[Q] vibrant bricked i think??

so i crashed my phone today.. basically my phone was rooted and i install everything you would need flashed the phone with obsidian 4.2 or whatever... heres where i think i went wrong ( im not super techy but smart enough to get this far) .. the flash was awesome running super fast... i got greedy and i decided i wan'ted to do the voodoo lag fix to see how much faster it would be.. i was reading tuitorial on how to do it.. it said to flash the phone with the davlchik cache and scirpts download did that.... backed up phone with clock mod rec. flashed the phone with voodoo linda was giving the prompts it was done... and i got the vibrant screen only thing i can come up with was my phone was being glitchy and didn't download the whole file for the scripts.. and didn't really install i thought i covered my basis.. now heres the real problem when i volume button/power button the phone into recovery and went to restore the phone the phone completed the system recovery but when in data recovery it froze at pcsync_stream??? what do i do now can i load a rom on the sd card? and flash it?
You will probably have to ODIN back to stock.
Try the bible thread:

Help needed: New User

I just bought my Epic 4G a few days ago and quickly discovered the existence of rooting and custom ROMS. Needless to say I took the plunge the other day.
I attempted to install the Epic Experience Froyo yesterday but it doesn't seem to load up properly.
Seemed simple enough. I boot into clockwork, I cleared data/factory cache, cache partition, and davnik cache three times each. I installed the ROM from my SD card, install says it's successful, so I hit the reboot.
After this I expect my new rom to load up but all that happens is the samsung logo comes up for about a minute, phone reboots again and goes into the factory Android system recovery utility.
Any ideas? Please help, my phone is inoperable at the moment.

Sounds like kernel. Dl a costume kernel and flash it thru cwm.

I'll have to apologize ahead of time because I'm completely new to rooting.
Which kernel should I use (a link to one with instructions would be helpful), and how do I get it on my SD card if it isn't booting up? (my pc doesn't have an SD card reader)
Did you first use odin to install the DK17 modem and kernel through odin? That might be the step youmissed because if you just flashed straight from stock 2.1 to epic experience you need the updated froyo modem and kernel. Check here if you're still confused.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
So, flash Odin/DK17 and then flash Epic Experience over this?
Ya also did you first do the one click root method to make sure you are definitely rooted? If you press. Volume down + camera button + power when booting and the letters are blue you are NOT rooted. If they are green then you are rooted. Sometimes when you install a rom it might take away your root so you might try doing it in the order of this:
1. Flash back to stock 2.1
2. Do theone click root method
3. Flash DK17 modem through odin
4. Install Epic Exprience

I went straight from 2.1 to 2.2 firmware without using odin or anything of the sort. Will I notice a difference? If so what difference will it make and can I just install DK17 modem and kernel or do I have to revert back to 2.1 first?

Hm that is interesting. When i first made the mistake of going from to a 2.2 rom without upgrading the modem my cell & data service wouldn't work. It kept looping on and off and would not stick. Maybe it depends what rom you went to as maybe some require the modem as mandatory and others do not? I am not sure. But if its working for you, you should just be able to flash the DK17 through odin without going back to 2.1.

Go to settings -> about phone and then check where it says "Baseband version" it should say DK17 in there. If it doesnt follow these instructions to download the files you need. It has step by step directions
http://www.nomie.mobi/how-to-install-dk17-modem-samsung-epic/
I assume this is the rom you flashed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=856715
In the first post it has a link to the instructions to properly flash the rom. You can use those instructions to flash the modem and see if it fixes your problem. You might be better off just flashing everything again. It would mean downloading odin and the files to your pc and flashing them to your phone from your pc. The simplest way to do this is follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
Follow the instructions carefully and when your done you have the new modem, the froyo rom, clockwork recovery, and be rooted.
I was at the site earlier but when i click the dl link it takes me to some wordpress and tells me registration is currently not allowed then asks for a username and password

You can do it running 2.2. This will wipe your phone and install the new system.

I actually skipped step 2 and everything went fine for me. My laptop was being an asshole and not seeing the phone, so the 1 click root script simply wasn't working.. but then I realized that the DK17 flash via Odin that I got form the epic experience thread included clockworkmod and was pre-rooted and everything so I saw that step as unnecessary.

boot loop (black and white text)

hi,
info : bell GT-i900m
rom : darky's 9.2
so heres my problem. my phone crashed yesterday so i removed the battery and then when I launch it back i got stock in the Darky's boot screen. I was also unable to go to CWM to update to the last version of Darky's rom so i used odin to flash the original 2.1 and now whatever version of the firmware i try to flash on the phone install successfully in odin but i get a "Galaxy S GT-9000" that appear in loop every 5-10 second until i remove the battery. I still have access to download mode....
anybody have a solution ? should i install a stock rom and go to warranty ? or should I just trow it 2 second in the microwave so they dont see that i installed costum rom ?
Sounds like corrupt and faulty movinand. Send it back for warrantee. Don't even worry about what rom is on it, it's a hardware fault. I sent mine back with a half booting custom froyo with speedmod, they didn't care. If you want to be safe, just flash a stock rom quickly. Don't microwave it...
Sent from xda premium app on i9000m.
thanks a lot i'll send it to bell tomorrow
Can you boot the stock 2.1 you installed through Odin?
Flash jpc with repartition.
Flash jl2 on top. If that still doesnt work, then its most like the good ol' faulty chip.

Flashing the JL2 on top/after JPC is done WITHOUT repartition!!! just clarifying that, learnt from reading on here and helping a couple of people with them, lol.
(the i9000m's don't like repartitioning and flashing done at the same time, needs restart between them.. not a clue why, they're "special", lol.)
Flash Boot and spl.bin with heimdall. This is The solution.
It is definitely your bootloader.... flash jl2 firmware but there is a fixed one somewhere here on xda as the one from samfirmware is missing dbdata. Worked like a charm for me. (I also have it on my laptop somewhere pm me and ill find it) then you should flash superoptimized kernel or speedmod kernel via Odin with reboot unchecked. You should have recovery back. I've been through this issue and spent hours trying to get back to normal.
I have a few files to get you running if you get stuck....like I said just hit me up with a pm

I've totally messed up, Please help!

I have a problem now, I Tried to install MIUI ROM 1.5.20 from the oficial page using AIO Vibrant Toolbox 2.5, following step by step, but when it finished the phone started to restart constantly, I tried to restore with the backup I've made, but now It freezes at start with the logo SAMSUNG and VIBRANT.
I can´t enter to the recovery menu, what can I do? please help me =(
You can't restore your old 2.2 backup when you're on a cm7 kernel. You'll have to Odin to stock, flash your previous rom then flash your backup.
But how can I do that, with odin? how I use that? The only screen I see in the phone is VIBRANT Samsung, pressing the three buttons isn't working... =(
You need to get to download mode, not recovery one. To get to that just take off your battery then put it back in while holding the volume buttons and plugging the USB cable from your pc to your vibrant.
More on that and how to use Odin here

remove battery
connect USB cable to computer and your phone still without the battery
press both volume keys and keep them pressed
insert battery
phone is in download mode
use odin to go back to stock
that isn't working too, It looks like it freezes just after starting, the only difference is when it is turned off, and I plug the usb cable, it shows the little circle but freezed too..
=(
I´m in the downloading mode noW!!! i will try to fix it...
update******
I'm downloading the drivers, can you recommend me a rom to install? or both a custom rom and a stock one plz?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991267
The link above is for the Vibrant Bible. Get stock rom before flashing a custom rom.
I always go back to stock 2.1 then install custom rom.
I'll try that, any suggestion stable for a rom with froyo and above plz?

Bionix is always a good choice, and so is trigger. But just to be clear, you *MUST* Odin back to jfd and only jfd to get everything working properly. Then go about installing the specific rom you choose.
