Some days ago I updated my XDA I to the current german ROM Version avaiable at O2online.de (it's 3.19.01 GER with radio v4.21), because I hoped that wmodem is included at that version. Unfortunately it wasn't, although it is included at an english version with a minor version number. As there were also some other disappointing things, I decided to write a letter to O2. Here's a part of their answer:

I'll try to translate it into english:
As a poll in germany showed, that most users didn't ask for a modem feature at the XDA I (in opposite to british polls), it is not included at the XDA I. But by and by we got to know that such a feature is used and therefore now it is included at the XDA II. An upgrade for the XDA I is not possible as there are some hardware components missing.
The service for the XDA I will be continued as a matter of course. There have already been some upgrades and also an upgrade to WIN CE 2003 is still planned. Possibly one will therefore be able to use the XDA I as a modem.
A fax functionality will be not possible in a near future. It doesn't work due to some properties of the network (in that case it's the homezone-funktionality). By now it was not possible to solve that problem.

It's quite interesting, that some necessary hardware components are not necessary any more just by doing a software upgrade...
Try this....
The T-Mobile Version of such an update is here:
www.mathiaspohl.de/mda
This version includes the wmodem file.
Enjoy !

I currently have the Special edition rom for my T-mobile MDA (XDA-1), I have been using the WMODEM via a serial cable to my laptop for a long time, but now I would like to upgrade the firmware to PPC2003 from T-Mobile website, does the download from http://www.mathiaspohl.de/mda include WMODEm for PPC2003?

Maybe, you have a idea? Could I install a ROM over the MicroSD card?

You can´t flash ROM over the MicroSD Card. I think that there is nothing you can do - so you need to send it to Acer.

Just searched for some News about the EU Release of Android 2.1 and it looks like we have another date to mark at our calenders
Update am 18. Juni in Deutschland
Did we really need another one of these threads, you couldnt use any of the 15 others already made about the release of the 2.1 update?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647501&page=44
maybe in this one, which contains the same information you gave, only 13 hours before you posted it.

German:
Hallo,
Bye
is it rooted. and do you have a custom recovery?
Here are the steps:
First root your G1 by using this guide:
[Guide] (8-18-11) G1 How-to: Root, Un-Root & Everything in-between
Second flash SPL/radio by following this guide:
2708+ enabled kernel [14MB ram with radio 2.22.27.08/2.22.28.25 & hboot 1.33.0013d]
One you are done you can flash any ROM you wish. All of the ROMs are more or less the same capacity and speed. You'll just have to try them to see which one you like.
Hello,
I have rooted my M3 and installed TWRP greatslon mod. My pad offered me now a new update but it fails to install it. After the update is downloaded my device enters TWRP but then the installation process aborts.
What do you need to do to update a rooted M3 with TWRP? Is it even possible?
Thank you for any kind of advice.

U know that u have to flash the Stock Recovery?
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-DL00 using XDA Labs
No, wasn't aware of it. Is there a manual for this step? Do I lose my root access?
Hi there, yes you have to flash back a stock rom (This is a method which worked for me:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/me...-bluetooth-t3740675/post75616187#post75616187)
Of course, you will loose root access but you will be able to update. Afterwards, just follow the root process as you did before.
Flashed the stock recovery, but update still fails for some reason (stops at around 25%, no matter with which method). It's a pity that you can't use TWRP to flash the update.

Thanks anyway.
