Relatively new to the Android world. These Forums are awesome, its how I've managed to do everything i have. So first off, Nice Job!!! My Fascinate is my first Android phone. Had it for about a month so far. Already Bricked one, Even pushed stock files with Odin to no avail. But that's neither here nor there. Any who, pushed DJ05 Modem with Odin, Installed JT1134's SuperClean V. 0.7 (DJ05), and using JT1134's Voodoo 5 Kernel. In "About Phone" it says Baseband is "S:i500.04 V.DJ05" and Build is "SCH-I500.DJ05" and from what i understand Voodoo 5 is a DJ05 Kernel. So just wondering if anyone had some suggestions as to why i have no Haptic Feedback or any vibration functions at all for that matter. Aside from that i love it. GPS syncs much faster, Super smooth and fluid. Love the set up, just wish i had vibration. Any ideas?
what kernel did you install, as in the filename? Just to make sure it is in fact a voodoo5 kernel. Also, it'd probably be best to ask this in the same place you found DJ05.
Search...
You need a DJ05 kernel, there are some stupidfast kernels that are DJ05, and the newest voodoo's should be.

Yeah it's Voodoo 5. Downloaded it through Rom Manager. Said "Voodoo 5, 12/3, Stable"
Good idea, i'll definately check out IRC.
Any1 figure out the issue. I have the same problem running stupidfast 1.54 kernal and super dark 1.1
Install the voodoo in the dev section. Make sure its voodoo5 by jt

Considering 1.54 is a DJ05 kernel.
And Superdark 1.1 is a DI01 rom
I would see where your issues come into play.
Superdark DJ05 v1 HERE.
And it would make me question if you flashed the DJ05 modem in odin. For things to work right you need all 3 pieces of the puzzle. DJ05 modem, DJ05 rom, and DJ05 kernel.
good day.
I too am not getting haptic feedback. I did all 3 steps and have sense tried a different kernel. I guess when I get up in the morning I am going to start everything over from scratch if no one has any ideas. we will see how that works.

I've searched, but couldn't find a clear answer. I'm rooted running JT's voodoo kernel (v4 I think) one of his ROMS, and the Matted Blue theme. Before I begin this process, I'm just curious if I need to disable voodoo/restore to stock before I apply the DJ05 update/voodoo5 (yes, I have the steps, and am competent enough to mod my phone).
I've got most of the requisite files, and was just going to do voodoo5 though the ROM manager when the base DJ05 update finished.
Thanks.
In my experience, it is alwaus a good idea to disable voodoo begorr changing rom or kernel. And have heard that some people could not get dj to take without disable_lagfix. Good luck

Dj05
Just my two cents and maybe it has to do with competence, lol, but I spent about 3 hrs yesterday removing voodoo to reinstall it because I didn't disable it initially when adding jt's clean .07 rom. Voodoo5 looked like it installed and it allowed me to use my bluetooth and a new theme I had just installed, but my haptic response wasn't there and I was getting a lot of FC's. I tried every basic fix I know and finally thought i got it only to get a quadrant score of 900.
tl;dr
I would uninstall any voodoo you have before you upgrade to DJ05
if you're going from an old voodoo to the newest voodoo, you will likely have problems if you don't disable it beforehand.

Does this apply if you are only going from an older voodoo5 based kernel to a newer version of that same kernel?
Thanks guys. I disabled, and updated to DJ without a hitch (so far at least). Probably hit up Voodoo5 a little later tonight. Do need to find a DJ kernel so I can get my haptic back though...
nmyeti, please do not quote me on this, but in my searches I did see people mentioning they were upgrading between Voodoo5 kernals without disabling. I probably would, just in case.
If you already have the dj05, can you install the voodoo 5 kernel over it with no problems?

If you loaded clean .7, you don't have a DJ05 kernel. Either load the voodoo5 or a DJ05 kernel(there are a few in rom manager) or load a Clean .3 - .5 - they have kernel built into them. Since you have your old DI01 kernel and DJ05, your haptic is broken.

I loaded the 11/29 kernel for DJ05 when i first flashed clean .7. This kernel had some strange audio popping etc, so i went to a geeknic version and that kernel had the same issues. I finally decided to try JT's voodoo 12/1 and that resolved the issue. I've upgraded to 12/2 without problem and then yesterday updated to 12/3 and all seems well.
I have a friend getting a fascinate, and he wants me to root / upgrade him to froyo. I will not have much time with his phone, so i cannot try or test multiple roms. I am familiar with the captivate roms (i have one), but i haven't a clue about the fascinate scene.
Which rom provides the most stable froyo user experience on the fascinate? stability is the most important for me because i do not want to have to be reflashing his phone often.
Thanks.
It's quite obvious you don't know much about the Fascinate scene, considering there isn't a Froyo ROM for it yet. There isn't any official Froyo ROM for any Galaxy S device for US carriers as far as I'm aware you either.
Oh ok. We have some pretty stable leaks (even 2.2.1) for the captivate, vibrant, i9000 so i was assuming the fascinate was the same.
In that case is there a rom that enables the mobile AP, cleans the bloatware, and gets voodoo or the ultimate lag fix running on a fascinate?

The best ROM is probably jt's cleaned up version of the DJ05 leak. For kernel's, there are Geeknik's StupidFast and a bunch of stable/test voodoo5 kernels available for DJ05. If you want to go the stock route jt has a clean version of the DI01 rom in the development forum, and for kernel's I'd probably go with one of the last of geeknik's stupidfast kernels for DI01, as DJ05 and DI01 kernel's aren't fully compatible with the other build's roms.

I just came to the Fascinate scene from the Nexus One section and the most help you can give him is to go to IRC. webchat.freenode.com i believe. They have the leak of the newest software that fixes gps, removes bloatware, etc. You can find how to enable mobile AP on here or just tell him to use Wireless Tether for Root Users.
Closed.
Get Blackhole 2.2, which is NOT froyo. Its DJ05, with options in the rom manager that let's you choose which themes, kernels, apps, and stuff you want. Check it out, it should be avaliable if you ask on irc.
Rockin' DJ05, Minimal Icognito, with Voodoo5
I've asked on a couple boards and can't find an answer/solution.
Ever since I went to EB01 I've had one problem only...that is when I reboot ,for any reason, all my apps start force closing when it starts back up...i then have to re-flash the rom to fix it and re-install sgml the apps again.
Am I the only person that had this problem? Is there a fix for it? I'm currently on SC2.6, but have been on 2.4 & 2.5 with the same problem...i even went back to stock eclair and re-rooted and went thru the process again with no luck.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Try the odin eb01 tar. After you flash the all in one odin file, you should be fine. It has to do with a corrupted dbdata partition.
Make sure you use pda when flaking. After you can flash whatever rom you like.
Ah...i didn't do the all in one package...i just pushed the eb01 modem via odin and flagged the rom separately...could that be the culpret?

Yes, this is always smart to do.
Especially because the eb01 tars are not true all in one tars.
I've had the same issue, and I have tried reflashing the ROM and the EB01 modem. I also pushed the new red CMW, and still.. no luck. I will post back if going to DI01 and then to EB01 works. Right now, I am running FrankenClean 2.5, red CMW for Froyo, and EB01 modem.
When you reboot, all third party apps fc, and on boot, several apps fc before I personally open them. Also, many of the settings are wiped (brightness, volume, etc). BUT.. the home screens are the same, and all the apps still appear (but don't run). It seems as if something is corrupted or something, but I still need to dig further.
Does this information help? I hope I can find a solution becuase I much prefer Froyo superclean to stock DL09.
yep...thats the same thing that was going on with me...how did you go to eb01? seperate modem, rom, or the all in one package?
Thanks to RacerFXD, the problem is fixed! All you have to do is push the all in one odin package found here:
http://redirectingat.com/?id=1629X5...roms-w-root-new-clockwork-updated-2-11-a.html
then reboot into CWR and reflash whatever ROM you were running and all is well.
This is the Debloated/Deodexed version BTW. It's the one i pushed. I guess it really doesn't matter which one you do, seeing as how you'll probably flash a different ROM anyways...
Fixed
My issue is fixed (for now). Apparently all I needed to do was to go back to stock, and then I needed to reapply the changes. Something last time must have gotten messed up, but all is good now. If it comes back, I will use the EB01 all-in-one which should be quicker.
Here is my process:
Flash DI01 All-in-one package via Odin (adryn's Odin package)
Flash EB01 Modem via Odin (separate "just" modem)
Flash CMW red via Odin (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021)
Factory Reset/Clear Cache/Clear Dalvik Cache
Flash Superclean 2.5 (aka FrankenClean 2.5)
Thanks,

Wow, that was an experience. Literally weeks of perusing the forums until I had a grasp of the concepts, then dove in. Rooted my stock phone and flashed to sc 2.6 non voodoo. Total noob at Android and it all works so far. Thanks to all involved with this site, it required dozens of threads to figure it all out. The most confusion came out of the fact that CWM gets removed when rebooting from stock. Another week of research and the themes will start. Thanks again.

Help please!
Just installed voodoo lagfix.
And it is going through a bootloop... I see the Vibrant boot screen, then Galaxy S Gt-i9000 boot screen, and some lady saying "not enough space on partition." Does this loop over and over.
What did I do wrong?
How can I resolve?
Was running deodexed/rooted KB5.
I just went into recovery and I'm disabling voodoo, lets see what that does.
Well with voodoo disabled my phone boots up again.
What am I doing wrong with voodoo enabled?
strange, most of the stuff on my phone is gone, I don't even have an Android Market now.
Which kernel did you flash? there's one kernel specificaly for 2.2 KB5 that is absolute stock with the only difference being that it has voodoo enabled...
It worked for me! First, flash the stock 2.2 UVKB5 deodexed/rooted ROM, then flash the stock kernel with voodoo enabled, there shouldn't be any issues...

It should be safe to flash this kernel with voodoo disabled if you're still on stock Froyo 2.2 KB5 deodexed. After flashing this, it'll take like 10 min to do its magic (you'll hear the woman's voice telling you the status).

I suggest doing a full wipe and Odin back to stock!!! from there, flash 2.2 kb5 and then the kernel with voodoo.
BTW, how are you flashing the kernel? I used an app called SGS Kernel Flasher, you can download it from the market...

Kernels

Glitch (head dev is sick so it is taking a little for them to catch up with new commits

Tried reading up on modems but got a little confused. The captivate used to allow direct modem flash through cwm or built directly into rom. Are there any specifics to worry about with modem flashing using odin?
I love CM7 With Glitch kernel v12.
But im currently trying out OMFGB while we wait for a new cm7 nightly.
as far as modems i dunno ive never had to change one
I guess my question about the modem is, when changing is there a progression change that needs to be done, or can I just choose one and flash via odin? When I had my captivate, the modems were built into the roms, so there was no reason for modem flashing.

chose one and flash via odin. Although most roms for the fassy have a modem included... but give the ec09 or ed05 a try... the ec09 has been the best for me. I have tried every modem from dl09, ec01,ed01,ed03,ed04,ed05, and ec09.
ok so the modems do flash along with the rom the way the captivates do. thanks for the info.

No not really. Usually the fully packed "ED05" or "EC09" (or any of those other older ones like that) roms do include the modem. But the cooked roms usually don't include the modem (I believe). Most definitely not CM7 or MIUI - those keep whatever modem you had before.
In which case, choose a modem (usually people are going between EC09 or ED05) and flash in Odin. It's super simple.

Yeah, thanks I understand. I didnt mean that they always come prepacked with a modem, but the ability to directly flash a modem built into a rom is there. My incredible required modems to be flashed through the bootloader on a more dangerous hardware level. I had the captivate and completely understand the methods, I just needed re-education in the samsung world. Thanks for the response.
Couldn't be happier with my decision and am currently running pwgb v.3. All it needs now is a voodoo kernel. What modem do you guys find works the best? I am currently running the ec09.
After bouncing around on just about all options, pw and ec09 turned out best for me in stability, function and battery with solid performance as well.
Would like a little voodoo though.
