i updated to the 2.2 when it leaked ( of course before reading any of the posts in the thread ) and ive noticed my battery seems to last less then before and my gps isnt working ( also a bit of lag when switching screens )... so bassically what i want to know is what is the easiest and most pain free way of flashing back ( would a hard reset work ?) ive seen some program called odin but the download links ive found dont seems to work......
Theres a zip in the development section that will flash both the rom and modem back to stock

Heya everyone
Just a small idea that came to my mind.
I know there are a few standalone apps to flash kernals and i was thinking
Is an odin flashing app possible on the sgs?
Keeping away from the pc restriction, why cant flashing be done directly from the phone? Flashing roms/kernals on the go would be amazingly helpful for testers who cant be around a pc

Please remember to post in the correct section.
This belongs in questions and answers.
But i believe this is what you are after.

Flashing kernels from within android
sorry for posting in the wrong section, since it was development related thought it would be ok to post it here
that is just a kernal flasher which i am aware of
but i was suggesting more than just a kernal flasher
is it even possible to have such an app?
that way we could fix our sgs stability issues on the move n roll back to a stable froyo rom and custom kernal too
In theory it should be possible to flash from the external sd card from recovery.
Hello
i just updated my galaxy s to the leaked 2.3.3 build from a danish 2.2.1 build i tryed reflashing it since i had problems with no data connection and errors in phone part ( though it worked, just a bit buggy) the reflash and repartion that i choose to do since i had voodoo kennel on my phone before did not help either, so now my phone cant use data connection
anyone have any suggestions? maybe it is a common error? i tryed googling and looking a bit but did not see anything.
I really appreciate the help, another thing i would love would be a 2.3.3 build with danish keyboard/speech in it.
Are you saying that you flashed to a phone that was lagfixed .
If so its broke your phone Undo lagfix before flash is rule one .
You will need to flash stock rom using Odin to get a working phone .
jje
Okay but i flashed the version that was out in the forum with Odin, what Rom should i flash to get back to a state where i can flash 2.3.3 with Odin again? and will i need to re partion, i kinda thought that would take care of the laggfix?
I'm not sure what your problem is. Just take the files from the JVK Rom (PDA, Modem, CSC) add a pit file (512.pit or what you want) and select repartition and click start. Don't need to disable lagfix if you do it that way.

Hmm okay the thing is i already did exactly that and still no data connection :S
Maybe i need to flash a kennel without laggfix?
I have now flashed samsung stock kennel for 3.3.3 , i have reflashed 2.2.1 the version i get from my kies in Denmark and everything works in 2.2.1, now i tryed reflashing 2.3.3 and i still got the same problem as before any help would be much appreciated
Sounds like you need to put in your telco specific APN to get data working.

okay sounds like something that might work, where can i find this apn?
where do i find this file?
It's not a file, it's the name/details of a server on your provider's network. If you didn't back up your original firmware, you'll probably have to call your network or check their website.
Word to the wise - reposting the same question after 7 minutes won't win you too many friends
Danish 2.3.3 keyboard - best to wait until the Nordic firmware is released/leaked.
Thanks the VPN from my network provider solved it!
btw i did not repost any question it was not the same question and i only posted course i was still in doubt.
again thank you all, properly never would have throught of VPN Settings by myself
No problem, glad you sorted it out.
Sorry, but I cannot post this in the development area because I do not have enough posts yet, but anybody know why after putting this rom on now when I try to access Market, all I get is that there is a network connection Error, the Interent works fine and I have a good wireless connection ?

Excellent, clearing the cache sorted it, cheers !
Now just got to try and get rid of this yellow triangle thingy, but not sure how, is there full instructions somewhere on here ?
Theres to ways of getting the yellow trangle of use a jig look on ebay i paid £3.00 for mine that also resets the binary counter bk to 0. Or flash the stock ke7 kernal bk but as iv not flashed the lightning rom i dont no if it needs its custom kernal read through the lightning thread

I'm currently working in china so can't really order from ebay as twice already I've never received the goods, and that was even when the seller was in HK !!
What I don't understand is the Lightning Room posts say the Stock Kernal or something is included, so why have to reflash back with it ?
and also where do I get just the stock kernal from ? when I was on the latest KE7 update ?
I have been noticing that my google maps acts a little funny but still gives me right directions. The turn by turn doesn't seem to work anymore for example; doesnt tell me when to turn and etc.. And also it always says searching for GPS at the bottom doesnt matter if im inside or outside a building, which was not like that before GB update. Any fixes?
I also had this problem , I factory reset and the problem was still there. I ended up rooting my device and getting an app called faster fix which fixes the gps problems.
I don't know if thats the way you want to go, it was the only way I got it to work properly , plus you can lose all network bloat if you have a branded device
Also I saw this which may be of interest?

Something else on gps , a bit more on the hardware side though.

I had to downgrade first and then root . This would be good enough for you to get the faster fix app , and who knows you may go custom for a while
Try this post out , it contains all the info you need on rooting , and many more things besides.

I am having a few problems with rooting my Galaxy S.
I have looked for hours at different threads about different root methods and different kernels but I am not sure which root method and kernel to use.
I am running Gingerbread 2.3.3 XVJVH. Can somebody give me some advice and provide me with a link to rooting instructions with your preferred method please?
Thanks
RobWill116
Hy!
I'm using already rooted kernel's like SpeedMod.You can try with this---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044519(but this is for 2.3.4 but should work on 2.3.3)
I have tried all root versions with JVP, almost to the point to brick the phone and I came to the following conclusion why do all the kernels remove the bootanimation sound????
I reinstalled the original stock JVH because JVP has a huge battery drain not explicitely on the usage settings but with the same usage of applications on a daily routine the phone wouldn't last 14 hours. With JPY and now JVH, the battery last almost 48 hours.
I just want to have root to install the daily briefing from JVP and to calibrate the GPS but there is no rooting method nor kernel which stick to stock rom implementing only root, busybox and su and the rest to remain untouched....either the bootanimation sound is removed or you get extra tweaks when you are not using it...so anynone for a minimalist rooting?
Try fuguroot.
Tried it. it removes the boot animation sound, so all the other root method...
You could try with one-click root but i'm not sure that will work on 2.3.3

it doesn't work either...see my desperation?
Flash speedmod kernel
Apply root from recovery
Flash stock kernel
Or flash ramad's deodexed jph with's pre rooted
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
just put the boot sound back yourself!
Thanks for all the replies! I think I'm going to give fuguroot a go sounds the easiest haha
Just wanted to check firstly, is there.no root with JVH? Just the fact a lot of people have said it has the best battery life

Hmm I'm using Chainfires CF-Root. It works perfectly with jvh. Although you need to use odin to flash the kernel. But I don't think it's a problem for you if you know how to flash stock rom.

Thanks I might give that a go as well. I new to SGS flashing, had X10 but O2 couldn't fix it and didn't have anymore in stock so gave me SGS instead! I'm sure I'll find some instructions anyway - unless you want me help me out further and post a link
With pleasure.

Note! You really should be sure that you are on JVH and please read the thread I linked to you carefully. In cause you would brick your phone. I bricked my phone a couple of times already by doing something else stupidly. However here in Finland Samsung is kind enough to fix it for me always. Even I explained that I bricked it by flashing some other roms myself
Again If you are indeed on JVH. then:
1st. head to this thread by ChainFire himself.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108&highlight=CF-ROOT
2nd. search for "CF-Root-XW_NEE_JVH-v3.2-CWM3RFS.zip" to download.
3rd. Unzip the file.
4th. open odin and load this file as PDA.
5th. put your phone into download mode and then connect to your computer.
6th. flash and done.
One thing you might want to know. ChainFire Root removed the booting sound as well. But it keeps the original boot animation.
