Can someone tell me please where is the option that was in the curtain drop down to change from mounted sd to unmounted sd so that it connects to the cpu when there is a usb wire connected. After the froyo 2.2 update with the dk28 modem its not there..
Im starting to get tired of removing the usb cable and putting it back in just to get the mass storage option to pull up.
Any help is appreciated
I'm not sure what your question is, but when I plug in the USB cable it is in the drop down notification window with DK28.
If I click on charge only when I plug in the usb cable, I cant seem to find the location to put the phone into usb storage unless I remove the usb cable and choose usb storage..
I used to just swipe the curtain down and choose usb storage from there but it doesnt seem to be located there any more.
Is there another location to turn usb storage on other then removing the usb cable and plugging it back in?
Try turning on USB Debugging. After turning on Debugging, the box won't pop up, but you can enable mounting through the notification bar.
Menu->Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging

I was actually going to post this fix.. That actually worked you have to turn debugging on in order to see that option.

I can't get my computer to detect my fascinate unless its plugged in the back..
The first time I plugged it in the front it seemed to work (showed up in my computer) but i think i didn't safely eject.. i also tried to root it which wasn't working with the one click method.
Basically it just doesn't mount, i press mount and then go back to the option to where it should said "unmount" but it just says mount again
It shows up on my computer and am able to transfer files when i plug it into the back of my computer but when i did it first it immediately said "THIS DEVICE CAN RUN FASTER WITH A FASTER USB PORT" I can tell the port is running slow because its saying its going to take over an hour to transfer 2.5gbs of music to the phone now.
anything i can do ?
when i plugged it into the back usb port all the stuff was
Chances are the USB port just isn't strong enough. The back ones are usually the most reliable.
There's nothing you can really do about it. Maybe get a USB extender if your cord isn't long enough?
Thunderclaww is correct. my guess is your computer is over a couple years old. The usb ports in the rear are supplied more power then its front counterparts. If your computer was newer it should have enough power for the front in which case there is something wrong with the computer, power related and you wouldn't want to put your phone on a possibly failing or improperly grounded usb port. Do yourself a favor and stick to the rear ports.
Not all USB ports are powered. My work Dell laptop only has powered USB in back. Power is required here. Just use the back ports, and don't worry You might want to get an extension cable if that is inconvenient.

You have to "Mount" the Phone. This is under: Settings--> USB Settings. It will ask you for "Mass Storage" or "Media Sync". Mass Storage will basically give you access to your SD Card.
Also, if you are expecting to see the phone as well or use it as a "Hotspot", you need to go into Applications (Yes, Applications) and choose "Development" in there, there is a "USB Debugging". When you select it, it will give a "Warning", but this will allow you to really connect your phone. For this too you will need to Galaxy S Driver.
Samsung Fascinate Not Detected By PC
If all other suggestions do not work, try replacing your connector with a new or working one. A defective connector was the cause why my Samsung Fascinate could not be detected by my PC. Hope this saves you some of your precious time. Good luck.
I have an issue with usb connecting. When connected to computer my phone starts to charge and that's all.... I have only one icon in status menu and it's debugging one or none if debugging is off. I don't get the option to select charge only, disk drive or tethering. I tried to pull down status menu but can't do nothing from there, also I have tried to check and uncheck default action type when usb is connected but nothing happens and also setting phone to ask me what to do when usb is connected. I still get phone charged but nothing more.
Any idea is welcomed.
Cheers.
Try a usb on the pc and not a hub

I'm using the Google I/O Limited Edition Samsung Galaxy 10.1" tablet. Connected and developed with the device fine on my Windows 7 machine until the 3.1 update last night.
Now, when plugging in the USB, the new USB debugging icon (the Android bee) shows up in the tablet's tray. However, Windows 7 doesn't find the device. I've tried power cycling my PC and the tablet. I've tried disabling USB debugging several times. I've installed Kies, but it does not successfully install the required drivers. I attempted to install the driver listed on Samsung's page for the device, but it didn't appear to do anything.
I was actively developing an app for tablets, and this has ground my progress to a halt. Anyone else experiencing this? Have a fix?
Have you tried a different USB port (on hub) or a direct USB port on the motherboard?

Yeah, that doesn't do anything.
Well mine wasnt working all i did was take the usb out uncheck usb debuggin and plugged it back in and it worked..
Yeah, I've tried enabling/disabling USB debugging, plugging and unplugging the USB. Still nothing.
Again, the behavior I'm getting is that the tablet is indicating that USB debugging is on when I plug the device in. I get the USB debugging icon in the tablet's system tray. But Windows 7 just isn't seeing it. This sure seems to be a driver issue.
Finally got it working. It took doing a factory reset on the device.
I had to turn off usb debugging, then plug usb back in.... tablet said that I had to disable bluetooth, disabled and it worked pefectly! So could it possibly be a problem with bluetooth!?!?
is there an easier way to flip the connection to connect via usb for kies? i want to dump files in, but noticed once i hit the home button, it turns off usb connection. i would then have to unplug and replug the usb in order to turn it back on. shouldn't there be some kind of option in the interface to turn usb connection back on?
I'm trying to unlock boot loader and root my device, But for some reason when I plug my nexus player into my computer no drivers get installed and under device manager there is no android device or anything of that nature under any of the categories. I've made sure developer debugging and USB debugging are enabled and turned on, but nothing seems to work. I even installed google usb drivers if that has anything to do with it. So does anyone know why its not showing up?

Most likely it's the USB cable or OTG cable, one of the two could be faulty. Another thing, try different USB ports on your PC. Try turning the USB debugging on and off several times, USB cable and OTG cable must be attached to your PC, while doing this. Remember now, your PC must also be authorized for the connection. You should see a white pop up, just check mark the block, click on OK.

Yes try different USB ports and different USB cables. My PC didn't recognize the NP when using the front USB ports, but it works fine when using the back ports.

It shows up if I turn debugging on and off a lot but when restarting while rooting it wont show up again and I think this is the reason my rooting isnt working right could that be a problem?
