Hi there,
I,m trying to root my samsung galaxy S I9000XXJPP but it doesn't work.
After searching the forum i found this (text below)
Note: Most Froyo firmwares do no longer have recovery 2e but instead have recovery 3e. This means that they cannot install unverified update.zip files (which we cannot generate). In order to successfully apply updates on those firmwares, you need to install a kernel with 2e recovery (like the one used by chainfire for rooting)
I'm a noob to android so i dont know how to install a kernel with 2e recovery could anyone provide me a link/guide?
Thanx in advance,
Martijn
check out chainfires CF-Root thread and you will get all the infos you need
Thanx a lot dude

HTC Incredible 2 Stock ( For Now)
1. Install acer recovery installer from market. This apk is free.
2. Keep with you the .zip or .image file of recovery which you want to install and place it in sd card.
3. Run the apk and select install from sd card.
4. If apk do not detect .zip file in your sd card than extract recovery.image from that file and store it in sd card.

You can get custom recovery files from tegraowners.com or any other custom recovery in development section.

The real answer is if you have ICS, to install a custom recover or custom kernel you must have an unlocked bootloader.
The following resources are related to the new bootloader, a quick read of the OPs of the first two are highly recommended, even if you install with the third link. (This is to have a highlevel idea of what you are changing on your device, as it will help you find what you need to look closer at in future if something goes wrong, or possibly prevent a problem in the first case)

civato's guide
Afterota tool (windows users bootloader install tool)
If you already have the unlocked bootloader installed, but can't boot into recovery:
This is likely because you have a stock ICS rom overwritting recovery with the stock recovery in every boot; either use fastboot or (if you have root) a program such as acer recovery installer to force the install of a recovery and immediately reboot into it. (Most bootloader installers will also install a recovery that you can immediately boot into)
Once in recovery you can backup/restore/or install a rom modified to prevent the overwrite of recovery. (More advanced users can stop this from adb by removing some files)
Personally I use a lightly modified version of the stock rom you are using now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661492
it ought to be safe to do a no wipe update to that and receive a more expected environment with a custom recovery, optional custom OC kernel, and busybox support.
However if you explore the dev section, many other (both more and less modified) versions of ICS roms exist. Themed and otherwise. So feel free to explore.

Hi
please advice shortly if i'm correct
device LT15i. unlocked BL, updated from 2.3.4 (0.62) to 4.0.4 (.587), then kernel downgraded to 4.0.3, then rooted and updated to the last .587
what i want now:
i prefer to get CM10 or MIUI v4 or any other custom rom, but i can not ___as i can not get CMW installed___
(x parts does not install even it says OK, custom rom app does not override x-parts mess it did and refuses install cwm 3.x.x.x on to unsuscessful 5.x.x.x., I can not find stand alone recovery.img for ARC etc... )
please advice if i should look for CWM installled somehow!!! (HOW?)
or should I
1: install Doom kernel, which suppose to be with CWM and then proceed to any other rom through CWM right after that kernel?
or
2: wipe totally to official SEUS ROM no root... and start over again as i did already?
sorry if i got lost somewhere here (and could not find my answer in other topics)
i'd appreciate your replies.
thx
Download cm, extract only boot.img from it other leave untouch.
Fastboot kernel on phone, it will have cwm, (put rom on sd card before fastbooting) and then in cwm flash rom and gapps (finf by your self and put on sd card before fastboot)

Hey all,
Yes, i have read all the sticky Threads about this Theme, and also the Guide about this issue, but its doesnt work....
I have a Samstung GT-I9505
Android: 4.2.2
Basicversion: I9505XXUDMGG
Kernel: 3.4.0-1220396
[email protected] #1
Wed Jul 31 00:14:26 KST 2013
Buildnumber: JDQ39.I9595XXUDMGG
I flash yesterday my Note 8.0 with the same issue, but than i found a CWM Version for Odin and its works, but not here.
At first, i dont wipe my data before the install rom... thats the reason?
I install CWM_6_Touch from the board via Odin v3.09 and try to install this Customrom via recoveryboot (boot with keycommand) => cm-10.2-20130914-NIGHTLY-jfltexx but everytime i geht the "signature verification failed" error. I also try to install the ADAM Kernel, but i cant. I find only .zip files, and no file i can use with odin. I installed the ROM Manager from the Playstore but i also cant install anything with it.
1. At first, i want install the Infamous_S4_Kernel.v4.6_OC Kernal
2. Install the CM-10.2 ROM
Can anybody give me a detailed instruction (pleaes no gobbledygook) what i have to install or wich file i have to flush? You can also send me a PM in German or contact me at skype ([email protected]). I think its more easy at germen for me
Br Lex
Hi again,
So little update, for all other that find this thread via search function.
The Problem, its not possible to install a custom Rom, with the Samsung default Recovery-Mode. At fist i dont see a different and think i boot on CWM but there is a Problem on some phones. There is a bad script on /system/etc/insall-recovery.sh that overwrite your custom recoverymode.
Thats why, i cant install a ROM
Root your Phone, delete the .sh file and install the CWM again via Odin and install your CustomROM :good:
PS: sad, that nobody can write it easy that all can understand it. Everybody speak from e3, e2 and some other special shortwords.
Several months ago, dived into the adventure of rooting my Acer A500. Long story short, I did not complete whatever guide I was following, due to an error message that I could not get around. I did complete through the rooting part, and SuperSU by Chainfire is installed and will grant root access to apps. I tried to install CWMs ROM manager to find out that I don't have a custom recovery installed. After some research, I don't think that my bootloader is unlocked either. Please understand that I use these terms loosely as I really don't know how this all works. I have tried reading through guides and tutorials, but this stuff is only partially clicking with me. I have found some information but none of it seems to apply to my specific hardware and problem. I am gonna post some version numbers below and hopefully someone will be able to tell me where I left off and point me in the right direction. Also, attempts to boot into recovery result in dead android with red triangle exclamation.
Android Version
4.0.3
Kernel Version
2.6.39.4+
Image Version
Acer_AV041_A500_RV05RC01_PA_CUS1
Build Number
Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1
Image P/N
FM.S14A0.00Y
Bootloader Version (A500 Root Tools used)
0.03.12-ICS
Again, I do not know what guide or tools I used to root, but I know that there was more to do. Any ideas or thoughts?
Any luck installing recovery?
Hi, I'm in the same boat as you, Android with red triangle when trying to boot into recovery. I downloaded Acer Recovery Installer which was granted root access. It gave me a list of recoveries to download and install, but had a note about needing an unlocked boot loader, which I don't think I have. I have the same numbered boot loader version as you. 3.12. The recovery installer says 3.04 is OK to use for installing. Did you ever get a recovery installed, and if so, how did you do it?
Thanks,
Scott
Hello everybody, I come here because I have unbrick my A500 with a zip named "root-3.2.1-V4", this zip use EUUS acer tool to flash Android 3.2.1 (it seems like a stock rom with superuser installed and OTA disabled) with CWM 5.x and HC bootloader I presume, so I want to flash an ICS bootloader and lastest thor recovery for flash the lastest Android 5.1.1 but I don't find how to flash the newbootloader without the OTA and update.zip (because all link are dead), I have try this tutorial but i can only select the fourth recovery/bootloader and it make nvflash error :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773323
Now I'm lost behind the dead link and the tutorial who failed to flash.
Help me, thanks.
