Browser loading on reboot? - Fascinate General

I've got something weird going on with my Fascinate. Every time I reboot it, the first time I unlock the screen, it asks me to choose a web browser, as if I had clicked a link or something. I go back and forth between several browsers, so I don't have a default set. Most of the time I just hit my back button to clear it, but a couple of times I've chosen different browsers, and strangely, the browser does not open, and nothing happens at all, at least not visibly.
Anyone got any ideas as to how I can figure out what is trying to access a browser on first boot? Oh, almost forgot, I'm rooted, running stock ROM (fully de-Binged), stock kernel, no Voodoo.

Bump. Anybody?

If it were on a computer running an os like windows I'd call virus or adware on that one
Edit: you could try something like startup auditor to figure out what it might be.
SCH-I500 - DJ05/SuperClean/StupidFast Test/Darkstar

If I were on Windows with this problem, I'd have it figured out and dealt with ages ago, as I know pretty much every hiding place there is for startup apps.
Unfortunately I'm not nearly as familiar with Android, or any Linux-based platform. Looks like I'll have to check out a startup analyzer, and possibly get more familiar than I'd prefer. Oh, and just FYI, I have the Lookout app running on my phone, and it hasn't deemed any apps as troublemakers yet, for whatever that's worth.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

That does help but still..something like startup auditor could help you if something got past lookout. Couldn't hurt to try. If all else fails ti backup and reload
SCH-I500 - DJ05/SuperClean .7/Nemesis OTB 1200lv/Voodoo5/Darkstar

Well, good news and bad news. The bad news is that Startup Auditor didn't help me figure this out. The good news is, I figured it out anyway.
I won't bore you with the details of how I figured it out, but just FYI, this was caused by what appears to be a bug in the skin I'm currently using for Better Keyboard. It seems to be trying to launch a link to something in the Market every time the skin gets activated, which of course happens on boot.
I'm planning on emailing the developer and asking them to please fix it ASAP. I see there's several people posting comments on the skin app in the Market that are complaining about the same thing.

Glad you got it fixed!

Internet browser keeps closing after 2.2 OTA leak

So a lot of pages just close when I open them. I installed the 2.2 leak last night and didn't have much time to pay with it until today. It seems to me any web page with Any flash content at all is making this happen

This does not appear to be a leaked OTA, since was not intended for publishing. If it were a leaked OTA, it would install on non-rooted devices with no problem. This is probably a later stage test rom. If it were not, the actual OTA would have been leaked as well and not just one that requires multiple steps and no radio to go with it.

this is just a guess, but maybe you used titanium backup and restored system settings that are causing force closes
OP, in the browser settings disable the plugins and see if it crashes when you goto those sites. I was having this issue and no I didn't have to hard reset to fix it. Basically the issue was Flash 10.1 for me. I had the modified flash apk installed for 2.1 and when I updated to 2.2 it messed something up. To fix this open up titanium, choose backup/restore click on adobe flash and choose uninstall. Now reboot your device and renable the plugin in the browser you should be all set now.
I'm also getting FC's in the browser. This is with plugins disabled, cleared cache, history, cookies, etc... And I didn't restore via Titanium. I can browse for a few minutes and then a FC...
Ctinsley, you are the man. I followed exactly what you said and now no more internet explorer crashing. Once again you rock!

Which LagFix to use...

...there are several lag fixes out there now. Which one would be the best/safest to use???
edit: I have a stock rooted vibrant.
RyanZA without a doubt, one click. Get USB drivers. easy to do and easy to undo.

No offense, my friend, but spamming the forums everywhere with the same info in all caps is just a bit obnoxious. I mean, do what you want, but expect people to be annoyed.
read my post on RyanZA fix in batch file. tried V1 and V2.3, both have bugs.
This fix was stable for me, but there is a catch too. the limit for app data storage is 130mb, will you ever go over, i dont know. i didnt yet.

I tried RyanZA's 2-3 batch file fix and I'm not having any problems...to which bugs are you referring?
The bug I’m aware of happens with apps that store data (such as texture) on the sd card outside of the new partition. Some games such as Asphalt 5, Homerun Battle 3d, heavy Gunner, maps... This is a problem with all the lags fixes. If you don't use those apps or apps like that it probably won't affect you.
For instance the load times for Homerun Battle were three times longer on start up, if it started up. I had several times where my phone just shut off. If it eventfully did start it would run fine. Chainfire talks about the bug in his thread found here.

Played around with maps, gps on/off, zillow app., switching back and forth and phone froze on Alpha 1 as well as 2.3. Also this is a know issue and I got it too, on 2.3 I was not able to change fonts. And I hate default font
When i use RyanZA lagfix it works but when i reboot the phone everything gets screwed up anyone have this problem itll take ages to boot up and when it does alot of force closes and widgets outta place etc
Use chainfire. I believe it may be the safest, easily the most automatic one.

Does anybody know what this is? I was checking what has used my battery in the settings menu and this showed up as having used 3%. I have no idea what it is....... Running JT's super clean ROM and stock kernel.

Compass. I learned that because catch.com "compass" would not let it go after closing the app it left the process hanging at 60% till reboot.
The full process name is /system/bin/sensorserver_yamaha
Edit: More definitive answer in capture.
good day.
Thank you, chopper - is this something that is normally supposed to be running? I never remember seeing it before - is there any way to close it or is it an essential function?

yes, it's normal and essential
it facilitates orientation/screen rotation

Yeah, that is it. I always delete that file so it doesn't run all the time in the background.
It's happening to me in past 2 days. Never seen it before.
I had no idea what this is and what it's doing.
It starts happening to me after I did the lagfix.

i think the dm (device manager) server must be wonky lately. This service starts up by default, but is usually invisible (except when you check what services are runnin), but lately i have seen a notification icon on the notification bar saying that it is trying to connect.
Dunno what it does. Probably sends demographic and activity info back to t-mobile and google
easy. tmobile is obviously testing for device responses to the dm server so that they know how many vibrant users there are. this will determine the length of time between the beginning of mass froyo release and the end of the rollout.
damn. now "rollout" by ludacris is stuck in my head lol
Yea Device Management(DM) is used to push updates to Tmo's android phones. I've also seen it been used by tech support to manually push the update or reboot the phone(Back when I had the Behold II).
I would have thought the rom makers would have removed them from their images.
But gallagherm1993's idea sounds reasonable, but I would say if you aren't seeing these things(Like myself) dont worry bout it. For the curious, you can use AnyCut to access DM's interface, and force an update check, but unless its been marked ready for your IMEI, it wont work.

What's the reason for battery pulls on the evo 4g?

My 4g constantly requires a battery pull once a day, this is my 4th evo and all of them are the same. evo freees, have the pull battery to get it back working again, getting tired of it and it's not rooted.
What's the cause for this and why haven't htc produced a fix?
Also I'm thinking of picking up something else cheap and selling my evo, Motorolla photon or htc evo design? what's a better be?
What's the resale value of my evo 4 g/ 120?
Are you updated with the latest OTA? Have you done a factory reset recently?
Yes, all my evos freeze.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA
I would try rooting it and flashing a good, solid ROM like MikG 3.11.
Sent from my PC36100 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
I had 3.0 and it frooze too, it's either all the evos freeze or its a program I'm running.
Can someone comment of the other phones?
It's something your doing, because the EVO 4G has been around almost 2 years and never heard of anyone having that problem before. And even if someone did have that problem on 1 phone, it wouldn't happen on a 2nd, let alone 4.
So I highly doubt changing to a different phone will help you at all.
Mine freezes occasionally, usually when I'm impatient and try to do a bunch of stuff right after it boots up and is still loading. Other than that, no freezes or other problems. It could be an app that you always have installed, maybe you should try factory resetting and see if it still does it. If it doesn't, slowly reinstall your apps until it does, then you'll be able to narrow down the problem more easily.

That being said the EVO Design 4G is a nice handset, my brother has one...with little rooting or 3rd party ROM support as of yet...I don't think there's even a forum for it on XDA.
Only time my phones freeze is when I try to do something right after boot b4 the media scanner finishes running or when I try to push the clockspeed past its limits just to see what will happen like the time I clocked the evo to 1.6 and it would freeze the bootani and need to be restored or on the et4g I tried clocking it to 2ghz and it would boot but then go to sleep of death once the screen goes off gotta pull the battery to turn it back on
Yeah, I've had my Evo since launch day, and the only time I have to do battery pulls is when I've tried clocking too high, or running a really experimental ROM.
The problem is on your end, I would say. Good luck. There's already good advice posted here.

More than likely in your case its an errant app causing freezes maybe something sideloaded from a 3rd party market that's not compatible with your device or some kind of mod or tweak you've used

If he's unrooted/stock, I don't think there are many apps/mods that would cause this kinda behavior.
Sent from my PC36100 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
There are tons of apps and mods you can use unrooted, you can sideload apps on any rom by checking the unknown sources box and downloading and app from the internet and installing it even if it isn't mean for your device, and there are many mods you can do to unrooted devices such as 3rd party launchers, some scripts that can be run that don't require root, changing the SD read ahead cache, setting up profiles for CPU clockspeeds in apps such as setcpu or something similar, plus he mentioned he wasn't rooted then said he was rooted, he could be trying to use an app that requires root on an unrooted device, the possibilities of app conflicts on a rooted or unrooted device are near endless, especially if you use sideloaded apps that are cracks or warez such as games
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
May just be an app, i had advance task killer on my unrooted evo when i first got it and had that problem, took it to sprint and they deleted it because they said it was an bad app fir the evo.
