I have a original nytouch 3g rooted, just flashed to the cm6-rc2, it worked fine EXCEPT there's NO market app and gmail app. so i went online to ask and some1 said to install market and gmail i need to have Gapps installed and he showed me to go to Rom manager to get those. I went there and saw google app but to be able to install it, it said i must have the ClockworkMod installed first, so i did then it prompt to reboot the phone...i hit OK to reboot it and the phone just got STUCK on the Booting loop, never got to the home screen, i assumed i bricked the damn phone. basically, iam screwed..please anyone help me to fix it, PLEASE..thanks alot
Can u get into recovery or anything? That shouldn't brick your phone. U need to go to amonra 1.7.0 recovery. Forget that method of gapps. Just download and flash the link. People have been having a lot of problems with your method

well, i tried to turn on the phone by holding home+power, it went to this screen:
ClockworkMOd Recovery v2.5.0.1
-reboot system now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-nandroid
-partitions menu

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
if i try to select reboot system now, it wont work, it'll will boot but got stuck on boot screen forever.
i did try to select "wipe data/factory reset" then "wipe cache partition" then select "intall zip form sdcard" then it takes me to my sdcard that shows this:
Choose a zip to apply
-Android/
-clockworkmod/
-dcim/
-lost.dir/
-update-cm-6.0.0-DS-RC2-signed
I select "update-cm-6.0.0-rc2..", wait for it to flash then reboot and the phone still gets stuck on boot screen, seems like nothing fixed..
I assumed the issue is the ClockworkMod messed everything up, but i just don't know how to get rid of it....
sigh....so frustrated...i had an iphone before and it's so simple, if you mess up just restore via itunes and everything goes back to stock.. anyway, please help anyone...please
Did u try downloading amonra 1.7.0 and flashing it?

Did u do a nandroid backup before u flashed the Rom? If u did just restore. If u can I have RA-sapphirev-1.7.0g as my recovery. Same phone as u. You're not bricked. Just need to undo what u did.

no, i didn't do any backups...stupid me..is there any other way to fix when i don't hava a backup?
Can you get your sdcard to show up on your computer? If you can. Try wiping everything in recovery. Re-partition your sdcard leaving the values as they are. Then download cyanogen 5.0.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688262 putting that on your sdcard and flashing it to see if it boots up. Also this is the recovery you should have stayed with. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 and need to go back to. Page also has instructions on different ways to flash it. Let us know what happens. Use g version at top of downloads btw
Make sure that while in recovery you flash the 5.0.8.zip and then flasht the Google Add-on .zip before rebooting.
Actually I flashed them separate and all was well. Just trying to get you into the os so u can flash the recovery and get rid of Rom manager. If u can't get your sdcard on your comp to load another Rom to boot u might have to change your recovery through fastboot. Then flash new Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719. More info on fastboot flashing ect.

thanks alot guys for helping, i got it worked again, though. i load cm5.0.8 on another sdcard and flash it, it finally booted to the home screen..however, when i tried to go to recovery screen again by holding home+power to flash gapps app, i still see the white "clockworkmod.." on top and bottom of the recovery screen though...weird..is there anyway to get rid of it??? cause' i think it's installed on my phone but don't know how to go in my phone to delete it. any ideas?? thanks
U still have that recovery flashed to your phone. Download the one I posted put on sdcard and use terminal method on that thread to flash

clock work is fine.... do u still see the options u have? install from zip? after downloading gapp or roms correctly... go into download folder, locate gapp or roms n flash.
by downloading correctly means... having good internet connection and not having data shifting from 3g to e to wateva. plus dont do anything else beside the download. if u lose connection or shifting in connection speed... cancel download n redownload...this will keep download file from getting corrupted during download process... for future referrence - u should do this to everydownload
we r here to help hopefully this will fix ur problem

I've rooted my phone, and followed these instructions here http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-samsung-continuum/ to put CWM on and these instructions here http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-dl17-clean-rooted-android-2-1-rom-on-samsung-continuum/ to flash the ROM on. I also added tried adding these test kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926555 as well.
None of this seems to have stuck. When I reboot the phone after clearing all data and caches in CWM and installing the ROM, it boots up to the standard Samsung Continuum interface. When I go into recovery mode again, it goes back to the standard Android recovery mode instead of CWM. I have also tried CWM manager, but it does not work because the Continuum is not on its list of phones to install the recovery, and because the recovery I manually install does not stick, i can't use the interface to install the rom.
Please, can someone point me in the right direction with what I did wrong/why the ROM does not seem to be working?
Thanks!
May i ask what you mean by, "standard Samsung Continuum interface"? Once you flash a rom, it is definitely going to "stick"... You know that this is just a cleaned up rom, right? no theming or anything? so it is going to look the same (excluding the launcher)...
One thing i can think of is to ake sure that in Mount in CWM that System is mounted, just to make sure..
Also, by following those posts, you SHOULD go to the original recovery screen... Then you need to press "apply:update.zip" or whatever to get into CWM.. if that doesn't work, then do this:
use ODIN to flash the recovery and kernel, and as soon as it is done, hold in the recovery button combination (power, vol up/down)... Sometimes thats the only way to get into it for some people...
Yeah, I just meant cleaned up. When I reboot, my phone still has touchwiz interface, Bing and bloatware. I do use the update.zip to get the CWM recovery screen, which works fine, but when I try to get into the recovery screen again, i have to reload the update file, and when I try to use Rom Manager is says that CWM is not installed.
In CWM, after loading the update file, it says that the three zip files are installed, but when I exit the recovery screen via reboot, the files that were supposedly installed do not take effect.
is "Mount" an option somewhere in the CWM commands?
Yea clockwork recovery won't stick. It's not supposed to. whenever you go into recovery mode you will have to load the update.zip every time. But I have the clean ROM flashed and the peanutbutta jelly time kernel and it's working just like it's supposed to. I think imnuts is working on getting the recovery to stay

i just tried flashing the peanutbutta jelly time kernal and clean DL17 and the two updates, but the phone freaked out after the samsung logo on reboot, scrambling the screen and looking frozen. I pulled the battery and reinstalled adrynalyne's test kernals and but now it is just booting to the regular factory OS.
oh and the system is mounted
After you flash the kernel the boot screen should mess up. It's fine after it boots though

Ok so waited for the phone to boot, but still booting to stock Samsung OS/interface. My flashing in CWM was as follows:
Delete data
Clear cache
Clear davlik
flash peanutbutta
flash DL17
flash email update
flash social app update
reboot
samsung logo, screen messed up but still hearing booting sounds, then finally loads into the stock samsung interface.
What am I doing wrong?
The stock samsung interface WILL remain, aka touch wiz. There will be a couple verizon apps that will remain with this rom. Also what version of cwmr are you using?
oh ok, that would be where the confusion lays. It was my understanding that it was detouchwizzed as well. Does debinging remove bing as the default and only search engine in the browser? is there a mod/ROM that de touchwizzes the continuum?
Also, I feel like this is a stupid question, but if i have this ROM on here, that means I won't be able to get OTA updates, correct?
Correct....

I downloaded gingerale and unzipped it and now I am stuck on splash screen. I can get to the boot screen and it says connect data cable to program. Help
Did you clear your data before installing the ROM?
I got it to factory reset now I am having a problem with the computer recognizing it. Any ideas? Thanks
One of my buds said he had the same problem...
What installation process did you do?
I browsed for the file then just unzipped it.
SBF
You don't unzip to upgrade, you flash them.
I think you need to SBF your phone now since the system files are probably messed up.
If you want root you need to SBF Froyo full.
Factory reset and wipe cache.
Z4root and root
Install Droid 2 bootstrapper
Flash with bootstrapper the two pre-rooted Gingerbread update files.
Good luck
Thanks for the help. How do I unroot to get back to original droid 2.2?
Ok guys..... newbie here .... literally I'm new to Boot unlocking, root, Flashing etc.
Anyway I have followed this forum for so long that I decided to take plunge yesterday and get my hands dirty.
Here is what I did:
Unlock bootloader, root and install recovery on my Atrix 4G. Atrix was @ 2.3.4 and 4.5.91 during unlocking & root.
Rebooted the phone and everything seems to be in place. Atrix loaded like the way I bought it 7 months back. No problem until now.
Also created a restore folder on my external SD. Worked fine and was successful in creating backup with time stamp
Now here are my steps and subsequent issues that I'm facing:
1. Downloaded CM9 zip file from this thread(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500535) along with Gapps to my external SD
2.Entered recovery mode during bootup and tried to flash CM9 and Gapps. Flashing seem to have gone well and completed (note I did not do clear data, clear cache or clear dalvik cache under advanced options being a newbie)
3. Reboot the phone and can only see red Moto logo and unlocked on top. Left for about 5 minutes and nothing happened.
4.Did a battery pull and entered recovery mode. wiped data, cache & cleared dalvik cache
5.Went to Install zip from sdcard option and tried to reflash CM9. Flashing seems to have gone well and completed
6. Reboot phone and again can only see Moto Red logo with unlock on top and nothing more.
7.Battery pull followed by recovery. But This time I tried to restore from my external SD. also wiped data, cache & dalvik cache
8.Restore took about 3 minutes and completed.
9.Reboot the phone. Now the phone boots and goes to Rethink possible screen and get sstuck.
10. Left it for 1 hr....nothing.
11.tried steps 7-9 again and still stuck in "Rethink possible" screen during boot.
What did I do wrong? Did I soft brick the phone? I can still enter recovery mode and read my internal and external SD and can see all files. i hope I didn't brick my phone doing this. If I did, I would regret!
Here are my options:
1.Try a stable ROM like CM7 and see what happens. I didn't want to do too much damage so haven't tried this option yet.
2.I know there is a way to hide 'unlock' during boot up (if someone can point to it obviously). Hide the 'unlock' and return the phone to ATT and tell them that phone would not boot after 2.3.6 update and get a refurbished one
Please let me know what your thoughts are. I'm currently crapping on my pants
Edit: I just tried Newtrino rom and stuck @ Moto screen which says unlock.
Edit 3/4/2012: Please go to the last post for the solution. Tenfar's CWM is old and cannot deal with latest ROMs. Use ROMRACERS latest CWM or touch based Koush's CWM for future ROM flashing.
Old CWMs will give you sleepless nights!
Ok tried restore again after wiping data, cache & dalvik cache.
Now after reboot, My Moto Logo screen says unlock and just starts flashing.
I can still get into recovery......
can someone please help me......
What you can do is: install a "stable" ROM of Gingerbread:
--Go in recovery, put a .zip of the ROM on your sdcard (with your computer), and after wiping data, install it .zip.
--Or you install a new ROM with fastboot
Anyway, be careful with your battery, because if it is empty, with no ROM on your phone, it'll be crap!

thank you for your response. However I tried that already Nutrino GB ROM. Again, I would go to 'M' screen which says unlocked and its stuck there for ever.
I used tenfar's CWM. Not sure if I need to use any other CWM. Also since my phone doesn't boot, I'm not sure how I can install any other CWM

Don't worry, soft bricks are easy to recover on the Atrix thanks to us being able to access fastboot.
For flashing a new recovery:
While your phone is off, press Volume Up + Power to power up, then release when a menu appears on your screen and navigate with volume down until you see Fastboot, select it with the volume up key.
Get the necessary files for fastboot, place them all in a folder called "moto" in your C: drive, and type in the following in a cmd window (assuming you're using windows and that the recovery image is called recovery.img):
C:/Moto> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
C:/Moto> fastboot -w
C:/Moto> fastboot reboot
Now access your recovery wipe dalvik cache, cache, factory reset and then flash a new ROM. It SHOULD boot without issues. I personally use Koush's Clockworkmod Touch, also remember that Neutrino tends to get "stuck" sometimes after the first attempt to boot and requires a battery pull and then you try to boot again. (It takes a while)

Many people also seem to have suggested RACEROM CWM. Which one would you suggest? I'm so nervous about all this now. Just have this butterfly in my stomach
flash the latest recovery and wipe everything in recovery and flash neutrino again. It should work after that. try neutrino 2.2 though. 2.5 still has it's kinks.
1st off, relax. It's difficult to brick your phone from this point Just don't get any bright ideas with .sbfs lol.
As others have said, make sure you're on latest recovery.
Question: are you installing from internal or external SD? Internal is recommended for flashing most ROMs.

As someone else said, the ONLY thing you should NEVER do is flash an .sbf or go through an OTA update, that's a surefire way to hard brick your phone. From this point on it's VERY DIFFICULT to completely brick your phone using software only.
RomRacer's CWM is based I think on v5.0.2.7? Koush's latest recovery is v5.8.1.5. I honestly couldn't name any tangible differences other than the touch interface, which is the reason I use it in the first place. (I hate mashing volume keys like a madman) It really doesn't matter which CWM you use, but when I soft bricked my phone I recovered with CWM Touch.
I would recharge your battery to 100% before trying to recover it, as that is one less headache to worry about, but if your phone starts saying 'Battery is too low to flash', do not panic, you only need a USB cable you don't mind sacrificing (doesn't have to be new). I will go into detail in case you actually need to do this.
Just make sure you use the fastboot -w command and wipe EVERYTHING through CWM before trying to flash anything else.
Solved:boot loop issue

Thanks I was able to fix my boot up issue using ROMRACERS CWM. I didn't use any command prompt or anything. I just downloaded zip file from this thread, entered recovery mode -->Install Zip from SD card --> Chose ROMRACERS zip --> it automatically flashed the recovery and I then rebooted recovery under advanced options.
After that Wiped data, cache & Dalvik Cache and proceeded to install CM9 and it booted up up flawlessly.
I'm kind of surprised that tenfar didn't add a not to use his CWM as the latest ROMs use latest ext format.
That seems to be issue. However, I'm pleased with your guidance and final output. Thanks a lot dude.

Thank you sooo much. I was having this exact problem. I did what you suggested and my phone works. Thanks!
After i rooted/unlocked my phone I booted it up and it got stuck on the nexus splash screen. I did find a solution to the problem which was to put it back to factory settings. alright, great, problem solved, but when i go to do the reset i come across errors as seen in the picture. Anyone know how to fix?
I had that issue when downloading the file through the toolkit. I went and manually got the images from google, placed them in the correct folder within the kit and flashed successfully.

dont use a toolkit. do it manually like what ^^ said
I recommend flash SuperSu zip file via CWM Recovery.
It's totally easy and safe.
I had this issue. Factory reset/clear caches should fix it.

factory resetting clears your cache, as well as dalvik cache.
Not sure what I did wrong.
Backed up phone
unlocked phone
downloaded CWM
put SU on phone
went into put loader and flashed ( I think ) CWM
then when I go into recover mode the phone gets stuck on google logo.
Cleared cache etc. but nada.
Downloading factory image now....on a very slow connection and will take 3 hours. Any way around this? What are my options.
I'm totally stuck here too. I have the exact same as the OP.
I've manually placed the stock image in the folder structure. It's starts to do stuff, reboots and then the toolkit says Waiting for Device (forever).
Nothing happens after this.
This all occurred while I was installing my Google Apps. I stupidly installed Chainfire3D, and installed the drivers. It restarted and this never ending cycle happened. I only read that they weren't compatible with ICS or Jellybean afterwards
Any help is greatly appreciated. :crying:
Hi guys
I am stuck on the google logo, I have cleared dalvik etc unmounted / mounted system but cannot get to data partion
I have wiped the SD card now I cannot connect to copy a rom back to the device... it just hangs on Google logo.

There is a file contain in the factory image download called flash-all.bat Double click on this file while your phone is connected in bootloader mode and it should automatically flash the stock image for you

i also have this problem.
I tried to flash stock factory image with the .bat file but no success. I am stuck at the nexus bootlogo...
Can still enter recovery and fastboot.
Edit:
solved my problem. I went to CWM Recovery, and checked in "mounts and storage" that none of the partitions were mounted. Cache was mounted in my case. I unmounted Cache and rebooted.
Phone boots fine now!
