Screen gaps - are they all like this?! - Desire HD General

Just been using my DHD under bright light and realised that I too have the gaps at the edge of the screen that some are talking about. Thought I had got away with it until now.
Seems the build quality of these things is pretty poor considering the price - I can easily fit the edge of a piece of paper in that gap ... not good.
Wondering if this will have any damaging effect on the phone in the long run?
Anyone who says they don't suffer from this, look closely (if you dare) under bright light. I didn't think mine did too until now!

so I'm the only one or you guys are just too scared to look in case you have this issue... which is it? ;-)

im fully aware of my problems but i can live with them... perfection is impossible, the build quality isnt that bad... but i can understand that other peoples expectations are a lot higher.
have you tried a warranty call?

I don't have these gaps. It's as flush as it should be.

thing is though, i dont have that annoying sim cover gap, but i have a slightly loose screen, but its not an issue if you get what i mean.

Loose screen?! Not an issue for a £450 device? You must be very tolerant ;-)

I know what you mean. I think, I just got lucky. No proximity sensor issues, no INIT lag, no SIM cover gaps, no screen gaps. There had to be someone who got one!

yeah i pretty am... besides that it has a 2 year warranty and if anything happens i can let HTC know and they can sort it out... mind you the camera on the device moves inside the case but hasnt gone so far down that i cant take a photo :_)

Finally, my 4th HD2, a FLAWLESS device !!

As you may have read before, I was really complaining because of the poor voicecall quality, screen alignment with the plastic cover and many other flaws. I have replaced my device twice and got each time a different problem. I decided not to give up...
Today, I got my 4th HD2 and the earpiece problem is GONE!!
The first thing I did was to have a look at the screen. It is perfectly flush/aligned with the cover. It used to be either deeper somewhere at the corners or higher.
The problem with the light sensor doesn't exist anymore and after more than 12 hours of extensive testing, I can say I don't have any problem with machine anymore. Finally a flawless HD2.
One thing I've noticed ( because I'm used to register all my devices the 1st day I buy it ) that the serial number is almost the same as the 1st device having too many problems, the difference is like 372 only and the 4th HD2 is even older than all the previous handsets ( Manufacture date: 2nd of Nov. 2009 )
I believe that this is not a problem with some specific affected batches. IMHO, it is random...
Hope that helped
I didn't follow your previous thread. Do you have a summary on the problems you encountered and may I ask how you proceeded with your reclamation? Was it directly with HTC or through your vendor?
I also notice that my screen isn't perfectly aligned with the cover, it's a bit of gap to the top right, whereas on the top left i don't feel any gap. This doesn't kill me but if there are handsets that are perfectly made, I want one when I'm paying this much money. I also encounter sparkling sounds when talking, specially when using the speaker.

Actually I was forced to sell the devices because they refused to consider the problems as well known... I lost around 100 Euros but got a good device after all... you know we all like perfectionism
Some of the problems like I mentioned :
-The screen not correctly aligned with the plastic cover
-Crackling and noisy earpiece when making voicecalls
-Very loose hardware keys and buttons. They are not rock solid now but way better
-Light sensor behavior was somehow weird. Doesn't always work, dont ask me why
- Screen jitters like the ones posted on youtube.

Yes, so as to be perfectly aligned after applying the screen protector. I installed mine two days ago and now the screen is perfectly aligned.

It's a glass screen, no protector is required. Most HD2 screens are flush with the rubber/plastic sides - there isn't a recess, I would say the ones that aren't flush are manufacturing defects.
I've had 2 HD2s so far and both have the earpiece issue. The 2nd had what felt like poor fitting keys initially, but over the week I've had the phone they've bedded in nicely and now have perfect feel.
I'm just going to put up with the earpiece quality for now, it's not perfect but I'm sure future ROMs will reduce the volume which should be a good start.
Ah Im glad you finally got one that works for you
Hope you enjoy it
Im loving mine Im not as much as a noob as I was when I first posted a month or so ago, where I got flamed
I think I only have the two following problems:
-The screen not correctly aligned with the plastic cover
-Crackling and noisy earpiece when making voicecalls
The buttons are a bit loose but I didn't even notice that before someone else told me about it.
But I totally agree with you, I'm also a perfectionist, but I doubt I'll make any effort beyond contacting the support and see what happens. Specially the bad sound quality.
Oh well, I'm glad you finally found a nice piece. Take care of it now, don't drop it or scratch it
Ah you managed getting another one
Good luck with it! Treat it carefully

How did you get the information about the manufacture date of your device?
It would be really interessting for me to, when my device was builded.
Thank you in advance!
Xeon,
You seem to have gone through quite a few devices so, if you don't mind me asking, does your device have a rattle in the head of the device. I have got replies from quite a few people saying it is normal, but a few also don't have it. It's really starting to annoy me, I thought I'd live with it, but not sure I can now. Shaking the device hardly makes a sound, however, tapping it lightly near the camera gives me a big rattle.
Thanks in advance
My phone has a rattle toward the head area, and upon close examination, it appears to come from the camera at the top ofthe phone.
Since our phone doesn't havevs fixed focus lens, I'm assuming the rattle noise isthe autofocus mechanism. Therefore the noise is perfectly normal in my opinion.
Actually i think you are a bit too paranoic. That's fine, was same with me when I bought it and I think with everyone else. This feeling comes away after 1-2 months of actually using the phone rather than staring at it as at faberge egg from 2cm away everyday to find a scratch or a piece of dustd
p.s. - hardware keys are made that way for a reason and every hd2 has them the same way
NO actually mine doesnt ratltle but I discovered I got a faulty screen with the 4th device... shaking screen/cardio/untyped keys... the screen starts acting weird sometimes. IMO the last device is the worst as the noise problem during phone conversation wasn't solved and the distortion is so much annoying....
**** HTC, I am sorry to say it but nothing more to be expected from a device Made in Taiwan...
That's my last device, mark my words.

You know where the iPhone is made, do you? And besides the iPhone, pretty much every electronic device you're using...
[sarcastic] You're really lucky man! [/sarcastic]
My first HTC HD2 got broken and I've changed it, bought another HTC HD2.
Noticed that its build quality is really excellent compared to my old HD2 (that was one of the first produced), I've only had some weird problems with the touchscreen like yours, but I've solved it pressing it in the four HD2 angles: now the screen is more IN the device housing in the top right angle, but all of my digitizer problems are now solved.
Now my HTC HD2 is perfect.
Try with that.
Ouh, and remember that the noise in conversation can be a ROM problem!
Mine had too, but updating to the newer TMOUS radios I don't have it anymore!
Just software/network problems
And.. don't be paranoic, the PERFECT thing doesn't exist (talking of the rattle..)!

OK Apple is robbing people and HTC is following.. thank you.
And no.. Nokia is made in Finland and some other European countries including Germany. You can guess that by looking at the serial number that's why you get what you pay for...
Sony low end laptops are made in china but high end ones are made in Japan like the S/Z/T series... You see, you pay for a top notch device that much of money expecting it to be almost fault free. With HTC you never know, it's all about luck.
It makes me laugh reading how many people here got a faulty handset. When someone states a problem experienced with his heaset, the first answer is " seems you got a faulty device"
For god's sake a fault should not affect more than 0.5% of the devices.. but with HTC, it's like a feature; each client gets a different problem with the hardware. I can't tolerate the polls results.. Like the one with Weird touch screen behavior and issues. More than 55% have a buggy screen.. I know that it's not a case study nor a realistic accurate interpretation but it gives you a clear idea about what's going on.
I swear on my mother's life that this device( including all the previous 3 ) has the worst call quality a handset could produce. Believe me everytime I make/get a call I start blaspheming. I burned more than 1000$ on this device but thanks I took the lesson.
I still have my HD which is almost flawless compared to this product but slow as hell.
Don't mention iphone and apple things as I'm not apple fan-boy
Well, reasoning is obviously no strength of yours. Sad.

Manufacturing Imperfections (Sketchy Build Quality)

Alright, so right off the bat I just want to say that this isn't a doom and gloom thread (I hope), but it's an issue I wanted to ask you guys about since I'm on my 2nd phone now and I've had cosmetic issues with both. I want to love my phone, I just want one that won't give me problems first! I will post pictures soon, to show you guys what I'm about to describe below.
Both phones have had minor (but very annoying) imperfections involving the casing. My first phone was the most problematic. First off, the battery cover did not sit flush. I did not realize how much of a difference this made in terms of build quality until I got my second phone. My 1rst phone would creak and click when pressure was applied to the back and it just did not seem like a very sturdy device. This was not the case with the second phone (which had a back cover that fit perfectly) as there was no creaking or clicking, it felt rock solid just like its supposed to. Also, there was a small chip and discolouration of the teflon coating on the bottom left front face of the first phone. Again, nothing major but still not something that I was not pleased about given the price of the phone.
Unrelated but my first phone also had the purple tint issue which is the main reason I returned it and bought a new one (I couldn't outright swap because I don't live in the US). My second phone came in and luckily it did not have the tint issue. All I can say is WOW, what a difference it makes having a proper screen!! The black colours actually look crisp and dark, and there is absolutely no tint at low brightness.
So the screen was good. I checked the bottom left hand to see for any issues with the teflon, and there were none. I checked the backplate and like I mentioned earlier, it was perfectly flush. So far so good BUT.. again there were some cosmetic issues! Along the left side of the phone there was a tiny chip and some of the grey finish was off. Also, on the back, the bottom teflon piece did not sit flush with the rest of the device.
Once again, these are minor yet annoying things (but who knows, maybe I just have OCD!). The big issue from the first phone was the screen and the creaking, both of which are resolved with the second device, but I'm i'm contemplating whether I should return this one as well to go for one that is "perfectly built".. I mean, if this phone was store bought I would have no hesitation. I would just go there and make them open the boxes until I found a device that had no imperfections.. But it's just a real hassle having to continually ship my old device back, purchase a new one (while waiting two weeks to get credited back my $600 for the first device), and waiting for it to arrive. I also don't want to risk getting another phone with the purple tint issue..
Sorry for the long winded post, but basically what I wanted to ask was do you guys have any manufacturing imperfections with your phones??. I'm not talking about faulty screens or weak antennas, but actually design or cosmetic flaws. Do you guys have any and have you learned to just accept them or have you returned your devices and successfully gotten the "perfect" device.
Thanks, and hopefully I can get some pics up soon. Feel free to post your own so we can compare!
I got mine for free at this year's Barcelona MWC and luckyly i've had no issues whatsoever regarding hardware or aesthetics. An I say luckyly because obviously if I haven't bought it and I don't live in the US I would most definitely not get it replaced.

So which are you really looking for? Manufacturing defects or design flaws?
Are you looking for functional defects or cosmetic only defects?
Are you look for process-gone-completely-wrong defects or are you looking for minor imperfections resultant of process variation?
It is certainly possible to have a bad screen or a bad antenna as a manufacturing defect. There is also minor variation in any manufacturing process - this is normal. The trick is to keep the variation controlled well enough that the process consistently produces acceptable quality product. Note: No manufacturing process produces perfect parts, and minor imperfections are not necessarily defects. Normally, a design flaw impacts manufacturing quality only if the design requirements are too stringent for manufacturing capability.
I know you started out saying you did not want yet another thread bagging on the N1, but without clearer objectives, you've left it wide open for just that.
Mmm I love the build quality, it's very rigid and solid.
There is one imperfection that I noticed like 3 weeks of constant use.. The bottom piece, the one with "htc" on it, is a little bit more raised on one side (in comparison to the silver band on the back) than the other side. I'm talking 0.5mm difference that you can't see, only feel when comparing.
I'm writing that off as absolutely negligible and too tiny to even think about.

Same here. I thought about popping it off (it's just retained by a couple of clips) and attempting to re-seat it, but I see no problem with it. It's not like the 2nd batch of the iPhone 3G, where there was 1mm gaps between the plastic back and chrome bezel. I'm shocked no news blog picked up on that, it was fairly widespread.

Well it's the almighty apple, they don't wanna disappoint their readers that the calculator that they paid $500 for is also cheaply built.
I have a question that (um..) kinda relates to this. I'm having a hard timing saying this so bare with me. You know when technology is first released that is has alot of problems and bugs but overtime it seems that the problems die down because the companies that produce the phones (xboxs, iphones, ps3, etcs) get smarter and make things differently or better...
Well my contract with t-mobile is up in 46 days and I was planning on getting a nexus one. I don't plan on getting it engraved. My question is that do you think my phone will be made when I order it or do you believe its been sitting in a warehouse since March 26th (guess) just waiting for somebody to place a call? I've seen those cool "making of nexus one" videos on youtube and figured i'd ask you guys. Thanks to whoever answers.
yup, i have similar issues. i initially thought they actually shipped a refurb unit to me. turns out i'm not the only one. now i'm not that worried

attn1, I could have been more clear in my last statement, 'design flaw' was a vague term. I meant cosmetic only defects and minor imperfections as a result of process variation. I know that with any product that is mass produced on an assembly line you will get variation from device to device. This thread wasn't meant to bash this variation but just to compare what other people have experienced with their phones.
Like I said, my first phone was awful, it had both functional and aesthetic problems. My second phone seems to be fully functional but still has a few (albeit minor) aesthetic imperfections. I must say though, I got my Brando Gel case in today and it looks great on the phone! It covers up the unevenness on the bottom teflon piece as well as the blemish on the left side of the phone very nicely.
My nexus came with a scratch or bubble on the inside of the screens glass. They told me i'd get a refurb in exchange(even though it's about a week old), I told them i'd think about it. Think i'll be calling back and demanding a brand new device.

That kinda scares me because I'm picking up a nexus one in 46 days (contract with t-mobile will be up then) and I dont want something like that to happen to me. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I would demand a new one too
Have had no issues with mine until yesterday when the trackball stopped scrolling left. Refurb sans engraving rolling in tomorrow. All told still much better quality then my G1 or Blackberry.
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
No tint nothing amiss as far as build quality that I can notice. This is the best built (visually and as far as any creakiness or such) phone I have ever owned and the first one I have had without any perceptible flaws out of the gate.
OK! So to all of you who has a Nexus One with cosmetic imperfections on the BOTTOM plastic piece on the BACK, with the labeled HTC, i may have a cure for you.
So, with me I HAD a slight imperfection on the right side, about a 1mm gap. It was annoying and I have some slight OCD (used to be worse). One day last week or so, that part of my phone became VERY hot, probably 101-105℉. While that plastic was hot, it was a little bit bendable. I used a rather large amount of force, and over about three times of doing this, the plastic is flush with the metal, and the rest of the phone.
So try that if you're super partial to your device like me. Or if you dont wanna deal with HTC, like me.

"refurbished" sounds bad but really its a more taken care of device isn't it? It's been tested to a further degree so its more likely to come without flaws perhaps or am I reaching?

Bad build on my Atrix?

It looks like the bottom right of my phone has an issue where the front and side parts do not meet up, and so I get some light bleed on that edge. Does anyone else have this issue, or is it just mine and should I get it replaced?
I would find out if its a problem specifically to your phone or all of them.If its just yours get it swapped out.
That would be just yours... I dont have that issue
dont have any problems like that. swap it for a new one.
I just checked mine and looked very hard to see if any light leaked and it doesn't seem to. I'd definitely say that's not normal/how it's intended to be... not sure how common it is.
Does the gap seem noticeable? Aside from the light that is. Does the "frame" around the glass seem bent? My glass seems to fit the frame completely, so I can only imagine that happening if the frame was bent somehow or if the glass was not made properly.
If the gap is significant enough to let crap get in there, then it might be worth returning. If it's just a little light, it's a tougher call. Based on the pictures, I'd like to say I wouldn't bother. That said, I get the feeling I'd probably get it replaced if it were actually my phone. The biggest thing is if you can see any other potential problems as a result of whatever the issue is.
Same as above, I don't have that issue.
Thanks everyone -- I'll take it back tomorrow and see what they say - probably will get a replacement just to be on the safe side.

the only time that you can really tell is in the dark (how I saw it in the first place this morning when I got up and grabbed my phone) -- otherwise even looking directly at it it's not noticeable. I'm just wondering if the store did something to it (very long story, but they hosed up and ordered me the wrong stuff and magically found this one to give me so I'm wondering if it was a return that I got or something odd).

Rough edges, too hot, bad camera and visible pixel grid

I've recently purchased black HTC ONE. Although at first look device looks great (design is near perfection), I am really disappointed with its quality.
Build quality: both sides of the phone have rough edges - skin gets caught leaving white residue most of the time. Upper left edge of the screen is not fitted well - raised above the speaker grill
Really hot! It gets uncomfortable hot after few minutes of browsing over wifi - the screen gets warm as well! I also have GNote 2 and Iphone 4s and they get to such temperatures only after havy use when charging.
Camera is no good! (and yes I know how to take a picture) - pictures are noise (in relatively good light) and contain pinkish tint in center when focusing on white surfaces
Pixel grid (horizontal and vertical) is quite visible on the screen when jts turned off (this does not bother me), or on a mid day light and even indoors under some angles (and this is f-ing bothering me!)
I dont know did I get a really bad unit or this device is all looks and no quality...

That overheating issue you're facing is not normal, I believe. I have had a Galaxy S3 which got really hot after minimal usage, and the HTC One is great when it comes to that in comparison. You have to understand that aluminium soaks up the heat from the internals of the device, which is a good thing and a bad thing; it is perhaps bad because it can get a bit uncomfortable to hold while playing games, for instance, but at the same time it is good because it preserves the internals of the device and prolongs their life.
I have the a silver one and I do not face the problem with the edges. I read that the black one has a coating on it which makes it more prone to scratches, dings and chips than the silver one, so maybe that is the problem you're facing? I have also read that some of the earlier versions had gaps (like the screen not being fitted well, as you mentioned) but I am not sure about them. If you feel uncomfortable about the device, just go to the HTC service center and talk to them about it, perhaps they can sort you out a replacement if you're under warranty.
I cannot comment on the camera because I am by no means a photographer or even have a lot of experience with them, but it is suffice to say that I love the camera and I feel it is much better than my S3, sister's 4S and Dad's iPhone 5.
Yes I do expect here to be exactly as you've described. Maybe this is why my relationships does not last more than a year

Its not chipped or scratched. It looks quite nice really. However you can feal its edges scratching when you hold the phone. Nothing dangerous just bloody annoying - due to hype about build quality I had my expectations set high.
I am no photography expert I just take pictures with steady hand and in fair light - if my subject is the white wall, the pink tint is all over the middle of the picture
As others said probably very bad unit. I'll try to replace it on monday.
Definitely defective. I've been using the phone for the last hour browsing the net and checking email. Still cool to the touch. Not sure what the sharp edges are...

Definitely defective. I've been using the phone for the last hour browsing the net and checking email. Still cool to the touch. Not sure what the sharp edges are...

Cool to the touch? Do you have massive calluses on your hands that are impenetrable to heat? I don't know if I've read of anyone else describing this phone as cool to the touch when being used.
As for the OPs phone. Return it. I've got black One and it is so damn nice. If you aren't fully enjoying it, something must be defective. The casing certainly sounds like it is. The camera: I recently took a short trip and only brought the phone as my camera. Before, I didn't like the camera so much. After spending time with it, I grew to like it quite a bit. It isn't an amazing camera, but it still gets pretty good shots. Maybe your settings need some tweaking, or you got a really bad unit and the camera is defective as well.
Anyway, take it back. Get yourself a perfect One.

Well, then fact that I'm in a room with AC probably helps too. But yeah, pretty cool to the touch. Not even warm.

I think a lot of us forget that not everyone has the opportunity to just walk in store and get a replacement.. There's a lot of downsides to ATT and Tmobile, etc. upsides are they will most likely exchange them until your happy. At least you dont have to accept a bad one..Keep mentioning zero gap til they bring one that applies I got lucky i guess and my first one is nearly perfect.
It sounds like yours is bad enough to do whatever you gotta do to get it replaced. Good luck,
Pixel grid? Do you mean you can see the digitalizer layer? This is quite normal on capacitive touch mobiles with thin glass

Build quality of this phone

Hello,
so as a user of Xperia Z2 I have my rights to complain. This phone is nothing but amazing when it comes to functionality but sucks at build quality. My phone has a gaps around the frame of the display. At top right there is a small gap, on bottom left and on the left of the phone. These places, especially the gap in left side of display, collect dust and other trash. Also the USB flap is popping off all the time dispite having been cleaned and replaced by polish warranty service, propably because the phone's frame has a little arch in there. Also back of the phone had a bit of a move. It has been replaced by afore mentioned service and it does not sqeak anymore when pressed but the top of frame of the phone has been scratched in the process.
So my experience with service has been quite bad. They did replace back and USB flap(so they say but taking into the account it has had dust on silicon seal when I received it I am not so sure) but it left a scar on the phone. So the flap is popping off anyway, making phone not waterproof and annoying.
Now I would like to point out that I use magnetic charger so the port has not been opened too many times actually. Also sending the phone off for repair is not an option now because it will take them another 3 weeks time to repair it.
To be honest I wrote this to scare off some potential Sony buyers because build quality simply is not too good or at least make them check their new phones thoroughly and return if they are flawed.

Sorry for this bro
My xperia z2 i buy in Brazil,is perfectly build,no gaps no flaps coming out,i buy in pré order,i might be Lucky, ask for a total replacement if you have warranty, it might help
Got no buildproblems with my z2 that was bought back in September, but there could be some z2 with build quality issues as indicated by the op
you could post your problem here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744197 + telling your batch number. If people from the service made any damage to your phone you have to complain about it and ask for a new device since it was not your fault... its kinda late now i guess.
I myself have always used Samsung phone in the past until this year when I got the Z2 after many hours reading and watching reviews. Never once did a read or watch a bad review regarding the build quality of the Z2.
For me, the Z2 totally outshines my previous Samsung phones on the build quality site of things. It totally feels like a premium device to me.
I have similar issues as well. Flaps pop out repeatedly after cleaning and replacement. Had gaps in phone, which caused water damage...

One of the reasons that gaps open itself (if they are clear with no dust in it) is the pressure in the phone that is coused in situations for example like in your pocket and you run/bend.Thats why when you drop it to the ground the flaps are opening to release the pressure. The water test which is provided in the menu of the Z2 have the same way of working as well - pressure determinate that if the phone is sealed and ready for a swim when you bend it abit. :highfive:
my Z2 has gaps in the corners on both front and back side
can it be waterproof with the gaps?

You just describe exactly what is happening with mine. Just the same issues.
Quite sad that Sony can't give you a well built phone for this price...To be honest after having Desire 816 for 3 weeks in the meantime as Sony was being serviced I started regretting that I didn't buy M8. It would be **** specwise compared to Sony but the build quality is just marvelous...Or wait for Z3. I think I could call myself Sony fan some time ago but now I am not so sure. Will have Z2 in mind when buying next phone in 1.5 year time.
Not trying to offend anyone but I believe that a great bunch of us XDA members are extremely anal about our devices.
Every device I've owned has had people complaining about the most minor of issues that no regular users ever hear of.
"MY PHONES CAMERA IS 0.01MM AWAY FROM BEING CENTRED, IS SONY FOR REAL, HOW COULD THEY DO THIS, BLAH BLAH"
I bought my Z2 being incredibly happy with the build quality and i still am.The metal/glass body is exceptional in terms of build quality. Compared to the plasticy build of the G3/other devices, our phone is amazing.
The issue is more of a quality control issue but the thing is that the "issues" we have are so very minor. The gaps form no actual issue, same with off centred camera (that i know of), the flaps popping off is an actual issue but i dont personally know anyone who has had this happen to them, only a few xda users. (Probably due to the constant opening for flashing purposes/other purposes)
Sending it back should fix it, and if it doesnt then send it back again.
Also, all phones have issues. Look on any other phone forum. Our phone is actually better off when compared to others in terms of quality control.
hi guys i want to buy this phone soon and i just wanted to check if the build quality issues i read about are real or not
1) do the flaps really pop up on their own? and if yes what has caused them to do so?is it a manufacturing error?
2) i read about some camera issues with not starting from lockscreen
3) some devices has reported that because of the size of the phone the device has suffered from cracks and niggles caused by the pressure while in pockets?
and please if u can give me your overall experience with the phone and should i buy it or not
p.s : i'm coming fro htc one m7 but the m8 is too expensive and i want to try sony now
thanks in advance to all

1. Not for me, most problems are there with early batches which are harder to comeby now
2. Camera seems to launch fine from lockscreen although a rather large delay
3. The self cracking issue i cant realy tell, my device undergoes my fat behind sitting on it also being extremly hot to cold, i left it in my freezer one time at -30 celcius for a hr and its fine

I agree with some of these issues arent realy issues
Ive had 4 Z2 replacements and i only had them replaced due to serious heating issues, large quantities of dead pixels and one if not both speakers being dead
Im happy with my off centre Camera and my dim led light and my single dead pixel
So Dear other users
If it doesnt affect your handling of the device its best to forget about it.

1. Not for me. Probably extreme use/excessive opening.
2. Nope. Perfect here.
3. Well i personally havent had this happen. I have dropped my phone onto concrete without a case while running from my pockets and its still perfect with literally only 1 small not noticble mark on the corner so i doubt itll crack from pressure in your pocket.
Go for the z2. Its a great phone imho.

4 Z2's?!?!? Holy sheet metal. Wow you are very unlucky. I personally have a 100% perfect no issues at all z2. If your current phone has issues, just keep returning it. I had 3 nexus 5's, all with various actual issues before i got a perfect one... then i water damaged it. Lmao

headphone port, gaps and speaker grill problems can potentially hurt the devices water resistance ability

They dont. If you want to make sure that it is waterproof, go on the test if waterproof without water thread.
