Froyo-hype - Wildfire General

Hey, like everyone else I've been eagerly awaiting froyo. From everything I've read the performance improvement over 2.1 is ment to be great. Gotta ask if that's ment 2b true for wildfire? I've just finished testing modaco's 2.2 port against my backup of stock 2.1, both set up exactly the same, niether overclocked and both on stock kernels os benchmark and linpack show both to be almost identical? Can that be right?
Just to note... I'm not complaining bout modacos port, its a great Rom, really smooth and everything works great and big thanx to the dev.

If you want speed, compare it to openfire.
Sense gets the phone to its knees on both eclair and froyo. It's a big resource hog.

How can you back up the stock rom?

I dunno. Froyo is working amazing on my Galaxy S.
I'm just waiting for 2.2 or 2.3 on my gf's wildfire. Both these are suppose to optimize the phone so it performs faster in terms of processing.

best 2.2 rom?

whats the best 2.2 rom available atm? fast and stable is what im after
for speed and stability, you cant go past openfire. thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783024. more detail in the thread
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
with sense? looks good though B)
openfire is completely AOSP. and so far I haven't found a fast or stable sense rom. lol. there was some recent sense one whose name I've forgotten, that was supposedly fast and stable.haven't tried it myself yet. theres a sticky thread in the wildfire development forum, have a look at that
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I doubt it that fast (as comparing with Openfire) Sense-based ROM exist today. All new ROMs based on new HTC ROM are not JIT-Enabled. But the devs are working on it.
I also recommend trying OpenFire. Damn fast and light ROM.
The best Froyo Rom that works perfect is the villainrom (www.villainrom.co.uk) the only problem is with the live wallpapers. Everything else works (Fm Radio, HTC aplications. app2sd)
Yea... Even though villain rom was mostly/completely based on wildpuzzle lol.
Anyway, try wildpuzzle if you want a good sense rom or sinaabh whatever its called.

I'm using sinaabh right now actually, it is the most legendary sense ROM."I can't believe it's not stock!" (Lol) this one is definitely a keeper, at least until a stable gingerbread ROM comes out

openfire was fast and simple, still a bit buggy though.
cyanogenmod is what i'm sticking to atm, it's updated frequently

Fastest rom?

I was just wondering, whats the fastest rom around?
(Preferably with Sense).
I tried Cyanogen, and a Froyo 2.2 rom, but they all were just sloppy and slow.
I think the fastest in openfire. But everybody has their opinions
hello,
I tried every single Rom Forum identically, and CyanogenMod is really the best!

No -.-''
The fastest is OpenFire -.-''
i think is cm
Openfire is faster as it's just based from AOSP and no addons. Cyanogen is fast but it includes extra features which makes it awesome.
With me Rom of Danne_jo is number One.
The fastest sense rom is SUnAaBh
And yeah, openfire is the fastest overall

Definately openfire.
The fastest sense rom would be sunabh.
The fastest AOSP rom would be openfire.

sorry to bump quite an old thread but how much faster are sunabh or openfire compared to the original wildfire rom? my girlfriend has one and really wants to see a performance improvement since everyting is quite laggy... are there any benchmark/quadrant tests or something?

They are really much faster.
The stock rom is pretty slow because of HTC Sense.
I really like CyanogenMod 7 nighty builds.. They are fast, look good, nice features so i recommend you go for CyanogenMod.. Or if its just speed that you want without the goodies then go for the others..
Pawnbox is right! I´m using CM7 Build #19 since yesterday and my phone rocks!
It`s very fast an it´s based on 2.3 (Gingerbread). But read the thread carefuly the newest versions still have problems with the phone.apk. The last stable is Build #19.
Have fun

Virtuous run gingerbread?

Does virtuous run gingerbread. I tried searching on here and googling all I find are compare and contrast between. Does viruous run gingerbread? I really want to use sense ui but want to also have ginger. Should I download?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Virtuous is still Froyo. From my understanding, there won't be a Sense Gingerbread ROM, until HTC releases a phone which has that. Then the developers here can dump the ROM and port it to other phones like the Vision.
Thanks for the response!

I don't care what anyone says, but I still think Froyo runs better on the G2 than Gingerbread. Better battery life, stable and quick. What more could you ask for?

Hate to break it to you but CM7 runs extremely fast and has better battery life than when I ran CM6 or stock rooted froyo lol.
/2 cents
They seem to run equally when i tried both.
Now to answer the OP's question, virtuous does not run gingerbread.. yet. when the gingerbread rom from HTC is released for the desire Z during spring, and someone dumps the rom or HTC releases it, then virtuous should have it.

CM7 does run really fast, I totally agree with you. However, I have had the crappiest battery life running several iterations of CM7 (RC1, nightlies), and I was only getting about 8 hours of battery life. Virtuous gives me 18-24 hours of battery life running the Standard kernel at 1.0 GHz (with decent usage). I'm not bashing CM7 as I've been a long-time user of Cyanogen ROMs, I just need a ROM that gives me good performance with great battery life.

Best sense ROM?

Just curious and wondering what is the best sense rom in terms of batter life?

I have virtuous running on one of the phones in the house, it runs great.
Lol just try the roms for yourself my friend and see which one you like

I could do that.. but id like to hear what the general public says before adventuring into the world of sense roms. I'm running virtuous Rom right now. It's okay. Seems little laggy. Should be faster on the g2 then the evo which i have in front of me as we speak. Id like to say the G2 is much faster than the evo.

Are you using the standard or advanced kernel, and if the latter what are you OC'ing your phone to? I'm using the standard kernel, and my phone doesn't seem laggy at all. There are the occasional moments of slowness, but nothing to the point where I would consider it troublesome to me.

I'm using the advanced kernel, overclocked to 1.0ghz. I like the TeamVillian Sense rom, cant stand the bugy landscape mode..
Does anyone know of a Sense-based ROM which has the Bluetooth A2DP bitpool size problem fixed?
Andre
Virtuous ROM 1.0.1 with Standard Kernel @ 1GHz for me. No lag what-so-ever and working great! lovin' it
The best Sense ROM is the one that uninstalls itself and loads CM7 or some AOSP variant
I'm using gingersense 2.3, so far so good

Id wait a few days as now Sense and Gingerbread work together so there are going to be alot of releases based on that.
does anyone know if there is word of a stock update to Gingerbread 2.3 for the Desire Z. and if there are going to be roms made with Sense and Gbread, will they be available in ROM Manager. I am very interested in this GingerSense. where is it available.
Thanks.

[Q] thinking of sellig my glacier for a .....

g2 do you guys think this is a good idea... i dont like the hardware layout on the glacier ... the screen is small for a onboard keyboard and the glacier is overal really slow for a 1ghz processor and i hear the g2 is pretty fast even though it has a 800mhz processor any ideas adice???
The G2 is has a less powerful processor (MSM7230 vs the MT4G's MSM8255), has less RAM (512 vs the MT4G's 768), has a smaller screen (3.7" vs the MT4G's 3.8"), and is thicker with a crappy hinge. The MT4G is better in every way. If yours is "slow" for a 1GHz phone, then it's your setup.

if you think that its laggy on the MT4g try running the same on the G2 and you'll be even slower lols.. i can concur that screen real estate get diminished due to the on screen keyboard though.

Um, I've had no problem with that on CM7. Choose a good ROM by good devs and you won't have anything to worry about. Stock ROM is slow and has all sorts of added crap, which I'm sure is more conducive to bugs (and LAG!) than an AOSP-based ROM.
