guys
when one creates a new contact, it automatically links to two profiles by default - phone contacts and google
Is it possible to create a new contact and link it to Outlook rather so that it shows up in my corporate email address book too?
My sync for corporate email is turned on and when I create a new contact in outlook, it shows up on my phone but the reverse does not work
Thanks

hi guys,
having an issue where bulk of my email is synced to the outlook email account on the univ. Which is fine. but on the move I want to check for new mail, only way I found is to add a new pop3 account. which then proceeds to download all 130 emails for that day that already exist in the outlook folder, and the 4 new ones! takes ages and a pain, anything I send from the new account on the univ is also not synced to the pc, which is only syncing the outlook folder. basically I just want to add a pop server to the standard syncronising outlook email folder, to add mail to it on the go.
Any one cracked this???
Greg.
Nothing to crack..... be sure you are correctly setup!

indeed i think it's setup issue. i'm running one outlook mailbox via an [email protected] and three pop3 [email protected] and they all sync just fine, automated via gprs and just what's new and not yet brought to the home or work desktop.
i know this doesn't help you much, maybe you can send some more info in how you try to setup your system
THanks for the replies so far. The only way I have found to enter pop settings is to create a new account, where I then end up with one account no pop but synced, the second account no sync but pop - both pulling the same mail.
Or maybe my question should be, how do you add pop/smtp server information to the default (created when I synced) Outlook Email account?
Greg.
greg123, I had exactly the same issue with my XDA II. Does your organisation use Exchange 2003? If so, and they are patched up to SP2, then your solution would be to use push email which comes in the latest firmware upgrade for the Universal (from most providers).
If they don't use Exchange 2003, or won't upgrade to SP2 (or won't configure push email) there are some cheap external companies who will provide the service for you. You then simply need to setup an account with them and they will sync email to your phone. I don't know if they do this with a different account or not though.
I use push email and it all works from the same account. when I am docked it syncs over the lan, and when I'm mobile it syncs over the web.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
No I'm not using exchange or push or anything that complicated, I simply connected my xda to the pc and let it sync. After which I find all my email in the 'outlook email' section, along with mms and text messages on the phone.
All I want to do is when I'm out be able to drag new emails into that 'outlook email' section via pop. But I see no option to do this. I have to create a new account, add the pop settings to this account, and then send receive on that. Which then results in having to download all my mail (even the old stuff) on the 2nd 'new' account, most of which is already contained in the 'outlook email' account.
I just want to add a pop server to the default account that is created to house your synced email from the pc!

Anyone use the online address book feature of the messaging program? I want my contacts from my different email sources. I could type them into outlook but would prefer something more automatic. Open up a messaging account like Gmail then choose menu - tools - options. Then the 3rd tab is address. Try to add an address book. Thanks
I had seen some tool, can't remember name!
It's allow to synchronize your contacts with internet!
So you can easy recover all your data, even if you PC will be formated

I think I am asking the question wrong. What I was hoping to do was to use my contacts I have on gmail or yahoo. When I type an email on my phone the only contacts I can pull up are the ones in my contacts under outlook.
Now I could copy the email accounts but the nice feature of Yahoo and Gmail (and many other email accounts) is that they will automatically add new addresses.
Now back to my original question. On our phone is a place to put a server address for an online address book. Anyone use this feature to tap into either yahoo or gmail address book?
Thanks
Hi,
Summary: I used Google sync without thinking, ending up with a mixture of e-mail contacts and phone contacts on my phone and on gmail. Could use some help separating them again.

I have synchronised my X10 contact list with the Sony Ericsson sync service (website).
I also have a gmail account. Some days ago I added my computer's e-mail address book to that account.
Yesterday I decided to sync my phone with gmail (by selecting the following on the phone: settings - data sync - google sync). I simply wanted to upload my phone's contact list to gmail. I didn't consider that ALL my e-mail contacts would be added to the phone. I don't need those there...
So, any advice on how to get rid of all the e-mail contacts that google added to my phone?
At the moment, my complete contact list (the one I would like to maintain) exists at SE sync service.
In gmail's contact list, I can select all the e-mail contacts, and probably delete them. However, gmail's list only contains 60% of the contacts that were originally on my phone (of course I would like to keep 100%).
I am thinking about deleting all contacts from gmail and from the phone, and downloading them from SE sync service. Does that work they way I'm hoping? I'm a bit worried about losing my phone contacts from SE sync service.
Any advice?
Also, is there a way to set up gmail contact list so that the phone's contacts stay in one folder, while e-mail contacts stay in another folder?
(I do have some "phone contacts" with e-mail addresses, some "e-mail contacts" with phone numbers, etc, which might complicate things.)

If you go to Phonebook>Menu (left button)>Display group (or something similar)>Contacts with phonenumber , then all contacts without a nummer will be hidden.

Thanks for the tip... However, I do have some "phone contacts" with e-mail addresses, some "e-mail contacts" with phone numbers. I don't need all those contacts twice.

Merging these contacts on gmail.com>contacts using your computer would be the easiest and fastest thing to do I guess.
Or make a new group in the gmail contacts and transfer all your phonecontacts to that group, then let the x10 only show the contacts in the new group.
trying to help my mom who got a focus. i have android and a noob with wp7...any guidance greatly appreciated.
1. Email Account and their respective address books
Dad set his yahoo and pop emails up on her phone as well but none of his saved email address book seems to be there.
When sending and email and clicking TO: to choose from address book none of his contacts are there.....is it possible to have your address book for the email account available without having all the contacts populated to the PEOPLE hub (they don't want).
2. Windows live Account. Mom setup a windows live account for the primary and had no contacts in it as it was a new account. All of her contacts that she wanted to be in the People Hub came from her sim card.
Can my dads Live account be added as a secondary in a manner that will not cause all of his windows live contacts to populate her People Hub contacts on the phone?
I had the same issue. I decided to go to each of the sites on my computer and export all the information I wanted. I then went to my live account and imported all the info I wanted. Now, I use Live for all my contacts, calendar, and my main Gmail account for all my email needs. Since Live is the Main account, when I email from Gmail, I also get my Live contacts to show.
I also set up Live in Outlook on my PC, so my contacts and calendar sync automatically.
On my Nexus 6P's Google Contacts, there's a "ME" Contact.
Is there anyway to sync or link it to my own personal contact details?
If you already have a contact entry for yourself with your email address in it, then adding your email address to the Me contact should link/join the two together.
I do but it doesn't work for some reason
There is no way to sync it. I've been sending feedback about it for years.
does this affect the image on the phone's user profile as well?
try this:
put your gmail into 'me' contact, link this local contact with your g+ profile. Eventually, open g+/settings/yourgmail/contact switch on contact access.
thanks! will this affect the User Account on my phone as well?
If you turned on the contact optionin Google+ it will sync that photo across devices. But one you chose from the device should only be usable on the device itself. But correct me if I'm wrong here.
