??
i'm going to try flashing froyo back in it so it works, not select repartition. then restart odin, select repartition and flash the old vj12 rar and see if that works
Never seemed to get the answer to this. What is the purpose of "Eugene's froyo that doesn't brick?"
Why do some people suggest flashing that, before they odin?
Did eugene take everything down from xda, I can't even find that anymore.
i actually found what i though was the froyo that doesn't brick but it was actually his jk2 version. i clicked Eugene's link on one of his posts and it took me to his site and thats were i got it. i did some searching and actually found the "froyo that doesn't brick", it fixed my baby! i couldn't do anything once flashed but i was then able to flash back to jdf then j16 and all is well. i have flashed like 10 roms into her since this weekend with success, i am back to running j16 with some extras as the games i play don't support 2.2

When i'm in download mode, it doesn't recognize it. When i'm in recovery mode, Odin recognizes it. If i turn my phone on and plug it in, my pc recognizes it, drivers are ok.
Any answers, i could really use the help
what version of Odin are you running? not that it should matter. try pulling the batt, hold volume up and down, insert batt while volume buttons are pressed then plug in USB and wait for it to go into download mode then release buttons. see if Odin recognizes it then.
try a different cable too if above doesn't work
Turn your phone off open odin hold down volume up and down, now plug in the usb this will get you into dl mode now you need to flash Froyo ~~~That does not Brick! rom with odin. Right after you flash that get back into download mode open odin first then with the phone ( power the phone off give it a min, hold down the volume up and down keys, now insert the usb cord BAM download mode) flash back to whatever rom you want.

Simple problem, you used a .tar file in odin that didn't have the DBDATA in it.
download the JFD tar, open it up, make sure it has DBDATA in it, then re-odin, and you will be fine.

*Assuming that you want to return to the current official build used by sprint which is at this moment DI18*
*Assuming your phone can power up at all (if it doesn't there's a trick you can try for that mentioned elsewhere in the forums)*
*Only use main/direct-to-motherboard USB slot on PC (not on the face of your PC)*
*Only use high quality USB cable shorter than 3' and not the stock cable*
*Make sure SAMSUNG USB drivers are Installed*
*Make sure your battery is more than 50% charged*
1. SD Card is REMOVED, USB is UNPLUGGED and Battery is REMOVED from phone
2. While Phone is UNPLUGGED from USB, place battery in phone
3. Press and Hold the "1" key and Power button together to reach Download Mode
*KEEP USB UNPLUGGED FROM PHONE and phone in Download Mode*
4. Extract and Run Odin3.exe (Ignore the .pit file included in Odin3+v1.61andepic.pit.zip)
*Leave the "PIT" selection empty*
5. In Odin Uncheck "F. Reset Time", make sure "Auto Reboot" is the only box checked
6. In Odin click PDA and select your .Md5 file (SPH-D700-DI18-8Gb-REL.tar.md5)
7. Plug USB in PHONE and wait for yellow COM box highlight to appear in Odin
8. In Odin Press Start and WAIT patiently

I really shouldnt have screwed with odin while tired and pissed. Lost clockwork mod and tried again. Now im stuck with a paperweight that can go into download mode or boot to a screen that shows an old flip phone triangle with an exclamation mark and a pc/laptop. If anyone knows what that means, please post
I've reached that screen 3 times and twice I've been able to get my phone back out of it (not something I'm exactly proud of).
try:
1. Remove sd card and battery and unplug USB
2. While first holding 1+Power button, re-insert the battery
and if that doesn't work try it with the USB first plugged in.
next try
1. remove battery and sd card
2. insert USB
3. press and hold down vol up + vol down (not power) and Replace battery
next try
1. remove battery sd card
2. plug in USB
3. re-insert battery
4. hold power + vol down only
and lastly try
calling sprint or samsung repair as applicable and plead complete ignorance as to how it happened and any knowledge of smart phones and android beyond what's in the basic user manual. Say something like "It was like that when I woke up"
that seems to be the certain solution for this problem from what I've read.
I see ur problem rename ur .tar.md5 file to just .tar you might have to enable extensions to be seen. I don't remember how I did it but I remember googling something like how to enable file extensions. If you successfully rename it you will get a warning and just click ok on it or whatever enables you to change the extension.then use that file in odin.

Its really wierd, when i leave the phone something happens even when it is off. is there anyway to restore from the original recovery. Is there anyway to mount an sdcard without loading the phone. I dont have clockwork, but i have an update.zip file on my sd and i want to see if it will load anything. Unfortunately i took it out under the directions of someone else and the phone wont remount it. I was wondering if there is a way to trick the phone to remount it allowing to do the update via stock recovery
I'm sure that would be possible via adb...but I'm not well versed in that lol

I have managed to read and understand all the replies around this matter. The only problem is that I dont know how to go to Download Mode
from off, hold down the volume down button, then hold down the power button.
When you get the android with a shovel, that is download mode.
EDIT: wait! how did you managed to repartition the tab if you never had download mode before?

Oops. Didn't realise that you can't get to download mode.
Not much chance to use Odin.
Try look for OneClickUnbrick method.
Edit: you have forced it off before? Push the power for more than 10 seconds or longer. That should turned it off.
Try to turn it on again and see any sign of life.

I connected the TAB, and it says its connected via ODIN. But when I start the operation, it says "SetupConnection.." and it stays like this until I disconnect it again. It doesnt install anything ... :S
Reinstall the USB driver that comes with GB stock safe package.

You should try another version of ODIN, V1.61 has never failed to me
If you are under Win8 make sure to install USB Drivers as Administrator
